One of the t hi.gsm with cars is that if you mess up the anti theft sometimes you need to have 2 keys to restart the car if you have one key or is safer to get a spare from dealership before a big mishap. Manufacturers don't have software or tools everywhere for people to make their own keys otherwise thieves will be stealing those cars every time.


If this was a stolen car do you think I will help make this easy when the anti theft has kicked in.

The big picture here us if you lose a key to a newer car only dealer is authorised to make new keys and in some cars you need 2 good keys before you car program a spare .

@OP, Toyota says they can no longer guarantee your car's handling if you raise it. If you are hard pressed to raise it, tie a small stone underneath your throttle pedal as a speed check

I also carry out a little buying and selling on the side, etc...

But the salary is a constant, K and the only one I am sure of every month and the only one I make my plans/budget around, because, no matter as e bad reach, by 27th - 31st, e go done fall in. I hope you get my drift?

It is the latter, but efficiencies are typically measured on vehicles.

The 2gr is tuned for efficiency you say, all I wanted to prove was that with the advancements in engine technology, a smaller 2 litre turbo charged inline 4 is just as efficient, quick and has high mpg whilst destroying the larger engine in performance.

I know about gearing and final drive ratios but my point still stands, he asked for an engine more efficient and I gave him one. One that was created whilst Toyota sat on their past reputation with gullible clients who kept drinking the kool-aid.

I could have responded with Mercedes turbo 2.0 in the CLA & GLA 45 AMG,

Hps are determined using SAE standards at the crank, and that's what we are talking about. You did not read where I said other factors come into play after the crank?

N20B20 gets 240hp at the crank, and 2GR-FE gets 269hp at the crank. Granted that the rpms vary, but these do not change if driven with stock ECM, tuning and manufacture's recommended RON.

Everyone (well, except you) knows BMW is rather conservative with HP figures. So their 240hp is more powerful and efficient than Toyota's 269hp.
Let me even break it down further for you. The Camry (XV50) weighs 1,551 kg and the North American 328 (F30) weighs 1570kg.
So, the heavier, under-powered BMW is faster than the lighter Camry in both 0 - 60 sprints and quarter mile times.

You are mixing it up friend. It is ignorance that will make you say that BM's 240hp is more powerful (and efficient) than a Toyota's 269hp. A meter is a meter; 1kg mass is 1kg mass; Jupiter or Pluto.

We are talking about raw engine power, and not drive trains. A 500hp is always a 500hp, be it from BM, Kia, or Bugatti. There are many other factors that can affect what a hp does to a vehicle - like transmission, propulsion, rims/tyres, weight, earodynamics, etc.

FYI, I have junior staff in my office earning about N40,000.00 who own and maintain their cars. How they do it? I don't know, but I know them personally, their salary levels and how they roll. All I meant was that its neither rocket science nor undoable to own or maintain a car with a take home of about a 100 grand in Naira.

40k as the only income and keeping a car on the road? Something must be wrong with my household!

Unfortunately, when atf is burnt, the damage is already done. You just buy time by changing the fluid. abatically offered a very useful tip - burnt atf is changed with utmost caution, and fingers crossed. DO NOT DRAIN ALL THE FLUID IN THE SUMP ONCE!

The burnt odour in the atf is attributed to worn brakes and clutches, and changing the fluid does not repair these - they have friction materials.

With time, you would need to get to the root of the cause - bad sensors, bad connectors, bad solenoids, leaking valves or plain aged friction materials!

And Yes, Toyota WS is readily available in Lagos. That plug underneath the sump is the drain plug. The rule is to use a new o-ring after each drain, but, you know na Good luck!

It is a lot cheaper replacing with a used transmission than trying to rebuild it. Rebuilding a transmission with genuine parts would cost between 200k -500k(or even more depending on the car) but the gear will end up being like a brand new tranny with warrantee. Buying a used tranny might not cost more than 100k and they do work (with a little bit of luck they might last a couple of years so far u check if the oil is not smelling bunt before buying ).
If anyone tells u he will rebuild ur transmission for less amount then be sure it will never be a clean job ans such jobs don't last up to e months before it goes back to square one.

Very true, though it could be much cheaper than 200k. The more the forward gears, the higher the cost of rebuild.

When I had problems with my '13 pin' (U151E) the Waziris sang the 10 pin song. I just don't understand how they expect me to replace a five speed with a four speed. What happens to the selection matrix mapped in the ECU?
