The unified exchange rate has been deunified.

Or why are we having such spread between official and black market rate?

APC Tinubu and Voodoo economics are like 5 and 6 grin
And that's a problem. If it's N1,173 : N1,480, I'm really really concerned because it means arbitrage is automatically back. I hope the CBN fixes whatever distortions have led to this.

Those people saying 100k for minimum wage, remember that 60k offer is just for level 1 staff and no one is on level 1, they start from level 4 upward, presently Lagos state state on level 8 are collecting around 140k, we should think of hyperinflation.

I think his highest rank for Brig-Gen. He was a "hero" in S Leone, not Liberia. Meanwhile, I don't think our army was above average fighting force, even then. A lot of work needs to be done on the army. Obasanjo tried to start the process, but he didn't achieve much.

Stop talking rubbish.

The Nigerian military is even MORE powerful today, with better training, and more and better weapons.

They can never be as effective fighting an internal terrorist group in Nigeria for the simple reason that their ‘success’ in that depends on the amount of damage they can cause within the country, making it a terrible dilemma, which prevents them from exercising their full strength and armoury on the terrorists/bandits etc.

Send them out to fight a foreign war where there are no such restraints, and you will see they’re a fearsome fighting force.
Cite one instance where NA was a "fearsome fighting force".

onlinestaff247:
Hey,

N20,000 for ordinary bread irrespective of the brand is way too high.

Do you know that bread is just like an appetizer for men? As for me, once I eat bread, it would seem I've not eaten anything yet...That's why I prefer swallow with nice soup filled with condiments.

I believe it's only women and children that loves bread.

That cash is enough to buy like N3000 food in a fast food, N2000 for two bottles of chilled beer, N2000 for short time with a babe, N2000 for data subscription, N4000 for transport fare for the week and the remaining cash to make soup with garri for the week.

Buying a loaf of bread for N20k is just to impress people but your budget and pocket go hear am.

Cheers!
I disagree with the bolded. It depends on what's in it. But if it's just for vanity, then it's not worth it.

The hell is a brioche loaf?

I did spend 13k for a loaf last year when I found myself really craving bread. I don't eat the regular bread because of gluten issues, so I had to find someone who bakes using gluten-free flour. Price must have gone up now - with all the crazy inflation.

Trust me, majority of the pressure cookers will fail you btw 1-9 months. Why?
Flaws in design.
Talking from experience, I have bought the one with 2 bar arms that lock in place, while my aunt bought the popular England- style design. All broke down.

Why they didn't design a butterfly bolt with it is what I don't know, as it would have helped the locking process.
I heard this is a common problem. I've never bought an aluminuim one though. For the the stainless steel ones I've owned, I'm on my second one, bought 3 years ago. The first one lasted about four years – and I was really pissed since I had thought the darn thing would last like a fridge. Another factor may be use. I only use mine for cowleg, beans and the occasional shaki.

Considering the cost of gas and electricity these days, I think it's a good investment if one finds a good one.

I don't want reply you again since you don't want to come out from absolute ignorance you wear as ur garment, but I choose to when the news of suspension of Oba of Benin uncle broke out.

If government promulgated that the whole family of Oba of Benin would henceforth have opportunity to become Oba of Benin instead of just one person, won't the uncle and every other male children in that lineage happy and accept it without thinking twice?

It's only a foolish that would think, the rest of Oba lineage won't be happy and jump to the throne if such opportunity presents its.

Anyway, you free to be leaving in ignorance if not foolishness.
Your problem is worse than ignorance. That's why you don't read with comprehension, argue points that aren't disputed, and throw words like "foolish" and "ignorant" around like a lower monkey struggling to learn English.

AfonjaPriest:
How many Nigerians have pressure cookers in their kitchens?
Do they even know such an appliance exists?
Anyway, the pressure cooker is the best solution to the Op's dilemma.
It's the perfect solution - no alum, potash, or any such weird recommendations. Just stick them in the pot and time it. Cuts the time by half or 3/5, thereby saving gas/fuel.

There are not-so-expensive aluminium types in the market, so a salary earner could save for it, knowing it'd save them gas money in the long run.

Good day Nairalanders, I have a little problem. I bought some cowskin(ponmo) few days back. They are not so soft, at least to my satisfaction. I've been soaking it in water since I bought it but no significant change has happened. Are there ways I can make them soft? I mean very soft. Are there things I can add to it. Your responses are highly appreciated.
Get a (non-electric) pressure cooker. Why doesn't everyone know this?

A couple of things here

(1) Science actually suggests humans share a common ancestor with chimpanzees, not that we're their directly-engineered cousins. It's a gradual process, not a mad scientist's lab project.

(2) The idea that skin color is linked to intelligence or creator-given status is demonstrably false. It's a product of adaptation, not divine decree.

(3) Extensive geological evidence suggests a global flood like Noah's is highly improbable. Plus, how did animals from all continents magically appear on a boat in the Middle East?

Oga, you dnt know the enomous power of government and how people in power can manipulate people to do their biddings.

YOU THINK SEVERAL PEOPLE OF BENIN ORIGIN, MOST ESPECIALLY AMONG HIGH CHIEFS, WONT BE HAPPY IF OBA OF BENIN STOOL IS OPEN TO MORE THAN ONE FAMILY IN BENIN KINGDOM?

....who no wan become king and his rule his people.....
I don't. Even if I did, an average person is sensible enough to know you won't be plucked randomly and made a king so he doesn't have such aspirations.

Everyone knows the power of government. Not sure why you think only you do. The power of government is different from what can realistically happen. I know the indigenous Bini people. No, I don't believe there are many of them who will accept even a minor change to the throne succession, much less an important one that seeks to do away with an orderly system and open it up for disputes (for what reason exactly?). Even though people can be that self-serving, if it were throne open, only two or three families would be eligible and they'd have to be descendants of some past Oba (Maybe you start from Adolor or Ovonramwhen or Akenzua). No, you can't just pick some "high chiefs" at random since they would have no claim to the throne. So why would many people support that?
Politics › Re: Traditional Council Crisis: Put Edo First, Senator Okpebholo tells Oba, Obaseki by JuanDeDios: 12:34pm On May 26, 2024
Fiscus105:
And who tell you that government can't promugate a law that would open the throne for any Benin bonafide person? You dnt know the power revolve around govt.
In theory, the government can, but it'd take an Idi Amin-type dictator to attempt that. The government can only change the mode of succession to a throne it created - like the Bichi emirate, and no government anywhere has ever changed the mode of succession to any throne. You can only tinker with succession lightly (like Nick Clegg's amendment did to the British throne a few years back) and that is where the people have no problem with such a tinkering. Idiogbe (promigeniture) is rooted in Edo culture and has been upheld by the Supreme Court, and "throwing open" the Benin throne is not the sort of thing government would contemplate. It would be far easier to abolish the throne than to do that.
