claremont: You mean g-ay men having s-ex with each other is a public health hazard?! That's white noise!
G-ay relationships have been existing since the time of primitive human beings, and there is evidence that homo-s-exual relationships also exist in the animal kingdom. If your analogy on it being a public health risk is correct, why has it not wiped out the human race then?!
It may be immoral in some dark enclaves in Africa, but we all know that the majority of Africans derive their morality from their religion, their barbaric culture, or a mixture of both. When people have to lean on their religion and culture to dictate to them what actions are moral and immoral, it totally voids the concept of morality in the first place. claremont i'm not interested in history of gay rela/ship and your views about religion, i have told you already that my views are not religiously inspired. Back to the question you are trying to dodgy, tell us those non-sexual activities that Gay-prostitutes engage in that could lead to HIV and AIDS transmission. The issue here is not about gay couple in rela/ship but about gay-prostitution, so don't twist it. |

Do u know my problem with your comments/posts on visa related matters on NL? is that you often portray yourself as the Consular General/ VO in most cases. For goodness sake you are not. That been said, I even feel you are more grounded in UK visa procedure than the USA visa, and I must state it clear here that both countries visa procedure / issuance / application is not the same. We are all here to help eachother in achieving the visa collection goal and not to make a mess of peoples intentions.
On the issue of whether the embassy do confirm the genuinety of the documents submitted. This is Nigeria, we are easily influenced by money. Take for instance if the embassy approach a Banker and say we want to employ you as our secret Account confirmation/ verification agent, all you need do for us is to confirm Bank Accounts and nothing more. For this job we would pay you generously, say like 500$ per month, do u think the banker would differ? Because someone I sometimes came across who submitted a non existing Bank Account to the Embassy and the VO said to him,''We (embassy) have got power, we know how things work here, I called your Bank to confirm your Account three times and I was told its forged'' Let's state it clear, its unethical for any Bank to disclose a customer's information to a third party but this is Nigeria anything can happen. That bolded comment is nonsense and i mean it, only you know the rational behind that. I hardly comment on US visa issues if you check very well, i only read and delete fraudulent posts/thread. The argument here is about whether the embassy has the right to verify an applicant's bank balance which we all agreed that they do if there is need for it. So where is your rambling coming from? |

imperiouxx: During my two visiting to both US embassies, statement of account was rarely asked from applicants unless the VO is contemplating on whether to approve or deny the applicant. At most denies, statement of account is not requested while it is being asked for approve. Verification comes in when there is an argument or the applicant proven hard to break after the VO had shown the impression of denying the applicant. UK & Canada do good documents verification and it's confirmed also US verify documents that look suspicious to them, based on their instincts and the applicant body language. Act of fraudulent should be totally discourage, still we need to know the kind of information we feed people. Someone once posted liars about national ID card and US embassy in Nigeria here www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-759710.0.html not knowing that he was talking from hearsays while I challenged it and made him realise the nonsense he is feeding people with. Those going during this week of strike have the opportunity of not showing their statement of accounts. Can you point out any misleading info i have given to anybody here? |

claremont: Yes, I am in a perfect position to lecture anyone on this issue for so many reasons. Just so you know, the evidence (which is freely available via Google) overwhelmingly suggests that the high prevalence rate of HIV among g-ays is NOT directly as a result of s-exual activity. There are a host of other non-s-exual activities predominantly performed by g-ay p-rostitutes which have been found to correlate with their high HIV prevalence rate.
I don't live in Nigeria, so I wouldn't know what the current laws are regarding this issue. I live in a country enlightened enough to know that legislators are paid to legislate on public affairs, and not on the private affairs of the people who voted them in. Great!, go ahead and tell us about those non-sexual activities you are aware of. I guess you live in the Uk, is prostitution legalised in the UK? What you called your 'private affairs' is actually a public health hazard as far as HIV and AIDS is concerned. |

Travel › Re: Its So Shameful That Nigerian Men Abroad End Up As A Burden To Their Host Cuntry by justwise(mod): 10:28am On Jan 13, 2012 |
claremont: If your argument is that it is morally wrong for a man to sleep with another man simply because HIV is more prevalent among g-ays as compared to heterosexuals, then you still have your whole work ahead of you to prove that the high HIV prevalence rate among g-ays is causally related to s-ex alone and not to anything else. Moreover, in the absence of g-ay p-rostitutes, HIV will still be transmitted via heterosexual and other non-intimate means.
If you argue again that being a g-ay p-rostitute is morally wrong because it is against the law of Nigeria, don't forget that p-rostitution (homo and hetero) is legalized in some countries of the world. Is it also immoral for it to be practised in those countries?! Moreover, even if morality is deemed to stem from the laws of a country, Nigeria is not a country to give lectures about morality to anyone. Ok claremont, i guess you are in a perfect position to tell us what other non-sexual activities that Gay-prostitutes engage in that could lead to HIV and AIDS transmission. Whether Nigerian govt has the moral right to lecture you about morality or not is irrelevant, the fact still remain that Gay rela/ship or prostitution is against the law in Nigeria. |

phy: @ spare, I'm sure you can go to the embassy without statement if it's because of the strike. My interview at the US embassy Abj was during the period when Union bank staff were on strike and a lady was at the embassy that day, she was asked for her statement she explained that Union was on strike (I can't remember if she also had a newspaper evidence). The VO said they knew and that she could go ahead with her interview and honestly she got her visa. So, personally I feel it's to your advantage.
About the statement Under the Nigerian law no bank is allowed to release a customer's balance to a third party except Nigerian regulatory authorities like the EFCC, CBN, NDIC and SEC. The best they could do is to confirm that the person in question has an account with the bank. However, because of all the marketing craziness in the Nigerian banking industry about 2 or so banks cooperate with some of these embassies (US embassy not included as at 2010) and they unofficially get the balance info in an untraceable manner that no one can track. That was why embassies like UK and Canada in particular could verify some of these infos. With this in view, even if you use the wrong docs you can never be arrested as there is no existing bilateral agreement in respect of this (bank account info) with any country or embassy. So do not hesitate to go and pick either your passport or 'visaed passport' when called. There is no truth in that garbage you just written, you made every single line up The banks are not giving your info away to the embassy, you have done that already, so i don't know where your argument is heading to. Its laughable to think that Nigerian govt cares more that our privacy than USA or otherr developed countries. |

claremont: No, you haven't answered the question. He asked what makes it IMMORAL?! It is very easy for anyone to come on a social networking site and make unsubstantiated statements, the real work starts when evidence to back up the statement is being sought. If p-rostitution is immoral, what makes it so?! How hard is it for people to understand that whatever anyone does with his/her body, so long as it's done within the tenets of the law, is his/her business. claremont. In my opinion which i'm completely entitled to, its morally wrong for a man to sleep with another man for money. Health-wise. . the number of HIV and AIDS cases among gay men are higher compared to heterosexuals.
When it comes to HIV and AIDS its not about. . . whatever anyone does with his/her body, so long as it's done within the tenets of the law, is his/her business. . . . it does affect others directly or indirectly, let me also remind you that prostitution is not legalised in Nigeria yet neither is gay relationships. |

claremont: Actually, he asked a perfectly rational question. Is there a particular reason why it is immoral for a human being to freely make a decision to offer his/her own body in exchange for payment?! Who said it is immoral, and what makes it immoral?! What evidence is there to make it immoral, besides religious sadism?! Just as i have given him perfectly rational answer, like i said before, i don't give a monkey what anybody does with his backside but being the oldest profession doesn't make it moral. I'm the least religious person you would ever met, my views are not religiously inspired, so if you got issues with religious people then deal with it. |

cleverdude: @justwise,I'd say that visa interview comprises of 70% speech presentation and 30% document presentation, that is why people with fraudulent documents at times convince the VO with the way they present their speech without the VO even raising an eyebrow and noticing the fraudulent documents, while some applicants are denied, despite their genuine documents,as a result of weak speech presentations. Genuine or fake document. . . no embassy guarantees you a visa, its a privilege and not a right. I still maintain that very few people get away with fraudulent documents. |

Nigeria's gr8est problem is Nigerians, we so much believe in ''one thing is good and the other is bad''. the bad name we all carry about now is a conglomerated actions of both the past and present generation. prostitution is one of the oldest profession in the world and i see no reason people should think its immoral. That is very ridiculous thing to say, for the fact that its the oldest profession in the world doesn't mean that its right to sell your backside for money. I don't care what anybody does with his backside but don't tell me that because its the oldest profession then its moral. |

No time did I ever say I was going to the embassy with FAKE WAEC result. I said my original result looked fake because most of the grades had erased and asked if it would be ok to just just go with a print out of my result with a scratch card to Verify? My WAEC result is perfect and would get admission to any school so why would I go to the embassy with a FAKE result? Dont draw conclusions because you think you know it all,
I am still kicking even though this country is getting worse by the day
I say again Embassies have no access to your info except it is acquired fraudulently!!!! Laws in Nigeria are different from laws in the US in the sense that Nigerian Govt supports privacy but that is not the case in the US!!!! Govt wants access to your toilet!!!!! If embassies had access to all info I bet 80% of the people who get UK visas would be refused because they scrutinize these applications and still fail to detect fraud What in the name of God are you talking about? Which info? You have given the embassy all the info about you, you have completed the visa application form and signed it declaring that all the info you provided to them are genuine, you have given them your bank statement, all they are doing is to call your bank to verify the info you have given them already willingly. So the issue of having access to the amount you have in your account doesn't hold water anymore because its in the bank statement you submitted. All the embassy is doing is to verify those info you claimed to be genuine and your bank can only confirm it to be true or false. The embassy is not calling your local bank or the agent who doctored the 'oluwole' bank statement, they are calling the head office to verify. |

I think its important that we don't mislead people here, the banks corporate with the embassies to make sure that individuals does not implicate them in any fraud, the banks disclose the amount you have in your account if that is the line of enquiry from the embassy. The UK embassy has started publishing the list of banks that they don't accept bank statement from (though Nigeria is not in the list yet) because those banks have collaborated with some applicants to cheat the system. And can we stop calling the name of God when we are in the processing of committing fraud? |
