Christianity Etc › Re: Science Confirms The Bible by Kay17: 5:14pm On Apr 07, 2011
OLAADEGBU:
It was actually scientists that thought the earth was stationary. Then it was discovered in recent years that the sun is in fact moving through space at approximately 600,000 miles per hour. What did the Bible say? That the sun travels through the heavens and has a "circuit" (Psalm 19:6). Its circuit is so large that it would take approximately 200 million years to complete one orbit. If you don't know this fact then you are due for a science update.

As for Joshua's prayer, we are used to being earth centric in our discussions. We say that the sun rises and sets, even though we know that the earth actually revolves around the sun and rotates on its axis. Our point of reference determines how we discuss what we see.
As Joshua ordered the Sun to stay put, nothing would have happened as it has been waiting on earth ever since. U said; science said the earth was flat, i'm surprised, because u seem to confuse the Church for Science or prevailing thoughts of the time for Science. What was the proof, science lay for the flatness of the earth?

The Bible had always blamed spiritual agents for diseases, failed to discover microbes.

Other areas of conflict include evolution, date of the earth.

Kay 17, pls who are u to talk about standard. are u GOD? Definitely God has His standards and who are u to create one that God's servants are supposed 2 live up 2. Nobody is perfect. These men u just mentioned are humans and not angels. It is d Spirit of God and grace that is at work in them. God chose dis pple 2 carry out his work and they are changing lives, bringing pple into d kingdom. Anyway, I will say dis, why will u allow d devil 2 use u like dis. U know at d end his own home is sure but u decide wher u want 2 spend eternity. I blv d Holy Spirit is @ work in men of GOD and wen u insult them, u are treading on dangerous grounds. BEWARE AND BE WARNED. Read Psalm 51. thnx.
Exactly, no one is perfect that's why they can not be above scrutiny. Any body can claim to be a Man of God or Son of God, u shuld give them that immunity from criticism.

*1 >>> I see Undecided >>> That's something you want to doctor me to believe >>> you are the proverbial simpleton
I would advise you to read 7 wise quotes from The Bible (Prov 4:7, Prov 14:33, Prov 24:7, Eccl 7:19, Eccl 7:11, Eccl 9:18, Prov 17:24)

*2 >>> then ask neurosurgeons how they can tamper with people's brains (or cut them in half) without people getting 'split personalities' Cheesy >>> I think I've even read of a person getting 3 quarters of his brain chopped off and he was still behaving normally >>> also ask doctors how people's thought processes remain constant during sleep or coma >>> when they are clearly unconscious (of their environs)

*3 >>> meaning something and saying nothing useful
Don't worry keep the Bible, i've had enough junk for a lifetime.

There are portions of the brain responsible for different functions, cutting the pons bridge will deny the subject sleep. The portion for thought and consciousness if destroyed would create a vegetable. The medulla if destroyed then the whole brain shuts down! So without the brain no thoughts! if u find exception, pls share it.

Christianity Etc › Re: Are Olodumare And "god/allah" The Same Entity/concept/word? by Kay17: 7:08pm On Apr 06, 2011
Allah however is a noun, the true Name of the One God Who is the Creator of all things. Allah had power over all things. so Olodumare, if that is what you call the Creator in this case, then yes, Allah is Olodumare. He is the Sustainer, Unique, existing alone before anything else long before the beginning. He has no parents or children. He never dies, never tired, never wary, never sleeps. He is capable all the time, while all depends on Him, He depends on no one, needing no assistance, full of Power and Might. Aware of all, Full of Knowledge.
pls, how did get by this "fact"?

No Idolater will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven (fact). If you're bowing down to ANY image in the name of worship, you are heading for hell (thats what Jesus told the girl and it is also found in the Bible).
No you do not know, but you made a guess that approved your superstition. The little girl was either hallucinating or lying

^^ In my opinion, a healthy limit has to be placed on this priceless liberty and in this case its an expression of hatred. Modern societies are multicultural, spaces of self determination are provided, such as one to religion, sexual orientation etc. Where no one is rejected and able to realize himself or herself. The pastor, while enjoying his freedom to hold his ridiculous beliefs, showed so much disrespect to the personal affairs of others ( by burning a relic of their faith and purpose to their lives). Its similar to Nazi propaganda.

The reaction was down right primitive.
Christianity Etc › Re: THEHOMER: Now Lets Discuss The Big Bang & Time by Kay17: 8:02pm On Apr 05, 2011
I believe that Deepsight is referring to "real time" or the layman's time. By "real time" I mean the eternal time, the phenomenon onto which events happen; the time that every body intuitively knows but very hard to define, very hard to capture with words.

But when science talks about time, they talk about duration of events or measurement of events. Thus "scientific time" is different from "real time." Scientific time can be measured; it depends on the event or the speed of events; and hence it is not constant. It speeds up or reduces in speed depending on how fast the object or system in question travels
First I doubt if there is any difference between "scientific time" and "layman time". It is more or less a point of disagreement as to the definition of time. A party sees it as material, detectable and measurable while the other feels it eternal?!

Viewed from the perspective of "real time", the big bang is just an event and not really the birth or beginning of anything new. At best, the big bang can be described as the birth or beginning of our present universe. This universe will eventually colapse, decay, and remodel for another big bang. Each big bang is a beginning or a particular universe not the birth of any components of the universe. The same components exist and eternally passes through the cycles of birth(big bang) and decay.
This involves the problem of wild speculation, it cannot be said with any degree of certainty, what lay before the big bang.

By the way, I think I'm quite correct in supposing that the
Hindu caste system is a variant of what Nimrod (in the Bible) had in mind.
- After so many centuries of missionary work and education, it still remains quite pristine.
- Furthermore, much of what civilisation comes from is based from the philosophical and mathematical contributions of the Persian empire.
- If you do not know that present-day India is where all IT innovations originate (and not Silicon valley) u can never agree with my inferences as well. Research my claims in your local library and on Google to be sure.
Poor Christian History, there no portion in the bible relating to Nimrod plan to adopt a caste or similar system of class domination.
Christianity Etc › Re: THEHOMER: Now Lets Discuss The Big Bang & Time by Kay17: 6:11pm On Apr 05, 2011
The lack of evidence on the nature of time prior to Big Bang makes it extremely difficult point one's finger whether or not time existed. On Big Bang, no one knows what existed prior to the point of singularity, but time expanded with space/matter.
Christianity Etc › Re: THEHOMER: Now Lets Discuss The Big Bang & Time by Kay17: 5:21pm On Apr 05, 2011
First I agree that time is linear, in the sense that its moves continuously forward and irreversible. It connotes the past, present and the future. The present is withdrawn into the past, while the future becomes the present and so.

As a natural consequence, it would have had a starting point, a beginning and possibly an end (that I do not know). A world would time is outside my imagination, nevertheless there must have been a period whereby time would have been absence. The Big Bang sets out to explain the inception of this present universe and its physical properties. As most physicists posit, time is necessarily webbed with space and it is through this medium it operates.

Since time actually is measured by the change in things, in absence of matter or space, could one say time operates?

God is an idea? I can agree that this entity is only as real as an idea. Abstract! An object which owes its existence to the human mind.

The issue of afterlife has not being addressed by Uyi, are there really physical places such as heaven and hell? Are they detectable? To what limit is faith to take us?

Your "rituals", tithes and offerings are purely optional.

As to reasons to trust God, I won't give you any, as you will simply insult it and label it "nature", as if nature itself was not architected under an impeccable order as opposed to this chaos theory you people tend to believe in. A theory that when honestly and scientifically assessed, would have made some human beings evolve with their balls dangling from their foreheads or arms sprouting from their crotches. Not to mention the fact that some stray comet should have wiped us out by now with all those cosmic bodies flying around (one created an earth-sized whole in Jupiter a short while back).

There are other "reasons" that are personal to me. I won't have you insult those either.
I will however pray that the eyes of your spirit become open.

On that same chapter, watching or playing football on weekends is a sin. Also associating with babes that are menstruating, eating shrimps and snails. We can ignore this provisions since they are harmless.

We really do not need the bible to answer your question. We simply cannot be seen to be imitating animals:
- he-goats that sleep with their mothers ,
- female praying-mantises that kill their partners after mating,
- male dogs that sleep with just about any female dog in the vicinity,
- lions that kill the offspring of rival lions . . . the list goes on
It is deemed 'unnatural' because it does not align with Nature's (with capital N) objective, which is procreation
.

Humans write books and animals do not. This does not make writing 'unnatural'.
If it is written in Nature, then its natural! Sex is not only for procreation, it has social attachments and pleasure.
