swtchicgurl: thanks for this question!
if she travels back to nigeria, does the duration of stay reset? like, does it start counting all over?
this is a question i've been trying to get an answer to, becausse i don't want a case where she will travel back to naija and will be denied a return (assuming the duration of stay on visa period were cumulative). The visa is valid for 3 months but you can only stay 30days in each visit, just like the UK, you are given 6months visa but can only stay 90days maximum in each visit. So she can return and travel back again for the seminar with the same visa without seeking any permission from French embassy. |

worry359: Sorry but you are wrong. They do not have to "break in" They will just send a court summons to fine you. It's then up to you to defend it in court. (big cost) even if innocent. They have lots of power! No they can't, as no-one is legally obliged to co-operate with TV Licensing, and nobody goes to prison for evading TV license. |

gcey2k: Good afternoon all, I just received a mail notifying the occupants of my flat of not paying for TV license after several warnings. That they will send some people to come check the house for any evident of TV usage which might lead to court prosecution. I along with two other friends just rented that flat last Sunday and we dont use any TV.
I know the mail may have been intended for the previous occupants of the room. I have the option to call them to notify them of this but I still want to ask of the best way to approach such issues.
Furthermore, they stated that even if you watch TV with other devices like PCs and mobile phones, you are still required to pay the license. My question is does this include Live Match Streaming? And maybe Video (Music/Movie) online watching? Cos that's the only thing I and my flatmates do. And we have subscribed for that with our wi-fi provider.
We have some old TVs stored somewhere in the house that I dont know if they are working. Hope this will not be a sort of negative evidence should there be an investigation?
Thanks.
cc Justwise, SpikesC, DisGuy, Well the notice is for the previous occupant...but as regards to your case....if you don't have TV then you don't watch one, trying to ask somebody to pay tv license because the person watches some clips on laptop is just crazy and way out of order. They need to break-in to catch you watching tv on your laptop first before asking you to pay jack. |

LadyGuinivere: My answer is predicated on experience. For my husband's form I made a mistake. Saw it in the print I made after submission. Filled another form.Called them and they changed it. So yes its possible to 'edit' a form after submission in that sense Its not even an issue since she will be attending an interview, that can be corrected there. |
Travel › Re: Usa Visit Visa by justwise(mod): 1:46pm On Jan 24, 2015 |
chloe7: you can't edit the form that is already submitted na, I mean that if I fill another ds-160 how do I change the ds-160 number on the one I used to book appointment When i said editing...i'm talking about emailing or calling them to make the necessary changes, you maybe asked to do that on your interview day. |
Travel › Re: Usa Visit Visa by justwise(mod): 1:31pm On Jan 24, 2015 |
chloe7: Justwise and LadyGuinivere so it means it's possible to fill another ds-160 form before the interview and call the callcentre to effect the changes? I'm not sure if filling another form is the answer, editing the existing one should be the right thing to do. |

lastpage: You need to learn to think straight!
All your comments on this issue shows where your interest lies. NOT being the only one facing such problem is not an excuse for her to not try to solve her own problem the way she knows how to go about it. The fact that someone wants to die in a Boko-infested place does not mean every other person must act in the same stewpid manner.
As dangerous as Borno state is as of today, you will still find some Igbos still staying-put there! To somebody like you, they should be killed since they did not "hear word" but for them, l think they have their own "valid reasons" for still staying-put.
Thank God you are not the Secretary to the Home Office otherwise, you would have ordered the Deportation of all Nigerians living abroad!
At times, l just imagine, if the tables were turned and we Nigerians are in the position of these "white folks", our own wickedness for no get Part 2!
Like said, its just a waiting game, that Boy aint going NO WHERE!
Lastpage! You obviously like hearing your own voice and ranging with sentiment, her excuse does not add up, BH and kidnapping are not a genuine excuses because millions of Nigerians are surviving even with those problems. BH operation does not affect all part of Nigeria, kidnappers targets mostly the wealthy ones only if she is suggesting that she is rich and needed to run away from kidnappers. If she is given asylum because of those two half barked excuses then many Nigerians with student or visiting visa will use that as a benchmark. There is no need writing pages of stories here for British govt, forward it to Nigerian govt. |

lastpage: Nigerians! SO HATEFUL.... even to a little Boy of 5yrs!
Granted she might have exaggerated her claims but why say she is the one giving Nigeria a BAD NAME?
*Was she the one that kidnapped 250 young girls from their school? *Was she the one that dropped Container on people's head in Ketu, Lagos? *Was she the one that beheaded a whole village in Bagga, Borno state? *Was she the one that raided all the Banks in Ikare, Ekiti State, killing over twenty people, including law enforcement officers? *Was she the one that is looting the National Treasury on a daily basis? *Was she the one responsible for 'darkness' in the nation and the attendant fire hazards resulting from usage of Petrol ,Power Generators? *Is she the one that turned Nigerian Hospitals to Morgues where you go in alive and come out a corpse? *Is she also responsible for all the PDP Vs. APC killings making the rounds all over the country? *Is she the one killing Nigerian Soldiers in the North? *Was she responsible for Biafran failure, was she responsible for OPC mayhem or the Niger Delta militancy and kidnappings?
..I can go one for ever but one thing is sure, HATE THAT LITTLE BOY AS MUCH AS YOU WANT, HE HAS ALREADY SEEN AND LIVED A BETTER LIFE THAN MOST OF YO HATERS!
Sometimes, l wonder what is wrong with Nigerians and their mentality in recent years so much so that most lack any modicum of morality! Nigerians live the important things but chase after very unnecessary things.
I can bet anyone here, that boy will be back in U.K (assuming he has been deported already) because the Brits are not as "hatefully wicked" as the current generation of Nigerians living in that H-hole of a country, they st times will show human compassion unlike my fellow Nigerians.
When he is back, the lot of you will still be doing your "suffering and smiling" and hoping God will come down from heaven to come and solve your problems for you (even though he gave you a brain, like he gave every other humanbeing) not knowing that God sees the wickedness of your hearts ....and it is sure folly, to plant "weed" and expect to harvest '"flour".
Purge yourself of Evil thoughts...God cannot be mocked.
Lastpage! Take a deep breath bro, you are barking up the wrong tree. Yes everything you listed there happened in Nigeria but she is not the only Nigerian facing the problem. So one can argue that she got no solid case using those as an excuse. |

Yes Nigeria has security problem but there are plenty other safe places in Nigeria if she is a northern. If she is given an asylum based on Boko Haram then the floodgate has opened for many more Boko haram related asylum claims. |

swtchicgurl: That's what I thought too. Even after looking online, the possibility of getting the extension will depend on how well one is able to convince the authority involved.
Providing the two letters, will that suffice? Because I read somewhere online that extension will hinge on "an unforseeable reason as at the time of leaving the country". This was not the case exactly. with the letters will they be convinced?
Also, I learnt it is impossible to get that extension in France. But some other scheghen countries like belgium and Germany provide the option strictly based on conviction too... But how will one go about this?!!!! there's no info about the processing...other requirements or fees, if it can be done online or to travel there etccc!
I just tire!
Thanks for ur response, I still look forward to any information and assistance possible. Her case is slightly different, the extension is for the 30days and not for visa it self, the visa is still valid, all she need is the permission to stay longer than 30days indicated, getting a extension on visa itself is close to impossible unless on serious health reasons. The two letter will help, her company can submit it at French embassy in Nigeria. |

swtchicgurl: Thank you for your responses!
First, she's a worker who just travelled for a seminar. The seminar was postponed for a few weeks. The visa period of three months still covers the new training dates, but the "duration of stay" indicated on the visa is 30 days which will be exhausted before the end of the seminar. To complete the seminar, she will need more than 30days. Visa validity (3 months) extension is NOT necessary, just the Duration Of Stay (30 days) is d major concern.
The essence of duration extension is to complete the purpose of the trip. Which is critical. She is working class too.
Pls note that her company has been informed to see how they can help but no response yet and time is running out seriously.
Any possible help will be seriously appreciated.
Cc justwise worry359 Ok i get that now, she needs get a letter from the organizers indicating that the conference has been postponed and a letter from her company authorizing her to stay back for the seminar, both letters will be sent to embassy for change of circumstances. She can do it or her company. |
