PoliticsRe: NYSC: Kemi Adeosun Not Legally Required To Participate by kayjay69(m): 7:12pm On Jul 07, 2018
Your name and Your commentary go hand in hand really. I agree that she must be investigated and if found guilty face the law. The real issue here is that she maybe FORGED an exemption certificate not whether the law exempts her from serving. However, to say she connived with Buhari and Osinbajo to plunge the country in recession, my brother you must be suffering from delusions grandeur.

I know we are quick to castigate this administration and in some cases rightfully so but on the issue of the economy, the recession came to be mainly as a result of the plunge in oil prices. We as a country have been heavily dependent on Oil as our major revenue earner. Successive admins have tried and failed heavily to diversify our economy away from this. You may contend that the response of this govt to the recession (which would have happened regardless of who was in govt) left a little to be desired but surely you can't blame them for the recession itself.

Juliusmalema:
what a lame assertion trying to defend the garbage she obtained from East-london...

Kemi Adeosun must be investigated now and she must resign and face the full wrath of the law....
No wonder she connived with buhari and osibanjo and plunged Nigeria into recession.
.......and it even took since months to appoint this ineffectual buffoon called kemi as minister............

A minster who keeps her job on forgery........

A minster who doesn't know that 22+2 is 24.....
Her actions is unprecedented in modern day civil service and must be condemned in strong terms....
how can a low born parading a low class certificate preside over a nations finance ministry.....
No wonder all her actions bleeds ineffectiveness and Bill Gate wondered when he visited Nigeria why such a low crass educated being should be a minister...
She has forged Nigeria and Nigeria treasury up to this day...

and u have to wonder if the nations treasury is as she says or is it also forged

Adeosun should resign and go.....she represent everything fake.....
and fake must be her name onwards.....
I spit on such a shameful being.......
SACK ADEOSUN NOW....

Foolish one, you obviously don't know history. I am ashamed to even call you a fellow tribesman cos it is people like you that give the Yorubas a bad rap unless Ofcourse you are a Yoruba Muslim then I can totally understand where this comment is coming from.

You fail to even understand that history always repeats itself. What is happening now has happened before. How the hell do you think Kwara became overrun with the fulani? Go figure. If you choose to align yourself with religion more than tribe, then you will have proven naysayers right. Yorubas have for so long being held together by their common ancestry and their devotion to their tribe (irrespective of our differences within ourselves) but this upsurge of MURIC and co is disturbing. You really think Muslims outnumber Christians in the SW. Or is it because most of the ruling party in the SW are muslims you all want to start up some mischievous agenda along religious lines, choosing to align with the North rather than with common sense. I pity you. Give them land and watch as you become slaves.

[quite author=Empiree post=69080164]Illustrate are those people commenting here. The so called ancestral lands, abeg, ask them what they have been doing with them?. The lands are just sitting there useless and families kill themselves over it. I am telling you now, many Yoruba and Igbo want no peace. Before they start questioning my background, let me say that I am a yoruba man. Govt proposal make sense but they need to remove the word "colony" from any type of deal between herdsmen and govt. Lo ba tan

Now ask the opposition if they are content with cows roaming the street in 21st century?. Just yesterday i received a short video of roaming cows in the street of Lekki, and the ladies there are complaining. Abeg, ask them what they are complaining about if they dont want herdsmen to have enclosed ranches?. The so called "educated people in the South-west and East are actually bunch of morons. Hausa-fulanis are more intelligent than them. Do you know that Sardauna, Ahmadu Bello actually proposed ranches decades before while our so called educated people are busy killing one another over the so called ancestral land?.

Now, in order not to make it look like govt gave the land for free, i would suggest the govt charge annual income tax on herdmen's revenue. Govt and herdmen's proposal is in harmony with modern world. But this nigga called FKK and his cohorts are bunch of violent hypocrites.

Lands Should Belong To Govt. I Support Ranches. Embrace Civility People, Embrace The Herdsmen grin
You are a muthasucker.

GoTV:
What is the big deal in surrendering lands to save lives? I think this is the best deal we can get from this government if we want this crisis to end. As Christians, the Bible encourages us to be our brothers keeper and love our neighbors as ourselves. Now it's time to practice what we preach. Let's allow the Fulani Herdsmen to have lands and we will enjoy peace. Beef and milk will also be cheaper if cattle rearing is in every community.

You are right and You are wrong. I'll explain. I am Yoruba and I have often agreed with FFK that for us an ethnic group to really realise our potential we need to depart from this current arrangement called Nigeria.
The problem with my people as I see it is that I am not even sure if we know what we want. I think we are just content to exist and are happy to be given whatever. I think Awolowo (great as he was in the minds of many sentiments aside go figure if in doubt) missed a very important opportunity to atleast have Nigeria restructed (all I've read points to this).

Truth be told as much as I am Yoruba and do not agree with some of what Nnamdi Kanu says (especially against Yorubas) I think most of his message is actually true and he's been proven right even in his abscene. It is quite unfortunate that due to politics SW and SE can't unite to break the backs of these bastard Northern Islamic Fundamentalists whom we Southerners have zero in common with.

I have said and I'll continue to say until the South unites against this Fulani North, not to confront them in war, but to defeat their purpose of keeping this current entity called Nigeria, we all will know little or no progress and change. A country is only a country if they people within it share certain core values and are by and large homogenous. Can we say same for Nigeria? I don't think so.

Xander85:
The key thing is that they didn't roll over and accept any shi't the fulani 'owners of Nigeria' tried with them....they put up a fight, no matter what you may think of their efforts and the end result!

If at least two other ethnic groups had individuals with the guts of Ikemba and Mazi kanu to seek for the emancipation of their people from this prison we're in, and more importantly, if they equally had the kind of mass following these two men had, then i bet you things will change overnight b'cos the northern oligarchs will realise the game is up and it's either they agree to restructuring or they loose everything!

But i suspect the Yoruba prefer being in Nigeria than going it alone as a independent and free Oduduwa nation. They don't have that self-belief that they can succeed as a people on their own without Nigeria and all the advantages they think they have by being Nigerians. With the likes of Tinubu being their leader, you can just perish the thought of Oduduwa nationalism and any thoughts of emancipation of the Yoruba ethnic group! They'll tell you they 'don't need any emancipating thank you very much' that you should mind your effing business! They'll tell you that what Nigeria needs is Buhari, APC, and to kill corruption....once these three factors are in place then everything will be fine! smiley

PoliticsRe: Why Enugu Airport Project Will Be Delayed – Buhari by kayjay69(m): 10:58pm On Jun 22, 2018
I appreciate the balanced and fair post bro. God bless you for this.
Xander85:
The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has blamed the National Assembly Committees for the slashing of budgetary allocation for the completion of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu in the 2018 Appropriation Act from N2 billion to N500 million.
Ekweremadu, however, described as unfortunate the attempts by some persons to play politics with the development by insinuating that he or the South East lawmakers slashed the budget proposal for the project, especially when budgetary cut affected other geopolitical zones.
Ekweremadu in a statement on Thursday assured that the South East federal lawmakers and the National Assembly remained committed to the early completion of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

He expressed disappointment over the cut in the budgetary allocation to the project in the 2018 Appropriation Act from N2 billion to N500 million. He said his investigation showed that the cuts took place at the committees level and hopefully the affected committees would have explanations to make when the National Assembly resumes.

The lawmaker explained that it would be unfair to expect him to monitor the activities of the over 60 committees of the Senate and 100 committees in the House of Representatives unless his attention was called to any challenges.

Ekweremadu said: “The Committees of the National Assembly are usually given a free hand to do their jobs, but they are structured in a way that every geopolitical zone is represented. That way, they can call the attention of the principal officer from their zone when any challenges arise. “But in this case, the South East holds the positions of Vice Chairman of the House and Senate Committees on Appropriation and also chairs the House Committee on Aviation. Unfortunately, unlike in the case of Committee on Works where my attention was called to the challenges in appropriations, award, and funding of major road projects and I made my modest interventions to resolve the issues, nobody informed me of any challenges concerning budgetary provisions for the Akanu Ibiam Airport.”

Ekweremadu however, observed that the quest for a befitting international airport for the South East had been a daunting challenge, pointing out that the government did not release the N2 billion approved by the National Assembly in the 2017 budget for the terminal building at the Enugu Airport.

He said: “It is easily recalled that successive military and civilian governments refused to designate an international airport in the South East, despite endless promises. When I emerged as the Deputy President of the Senate in 2007, and with the support of other South East leaders and people, I led a delegation of South East Senators to see the late President Umar Yar’Adua over the matter.
“President Yar’Adua directed the Minister of Transport at the time, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, to designate the Akanu Ibiam Aiport an international facility in November 2007.
“Despite this magnanimity, the contract for the facility upgrade was not awarded even when all due process procurement activities had been completed with a due process certificate issued on December 1, 2008.
“In the 2009 Federal budget, the FG made a provision of N1billion for the upgrading of facilities at the airport. But we, members of the Enugu State caucus of the National Assembly, additionally appropriated the sum of N2 billion meant for constituency projects in our constituencies to the airport upgrade. Yet, the contract was stalled, leading to my protest letter to the late President Yar’Adua dated March 20, 2009 and the contract was eventually awarded. “We also ensured that the airport was gazetted as an international airport following the appointment of Mrs. Felicia Njeze as the Minister of Aviation by the government of President Goodluck. That administration eventually awarded a major contract that saw to the launch of the airport as an international facility in 2013.”

The Senator also noted that the Federal Government did not include the Enugu Airport or South East in the Chinese loan for airport upgrades as other international airports in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kano and Abuja.

He said: “We have continued to make case for the airport. The Minister of Aviation was in Enugu to see the airport. The Aviation Committees of the Senate and House of Representatives visited to see things for themselves. The issue was presented to the President when I led South East Senators to see him in 2017. It was raised in the meeting between the President and South East leaders October 13, 2017.
“Unfortunately, the sum of N2 billion approved for the construction of terminal building at the airport in the 2017 budget was not released.

“However, I am happy that the President has indicated that he would send a Supplementary Appropriation Bill. We will work with our colleagues from other zones to ensure adequate provisions for the airport. Hopefully, the government will now release the money this time, unlike the N2 billion in the 2017 budget when it did not release the funds.”

Ekweremadu also urged the Federal Government to release the already approved N500 million so that work could continue in earnest.

From the above it can be seen that Senator Ekweremadu has been proactive concerning the upgrade of AIIA to int'l status. What's proved to be a stumbling block is the usual pull-him-down syndrome that's rife in Nigerian politics and governance!

Senator Odua tried. Thing is, she was not greedy, bigoted and nepotistic to channel all or majority of funds meant for renovation of airports to her region like is being done in this Buhari/APC regime! Hence, the funds were spread a bit too thinly. If she had been a bit selfish and clannish she could have done AIIA Enugu up to look much better....kinda like what Hadi Sirika has done with the Kaduna airport while he ignored AIIA!

Besides, with the neglect AIIA has faced since 2015, is it any wonder it's looking so dilapidated now?
PoliticsRe: Why Enugu Airport Project Will Be Delayed – Buhari by kayjay69(m): 5:57pm On Jun 21, 2018
When Ekweremadu was in the majority party for several years, please what was done regarding the airport. I am not a fan of APC however I'd like that when we criticize we do so with some level of honesty. Are you aware that the original contract to give that airport a facelift and upgrade to international standards was awarded under the GEJ led PDP govt with Madam Stella Oduah as Minister for Aviation? Do you know what was awarded? Do you know how soon after the contract the airport came to be in shambles again? Do you know that these events, amongst other things, led to a hearing by the House of Reps and the eventual resignation of Madam Stella?
Now I am not saying Buhari is sympathetic to the SE and it's cause. But it is important to know the history of things before you jump to criticise. Our politicians are the same, they think of only themselves. If you decide to ignore that and then I'd like to think you are not well informed.

May God bless you for this deeply insightful and educative commentary. It is a shame that most users of nairaland know little about history despite the fact that they have web-enabled phones granting access to vast database of information. We are all so quick and so fast to post hashtag yoruba this, igbo that, sai this, up that and can't even clearly articulate whatever points we intend.

AreaFada2:
Dude you have little knowledge of history.

The whole problem actually began in Western Region. Between SL Akintola & Awolowo. Then Awolowo was imprisoned. That was the first crisis in Nigeria that heated up the polity. Balewa/Ahmadu Bello used SLA against Awo, declared State of Emergency in the West and sent Pa Awo to prison. Ever wondered why Awo was not killed on January 15th 1966? Not just because he wasn't in govt. He was seen as the main victim of Northern oppression.

Those young officers were angry over perception that Northern politicians and their Southern collaborators were oppressing Southern leaders. And looking the other way as Easterners were massacred in the North.

Do not think North/West collaboration was always cosy. Awo as a progressive politician could not do business with feudalistic conservative North.
Awo basically had little choice but to support Gowon when civil war broke out. Was not siding with just the North. Also with MidWest & West. He could not have persuaded West & Midwest to support Biafra as things were then. Though looking back, the West missed the opportunity to break free and become the most progressive and socially cohesive Country in black Africa.
PoliticsRe: Tafawa Balewa With Aguiyi Ironsi In The Early 60s (Throwback Photo) by kayjay69(m): 8:23pm On Jun 17, 2018
Are you so stupid? The better question should be why are you so stupid or why blindly choose stupidity over reason? If you are going to praise Buhari do so but why drag Yorubas into it. Must your comment be tinged with Tribal undertone. I am Yoruba and I don't agree with any part of your comment. Infact I think you are most likely paid to stir up some stuff like this to pit one section of the country against the other. Don't get me wrong, just as I can't stand you in the same vein I can't stand others who do this be it for igbo or hausa or any other tribe.

Sometimes I wonder is the black man cursed? Why do we insist on making the same mistake over and over? There's no tribe in Nigeria, get it in your thick skull. The only two tribes in Nigeria are the haves and the have nots. Keep playing into the books of useless politricians who care nothing about your future and your existence. Keep playing into their divide and rule tactics.

As for the coup, Kaduna Nzeogwu and his officers had very good and genuine reasons for carrying it out. Atleast they had the guts to do something cos the country wasn't gonna go anywhere, trust me it would not have gone anywhere with the way it was being run that much was obvious. You doubt me, pick up a book and read. Read from everyone who was in and out of govt around that time, gather your own facts and make your own inferences. The only major cockup is that they some how left out high ranking politicians from the SE and this was partially what got the Northern and SWestern Politicians and Army Officers livid. This was partially why they staged a bloody coup against Ironsi. I am pretty sure if Zik and all the others were taken out and Nzeogwu installed Awolowo as President we most likely would be in a better place as a nation and there would not have been any civil war. I could be wrong but that's just my theory. However I do not excuse the North and their thirst for blood. Like Vampires, there has always been a craving for killings in this part of the country whether justifiable or not (the facts are there, just google and read up on the pre-independence riots in the North).

Nigeria will not change unless we the masses shun these petty debates and haggling, unite together and reject useless leaders on all levels. I know it's tough cos there are useless leaders on both sides of the isle. However we must continue to push for what is best. I also believe that the parliamentary system is much better for us given our diversity.

Funnicator:
We Yorubas know there are no Igbos in SS/Niger Delta.

At the sametime Chukwuma Nzeogwu is from Delta state.

So he as a Niger Deltan, led the first coup of January 1966, and not the Igbos please.

We should all do our assignment before making useless posts here ignorant of knowledge.

All of what he is facing is a consequence of his own direct actions towards the people of Imo and not his association to the APC. Did the APC tell him to pick his son-in-law as his successor? Did the APC tell him to erect statues of every visitor to his state while owing salaries to state workers? You can say what you want about the APC but Mr Okorocha brought this upon himself. If he had governed well during his 2nd term he would not be faced with his current situation. Now he's running to Abuja and expecting the APC to help him do what exactly? Rig an election? Rig it's primaries? If APC does that you will be the first to criticise them. They decline him, you still criticise.

I think it will be good if Warriors lose this season just so they can be motivated to win next year. If you followed through this season u can tell they were cocky, often arguing with referees, losing concentration in games even after having huge leads.

Basketball heads know that a star studded team doesn't necessarily equal a championship, if it did lebron would have won in his 4 straight years at the Heat. I don't see GSW winning this series even if CP3 goes out for Game 6 (which I feel they should), GSW will go down in the 7th. And if by any stroke of luck they beat Rockets they'll have a hard time with the Celtics.

Bottom line is I hope they lose this year so they can be more motivated to win next year. And I don't think this crop of GSW guys can win 3 championships in a row. There's just something amiss about the team. The best players on the team are not aggressive by nature, and u need that sort attitude if u really are going to win not the passive aggressive stance adopted by Klay, Steph and KD. Another thing is the bench this season has been wack. Livingston needs to go, Pachulia, McGee, Young and Iguodala all need to go and be replaced by hungry players eager to win titles.

My 2 cents, peace.
