Isn't there a dissonance between Islam and a republic? One wonders how successful Islam can be in a republic, which is inherently a secular idea.

Being one's self isn't hot cake. To get favorable responses from people generally, you have to cultivate an image and appearance which they see, judge and can relate with.

The good news is, we are free to create whatever identity we want. You can mold whatever image you want.

I feel romeo and juliet is not a love story but rather a show of foolishness!

What's your opinion?
You are correct. Shakespeare's audience thought it was foolishness and the death of the lovers was a warning to young people about their unguided feelings.

Is such foolishness possible today? of course.

Silly Nigerian government. Helicopter ko flying boat ni.
A wise govt will initiate a referandum in order to create peaceful coexistence of previously independent tribes.

Mumu-ness is when you think a people who were on their own but amalgamated by britian for their own selfish interest have no right to call for independence
But the so called tribes are themselves identities created by the British for three convenience of governing. Aside for the Fulanis, the Igbos and Yoruba have never been united, never had self sustaining institutions other than what the British has introduced.

But where is the divine respect for the free will? Especially when ayoku777 sees the exercise of freewill as a manifestation of justice.

God let's us reap what we sow. What's the issue there? That's justice.
Meaning if man disobeys God, God punishes him. Is that right?
Christianity Etc › Re: Im Confused Abt This Christian Theory... by Kay17: 1:52pm On Nov 29, 2015
ayoku777:
Ofcourse there is a moral reason behind freewill. Freewill makes where a man end up entirely his choice and doing. And that is justice.

With freewill you can obey or disobey the will of God. But whatever you do will be your choice. So you don't automatically manifest God's will when you exercise freewill.

You can use your freewill to disobey God and go against His will.

John 1v11 -He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

Acts 7v51 -Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

Yes, with our freewill we can alter God's will for our personal lives. God's will is not always done. Our choices can delay or even derail God's will for our personal lives.

It is not God's will for anyone to go to hell.

2Peter 3v9 -The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that ANY should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance.

The lake of fire was made for the devil and his angels -not for man.

[color=red] Matthew 25v41 -Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Lake or fire was prepared for the devil and his angels. And its not God's will for any man to end up there. Men end up there of their own freewill -against God's will.

So yes, God's will is not always done in our lives. We have a freewill, and what we do with it is our choice and the attendant consequence is our doing.

Shalom
Now you agree with me that sin is the disobedience of God's commands? If so, doesn't God punish the exercise of freewill in as far as it goes again God's commands?
Christianity Etc › Re: Im Confused Abt This Christian Theory... by Kay17: 11:42am On Nov 29, 2015
@ayoku777

Is there a great moral value behind the reason God give s man free will?

Doesn't man still manifest God's will by exercising it? Can a man alter God's plan by using his freewill?
Christianity Etc › Re: 10 Biblical Truths To Combat Temptation Of Lying As A Christian by Kay17: 9:28am On Nov 29, 2015
But don't you realize that Christianity is one big lie?!
Christianity Etc › Re: Im Confused Abt This Christian Theory... by Kay17: 9:16am On Nov 29, 2015
This leads to the question, are we really being saved or mere pawns in God's hands?

Since God's will is the predominant force in creation, and total arbiter, it makes logical sense to attach the ultimate responsibility for evil on the ironically Good God!

Adam and Eve couldn't have been total free with their wills. Their wills would have been a reflection of themselves. For example a violent person exercises violence in all his wills even as a religious cleric. Why he is violent is not because he wishes so, rather because he is himself violent.

Another contention I have is, for free will to truly occur, there must be complete wisdom in the actor. For example a car accident is not the true intent of the driver. The accident results because of a flaw in the driver's driving skills not because he wishes so. Similarly Adam and Eve due to poor judgment and lack of foresight, acted due to foolishness. Foolishness and bad judgment are flaws of the human character. Therefore we don't act freely when the flaws of our character interfere with our judgment.

true federalism will lead to diversification of the economy..As long as we keep practicing this current system, Nigeria will never diversify...get that into your head.
That is not true. China is not federalist state yet had a diversified economy whilst Switzerland a so called true federalist state is not diversified in its constituent regional economies.

You have been fed on lies.

Now imagine you open a company in Nigeria like Nairabet or a sales company, you could be liable for taxes in all the states and occur double taxation.

Or a power company dealing with 36 different legal and tax regimes, business must be really easy

At this rate, Naira on free fall, falling oil prices, inability to sell oil, Biafra agitation, Boko Haram moves, Governors inability to pay salaries, etc. I am sure that someone would soon call for CONFAB report. Except we continue to deceive ourselves, Nigeria's future lies ONLY on the CONFAB report. Whether we continue to massage the or masturbate around, the problem of structural imbalance will continue until we wake up.

The saying goes thus, "No matter how long you have travelled on the wrong road, the only way you can get to your destination is to stop and return to the right road". Nigeria has been travelling the wrong road in the past 55 years, the earlier we receive common sense and reverse our folly, the better.
Who will represent you at this CONFAB? Isn't it the same unimaginative elite? Besides if the country "decides" to split, wouldn't it be into more fictional countries which have never existed nor have a history? Besides most of the emerging countries will be unviable without seaports and oil revenue.

What the connective here? The system of govt presently practised is not responsible for the oil glut. True Federalism will not make the economic situation either.

But isn't the only criterion to be an atheist, not to believe in the existence of any Gods? Which will include a rejection of cosmologies in support of Gods also?

The validity of Christian cosmology is not dependent on the validity of an atheist attempt at cosmology.

God is the cause of the universe because Everything that exists has an
explanation of its existence, either in the necessity of its own nature or in an external cause. The ONLY explanation the universe has for it existence is God.

The only thing necessary for free will is the possibility to have the will to sin, not the possibility of being able to sin . Freewill is not a license to sin.
So a car which needs an external cause must be have as an immediate cause God?

Is sin a character flaw?

To be sincere, feminists admire and love men. They want to be like men, they love the masculine swagger, their independence, freedom and their lack of guilt, hence the "equality demand".

Equal to them, means look like men.

But men don't want to be women even for just one day. washing dishes for life, can be horrible.
Family › Re: Things That Bring About Failure In Today's Marriage. by Kay17: 7:06am On Nov 08, 2015
There is the subtle assumption here that a marriage is an end and not a means to completeness and happiness.

If you dismiss that assumption, marriages will not matter that much especially when they are too troublesome.

At least he thought it was supernatural and that God did him a favour. More importantly, he wants God to take his side by appeasing God in the same manner pagan Gods are appeased. At the end of the day, he expects good news and good deeds from his God.

This basic psychology is prevalent in all theistic religions. This drives the predominant belief in God.

At least the church gives the poor masses some sort of psychological relief from the harshness of their reality. Such service is priceless. They have the hope regardless of how counterintuitive it is.

Otherwise the poor would have revolted and eaten up the rich and political elite. Note that the Bible is against the spirit of rebellion and revolt.

Of course Empathy is not unconditionally good. Empathy with vegetative life could be destructive and unhelpful. Especially when such energy can be invested in more productive areas.

Uyi's persistent claims about the nature of consciousness, its causes and description are inadequate. It is not enough that empathy and consciousness share the same attribute of 'immateriality', it must be clear that one leads to the other.
