The Nairaland Movie Club

Start Point

A thread dedicated to movie reviews, likes, dislikes, everything and anything on a particular movie. A thread solely for thrashing out details missing or too obvious in a movie. A thread for detailed and informed analysis on a chosen movie, where its flaws and good sides are thrashed out.
Simply, a movie lover's haven for informed analysis on movies.


Concept

Ever heard of a study group? Yeah, this is how the Movie Group is also. We, members, come together, choose movies to go watch, come back and bare everything about the movie. The highs and the lows, the good and the bad, everything and anything, and at the end of every review, we rate the movie and see how it fares.


How it Works

Like explained before, it works like a study group. The Movie Group would work with members agreeing to see a particular movie from a pool, we give ourselves a week to go see the movie, then we all come together after a week to thrash out the movie, rate it, then agree on a new one to see, go watch, come back and thrash it out. . .so the cycle continues.


Membership

This is quite important. Qualification for membership is ultimately your obvious love for movies. Then you must be able to analyse critically without any form of bias. Your analysis must be informed and relevant irrespective of the side of the divide your view falls.
If you meet these requirements, game on!. your a member.
. . .and of course you must have access to the internet. . lol


Choosing Movies

Movies would be chosen everyweek. It would be chosen from a pool [/b]of movies.
Here is how the pool works.
We suggest movies we'll like to see, it goes into the pool, then by votes, we pick one.
[b]Note: Every movie in the pool would be seen.

In choosing movies, every genre would be considered. so the pool has to be full. We suggest movies from all genres, and every week we get to see a different kinda movie.

and for starts, lets review Slumdog Millionnaire. Many people have seen it thus, the choice. And while we review, drop a movie into the pool you would like us to see. So by next week, we choose a movie from the pool by votes.

very very unnecessary scene. abusing the poor guy. wat the directors tried to do was to tell us the blind guy was a good guy. he didnt lose his temper even when someone was obvioulsy trying to get him worked up. but that little message could av been better passed across. .
twas a drab work. . .

will smith should jus cool down for like say 3 years, before any other movie.
and if he dares come back with another cry cry movie, he goes straight to no 1 on my blacklist!

righteous kill was a big disappointment,
i was soo excitied goin to see the movie. deniro and pacino in a movie together?!! had to be great, . so i tot.

i saw this movie a day before xmas last year, i came here and said it was crap, and people were like "shut up".
so i tot i was wrong, saw it again, and i felt even worse. . .

the movie was loudly calling for a pity party. it was obviously crying out to the Academy for awards. u know the sort of sober and sad movie the oscars likes to reward. And i was soooo glad it didnt even get a nomination.
the plan was, get a story that wouldmake people cry, then you are good!!. but hey. it didnt work!.

Just coming off Pursuit of Happyness, a sober movie, that won some hearts over, came I Am Legend., another sober flick. Now this.
from Will alone? That alone out me off the movie already.

then the story itself,
the guilt part was understandable, but the switching identities stuff wasnt really sensible.
and his acting was wayyyy off.

and the ending was,  OMG!! crap.  the blind guy just had to meet the girl,  and ofcourse they knew eachother abi?!!!!
the only good part of the movie was when he was carrying the fish tank up to the motel room and he attendant was sooo shocked. he asked,  how long will you be staying? , til i die, he said.    (or smthng like that)lol

fight club, very beautiful start and flow, but the end just spoilt everything. they had to bring in some stupid double personality stuff. that alone ruined the whole movie for me.

righteous kill, i hate movies with cliches. and this movie has a lot of it. the ending was jus plain obvious right from the start, and they were trying real hard to beat around the bush, Even De Niro and Al Pacino couldn't make me forget the obvious tactless ending,

bangkock dangerous, thick as thieves (banderas and freeman), alot of stupid cliches and terrible endings,

trust me, there are movies that start well, and you just expect it to flow till the end , but they just find a way to mess it up, with generally ruins the whole movie,

Within Temptation in soo coool. i love the Heart of Everything and Frozen, very crazy songs,

I think a congratulations on landing a third consecutive title is well in order. 7 points!. Impossible for Rafa and his dead soilders to catch up.
Funny enough, United is 7 points clear without much effort. We didn't even have to try that hard. And to think we've been the busiest team in England, playin more games than any other team in the EPL. Going to Japan and winning,
