incras52: yeah i am also very confused, and it all feels twisted, Hope this has a solution, Besides im in the Uk already, Will go to the university that granted me the visa and ask for some help,
Anyway thanks alot for the response.) really appreciat. Don't delay it, walk into you international office and tell them that you have been made to register with the police and banned from working, police registration will cost you about £35. You need to have written explanation from UKBA why you have been subjected to those conditions. |

incras52: Yes i am Nigerian, Nigerians don't register with the police and Tier 4 students with highly trusted sponsors are allowed to work. Your case is a strange one. Your school can help you sort that out when you get to the UK, the international office or the student union will take up your case. That must be a mistake. |

incras52: Hello everyone, I got a tier 4(general) students visa,3weeks back to study computer security, Masters degree, and when i got the visa on the visa was written "work prohibited police registration 7 days in UK" but i misunderstood the sentence ,now I'm in the UK and it turns out that according to the status of the visa I'm not allowed to work even though its a tier 4 (G)visa, Its really confusing,my course will last for 17months full time and i think i meet all the requirements, So my questions are
1)Why should they offer me the visa with a work prohibited status? 2)What's the best solution to grant me the 20hours permit.? 3)Is there really a way out of this?
Will be glad if anyone could help me out. Are you a Nigerian? |

EmmaIK: Good day all. @ Justwise, pls I need assistance. I have aan unconditional offer from a Highly Trusted Sponsor. Do I need to write an english language test like IELTS? Also how do I proceed coz I already have the funds for my fees. Also pls advice me on how I should go about securing accommodation becoz d university halls are quite expensive. If I get one through Gumtree or UNITE is it accepptable to the BHC wen I apply for my visa? Thanks and God bless. The uni will tell you if you need to write any English language test, it should be stated in your CAS as well. If you have your CAS and have had your money for 28days in your account then you can apply. You don't need to secure accommodation before applying for visa, its not part of the requirements, as long as you have your maintenance fees then you are fine. Don't pay anybody from Gumtree a penny until you get to the UK, see the room, sign tenancy agreement before paying else you are in for a scam. You can pay for just a semester accommodation with your school and rent privately after the first semester. |

all4naija: It is sad there are so many reasons why Africans will always be relegated to the background. Somebody mentioned Russia and China, as if they are there for the good of the African people. The truth is that they are there for their own interests.
I will never in my conscious mind support Mugabe failure, he could have used his brain in many occasions to fight rightfully rather than fighting in a way that put his own people at risk. To be entitled to your resources requires a lot of things for it to come into place. Zimbabwe is not the only country where few white people have power over the resources, South Africa once was a worse off case yet things are gradually changing. How did they get there? They did through a common goal of accepting the whites as part of the country after the power has be handed over to the blacks. On the other hand, struggle continues. It is through gradual process of continuous fight for rights there can be equality with the white man, not through violence. There is nothing the white understand most that intelligence, use it for them when necessary, prove it can be used to make something important and they will respect it based on that. Violence repels any intelligent individual. The best weapon is to use the brain to create something good and it's lacking in many African leaders.
Then, we have seen Asians progressing. We wonder how they are succeeding. The truth is that they put into use their brains. They create wealth for their people, embrace organizing their society through leadership that provide for the people and educating the masses. Knowledge is lacking in Africa and those who have some of it are usually castigated of imitating the white yet the world is becoming more white than any other color. Not until will stop acting as fools and find ourselves out of starting from scratch or antagonizing the modern world and organized life we are going to slowly slip further into the wall of total failure and what many are already calling us.
Mugabe has failed his people - that's a fact! The people have failed the country - that is another fact! Zimbabwe problems can only be solved if rooms are given to many educated Zimbabweans to fight for those rightful positions(from president position to the regional leaders'). He can only remained a statesman based on fighting for independence. His service is no longer required, it is off no much use to the country at this crossroad. However,he is still beclouded by the old colonial mentality, as such, he his fighting with might.
I know at this point somebody is going to call me white man slave, poo or whatsoever slur word available at his or her disposal. I don't care. The truth has to be told and ignorance has to be fought - that's the only way we can get closer to becoming a formidable part of the world. Don't bother educating this people, they are OWNED already. |

zolzlolz: I think people here are being driven by their hatred of whites and of the west. This is why blacks aren't succeeding. It seems we aren't able to have a normal relationship with whites. We either revere them or we despise them. This hatred of whites is blinding people from the truth in Zimbabwe. Otuabaroku: "Justwise, I'm talking about a prospective that has done his research in 2009 to take an undergraduate course in UK. His research would have told him that he would be graduating by June 2012(all things being equal) and would utilize PSW to gain international work experience and perpetuate what he has studied which would consequently make him more marketable in his country of origin.
For a student like this, is it his fault that he is caught in this quagmire? This is some of the situations I considered which I think UK government should reconsider their stand, more especially, people that are already trapped in the system. Many get caught up by constant immigration rule changing, he maybe luck to get a job through Tier 2 . |

mimi234: Nooooo it takes place in your 3rd year then you come back the following year to finish of your degree. Trust me I just graduated last year and my friend who went to France is back this year but we started the same time (for 1st and 2nd year) but she jetted off and i completed my final year. This is for the UK degrees. I did my work placement in my second yr and came back to finish my third yr, the same with other Nigerian students i know, maybe your school program is different |
Travel › Re: Nigerian Students In Canada: How Do You Survive? by justwise(mod): 8:24pm On Feb 09, 2012 |
mimi234: Typically an undergraduate degree in the UK are 3 years (with the exception of Medicine and Architecture), however you can do 4 year degree where the extra year is a study abroad option or work experience this usually is your third year then you come back to complete your degree in your 4th year.
However not all universities offer the 4 years degree and not all courses have this 4 year degree as an option got to do your research however the norm in the UK is 3 years for bachelors degree. Work experience or study abroad takes place in your second yr degree then you come back to finish your third year. |

Fhemmmy: I am not too sure, but my stab at it would be that, Nigeria is really operating the England kinda education, while you will have to take more preparation courses in Canada . . . By the way, you could do more to finish your Masters in less than 2 years with hard work if you so desire. or Maybe Canada is better than UK . . . Masters degree in the UK is intensive program, nothing like Nigerian system, degree is 3yrs while its 4 in Nigeria. |

Otuabaroku: ^^ That was a very good tip, thanks.
Off topic, I was going through a website that discussed the proposed abolition of PSW come April 2012; there were many bitter comments by international students already trapped into the system and this particular one caught my attention:
"I have taken a loan and from the bank, and the repayment starts after I finish my studies, I have part £25,000 in tuition fees and expenses. My parents have big hope, so please don't act like fraudsters which you are."
^^^ The comment in bold made me burst into laughter;but on a second thought, I reasoned where most of them are coming from. Some complained of taken loan up to £87,000. I think UK should reconsider their standing on this, more especially, those that have taken their decisions based on PSW before this new proposal. I don't feel sorry for anybody who failed to research well before taking such loan to come to the UK, they have only themselves to blame. Even with PSW in place, paying such amount of money in 2yrs will be very very hard. Many are crying their eyes out now and i can understand some of them but please if you don't have the money for UK education then try other cheaper countries, don't risk it. |

Please can you advise how i can get him a visiting visa for 6mths or 2yrs? i have a valid visa but my circumstances differ from his If he has job prospect in Nigeria then there is no point seeking job in the UK, to be honest, the UK gets tougher day by day, not just the UK ,many countries fighting economic hardship, that said, many people developed this high hope about the UK before living Nigeria and face a reality shock when they arrived and can't wait to go back to Nigeria. Do you think that the ordinary people of both Iraq and Libya are beneffiting in their countries resources?
The report say sixty people died in the Syrian uprising, where do you think this figure will be if NATO 'intervene'?
The only reason America and her allies are fighting this wars is for resources, they steal, they take out a legitimate leaders and install puppets who they control with strings from washington.
I will fight a ww3 anytime,if it means fighting against opression by certain group over the other. And at the moment anyone who will stand against this evil, heartless beast called America, has my support. Claus: Your point about the number of whites in Zim only makes sense if you'd been there 10 to 20 years ago, then you can compare the numbers then to now. It has reduced.
Zim (and other southern African countries) has always had a relatively high white population compared to West African countries. I'm pretty sure that a West African's first impression of Zim would be amazement at "the numbers of white people all over the place".
Your claim about Zim moving forward has nothing to do with Mugabe. Zim was at rock bottom around 2008 (I was there) and has only started inching upward since the government of national unity (GNU) - which involves the real presumed winner of the presidential elections, Morgan Tsvangirai - was formed and the foreign currencies (USD, GBP, Rand etc) became legal tender.
Mr hypocritical "let's stand up to the West" Mugabe spends USD in his own country!
There are those saying we shouldn't attack the person of Mugabe, but we should listen to his words. I say we cannot accept the words of a man whose methods have been disastrous for his own country.
The West will always do what's best for their population, so I strongly believe we need to re-think our stance with them. However, it must not be in the haphazard, asset grabbing, emotionally crazed way Mugabe has gone about it. That way is destructive and that's why Mugabe's words are useless to me. A+++++++++++ |
