fishhooks: Thank you Justwise for your advice. All these has been duly noted. My husband wants to come to the UK for the Easter holidays. His mom and brother live in the UK but we didn’t use them which was a big mistake because they all have the same name. I won’t want us to use them now so that they don’t think he wants to leave Nigeria by all means.
That was really missed opportunity, using his mom and brother would have been better during the initial application. Using them now will raise alot of questions, for e.g, why did he not use them before or mention that in his initial application. . . .
visanewbee: @justwise Thanks for your relentless efforts on this thread men! May you never be tired of answering our questions oh Just a quick one.
1. I currently work as a consultant and i get paid monthly no payslips is given but my bank statements shows the payments from my company accordingly. will I be cool with just presenting my statements and letter from my company?
2. Although I have a tax card from my previous employer, (2years ago) I don't have any tax fillings from my current employment can I just ignore submitting tax documents?
3. My current employment is not exactly a full time employment - it is more like an appointment that is renewable every year and i have renewed twice now. my current contract expires in November 2012. I have a feeling that the ECO might consider it as a non-permanent job, do you share my thoughts on this?
Thanks men (sorry it wasn't a quick one after all ).
Since you are in a payroll of a company then you don't need to bother about tax clearance, the company pays the tax while you get net-pay. Explain the issue of payslip in your form though since the company's name appears in your bank statement that will do.
Since you have an ongoing contract with the company that will be considered as tie to Nigeria but remember to attach the contract document and letter from the company to your application package.
fishhooks: Hello everyone Well done on the wonderful job that you are doing here with all the valued advice you give. My husband was denied a visa last year because of the following reasons by the ECO: • The amount he stated he receives as a monthly income did not reflect what was going in his account. The reason for this is a lot of money is taken from his salary before the balance is paid for things such as ajo (collection), office upkeep • He did not present a pay slip because the company he works for does not issue one so the ECO said he couldn’t accept what he said he earns • He applied for a family visa and put my uncle down as the person he is going to stay with but when the ECO called my uncle to ask who my husband was to him, my uncle said family friend so the ECO took it as a lie but the truth is that he won’t refer to my uncle as anything else. • The ECO said my uncle did not show evidence of his job in the UK. All ,my uncle sent was a letter of IV and a copy of his British passport • The ECO was suspicious that he was not married at that time. He asked my uncle when he called but not my husband. Now, he has decided to apply again and whilst his status has changed (we got married in Aug), his salary hasn’t and it is not a lot (100k a month). We want to make sure we do everything right to ensure he gets the visa. Can you please advice if he should say he is sponsoring himself on the little he earns or if he can at his age (40) get someone to sponsor him and what documents would he need to provide? We intend to address all the points made by the ECO for his previous refusal. Please help !
I think your uncle messed things up for your hubby's application, sending the IV and his British passport is not enough, he needs to send him things like. . . payslips/bank statement and evidence of accommodation for your hubby. Your hubby also need to write down his travel plans, things he plan to do in the UK.
He should not forget to address those issues raised by the ECO this time around, like the employer not giving payslip and stuff.
As per this N100K salary, the ECO has to consider the importance of his travel and the financial implication to him in Nigeria as a family man.
leicester2: @justwise, thank you for your attention, i sent you an email regarding a contact i can write the british embassy at. will be glad if you have anything on this. thank you
igbo2011: I am talking about America not Nigeria. WHy is it that during world history America learns about China, RUssia, Europe, SOuth America, Middle East and not Africa? Why not aboutThe only thing they talk about Africa is slavery and the pyramids (credit given to Arabs). Why not the great African empires? This is why many people don't respect Africans. THey think Africans are inferior people because of the media and history only taught them about slavery. This is why many African Americans are in jail, they just feel inferior and they are trained to believe that they are great. "They only claim to glorify the Europeans, saying Africans are only 3/5ths of human beings!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpipOqP_1C0
Some times i struggled to understand why you keep misleading yourself, is slave trade not part of African history? South African not part of Africa? Yes majority of African Americans are in jail and that is partly because African Americans are more likely to go into drug dealing, gun war, robbery and all sorts of violent, we can try to spin it the way we want but the facts still remain that Africans/blacks are hugely to be blamed for our problems.
Majority of shooting/ stabbing incidents that happens in London alone are among blacks and yet we cry about lack of opportunities, who would want to employ a thug with bag full of criminal records?
werlay: @justwise, What I was made to understand is that the accomodation cost is been added to the living expense. The accomodation cost is 119 per week. So doing the math for an 8months course wuld cost aproximately 3810. Then it wuld be deducted from the 5400 wch is like 1600 wch shud be my maitanance money, Except otherwise that's wat I have for my maintance money,
Need more advice Thanks
Your calculate is right though its not 8months, its 9months, get the receipt of the accommodation payment and attach it to your visa application package.
£119 a week is pretty expensive. . . though school accommodations are always expensive, renting privately would have saved you quite alot, . . £70 to £80 a week including all the bills.
kayb2gx: Special tnx to justwise, and everyone dat has contributed to this page one way or the other. I've bbeen codedly following this thread for upto three months before appplying for my Visa, and seriously getting a tier 4 visa is d easiest. werlay: Hi justwise, I have been granted admission to Nottingham Trent. I wanted to pay the initial deposit bt decided to pay evrything in full so I don't go thru the stress of waitin for 28days. I av asked the bank to pay both the tuition fee nd accomodation fee. Would I need any sort of acct statment taken for visa?
Some of you peeps are so reactionary. Why don't you read and understand before spewing nonsense. No the US congress is not planning to censor the internet. The Stop Online Piracy Act is a bill supported by large entertainment and recording corporations to control piracy. The problem is that it won't work. They had a similar bill in Congress which failed just last year. And this bill will also fail. Trying to compare the BILL (not a law) to laws in place in regimes like China and Iran which censor political and religious speech on the internet is simply disingenuous.
Thank you!!, you are the only sensible contributor here.
Folks here read the headline without knowing what the details are and start embarrassing themselves by saying all sorts of garbage.
royalkleen: Is there any age limit for M.Sc progamme in U.k schools? Have somebody of forty years planning to study in U.K for postgraduate study this year!
There is no age limit, a family friend was 40 + when he did his Msc couple of yrs ago.
ell77: @JustWise - Here is a update, pls can you put it in the first post?
Thanks:
CHANGE: Further changes from April 2012 From April 2012, the following changes will also be made, as previously indicated in the statement of intent published on 31 March 2011: • Work placements - these will be restricted to one-third of the course, unless the course is at degree level and the sponsor is a higher education institution or the student is on a study abroad programme. • Time limits in Tier 4 - we will limit the time students can spend at degree level to 5 years, with certain exemptions for longer courses and doctorates at higher education institutions. • Tier 1 Post-study work - this will be closed from April 2012, however we will retain a route into sponsored graduate employment through Tier 2 of the points-based system.
Happylife: Many thanks to all for your contributions and suggestions. I have made up my mind never to change my ID nor give any false info as far as this issue is concerned. I guess I will have to forget about schooling in the US and look elsewhere (maybe Canada or Australia). Whenever I am ready to reapply, I will do that using my correct details without any fear. If i am denied visa, life goes ON! However, my reapplication will not happen until i have waited for 10 years between when my first application happened and when my next application will take place. Going by my calculation,it's just about 3 years away. The rationale behind the time frame is borne out of the fact that I will have moved on with my life and probably got some other things done before giving US another thought rather than wasting my time on US visa afterall it's not the only country with good educational system and standard of living.
@sensiosu, like i previously suggested, I think you should give the ''waiver of inadmissibility stuff'' a trial since your spouse is an American citizen.
Once again, I appreciate you all for your brotherly concerns, Please let's keep robbing minds.
That is a very responsible decision, travel elsewhere for your studies, build up your immigration profile then try US later in life if you want, you will stand a much better chance with a clean record. Good luck.
visanewbee: @Justwise i need you advice on this. - I studied for my Bsc at a UK University as a Distant Learning Student and Have completed my course. - I am planing to attend my Graduation Ceremony in March 2012. - I have previously been refused VISA to the UK in 2009 when i tried to apply with my wife, - The reason for the refusal then was;
[li] there was a lump sum of money deposited into my account that does not corroborate with my claimed salary (this was actually because my employer then does not pay salary frequently and sometimes has to pay 3months at the same time) [/li] [li]the second reason was that my wife claimed to be self-employed in the application but there was no business document to support her claim (She makes cakes) [/li]
- My Status has changed significantly since then, I now earn 300k monthly as a consultant for the last 1 year - I have a balance of about 700k on my account - I intend to travel for just three day to attend my graduation and do shopping - My employer does not give payslip but my account shows payment from my employer. - I can get a reference letter from my employer to support my application. - I have an invitation letter from My School to attend my graduation ceremony
Kindly Advice on my chances and possible documents that i may require to package my application.
Thanks
Its 50/50 situation, the ECO may argue that your school can as well post the certificate to you since its distance learning program, that said, you could be issued a visa as well, please don't forget to tick yes when asked if you have been refused visa before and explain what happened.
Make your accommodation arrangement, make list of things you intend to do with the remaining days after the graduation, letter from your employer is important, your family ties. . .pictures, marriage cert, etc.
bolame: @justwise na wa for you o which one be looking and overlooking it definatly toju can put his pics here if he wanted to or not and nobody can tell him it is unneccesary if he feel it Ok for him to post the pics and someone also mention here that he can try to find his family thru the media e.g television station Nta, Stv etc and i think that would help

First you need to check if the school is registered with UKBA? If its not registered the BHC will not recognise the letter or qualification issued by them. If you don't mind i can check that out for you.
WAVixen: There is no big deal about posting your picture here! I guess you just want to prove to us as being authentic/ real. @ Nairalanders, I know there are some dubious people amongst us, but lets try and balance our thoughts and opinions. Not EVERY Nigerian has scam at the back of his/her mind. The snide comments remarks are becoming irritating. Lets come of that holier than thou attitude.
@ Poster, try and get as much information as you can from your mum. Did your father have any friends while in Germany? Those you saw on face book did you try and contact them and ask if they knew/ are related to your father? Be wise as you have been warned. All you need is information, so use that to your advantage.
Good luck.
Its important to remind you that i'm completely entitled to my opinions here just as you are, if my comments here bugs you down then over look it.

When are we going to invest this amount of energy to fight Boko Haram? I have a cynical feeling that fuel subsidy got little to do with all these ant-Jonathan campaign.
