onoja12: On the books yes it isn't suppose to be so,but right now i am telling you that 90% of all Nigerian diplomat and there families are holding dual citizenship, and they are hardly moved, its only ambassadors that get changed from time to time. That again is not true, by law diplomats are not allowed to taken up citizenship of another country while serving as diplomas, they can only do that after resigning from their jobs. Yes diplomas get moved, standard diplomatic posting duration is 3yrs, lucky ones do get a year or two extension or cross-posted to another country but that is rare. |

TCann: @JUSTWISE
Good day to all the gurus in the house.I am back.
Kindly help with your perspectives on the below ques.
Q.1I want to apply for myself, my wife and childrenIn this VISA4UK form that they are currently testing- there is "Apply for myself', "Apply for someone Else", how do I apply for my wife and children?Being the sole sponsor and wanting the embassy to know that we are all applying as memebers of the same family, should I open different forms for her and the children one by one or use my log in and click 'applying for someone else' on my own application form page for each of them?
Q.2 My GTbank ATM card successfully paid for my visa fees but I am having issues using it to comfirm my London hotel booking as the hotel kept saying they cannot charge the card. There is sufficient funds on the account to cover the hotel bill and the card has been used in the past to pay for online foreign purhases- both in the UK and US. What should I do considering the fact that I have keyed in this hotel details on my own application form which I have already paid for.Thank you all for your anticipated responses. 1.Though i haven't used the online application system as i got no need for it but if there is a button for ''applying for someone'' then use it to apply for other family members, what matters is the details and not who made the application. Alternatively open another form for each person. 2. Since you have used the card to make successful booking before then contact the hotel with your details to register your complain, they will sort that out. |

ulale: @justwise, please sir, that seperate letter you advice people to attach in their general visitor visa application, it should be typed or hand written is okay? Thanks Yes if the space provided for additional info is not enough for all you want to write then use separate paper to complete it, it could be typed or hand-written, if your hand writing is not good then type it. |

onoja12: My brother the politician do more than does people from the ministry,99% of everybody from the ministry have taken up citizenship in the country they work,so they don't care about Nigeria.it is simple because the Ministry does not move them, they are in one place for almost all there life, they have no over sight, nobody checks them and there is no way for the Association to report to the ministry of forgein affairs, even if you do the ministry does nothing about it.so it is a total failure. This is not true, diplomas can not take citizenship in the country they work, even their kids can't. Diplomas report back to their office in Nigeria monthly and could be recall back if they are not performing |

s3nn2x: I am sorry...are you sure you know what you are saying. Which Nigerian diplomat are you talking about. You hide behind your phone and talk nonsense. Nigerian diplomat do not spend unlimited time abroad. They spend 3 years in the Mission, then they are recalled to HQ where there spend 3 years also. So where you get your information is baffling. Some spend more than 3yrs, in some cases their posting could be extended by a year or so or even cross-posted to another country without returning back to Nigeria. |

Caspery: Hello everyone
I and my husband intend travelling to the UK for vacation/our belated honeymoon during our leave from work. I was a regular visitor to the UK (Student Visa & 2yrs Tourist Visa afterwards) until 2012 the year it expired and haven't renewed since then due to work(I got a job in late 2011 and had not seen the need to travel until now that I am married)
My husband has never been to the UK before and has a fresh passport, so we both want to apply as a couple. We are both working in good organisations.
My questions go like this: 1. Should mine be a visa renewal or fresh applcation considering the duration since my visa expired ( 2012).
2. Can I still apply for 2yrs and 6 mths for my husband?
3. My previous visas carry my maiden name but I would be renewing my int'l passport soon to my new last name. How do I go about informing them of the change?.
4. What are all the requirements/documents that we need to proceed.
Thanks for your awaited response 1. There is no difference between renewing and first application, the same process. 2. You can apply for 5 years visa since your last one was 2yrs then 6months for your hubby 3. Somewhere in the form you will be asked if you have held any other name previously..use that space to state your previous name or use the blank space on the form to make a note of that, though your marriage certificate will take care of that. 4. Visa requirements hasn't changed as you have applied before, the only difference now is the online application and payment. The same way you gathered the documents for the 2yrs visa application is the way you will do now. |

Nita2013: Justwise I feel it's a 50/50 thing. She MIGHT inform d embassy (which will be like 2months or so after getting d visa) and get her visa revoked just like Chigoziri.
Secondly, there is high probability that she ll scale tru stress free POE like JFK, Dallas etc
Someone rightly said that it's an obvious case of visa fraud cos she was so pregnant during d interview and her intention was for birthing but she said vacation.
Pls I 'd love to read ur opinion and advice as well. Chigoziri case is out of the picture here, she categorically lied at the interview when asked if she was pregnant then later sent a letter the embassy stating her intent to use the visa for child birth...that is a clear case of misrepresentation. Its not the same case with the one we are discussing. |

I agree with Nita2103 on this. I remember that her moniker, she was on this thread a year ago...
Nita, her name is Chigoziri, I still remember clearly, that letter did her in.
Please let her go through New York and pray not to be questioned. You should also go with her if you can. You can then leave her there.
If NY is far from her destination, she can rest in an airport hotel (with pick up and drop off service) for a day or two and pick a local flight to her destination (I recommend South West airlines cos of luggage allowance and relatively cheap fares).
Its better to be safe than sorry, that letter has a 90% chance of getting her visa revoked.
If that is the case then what do you think will happen at the POE? |

This is solely my personal opinion. No grudges. Also, I only shared my personal POE stories just in case it might help someone. Thanks. Bro those cases are not related. Why are people afraid of contacting the embassy and rather try their luck at the POE? |

fayemzbaba: Hello nairalanders,
And so I have been silently learning from y'all and I really want to commend everyone who has at some point given pointers, shared personal experiences for the success of fellow expecting mums and Dads.
My situation goes thus, wife had previously travelled to the US (visa obtained while she was in the UK), but was denied twice on renewal because she had an issue at ATL POE ( was stopped and visa almost got cancelled) but was later allowed to continue her trip but I am sure it was recorded because it was mentioned in her interviews. she is 27 weeks pregnant and plan to use Oakbend Medical Centre, I have contacted Dr Fagbohun and he has accepted to cater for her delivery. My issue is this;
a. At the third attempt she was issued the visa for vacation as stated in her application but was not questioned if she was pregnant or expecting and she didn't disclose since she wasn't asked (probably due to fear of being denied again) as she wasn't really showing.
b. Visa was issued in February and she is due in May; I am of the opinion she should send a letter of change on intent to the US Consulate notifying them she intends to have a baby in the US. That she wasn't decided on having the baby in the US initially when applying for the US visa but has a change of mind and wants to. In order to avoid POE issues, proof of funds, and Dr's appointment is not an issue at this point but I hope the reason stated is (b) above is viable to avoid any allegations of visa fraud or not disclosing true intent of applying for the visa.
Constructive opinions please.
Thanks everyone and any mum due in May/June with a 2 bedroom apartment to share in Richmond or Sugarland should also contact me. abbyode: I dont really agree that u will be sent back home at POE because of failure to write a letter of intent. Plans do change. Look at my own scenario, my wife has gone to US twice in with her initial visitor's visa. The visa was to expire in April ending at the same time she will be due to give birth. Obviously the visa will expire before leaving the US around May thereabouts. Several suggestions came that she should not renew the visa here for possibility of getting refused coz shez now pregnant and all that. Another school of thought said it doesnt matter as she will be stamped in for 6 mths at the point of entry etc. At the end of the day, I looked at the whole case OBJECTIVELY and i acted without any intent to lie. She applied for renewal (drop box) in February that she would be going on vacation. Afterall, there is nothing like pregnancy visa and giving birth may as well qualify for going on vacation(maternity leave). She was given another two years without sneezing. Remember, there was no interview, meaning no opportunity to see her pregnancy. At the POE in atlanta two weeks ago, we were there together and i was the one answering questions: VO: Why are you here? ME: On vacation, and my wife will stay back to give birth (Pure truth) VO: Have you contacted any doctor? ME: Yes VO: Do you have any evidence? ME: Yes, and i handed him the letter from the doctor (Mwhile, we have made some part payment of the doctor's fees alone) VO: How much do you have with you? ME: $1100 VO: Is that all you have with you? ME: Yes, but I have some funds on my Mastercard (Showed him my Union Bank Card) VO: Where would you be staying? ME: with my Sister VO: Stamped my passport, handed it over to me. Stamped my wife's passport and put in a yellow bag and called a lady . The lady took us to another office, i think for secondary inspection. We were alone in one room. Then they called my wife. (Now first time she was gonna talk herself) After few mins she came back. VO: Why are you in the US? My wife: To deliver a baby VO: How much do you have with you? My wife: $1100 VO: He checked the declaration form (we wrote same amount there) The visa officer asked her to go back and have a seat. 2 mins later, he called the two of us out. VO: (Handed my wife her passport) VO: Good luck with the baby, rmber to collect all the receipts. My wife: Thank you. Then we left. Next time, she will appear at POE all she has to do is to have zero balance letter handy just in case she requires it. Plans do change. Just make sure that whatever you are saying is nothing but the truth per time. Thank you, hope this helps someone. We plan to use Gwinnett hospital though. Any experience to share as per Gwinnett? Thanks. Are those two cases the same? |

Thanks everyone and any mum due in May/June with a 2 bedroom apartment to share in Richmond or Sugarland should also contact me. Your wife has a history already and refusing to inform the embassy in this occasion will not help her case. She was clearly pregnant during the interview and refused to disclose that, it's even better to face the embassy in Nigeria than been sent back at POE. Let her get all required documents then send the embassy an email with those documents attached. Whatever the reply is will be better than the ugly experience at the POE. |
