In the interim, it's the best thing to do, we loose much more from economic and societal tensions, and possibly violence and destruction from protests, that is very possible, if the people take to the streets due to hunger and deprivation...the nation is loosing more, than the money used to support the naira to keep it stable. Try to see beyond your nose and look at the big picture, if there is rancour, anger and dissent by the larger number, if there is hunger and deprivation of the larger number, and the people are all loosing sense of patriotism, then it is very bleak.

I'm not against social intervention. I've recommended zero-tariff food imports to tackle the current food situation. I also never supported FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL without certain things done first. But I've always campaigned against forex subsidies because the real sector mostly buys at black market rates anyway - forex subsidies mostly benefit hajj travelers, those paying school fees and people with high connections who engage in arbitrage. The irony is that you people (because you can't see beyond your noses) think the current naira situation is due to floating, when it is not. You've swallowed a lie. I hope the government doesn't' cave in and return the dual market for the billionnaires already waiting in the wings to continue cashing out.

Instead buy food and sell to Nigerian with only marginal profit. That should push prices of food down and buy govt more time to implement food based projects locally.

Tell the CBN to educate the public on the matter. As long as people think (wrongly) that floating is what dropped the naira, this "advices" will continue.

The managed float system previously used requires the CBN to defend the currency by selling dollars.

Where is the dollars? Emefiele took a loan from two investment banks and used 70% of Nigeria's foreign reserves as collateral. Even the recent loan taken from an international finance institution used the entire crude proceeds for a year as collateral.

So where will CBN get dollars to go back to the managed float system?

I think the problem is people think floating is why the naira is falling. As long as the CBN makes no effort to correct this misconception, these cacophony of advice will continue to come in. I'm sure Catholic Bishops or Northern Imams will ask Tinubu to reverse floating tomorrow.

The idea of floating the Naira is wrong. Gov should determine the value of the Naira to dollar based on their strategic national interests. Floating the Naira makes it permanently unstable.

I don't think it is hysteria or suspicion. It is scientific. If you have indept idea of the biochemistry of foods, as it relates to the physiology of the human body, you would avoid GMOs as much it is possible. Ask yourself, do the rich owners of these GMO promoting companies consume GMOs? Why do most rich people and renowned scientists avoid GMOs?

One of the major precursors of cancer is MUTATION. GMO is produced via mutations. The DNA and RNA backbones of GMOS are already altered, and if they get into the human system may cause a different mutation that may lead to life threatening consequences.

GMO should not the first or only option for food security. My opinion though.

I know people who have headed companies and worked marketing: the fact is that some of the people you mentioned are not allowed not to eat these things - they have to. We tweak the parliamentary system to enable the prime Minister to be voted directly by the masses and would not need party or coalition to form government...he would just select ministers and focus on governance..
Parliamentary system biggest advantage is that u can not have a dullard as prime Minister...unlike the presidential system where the president can easily hide
