Politics › Re: Why Saraki Will Survive At The Supreme Court by JuanDeDios: 8:21pm On Apr 18, 2016 |
chukwudi44: It is already obvious that the useless Danladi Umar of the CCT is biased so I am not expecting any sensible judgement from him,he can as well deliver his Tinubu written judgment tomorrow for all I care.Unfortunateley for him and his paymasters, this case would still be adjudicated up to the supreme court before it is rested.
The main thrust of my argument which I am sure the supreme court will interpret very well is section 3(d) of the CCT act which was not complied by the CCB before rushing to the kangaroo tribunal
the sction stipulates;
Section 3(d) of the CCB Act states that: “The functions of the Bureau shall be ….to receive complaints about non-compliance with or breach of this Act and where the Bureau considers it necessary to do so, refer such complaints to the Code of Conduct Tribunal established by Section 20 of this Act in accordance with Section 20 to 25 of this Act.
“Provided that where the person concerned makes a written admission of such breach or non-compliance, no reference to the Tribunal shall be necessary.”
The CCB was supposed to get back to Saraki and reconfirm the declarations stated in his form. This was the same premise upon which Tinubu was freed.Danladi umar obviously acting out a script by his paymasters have already overruled himself on the Tinubu Judgement. But how these portion of the act is interpreted by the supreme court is what will finally decide the case Someone opens a thread calling a very senior national judicial officer "the useless Danladi Umar of the CCT" in the first line and Seun, Lalasticlala or Lalasticlara pops it on the front page! Ok o. |

Quakertellicus1: Hmm..
Am sure some people will say that Osho baba is a greedy governor....but the fact is it costs a lot of money to set up and adequately fund universities.
If you want someone to blame....in 2009...ASUU tried and got government's promise for extra funding for the universities. By 2013...that promise had not been kept....and all government could do was give unis N200bn to share. (Down from N3 trillion).
(Now if you expect me to blame GEJ....sorry. GEJ has nothing to do with this).
Here is the fact. Annual costs for many of the foreign universities Nigerians love to go to costs $100-200bn. (UCLA, USA spent 250bn in 2014).Nigerian Universities get on by with just N20bn naira....or less every year. That is why most of them look wretched, and are poorly equiped....because they do not have the funds to be properly maintained.
And as I said here earlier...we need N3 trillion every year to properly fund all our universities (based on the 2009 ASUU agreement). THis year's budget costs N8trillion., last year 5 trillion. Do you guys honestly expect Govt to just give universities N3 trillion out of N8trillion this year to universities? Just like that? Nothing for primary, secondary or any other form of education?
Sorry...but Osho Baba is not greedy. He is realistic. And any governor who increases fees is also being realistic. Yes....that means that some of us won't be able to go to school (which is where scholarships/grants come in)....but the fact is...if you want good universities....you have to pay for them. No two ways about it. Then he should have started by employing competent people. Read that thing up there again. If you go to this school you pay high and get the same deeducation obtainable at our other public schools. Oshiomhole is greedy. |

you leave Tinubu for same offence and then pursue saraki...

I would even recommend that the senate passes a law to scrap it. Scrap EFCC too. And the courts. |

Politics › Lagos-calabar Train: If You're From Southern Nigeria, Come In Here by JuanDeDios(op): 6:08am On Apr 14, 2016 |
Call your Rep and your Senator and tell him you don't care what he or she does but they should just make sure the Lagos-Calabar railway is "captured" in the final budget. Call the minister from your state too and make the same demand.
This concerns you most if you're from the South South. It's our people who need this to open up our zone and facilitate movement. Human traffic is more easily from down south to Lagos, not the other way round. Ogbomoso folks couldn't care less if there is a train to Yenagoa. Some SE folks also think this doesn't concern them since it only passes through two states. They're wrong, of course, since people in the entire zone can easily get to PH or Onitsha or Aba to get on the train to Lagos and to facilitate movement of commercial goods.
Anyway, SS folks and all southerners, you have heard me. |

BeardedMeat: The south south senators are quiet because when everybody is talking, nobody is talking. The south south senators you talk about, is any of them the chairman of the comittee empowered to speak categorically on the issue? Has Ben Bruce not taken a position? Has Amaechi who is at the centre of everything issued a statement? Has the budget office taken a position? Can't you see that there is highwired politics of pride, ego and superiority playing out within the ranks and file of APC? The south south senators and south east which are mainly in the opposition should just siddon look and allow APC satisfy their egos. And BTW, apart from Ashafa who made a statement, who else from the south west has said any other thing about this? The project in question is for the benefit of all and the lawmakers have told buhari that he should sign the budget for the interest of Nigerians and then bring whatever is left out that should be there in the supplementary.
The president rejected this olive branch and instead went away to far away china. Bros, allow APC to fight and settle themselves you hia. What has Murray-Bruce said please? |

We should be inundating our reps with calls by now. |
Romance › Re: Getting Married Even When You Are Broke by JuanDeDios: 8:09pm On Apr 09, 2016 |
Elxandre: Marriage is not everything!
My personal principle is that it's better to marry at 45 financially comfortable, than to marry at 25 broke.
I hate relationships getting strained over fickle things like money. Very disgusting it is. I can still remember what happened to someone I know after he married broke. Not something you pray for.
Edit..
I also believe it's very selfish to marry broke, because you don't know what your financial situation would be in the short term. How then do you cater for your kids if things do not improve before they come around. Except of course you postpone child bearing. I changed the figure. Just curious. Do you still agree? |
Romance › Re: Getting Married Even When You Are Broke by JuanDeDios: 8:07pm On Apr 09, 2016 |
AntiWailer: it is very true.
Most married women caught up in adultery do so because of one need or another.
and like i said it is the basis like the remote cause. Most of the married women who cheat don't do it for the money. I agree there are many women who are convinced money is the reason they cheat but I assure you that if all married men suddenly became rich cheating won't reduce much. In the matter under discussion here, what is key, the point you seem to miss, is the person you're married to. Some couples are BOTH working and are comfortable with contributing to running the home - for them, being able to buy her good things to qualify as husband doesn't factor big. What people like you are holding on to is the old ideal. I have no problem with it but since we have moved on from the hunter-gatherer society when the man had to kill deer to bring the food home, to one where women now have as much opportunities to make money as men, we have to deal the reality that the large number of women working will correspond to the number of men displaced. Upholding the old ideal is, therefore, misguided. Displaced men - that is why you have too many men now roaming the streets in their 30's and 40's, unable to marry women who want a man who can buy them expensive toys. But I guess Nigerian women want to eat their cake and have it. They want the same work opportunities men have but want the husband to fund the home alone. Ok o. |
Romance › Re: Getting Married Even When You Are Broke by JuanDeDios: 7:51pm On Apr 09, 2016 |
AntiWailer: I won't advise anybody to marry broke.
When the lady is ageing and counting down age wise, she will encourage you to marry even without a job.
After marriage, her eyes will clear and frustration will set in.
Forget about 'LOVE', As a man, you should be able to take care of your family. Provide the basic necessities.
I have researched some families, 90% of the turbulence Marriage face, the underlining reason is MONEY.
- SHe is wasteful, he is wasteful, he is givving his family and not mine bla bla bla (MONEY)
Look for a lady much younger than you are so you will have breathing space to have an income to sustain a family. (When people with wisdom say don't marry your age mate, it is because of the breathing space you need to set your foot right but as usual we know so much and scream AGE IS JUST a number)
If you can not clothe, shelter, feed, protect her without anybody's help, you are not qualified to be called HUSBAND.
Difficult word, but truth does not have to be palatable. Bolded made me laugh. Red isn't true, though, and you make some wrong assumptions. |

AntiWailer: In the context it actually is. Writing just bad news about someone (your own highly subjective interpretation of actual events) is not bad unless done with malicious intent. A blogger putting up a picture of a celeb's baby isn't bad although it could be if she got the picture through dirty tactics and knows the celeb doesn't want the pic published. Showing off is bad but almost everyone does it everyday. Hanging anyone for it is hardly sensible. |
