I have applied for the passport, but before then, i checked on NIMC app and found out my kids NIN dont have a phone number attached to it even though i gave my husband's number the day we did it.

I hope to update it before capture date.

Do i need to take them to NIN office to update their NIN?

I tracked it and saw this in all my kids own, mine is showing pending NIN

That has nothing to do with phone number attached it either The names on the NIM are not arranged the same way with that on the passport application or the age are not corresponding

I changed the arrangement of my kids names when registering their NIN because their father wants their Native name as first name but in their birth certificate, their native name is their middle name..

Do i need to do a new birth certificate?

It is the NIM and the passport application form thatthey will validate not the birth certificate. The birth certificate is just evidence of date of birth. If the names on the NIM and and that of the passport application form are arranged in the Same format you will not have any issues

I might have to go to court alone, and hope for the best, or, l might meet those fellows that help with affidavit to see if they could be of any help.

It is a very simple thing, enter inside the court where they do affidavit, tell them what you want to do and they will tell you the cost which is 1k mostly. You give them they stamp it for you and your guarantor is not mandated to go with you. Very easy thing, and I don't know why people make it look so difficult without even giving it a trial.

Only two Passport Offices in Nigeria have the machine that prints the new e-Passport with enhanced technology - Ikoyi and Abuja HQ.

The rest are using the regular passport technology which is one of the reasons why you get your passport produced very quickly in other centres like Sagamu. Those centers only issue the regular passport booklets.

In addition, the new e-Passport is more expensive at 25k (+1k for payment processing). In some centers, especially in the North, people pay 12k - 15k for passport. They only issue old booklets to them for that price.

To confirm you have the new e-Passport, the data page will be hard carbon fiber (like a plastic) with improved design and green in colour. The regular passport data page is flexible and can easily be damaged by water while the new e-Passport has water protection.

Apparently, it takes longer to produce the new e-Passport and so if you file at Ikoyi, you should expect delay up to 2 months or more, given the huge population of applicants as well.

Was this write up done is 2015? Why reposting it here when we have moved beyond this or it's just a reminder of where we are coming from?

He asked that we should discuss and I told him that there is nothing I will discuss with him, that what I am there for is my passport, that he will explain later why he decided to remove my file from production when there was no issue with the file. At this point a lot of people both visitors and his fellow officers where all listening to the issue.
He decided to work away from the the office and asked my to leave, of which I told him I am going nowhere He came back about fifteen minutes later and called me and start by saying that he is going to produce the passport since it was on health ground that he is actually sorry for the whole thing, that he actually noticed the day I came for capturing I was not feeling well and that was why then he allowed me to captured, that it was a mixed up, and I will get the passport next week and he end up giving me his number. All this was because I raised my voice that he must explain why he removed my file from production.
NB, they are very fast in Gwagwalada office, they have finished up to September and they now producing October.

To the glory of God, I collected the passport today. After confirming from the collection office system that the passport have been produced but another drama occurs because the passport could not be found both in their records and even in the archives.
It was after much talks and moves that the passport finally comes out for pickup and in all these I refused to pay additional one Kobo even though there was demand.
DIY is the really thing, but I will not advise anyone to do it in Gwagwalada office

Good evening, I captured in Festac September 19th, but My contact is telling me the passport is yet to be activated and the online tracker says passport is still in production, what can I do ? I really need the passport this December.

Your contact is playing fast one on you maybe to get more money from you or there might be unresolved issue between you and him and as such polling out your file from production just to get at you as it happened to me in Gwagwalada immigration office. The best option for you now is to go there yourself to pickup your passport and if it is not ready ask questions to what must have happened. You be shock on what you Will found out than relying on your contact. My personal experience though

Finally collected my Passport at Alausa. Captured August, It was due since October but didn't had time to keep checking. Only checked once in September. Didn't pay a naira extra apart from the 25k. They didn't ask me for money either, i just grab my passport, sign, thumbprint and log out. Completely DIY, Only attempt this if you have time like me sha. I knew i wouldn't need it anytime soon.

That's very nice of Alausa then, for not asking for any extra money.But here in Abuja that supposed to be a leading example to what immigration stand for, will act contrary. For instance, Gwagwalada immigration office we ask you to pay compliance fee of eight thousand naira #8000 of which failure to pay they will remove your file from production until you are forced to pay.

This is like miracle, even the so call Abuja have become exploitation center and no body is doing anything about it's either you pay or they remove your file. There's nothing like DIY over here in Gwagwalada

Mistakes like this is why there Are against DIY applicants they will quried you "why did you do it yourself"

New applicants who wants to go DIY way needs to learn from other past applicants experiences to try possibly to avoid such mistakes during online registrations input exactly what's on NIN slip eg First name, middle name, last name and most importantly date of birth, month and year

And also Nim name correction is just #500 and affidavit to back it up

Hello everyone, I enrolled for my passport some months ago and captured in October, I did it through the DIY route and I was able to make contact with an immigration officer that day and we exchanged numbers. I called her yesterday and she promised to help me check my production progress, she reached out this morning and said it was currently in Data uploading. I have been trying to call her but I haven’t been able to reach her. I’m just concerned and would like to know if that’s a green flag or I’ll still have to wait for months ?
