Atlantis85: Thank you @justwise.
The email is a direct reply to my mail requesting for the extension so I should print the complete thread, yea? Here's what I initially sent:

"I hereby request for an extension of resumption for purpose of my Tier 4 Visa application.

Visa application processing time in Nigeria takes approximately 21 days hence, I would like to have resumption date extended by one (1) week from the official school resumption. This is because I won't be able to send in my application till 4th September 2012 as a result of the requisite 28-day waiting period for maintenance fee which won't be due until 3rd September 2012.

Thank you"
Yes print both emails and label them properly.

wowo2: Honestly, I find it difficult to believe that students without stay are in a UK school.

Are they obtaining degrees in another person's name - using ori-olori - or their visas have expired?

It is difficult to believe the former; and in case of the latter, i would think the school would have been communicating them and threatening withdrawal of access to the school facilities etc.

I don't understand and will appreciate if someone in the house can explain...
The issues here are that the uni did not keep track of students who did not attend lectures, students who speak little or no English while the uni has stated in the CAS that those students have level of English language suitable for the course.

The uni turned a blind eyes to these offenses and you don't blame UKBA for taking actions, though wrong timing.
Travel › Re: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by justwise(mod): 12:47pm On Aug 31, 2012
Long One: Well, fair enough, but it still does not justify their decision.

UKBA could have suspended the university licence without banning them from teaching current students – you don’t throw out the baby with the bath water. If these students abscond or resort to crime, they will have a bigger issue on their hands.
Blame the uni, they knew the punishment for breaking the rule ages ago, its nothing knew.

Travel › Re: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by justwise(mod): 12:02pm On Aug 31, 2012
Long One: As usual, the UKBA have gone guns blazing on foreign students in a bid to curb immigration, without properly thinking about the consequences of their action.

What they should have done is to prevent new students coming in, and given the university a period to let current students pass through. This way, they would not have panicked students who are uncertain of the future, apart from the stress of living in a foreign land.

With the unnecessary chaos they have created, I honestly wonder what happened to the brains England had in those good old days. Now, it seems to be a bunch of disgruntled legislators, nit picking on foreign students and foreigners in general.
The university knew about this since March, they saw this coming and kept quiet, now the student is suffering it. I don't like this timing but the uni should have put their house in order.

If i were the students i will sue the uni for this.

Atlantis85: Hello everyone, hope y'all have have had a nice week?

Sent a mail to my uni requesting for extension by one week. Here's the reply I got:
"Dear X,

Thank you for your email.

The enrolment commences on 24th September and classes start on 1st October so it is important that you enrol on the 1st October or a few days later the latest.

The UKBA are aware some of the students will be arriving late.

I will also inform the school."

Is this okay? Or should I call to specifically request for a letter to take to the embassy?

Thanks
I doubt if they will give you any personal letter for the embassy, attach this email to your visa application package. Print straight from your inbox, don't copy it and paste in ms words before printing.

salsera: Gd list,

Onlu thing is yam in the Uk doesn't do so well when the weather less humid
Then watch the quantity of dryfish you bring same goes for stockfish. Ziploc bags and placing some coffee in the bag can mask snell.
Pack indomie cos its expensive here though poundo yam n gari are alright.
I also took crayfish and ugu(make sure its dry before you wrap it up)
Okro dey plenty
In general the availability.and cost of african foods depends on where you live.
The closer to london the cheaper it is so its not uncommon for people to commute.
Atlantis85: In reply to what kind of foodstuff can be taken when going to resume, I'd suggest the following:
Yam,
unripe platain (you can wrap it up when u get to uk till it ripes)
Crayfish, dried fish, dried pomo, blended egusi, ogbono, maggi (make sure you wrap them tightly in clingfilm, ensuring the film goes round several times)
Indomie
Beans
I didn't take garri but I know its allowed. Didn't even bother considering yam flour as its too powdery, lest I get delayed at immigration.
Palm oil was frozen but the lady at immigration asked me to drop it. U could take it tho, u might get lucky.
If you wna make amala or eba nd the likes, don't forget turning stick nd the wide spoon for scooping :d
Oh yea, I bought plÀntain chips too. Red oaks is nice cheesy.
If I think of anything else, I'll add.
When you get there peckham is good for african food stuff. Dalston too.
You two should team up and open African restaurant grin grin

Bakorede: @justwise,nt deliberating discusing dis issue but it stems 4rm d fact dat i need a good platform and condition b4 i reply at d embassy.atleast wat brought abt d discsion is dat i feel it wil b beta if i'm able to sponsor myself.so wat brought abt d discsion is d travel issue.u shuld understand dat some of d members of NL who are study applicants at d CAN embassy may av what it takes to sponsor themselves but cudn't thnk or how 2 start and i believe other members dat are reading 2ru d thread may av 1 or 2 thins 2 learn and dis may encourage them in floating their own buzz and dis will definately give them opportunity of sponsoring themselves and their relatives.there4,it's never a deliberate attempt to digress to business stuff on dis thread!
Business discussions should be done in business section, i don't want to go into discussion whether opening a 'business' for the sake of getting a visa is a good idea. Lets leave this thread for Canadian student visa.

obadiah777: had to leave the country in the middle of it because of family problems not because of the education. the education was the best. first off if you have to prove yourself by writing essays on every exam, you will be a lot smarter with more critical thinking skills. all the universities i attended in america and britain ? the lecturers are too lazy to be bothered to score essays so everything is in multiple choice questions. i found myself missing those essay writing tests and exams so i can prove myself and show my knowledge. all in all ? i had my best education in nigeria. dunno what the state of the education is there now but when i was there ? i absolutely loved it and those are the best years of my life up till now. i pine for those years again. wish i can bring back those years. plus the friendship you make in nigerian universities is brotherly and sisterly. out here you cant really fraternize too well because of racial differences. chances are you are being tolerated alot and as such you will never make close friendships. plus there are hardly campus accomodations. you have to rent out of campus and as such you dont get a cohesive community feel to the whole thing. all in all, its all hype and no substance.
obadiah777: i was actually born in england wink as are all my siblings. you cant deport a man from where he was born.
http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/5403/729w.jpg <<<< pic of my passport wink
Look at these two post ^^ Were you born in England and sent back to Nigeria to get educated in those days?

How does a picture of a passport proves that you are born in England? You don't need to be born in the UK to get the passport, you can get it through marriage, holding work permit, living there for 10, 14 yrs.

obadiah777: bruh i dont know if you are an atheist. and if you are, then you are a big fool. however if you are not an atheist and you read the bible very well, first of all we are not black. we are brown. secondly we are not africans. africanus is a white mans name. leo scipio africanus named the continent africa after he conquered it. prior to that it was called ' lower and upper ethiopia and prior to that it was called the land of ham. so we are not black and neither are we africans. we are the real israelites that the bible speaks of and we are under the deuteronomy 28 curses.
Let me pretend as if i did not see that insult.

Now listen....there is something seriously wrong with your mental make-up, this rambling is out of ordinary, seek help.

obadiah777: and from what you just wrote i can see that you no education, foreign or local has helped you. you think you can source a mans achievements and character via text in cyberspace ? shows how intelligence challenged you are.
Yes i can very much, this is the reflection of who you are in real life, your written speaks for you.

When you write an exam you will not be there during the marking to defend every bit of it, you express your thought and feelings through your writing just like you have done here.
Travel › Re: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by justwise(mod): 7:42pm On Aug 30, 2012
obadiah777: i dont see anything contradictory in that. again you display lack of critical thinking. just because the buka environment looks rundown does not mean the food will not be sweet. if you are there for the food, you will love it. if you are more focused on the decor, then maybe you will not like it. however some of us choose to focus on the food as opposed to the decor.
You accused others of hating anything Nigeria but at the same time you said .....the problem with nigerian universities is that it is run by black people. thats the only problem as far as i am concerned. black people are under curse ( the deuteronomy curses ) ......

Was it after you got that good education in Nigeria and left that the black man was cursed?
Travel › Re: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by justwise(mod): 7:38pm On Aug 30, 2012
obadiah777: See you lack critical thinking. i outrightly admitted that the nigerian universities are not run well. and i said thats the problem. the fact that a black man was in charge. so why regurgitate what i accepted and admitted to in a question ? however in terms of substance and course content, nigerian universities are better.
Reading all you have written so far i can now agree with you that foreign education did not help you at all.
