malel1: When I see people trying to discourage people from travelling, I see those people as been mischievous. There is no way u migrate to a country legally go to school there, and make ur grades. and u wont make it. This comment here shows how little you know about what you are talking about. To start with..studying in US will cost you more than 4.8M naira which is about $12K plus. A lot of people have this mind set that one must make it if you travel abroad, this is narrow minded and shortsighted thinking. As somebody who has been a way for more than 10yrs now i can honestly tell you that you have no clue about what you are talking about. Not everybody that travels abroad end up 'making it'. So you need to think long and hard before making the initial huge financial and time investment to start afresh in a foreign land |

pokipoki: That's not the point. You are getting everything twisted. Recall that the whole argument was about about free medications for Nigerian students in the UK. Recall that my argument on surcharges is that the it covers only for emergencies ( which covers your admission in hospitals) and consultation. Other than than that, you have to pay for drugs. So tell me what is free about the medications, if you don't get admitted to a hospital? After all its not every illness that gets you admitted in hospitals. ..and my point to you is that surcharge does not only cover emergency medical treatments, pre-planned operations are free, child birth is free, check ups with your GP is free. £8.60 is just a flat rate service charger by pharmacies and not the cost of the actual drug are you given. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to know that those drug you are given cost far more than £8.60 |

pokipoki: Nope. Because my condition was never been termed as an emergency. Get yourself admitted then you will be given a free drug. |

pokipoki: Hahahaha. That's not true. I have never been given free drugs. The only thing NHS did was to run free blood test which took about a week for the result to come out. Had to wait a week for the result or pay a private lab for the blood work. Have you ever been admitted in any NHS hospital before? |

pokipoki: Citizens don't pay for their drugs, it's free for them. So if one pays £8.60.for drugs. It's not free then. This buttresses my claim that the surcharge is for consultation and maybe emergency. Again that is not true, citizens pay unless you are on benefit. That £8.60 is a standard charge no matter how many drugs on the prescription list given to you by your GP. It was introduced to cut down on wastage as many people don't bother using the drug. NHS is free, pharmacies charges that £8.60 for drug prescription |

pokipoki: Don't know when you finished school in the UK, but it's clearly written in the visa and resident permit "No public funds". The medical surcharge covers for only emergency and I think GP consultations which includes tests. The drugs you have to buy at a pharmacy. That is referring to claiming any form of student loan or other govt funded benefits. |

DSSHQ: Hello Justwise and everyone here. I have an issue I want you all to help me clarify. A family member has a UK master's degree some years back. He wants to go for another one now simply because he has got funding from some external sources. His masters degree is different from the one he has applied for now. I doubt if the UK embassy will grant him another tier 4 visa. Though , the university has admitted him after successfully proving that his new course is needed for career progression. I adviced him to go to another country but he is bent on going to the UK because of the short duration of a UK degree. What are the chances that he wil be granted another tier 4 visa? Thanks. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/606685/T4_Migrant_Guidance.pdf

Mcowubaba: Possibly your right.. Though I will still confirmed this directly from the HomeOffice.
My dad did most of applications and payments then.. I was a bit naive and much younger then. Medical insurance was not part of visa requirement at that time so your daddy got scammed or he did it willingly |

Because it's not like that here I really don't know why she has to return to Nigeria for the treatment, even as somebody holding visiting visa you will still be treated without deposit but the bill will be sent to you after you left the hospital. Really sad. |

Mcowubaba: Don't know about now, but when I went to UK in 2007, I payed for medical insurance... I'm talking based on personal experience. Unless I was duped Yes you were because foreign students are not asked to buy any medical insurance by the HomeOffice or the school. It was only about 2yrs ago that NHS subcharge was introduced which is just £150 a year. |

Speeddial: Student Visa Saving 200k monthly for the next two yrs is not even enough to pay fees in US. One thing that caught my eyes reading your post was how lucky you are to be able to save 200K a month after expenses in Nigeria. If you have a job that you earn enough to save 200K monthly then you are pretty rich. |

Speeddial: Saving 200k monthly after every expense from January next year is my dream. I have sat down to reason, and saw that this won't be feasible in 10years if I remain in Nigeria.
So I came up with moving to the US as an investment I should make. According to my research I found that the minimum wage in the States is $10 per hour, that means if I work 10 hour each day I will earn 950,000 naira in a month.
Now my dream can be achieve with ease, I need advice from people who live in the US. What sort of visa are you planning to move to US with? |
