She made a mistake, she should have paid for that hotel, get her receipt before boarding that flight, in real sense of it she got no place to stay while arriving in London without any accommodation arrangement.
Sadly she basically gave the immigration a reason to cancel her visa |

She did not cancel the reservation but when she later called the hotel to verify after her removal, the hotel did inform her the reservation had been cancelled but could not tell her when or by whom. Don't forget most hotel reservations cancels automatically if date of arrival passes and it is not paid. So she can't really be sure if the border agent was correct or not. She stated she had no relatives in the UK which is correct.
@Ade
She indeed was served some removal papers. One states her visa was being cancelled as she used deception in getting it. Another paper stated she was being removed as they could not determine if she qualified to be admitted into the UK. Strangely they also claimed they contacted her bank via email for confirmation of her employment status but did not get a response. This has been contradicted by her bank which confirmed they never received such an enquiry till date. That is true, the reservation will be cancelled if the date expires and payment not made, even if you made a payment and did not take up the room and not make an effort to rebook it will still be cancelled. If she had somebody in the UK she would have been allowed in as she have a place to stay but arriving in a country for the first time without an accommodation could be viewed with suspicious, however since she had enough money with her i think the cancellation was a bit harsh. She can appeal if she is given the right to appeal, but she need to deal with the claim that her company did not reply the email from BHC about her employment. |

US and UK usually do not care about the real African genocidal tyrants such as Obasanjo as long as they are accepting IMF loans and following policies dictated to them by the west.
All I ask is for you to research Zimbabwean history over the last 35 years and then form yor own view of Mugabe and not to just not to just adopt white mans view as portayed by BBC or CNN. The problem with somebody like you is deeper that usual, who told you that i have not studied, researched about Zim cases before coming here to comment, i'm not closed minded individual like you who only see things from the racist point of view. All you know is white-man and racist, nothing else, anywhere the issue of west and Africa arises you see it as racist. Its childish, immature and very shameful thing. My view about Zimbabwe and Mugabe is from experience since1999 the very year i went to that country, don't expect me to reproduce Mugabe's ant-west speech before you stop ranting about thinking like racist white-man. You never answered a single question i asked you here. Where do you get your news from? |

We African still do not realise that it usually the African leaders that the west criticise are the patriotic ones who refuse to do the right things for their people.
Does anybody recall USA or UK criticism of IBB (Babangida), Obj, YaraDua or GEJ who are some of the most corrupt and biggest looters in the history of the world.
No? , does that not speak volumes?? US don't have to step in and solve all your problems, even when they do you think they are doing it because of your oil, when will Africans start feeding themselves and depend less on handout from the west? |

Lwandle: People should stop attacking the person of MUGABE the man but instead look at depth at what he was saying.
The MIGHTY USA when they put sanctions on Zimbabwe said 'The policies being followed by the Zimbabwean government poses a serious and continuous threat to USA foriegn policy'
Why would the MIGHTY USA be so concerned with the policies implemented by little Zimbabwe to the extent they imposed sanctions together with their European cousins and tried to get a UN Security Resolution (Thank you Russia and China for the vetoe) on poor little Zimbabwe?
Too many of our people are just too lazy to think and analyse situations for themselves.
Unfortunately too many of our AFRICAN leaders cant think wont think are just puppets!! You really need to stop muddling issues, is this your level of analysis? No wonder you know jack about Zimbabwe situation. |

dancewith: Hi All,
A family freind was denied entry into the UK last week. She was issued with a six months validity visa and travelled visa KLM to Heathrow terminal 4. The border agent proceeded to contact the hotel she booked and claimed the hotel reservation has been cancelled. Although she had 2,000 pounds (cash) with her and her credit card (including her staff ID: she is a mdille level employee in one of Nigeria's new generation banks), the agent still cancelled her visa and she was removed back to Nigeria.
She is quite upset, considering she is not even aware the reservation is cancelled as claimed. She also feels she had enough cash to support her one week stay (with or without the hotel reservation as she can pay cash for a cheaper hotel if need be). I daresay she was badly treated, with no benefit of doubt. She had previously travelled to UAE & South Africa and is well into her early forties.
What options can she pursue to reverse this cancellationa and denial of entry? That was harsh but who cancelled the hotel reservation? Did she indicate in her application form that she has somebody in the Uk? |

GenBuhari: Blindly adopting the views of racist colonial masters does not equate to thinking for yourself. You are only accusing Mugabe of being corrupt because you saw it on BBC or CNN news and have simply adopted their views without caring to look at the situation in isolation and come to your own conclusions. I lived and studied in Zimbabwe for almost 4yrs. I was there before and during the crisis |

Meanwhile, returning my documents; one of my original document (wedding certificate) was not returned to me but the photocopy was returned instead. And this document is vital to me even not for the visa purpose. Now, i want to re-apply, can i submit the photocopy and write to them that the original is still with them? I have sent them mails several times and have not received a reply in that regard. Pls advice me candidly, Yes do that, us the photocopy and remind them that they still have your original wedding certificate. They normally return original copies, could be a mistake |

We just like to make things complicated. This is simple. A spouse of a student (F2) is not legally permitted to work. That is why before she is given the visa, the man has to prove he has the funds to take care of her!
All these addendums you are planting in the hearts of those who don't know hardly work! Which permission lies with the INS? how many people do you know the INS granted permission to work with F2 status? even F1 to work outside campus?
Brother, its not black and white. Let's not deceive people, rather educate them on the realities on ground.
Cheers Don't take anything paris10 says seriously, he makes things up as he goes, i hope prospective students don't read his misleading info and take it. |

GenBuhari: ^ You need toask yourself how it is you found yourself criticising a black African leader who had fought for independence from white racists and who had taken land from whites to re-destribute to blacks.
Ask yourself also , why it is that your views /position on the issue are identical to those of the former colonial masters who are white racists.
Please we must learn to analyse issues and form our own opinons on world affairs and resist simply adopting views fed to us by BBC or CNN (I know it is not easy, because if you hear a lie often enough, it begins to sound that it may be the truth. I rather think like a 'white man' than a corrupt thieving African leaders who cares only about their bank balance than their own people. |
