Really wish that had happened, we'd all have been better off individually than as we all are.

Well there’s a storyline that stated that Amadu Bello had insisted that should the west and East join forces politically during the first republic, the North would be forced to pull out of the union called Nigeria.

Zik appeared to have been sympathetic to the North’s concern for being left behind in the scheme of things.

There were mistakes from all sides, even today...

Zlatan and Ronaldo, cult members, youths of nigeria, so-called leaders of tomorrow, Nigeria is f***ed I swear.
EzegeNG:
It was chaos, last night, at the Gateway polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun State, as singer Zlatan Ibile was beaten up on stage by suspected members of the Eiye confraternity.

Trouble allegedly started when the singer got on stage late for his performance. Matters, however, got worse because he was rocking a beret of his Aiye cult group. .

Angered by his effrontery, one Eiye cultist identified as Ronaldo, approached Zlatan and removed the beret before attacking him. To prevent further anarchy, soldiers immediately moved in to whisk the singer away.

We, Nigerians, are our own problem. Our failed leadership is only a symptom, we, the people, are the root cause of most of our own problems.

PoliticsRe: Bashir Ahmad Replies Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde Again by kayjay69(m): 3:00pm On Apr 16, 2019
the main reason we borrow in my opinion is because we as a country have our priorities misplaced, we spend more on recurrent expenditure than we do on capital and even at that whatever we spend on rarely gets implemented to the fullest and even with that said, when it is implemented it is usually rife with corruption. We are borrowing to finance our national legislature for example. You really think if govt were to raise more in taxes they'll spend it wisely, hell no.

The notion you are putting forward right now is that celebrities shouldn't talk because some of them dont pay taxes. Here's one thing you forget, Omotola and other celebs like her are well connected and even if it is found out today that she doesn't pay taxes she will still get off the hook, the rich always look out for themselves. But here we are criticising someone for speaking out in a country where most if not everyone are YES-men. Oh, so we all must agree with the government of the day and God forbid we don't we will be asked to show tax returns.

The people whose tax returns you should be really after are the people in govt. Omotola to be best of my knowledge has never held a govt post, she's made her money through her talent (and business acumen I want to believe) over the years. I see no reason why she cannot criticise govt in so far as it is constructive.

This is my problem with Nigeria and Nigerians in general. Even if the Lord Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed were to pass their opinion of the govt of the day, people will still find means to criticise. Whereas we all suffer from bad roads, bad electricity and bad leadership yet still when someone who clearly has nothing to benefit from it simply reminds us, we throw stones.

We are our own worst enemy. We are our own problem. And it is no wonder we have a leader like the current one. Infact with this mindset, it will not be a surprise in the future to have leaders worse than the current crop.

As much as I get your narrative about payment of taxes and by all means I do pay mine. But you cannot criticise those who dont pay, I'm sure they have good reasons (as evidenced all around us) not to pay. Tax payment will not deliver Nigeria from its problems. If today ordinary people were to see clearly the dividend of their taxes, they will gladly pay cos they'll be encouraged to. You even fail to realise that the people who often subvert the tax payment process are not the low to middle class income earners, they are usually people who own businesses, big rich men connected to people in govt. Same old same.
veraponpo:
God bless this guy.

The only reason Nigerian government borrows money to finance projects, which many still condemn, is because many of the citizens, most especially the socialites and elites don't pay taxes.

Ask the entertainers, footballers, many of the elites, etc they dont pay taxes, yet they blame government and compare Nigeria with China or USA where taxes are paid without exception by all the citizens.

This does not exclude the commoners like mechanics, carpenters, vulcanizers, bricklayers, traders, etc. They earn and spend all their earnings yet they want power, water, roads, etc.

Change begins with us

God bless you dear. As much as I am not igbo, I cannot help but wonder why our leaders in general and this man specifically just lack the most basic of senses assumed to be common to man. This is the same man who came into office via court order against Ohakim. Over a span of 8 years he basically transformed from a man of the people (even this is debatable) to a caricature of a politician, a clown, a douche bag, a conman and an opportunist. A great example he could easily, very easily follow is that of Ebonyi and Enugu. Silently, they are developing their states and playing their politics with maturity.

I only read his comments to laugh.

Wailing wailer! Honestly when people get intoxicated the don't know what they're doing. But when it finally clears the now realize how foolishly they acted. Okorocha is a good example. PoliticsRe: Junaid Mohammed: South Should Forget 2023 Presidency by kayjay69(m): 9:14pm On Apr 06, 2019
Absolutely true and that was the freest and fairest election we've had till date.

The fact is if the APC today were to out of equality cede say the Speakership to the SE, I dont see how their numbers will not automatically improve in 2023.

The issue here is that the APC is made up largely of Yorubas and Northerners who are also mostly Muslims. I am Yoruba and I believe the Yoruba arm of the APC prefers this so, in order that they might maintain key stakes in the govt of the day.
Have you guys stopped to think what would happen if every region voted APC, it would be alot difficult for the likes of Tinubu and Buhari to absolutely call the shots.

Igbos I think are fair people, though voting patterns suggests they have stuck to one party since 1999 but this has nothing to do with who was presented, if the SE voted Obasanjo and YarAdua, I'm pretty sure they can do same again.

As much as I dislike both APC and PDP, you cannot help but admit that atleast with PDP, there was the unsaid agreement that power had to be shared and they did their best as evidenced in the composition of key positions across government. APC on the other hand came into govt with the mindset of sidelining any region that didn't support them. Now I get this, I really do however we thought we were past that as a country, atleast in the interest of the collective.

I am a southerner and I love this man's comments. I like his openness and I pray and hope this will be the view that every other power broker in the north adopts.

This will force my sleeping Yoruba brothers out of their slumber and I hope this will deliver the much needed South Alliance (plus some North Central states).

The earlier we in Southern Nigerian especially my sleeping brothers realise that we have zero in common with the core Northerners the better. The earlier we realise there is no reasoning with these people, the better. Their treachery knows no bound and as long as we refuse to learn our lesson, history will keep repeating itself.

I am really happy he said this, now I pray and hope he and his northern cohorts can simply follow through on their wishes so that hopefully they'll hasten the disintegration of this joke of a country. It was never meant to work anyway, they are simply showing it to the rest of us the hard way.

dachiwater:
Junaid Mohammed, a Second Republic member of House of Representatives has stated that the South should forget 2023 Presidency as the North will present a candidate in the election year.

The former lawmaker who claimed that zoning and rotation of power have collapsed and as such any region with the political strength can claim the coveted position, also accused Ohanaeze of collecting millions of naira to support Atiku Abubakar’s presidential bid. Speaking with Vincent Kalu, Junaid Mohammed who stated that the South should forget 2023 Presidency, added that the 2019 election had people who were responsible for maintaining law and at the forefront on mangling the election and upturning peoples mandate.

On equity in 2023, he said;

I don’t want to hear about this equity and justice, that is sheer nonsense.

The people, who abused this equity and justice, are the people from the Southeast because whatever we are talking about, in a democracy you cannot circumvent voting figures.

You can say it is time for my people. We will not vote for you and let’s see what hap- pens. I said it in one of my statements, look at the way the people of the Southeast voted during the last election; they have a humongous collection of votes and they all voted for Atiku, and they expect somebody to come from his own area to vote for them.

If you want other Nigerians to vote for you, you better look for other Nigerians and make a choice. Maybe, in 2023, Kanu will come and force all Nigerians to vote for them. Democracy is a question of give and take; you vote for me and I vote for you, that was what Michael Okpara used to say. You don’t vote for me and maybe you think that by abusing me on the pages of newspapers that I will vote for you. I will not. If I come back into active politics, it will be because of that. Let us see, for abusing people how they will vote for you.

Look at Ohanaeze, how they are duping people; they collected millions from Atiku. Let us see 2023, by the grace of God, which candidate they want to produce.

There are over 232 ethnic groups in Nigeria, how can anybody be a candidate of a group and expect to be voted by the others. You pressmen you have a responsibility to enlighten people. I want to see how they will pick the candidate from Southeast in 2023. Some of us traditionally, we don’t talk too much, but don’t imagine that we will keep quiet and do your own bidding, it will not happen. See what is happening now, we have started the second term of Buhari’s administration, but today, people are scrambling for 2023, and the Yoruba are saying that it is their turn. How it’s their turn, I don’t know.

We keep on making this mistake of agitation of, ‘it is our turn’ over and over again. After all, somebody says the classical definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.

This is what I see happening in Southeast; you don’t vote for anybody, you only vote for who gives money, also those who say they are in APGA; all those who belong to the Igbo faction of PDP. They should think back and think of their own generation of those who are promising and who are educated and who don’t see politics as trading. Politics is not trading; it is a serious matter.

And I sincerely, wholeheartedly and totally agree with him.

Really I do.

Until say both parties zone the presidency to the South, then you are going to see this same man right here scream blue murder.

In the ideal sense, he is right and who knows maybe the man who has the potential to lead the country to the promised land is from a remote village in Benue, Ebonyi, Delta or Cross River. Who knows really? But I guess we will never find out because we all know the reality. The reality is what we have been exposed to since 1999, probably since the inception of the country.
chimjoshjuan:
Babachir Lawal, Nigeria's ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has stated that it is not compulsory the north must cede power to south In 2023. The ex-SGF who also claimed that the Governor of Adamawa State, Jibrilla Bindow, betrayed President Muhammadu Buhari, added that it led to the poor performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state during the presidential and governorship elections.

Babachir Lawal who told Aid-Oghie Paulinus that it is not compulsory the north must cede power to south in 2023, added that  every part of the country was qualified to produce a president for the country. On insinuations that the North may not cede power to the South in 2023, he said;

I don’t attend any meeting in which a so called north takes decisions. If there is such an organization that takes those decisions, they don’t invite me. For obvious reasons, I am a democrat and I believe every part of Nigeria has qualified candidates for the presidential. Every part of Nigeria! Indeed, I don’t see why the… even if it is in the north, if we say the Northwest has produced a presidential candidate, the Southwest had produced one, I don’t see why the North Central can- not produce or the Northeast cannot produce just as South-South, Southeast, Southwest and even Northwest can still produce. The constitution doesn’t say it is prohibited. And as I said, I believe every zone, every state, has capable people that can run this country effectively.

On if deputies should always succeed their principals like Osinbajo succeeding Buhari in 2023, he said;

It is not in the constitution, so it is not a principle. Principle of what? It is not in APC constitution, it is not in the national constitution, it is not in the Bible, I don’t know whether it is in the Koran; I don’t know. So, I don’t see how it became a principle.

PoliticsRe: MURIC Expresses Disappointment Over Fayemi’s Commissioners List by kayjay69(m): 7:09pm On Apr 05, 2019
In a state where 90% are christian, the so-called Prof is definitely going mad with his latest comments. Notice how he carefully couched his statement.

Whatever MURIC's agenda is, it is surely not in tandem with that of the Yoruba people in general. It is very obvious they seek to divide in the name of Islamic rights concern. The last thing we need as a people and as a country are these type of arguments. We have practiced so-called fairness in considering religion and ethnicity an see where it has gotten us. Stupidity is defined as doing the same BS over and over and over and over again and expecting a different result. On a sidenote, I think its high time some investigative journalist exposes whoever is bankrolling MURIC. This so-called organisation is a very dangerous one and a disaster waiting to happen. We may be taking them very likely but that's how they start and then gain momentum overtime. Their real agenda is clear. It is to create discontent (where none clearly exists) that leads to grudges muslims against christians.
phranklean:
The governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, sent his list of commissioners to the State assembly on Tuesday, 2nd April, 2019. The list contained fourteen (14) names. The governor also added another five (5) names for the nomination of the chairman and members of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission (EKSLGSC).

Meanwhile the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has described the list as most disappointing. The Islamic human rights organization reacted in a press statement signed by its Founder and Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Thursday, 4th April, 2019.

“This list is heavily lopsided. Fayemi is ill-advised. He has grossly shortchanged Muslims. How can he give us only one commissioner out of fourteen? What parameter did he use? This is most disappointing. Fayemi has blindfolded Muslims in Ekiti state. Muslims are not part of his government. Ekiti State executive is not truly representative. It is undemocratic. It is a sham. The disappointment is even more painful because Governor Fayemi had been touted as a very liberal Christian. But see what he has done to us.

“Even in Ondo state where the percentage of Muslims is lower, they were given four commissioners. That is what Governor Akeredolu did for Muslims in Ondo. He gave them four out of fourteen and that is why the Muslims are not making any noise there. Justice is the soul of peace.

“With Dr. Wahab Adegbenro in the Ministry of Health, Rashid Badmus in Natural Resources, Alhaji Imam Olurimisi in Culture and Tourism and Taofiq Abdul Salaam in Works, Ondo Muslims look at the Muslim commissioners and say, ‘We are well-represented’.

“But see what Fayemi has done to us. Only Alhaji Ayodele Jinadu is a Muslim out of his fourteen commissioners. We reject this in Allah’s Mighty Name. It could have been different if the Muslims had not said anything earlier but they did. They asked for proportionate representation but this is what Fayemi gave them: an empty pot of porridge. Ekiti Muslims do not deserve this humiliation. It is a betrayal in view of the undiluted support they gave Fayemi during the elections.

“If this is a snub, there is always another day. If it is an act of impunity, we all know that power is transient and even the high and mighty will need the poor and weak somewhere along the line. We are used to powerless conscience subjugating conscienceless power. What we are not used to is powerless conscience getting away with it. We will remember this if Fayemi seeks higher office in future. Our message is not for Ekiti alone. Nor is it for the South West. Only the deep can call to the deep. It is a wakeup call to Muslims to restrategize and they will do just that.

“Alhaja Maryam Ogunlade is the only Muslim member on the list of EKSLGSC. Alhaja Ogunlade was once the Ameerah (chairperson) of the Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) in Ekiti State. She deserves the position.

“But while we may not object to the EKSLGSC list, we keenly await the list of members and chairmen of other boards and agencies. We are interested in knowing how many of them will be chaired by Muslims. There should be no pretensions about it. Muslims have been marginalized in the appointments made so far by Fayemi. They therefore deserve lofty positions in remaining appointments.

“Fayemi is a Christian, he picked a Christian as deputy governor, a Christian as Chief of Staff, a Christian as Secretary to the State Government, 13 Christians out of 14 commisioners have now been nominated. The body language is very clear. Muslims do not matter to him. Fayemi has wittingly excommunicated participatory democracy from Ekiti State.

“MURIC charges Muslims in Ekiti State to tighten their seat belts. The struggle ahead is not only political but intellectual. They must go into politics in large number and with diversification. Enough is enough. Their continuous marginalization already speaks volumes.

“On a last note, we express the deep disappointment felt by Muslims, not only in Ekiti State but also in the South West and in Nigeria as a whole over Fayemi’s lopsided list. A thick air of betrayal has enveloped Islamdom. We urge Muslims in the state to restrategize. As for Governor Fayemi, we caution him against marring his hitherto good records in Christian-Muslim relations. His latest lopsided list is a potent threat to participatory democracy. He may still have a slim chance to redress the injustice”.

CAN is no more a religious arm of PDP than MURIC a religious arm of APC, endeavour to be fair in your analysis. I do not agree with the stance of both groups on most of the issues they raise especially as it relates to politics. It is unfortunate that religion has been and continues to be weaponized in this country to divide and rule the masses.

However with that said, I do believe that appointments should either reflect the religious standing of country
and if we must jettison this totally let no party complain when the other is doing same. If PDP were to sweep into power today and appoint Southern Christians to a majority of positions, I bet APC would complain, MURIC would complain, some Muslims would complain and Nigerians will, in their regular fashion forget what APC is doing or has done over the last couple years and blame the said PDP govt.

I am a believer that competence not religion should have a bearing on what position a politician/appointed govt official occupies but we are who we are and we as a people are'nt at that mental stage where we are willing to discard religion and focus on competence.

Recent events (crashes) would force you into rethinking about brand new airplanes. I prefer a well maintained plane to a new one. I dont know if Air Peace has a maintenance hangar as Arik does in Lagos. This should be the more pertinent question.

If I were to take a wild guess, I'd say the Naval Officer in question was white and this was probably in the 70's in the US. Anyway, my takeaway from this is for someone who had passed through such an experience to find his way to a position of power and influence, you would atleast expect that he would want to use his power to prevent others from passing through what he faced.
Not saying its mandatory but at the very least morally speaking you would expect that.

It's ironic that most African leaders more often than not, use power to the detriment not to the advancement of their subjects never minding that these leaders passed came through humble beginnings.

oluchisimfred:
Bola Tinubu, the former Governor of Lagos State who spoke during his 67th birthday celebration on 29 March, narrated how a naval officer slapped him. According to the APC Chieftain, it was an incident he will never forget and it all occurred when he over-charged a naval officer who was returning to the country.

Bola Tinubu who narrated how a naval officer slapped him when he was still a cab driver, said; “One experience I will not forget was when I over-charged a naval officer, who was returning to the country. It was not intentional. Apparently, I didn’t know the direction; there was no GPRS in those days to locate directions. So, he gave me the direction to his house in a Virginia suburb.“I gave him the price and the man responded with a slap to my face. He said I should know the correct fare to charge to the location he mentioned. He slapped me and gave me the money."

I repeat refusing people from wearing hijab is not a human rights abuse issue. What constitutes and is generally accepted by most as Human Rights is defined by the UN, feel free to check their website.

Now if the law protects people from wearing hijab, then you may have a case against whoever tries going against such. But then I ask what law?

Also, to the best of my knowledge I dont know anyone who was refused wearing of hijab in a public institution?
International School Ibadan is not a public school by the way, it is private. You can check on their website.

And the fact is I dont think these female students have at anytime complained that their lack of hijab has hampered their studies or has made them lesser than they are. This brouhaha around this came from a couple of parents who I am guessing are sponsored by MURIC or people who have parallel interests with MURIC. This has never been an issue, everyone got along fine before now Muslim and Non-Muslim. So I ask why now? Why not let sleeping dogs lie? What is the point you seek to prove? Why not think of the larger ramifications? I guess not. I really think this is an overblown thing and MURIC intends to stampede it's views on others not minding who gets hurt along the way.

In my opinion, these are non-issues. When they do decide to raise important points, they'll have my support.

BeansAndBread:
Refusing people to wear their clothing in public institutions is a human rights abuse. Wearing of hijab in public spaces and institutions is protected by the law, if you then refuse people from doing so, then you've overstepped your bounds.

We actually need regulation in a way.

Religion it self is meant to guide and save man from his evil inclinations and do that which is right but those fomenting trouble and making war mongering speeches.

Imagine, if the bill to regulate preaching was in Borno state then people like Muhammad Yusuf(the founder of Boko haram) will not mount the pulpit to instigate thoughtless people against that government that has birthed the monster boko haram.

I am,by God's grace a serious practising muslim and I whole heatedly support any bill that will regulate any preacher whether he is pastor or and Imam or whoever that come to Kaduna state to peach since the state is known for religious volatility.

Kaduna has its peculiar problems and she is not like any other state if this bill will make it possible for there to be a decrease in hate speeches then so be it.

I just dey laugh as I dey read your response. Now while I agree with your sentiment, the problem this poses is interference from Government. As much as I feel that religious bodies should really be regulated due to some of their excesses, I also believe in the separation between state and religion.

Maybe we can hope (in vain though as seen thus far) that these religious bodies regulate themselves but I dont think letting government wade into religious matters is the way to go.

It is a slippery slope that may well come to bite all of us in the behind. I dont think it will end well for all involved and it will turn to be a situation of solving a problem while creating so many others.

As for me i see nothing wrong with this excellent bill. Christianity especially needs to be regulated with iron hand. The nuisance of Christianity abound in almost every street of the federation. What fvcking message are you people evangelising that several lunatics just wake up and set up churches even in shops disturbing the peace of neighbors with loud speakers spewing thrash called preaching. Christianity has been abused by useless men parading as preachers and present day Christianity makes people dumb and zombiefied in nature. If not how can a sane Human being believe that Adeboye drove to Lagos with empty tank? How can someone with functional brain believe that Adeboye and God drank tea together? How can people still follow Oyedepo blindly despite his partisanship and obvious interest in frolicking with thieving politicians? How has religion helped the average poor Nigerian? The north has the highest population of poor people despite praying five times daily. The Christians keeps attending Shiloh, Redeem Camp e.t.c yearly but no meaningful changes occurs in their lives while their mega pastors keeps building universities, estates and enjoying worldly riches. Pastor enjoying material things in life and telling you to make heaven for your own enjoyment. Are you not super dumb? While Islam and other religions has their flaws, i think every state should follow the Kaduna model by reforming and licensing those mentally deranged bastards parading as pastors/imams.

Personally, I think there are more serious and pressing human rights abuse cases that a group such as MURIC can use its platform to shine light upon. I do not think the use of hijab constitutes human rights abuse.

You can see how he tries to lump use of hijab with human rights abuse? You would think we didn't have other more pressing issues that he could take his time to focus on.

Unfortunately he won't succeed, he is more or less DOA - Dead On Arrival. People may like/dislike Tinubu but you cant help but admire him as a politician (even though it is to the detriment of his constituents, of which I am one, and the Nigerian people at large). As for Aregbe, there is not much to like or admire. This man has shown clearly that he will gladly weaponize religion if it translates to political gain. He did as Osun State Gov, God forbid the day he were to ever seize the reins of their party leadership in the SW. Initially I saw him as a grassroots movement leader that the hinterland folks really needed, as he gained power and stayed further in office his real intentions grew.

Goodluck with that. MURIC is not fighting or protecting Muslim rights. It is just a front for whatever their real agenda is. They need dummies like you anyway to believe in whatever it is they are trying to sell and deflect attention away from the real issues that affect everyone, Muslim and Non-Muslim.
Would you even know a real issue if it were to hit you right in the face? I doubt that.
Rather than pick their battles sensibly, they are trying to overhaul everything all at once in a society as diverse as ours. And with them there's obviously no compromise, no middle ground. It's their way or the highway. I will never support such an organisation.
What does supporting brazen activities of Fulani Herdsmen have to do with Muslim rights?
What does indirectly supporting APC have to do with Muslim rights?
You'd rather call a spade a fork abi.

You are the fool here, MURIC is protecting and fighting for Muslims right. Can WAEC or even INEC schedule its activities for Sunday morning?

MURIC is a very very dangerous organisation and ought to be taken as such. If Yoruba elders do not call this so-called Professor to order, this thing has the propensity to grow into something uncontrollable. It is clear as day what MURIC's agenda is and it is quite sad that everyone especially South Westerners keep arms folded while looking on instead of calling this man to order. What the hell has fixing exams on Friday got to do with anything? I guess soon enough, they'll seek to change weekends from Saturday and Sunday to Friday and whatever day. Why must we cry wolf over every stupid little thing? If we gave every interest group everything it wanted, how the hell would the world look like? But No, this group is for something much bigger. Their aim is clear and it is to change the overall way of life (if they could) of the average person.
Mind you I do not condone the Reverend's speech if he truly uttered such, however I fully do not and can not stand MURIC and everything they have stood for so far. From tacitly supporting fulani herdsmen and their killings to mundane issues such as this, I honestly can never ever support such a silly, obviously childish organisation. If they were for progressive meaningful change for people of the Islamic faith, I can understand and empathise but this has no bearing whatsoever on the well-being of adherents of the Islamic faith. It is only for bragging rights and anyone reasonable enough will admit this much. It is matters like this that start fear mongering on the other side and has the potential to grow into something much bigger that will swallow up the entire South West.

WAEC Official Threatens MURIC Director With Disappearance In Leaked Audio

March 25, 2019

In a tone reminiscent of the dark days of the military era in Nigeria, an official of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Reverend (Dr) Henry Osidehinde has threatened a ‘disappear without trace’ treatment for Director of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Professor Ishaq Akintola for daring to demand the rights of Muslim students.

In the 1 minute, 3 seconds audio clip exclusively obtained by Muslim News, Rev. Osidehinde specifically warned Prof Akintola against protesting over WAEC’s deliberate scheduling of its examinations to collide with Friday’s prayer.

The Reverend, who is reported to be the Deputy Registrar in charge of the School Examinations Department at the Lagos office of WAEC made the controversial statement at a seminar held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the examination body’s International Office, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The seminar, which centred on Teachers’ Development in an ICT – Driven World, had in attendance representatives of schools and WAEC officials. The chief discussant, Dr Babajide Bakare presented a paper on the subject.

According to a source who preferred anonymity, although there was no media presence at the event, the voice was captured during the recording of the the educative presentation of the Chief discussant with a phone.

According to the source, Reverend Osidehinde, who was the Chairman of the occasion, was answering a question on the challenges faced by WAEC in preparing timetables, while making reference to Prof Akintola of MURIC.

Osidehinde who was displayed so much arrogance, hatred and disdain for Islam said in the audio,

“In Nigeria, we are becoming over-religious. We are becoming so holier (sic) than the Pope and holier (sic) than the man in Saudi Arabia that somebody like Professor Ishaq Akintola would now be going to schools to disrupt (their activities) because of prayer time.

“We need to stop this. I am mentioning this because it is getting too much and I expected Lagos State to take proper action against Prof Ishaq. He recently went to a school in Ojo to disrupt (sic) I have the video here. We need to be guided properly.

“Someone was saying, ‘If they don’t take it (time-table) away on Friday (sic)’. You don’t threaten an institution like government. The government can take anybody out and they will not see that person again. And nothing will happen. Nothing. Not that they will kill the person, they will just take him out of circulation and keep him somewhere,” he declared emphatically.

Muslim News wondered if Reverend Osidehinde’s position will remain the same should WAEC fix the same examination on Sunday.

MURIC – a non-violent, non-governmental organisation – has over the years protested against fixing the WAEC examination timetable during Jum’ah (Friday prayer) periods and the incessant harassments of Muslim girls in Hijab in Southwest schools.

Last year, WAEC changed the examination date of the Chemistry paper, which clashed with the Muslim Friday prayers in its SSCE timetable, after complaints and criticisms from MURIC, Muslim stakeholders and affected candidates.

Prof Lakin warned WAEC that fixing exams during Jum’ah period, was not only illegal and unconstitutional, but is also capable of causing disturbance of public peace.

It would also be recalled that in early January 2019 Prof Akintola led his members and some Muslims to Iba Housing Estate Senior High School, Lagos, where WAEC officials ordered female Muslim students to remove their Hijabs before they could be captured for the registration process.

Nice comments bro. I dont know how a post about Ambode and Sanwo Olu devolved into IPOB and Biafrans. I get the whole thing about free speech but some idiots need to be censored.

You can only find useless comments like this on Nairaland. Body shamming and calling the wife of your once saviour barren is very low.

To bring Igbos or IPOB, whichever one you are referring to shows that you are sick.

For your information, Igbos will continue to live in Lagos till eternity. Oya go kill yourself....Ode

If Nigeria was a sane country, however we both know that is not the case. It's not like the average southern will do better than the average Northern president, Nigeria's problems are systemic, only a holistic approach will attempt to address our problems. But even at this, sincerely I fear it may be too late.
