azoo: @justwise and all, please I need ur advise. My fiancee just got her visa to travel to the UK for her MSc and she has covered her tuition already and has little maintenance fund with her. Is it possible she gets accomodation where she can pay weekly or monthly pending when money is sent to her or she must pay for the whole 44wk or 52wk contract at a go?
And if you know someone that can help out with accommodation pls holla me at az.yomiyusuf@gmail.com. The school is uni of sheffield. Thanks
She will be asked to pay monthly but she need to make deposit which is refundable when she moves out, the deposit is always equivalent of her monthly rent, school accommodations are always more expensive and they demand more money in terms of deposit than private rented accommodation.

Many school accommodations charges you for using washing machine while its free in private accommodations, i can go on and on about school accommodations..but no need.

^^^ this is not even the case of getting it on the cheap, its getting it free while others pay for it, surely that can not go on for even, when the cost bits harder and economy keep crumbling somebody is going to make that hard decision of stopping the health-tourism
Travel › Re: Naija Nawa Oooo by justwise(mod): 10:29am On Aug 24, 2012
MRbrownJAY: ^^^^yes, i see your point, and its for foreign nations to change their health policies (especially when most health care system in 3rd world countries are falling apart) ......and lets not forget, we all know that many only do so to get their kids a foreign passport (whether health issues or not).
It will be sad if the UK changes the policy of treating people first before asking to know if they are entitled to be treated or not.

Saving life first is more important than the cost of it but with abuses like this innocent people will pay the price.
Travel › Re: Naija Nawa Oooo by justwise(mod): 10:13am On Aug 24, 2012
MRbrownJAY: ^^^^ well said!!!
she shouldnt have been on that plane to begin with, let alone gone through UK immigration...... as this practice is NOT NEW! abi people already forgot about the episode of "UK border agency" when that heavily pregnant woman in Lagos was begging the white airline lady at MMA to get on the plane?!

sadly, even if that lady could afford treatment in a private hospital in 9ja, she would still value the services of a foreign hospital over that of the 9ja one......and i am sorry to say that i dont blame her. some of the horror stories that we hear about hospital treatment in Nigeria are out of this world!

I don't like it when people abuses other people's system just cos they can, if she want foreign health treatment let her pay for it, it cost a lot to have a functioning health care system.

NuNu08: Hey justwise&vicjustice.....i was refused visa today with a̶̲̥̅ decision from thee officer that the credit & balances inn mai acc are not consistent wit mai declared monthly income.......therfore hs not satisfied dart †ђξ statement iss a true reflection off mai financial circumstances..therefore hs not satisfied & refused mai application on thee balance of probabilities that  meet all of †ђξ requiremnts of †ђξ relevant paragraph of thee UK immigration rules....yur right of appeal is limited!!!!!!watt do yu tink plsss m i under a ban or ςα̲̅ñ i appeal??th
NuNu08: i explaind in †ђξ form that i receive money 4rm late father'z estate which i also included †ђξ administration letter 4rm court....& also that i receive money 4rm mother & relatives

The highlighted parts are the prob, based on the money you earn from your work or business you don't have strong financial strength to travel to the UK and come back without over staying, as an adult, you can't depend on gifts(money) from family members for foreign leisure trip.

Putting the money you got from your mum and other relatives into your account for the visa application shows that you don't earn enough to be able to make the trip without leaving you out of pocket.

I blame the airline that allowed her to fly into the UK and the immigration at the airport who did not notice that she is heavily pregnant.

If she can afford the cost of ticket to the UK for 'free' delivery then she can afford the cost of private hospital in Nigeria.

lummie800: please justwise and co... is it true if your application hits 9 to 10 working days, there is a probability it would come out positive cos a friend argued if they gonna refuse it, they dont waste lots of time.. from your experience what do you think.. please reply.. anyone with experience.. I LOVE THIS FORUM..........GEEEZ.. all info
That is not true at all, all applications are processed before been refused or issued a visa. You may be refused a visa after 20days or given after the same period of time.

kunlewoye: Thanks! Had to read extensively on that.
Meanwhile, is it advisable for one to carry cash(equivalent of more than 10,000Euros) to the UK in order to open a UK account thereby avoiding all the excessive bank Int'l transfer charges? I know one has to declare this by filling a certain form. Has anyone been here before?
Please don't, you will be asked to pay tax on it. Just do bank transfer when you get to the UK, or take about £4000 in cash (20 or 50 pound note) then transfer the rest.
