From Don Williams,Kenny Rogers,Dolly Parton,Keith Urban to Faith Hill,Lone Star,Shania Twain,Tim McGraw,et al,i am a big fan.Let me know how you want this to proceed though,a song exchange thread or you just want us to discuss these artists in general. |
HNIC:If you mean unneccesary forays by our CBs then i have to disagree. . as late as the 91min(i hope i am right by the timing),i could have swore i saw Vermaleen making a surge of such when we were meant to keep things tight at the back. That said it was a MASSIVE WIN by the lads yesterday as it is not easy to get body and soul together after a string of bad performances. Kudos to Gallas for that tackle and Diaby had such a great match. He was magnificent defensively and great going forward.Suffice to state Clichy performance yesterday is the best i have seen him post-injury. Yeah i know some of you may explain away Walcott's non-performance as been due to injury and age,but what sort of player passes back to the opponent's keeper when you are supposed to keep possession? Between him and Webb, someone definately deserves the hair dryer treatment. ![]() |
Funniest thing i have read all my life is anyone inferring and insinuating plasticity of any fan that is enumerating the egregious folly of our gaffer.Fortunately for me,i grew up knowing "only a good friend looks you in the eye and tells you the home truth" ![]() The 07/08 season is enough for any reasonable man to learn from, but yet again,Wenger refused to do the right thing. And who dare compare us to Barca, the FACT remains while the "technicalities" and deftness being taught in La Masia can do wonders in La Liga, the same can not be said of EPL.Apart from Wenger's refusal to spend is his seeming aversion to buying players with presence and physicality. It is no rocket science that the last time we won anything of note we had Gilberto,Viera et al. These present set of boys just do not know what it is to be VICTORS.Until they feel the joy and passion of victory and the pain on the face of the vanquished, they WILL never put in that extra effort. I remain a GOONER(it is the only club i have known and supported) but i still maintain we need a Dein kinda man on board. |
I dunno why many of y'all are surprised. It's the same news every season at this time of the year.
I will tell you why i am surprised this season. . . . . . After the loss to Chelsea and Man U last season which culminated in our ouster from FA CUP and UEFA CUP respectively, and the aftermath reaction from the fans,i could have bet with my life that Wenger will do things differently. I do not want to go into a long tirade but did anyone noticed the "instant" change the introduction of Bendtner brought to the game today? That ALONE made me know that SOMETHING is fundamentally wrong with Wenger. No RVP,Eduardo is barely the player he was,Vela was and never deemed good enough(remember he claimed Vela made him concluded Ade can leave I say it again, something is fundamentally wrong somewhere. doyin13:There is a bit of talent in Pompey,Hull City and Westham too so what gives? |
Just have to remove the "in Wenger we trust" part please. I am sorry if it hurts anyone.May seem knee-jerked but i can not "stick" to what i no longer believe in! |
Vermaelen is shyte!!! Song, Diaby and Cesc are the only hard-working players out there tonight. Sagna is an asswipe. . . . . .Clichy needs rehabilitation and Walcott should hang his boots.
I do not agree at all.Song and Cesc have been average.Nasri hugs the ball as usual and it's obvious our full backs need to be "guillotined".Suffice to say our CBs are not better than Senderos in dealing with Drogba. Diaby is the only one in the middle of the pack who seems to be putting in the shift and his contribution has been immense. We WILL not see any comback, cos i am sure even if we score a goal,we will go gung ho and conceed more. Let's get this tough opponents done with jare and go back to defeating our other "wifeys" |
Save for Diaby and to an extent Vermaleen, the rest of these lads sgould be deprived of their earnings for the rest of the season ![]() |
Na wa ooo |
More like Funke Egemode's style in Sunday Sun.Humorously engaging, intellectually witty and incendiary in the subtlest of ways. Cool! |
nateevs:You know what, when tkb posited you chat a lot of rubbish with so much swagger,i felt he been overtly expressive but then when you post the highlighted,i can not but agree with him. FACTS in football? Are you for real? It's like saying Aston Villa shouldn't mind going to OT because they have not won there in donkey years.Or Man U shouldn't have made that visit to El Drago cos no English team prior to their victory, has ever taken 3 points from there. I understand your conceit as per your team, but then FACT in football?Go lie down abeg. BTW your stats there, did Arsenal just start playing Chelsea in '05? |
Westlife- - -Back home. |
debosky:If Song was awful yesterday,i can mention at least 4 players who should be sent to the guillotine. If Song was seen around the opponents 18 and inside it more than players like Rosicky and Nasri, that really says a lot.OK he was "guilty" of wanting to be a maestro, what about those that are not attacking nor defending? Gallas and Song even had more scoring chances than Rosicky and Nasri ![]() I agree completely. That said, he created it all by himself - where was Cesc I wonder?Cesc wasn't at his nest yesterday but can't he even have an off-day after series of eye catching performances? What about these bunch of passengers who haven't done much that have a party with Lewin all season? I disagree - even Vermaelen was poor yesterday - he was closest to Rooney for the actual goal and wasn't even aware of where he was. Song himself was nowhere to be seen in the goals - that is not good closing down if you ask me.Not just in yesterday's match. . .none of our players apart from Song and Vermaleen closes down the opponents. How many times have i seen them back off rather than close down since the departure of Flamini. What did I disagree with? Did I say we didn't need a striker? These were your posts: Wenger insists he is in the market to buy so why doubt him? Whether the buy will meet the 'expectations' is something else. Well said kay. . . .but I am confident he will buy - even when Cesc was injured he didn't speak as early as he has concerning buying in January this time around. After i said this: That said,i love the sound of Rodallega but with Bendtner coming back and Eduardo gradually gaining back his form,i think a bald man has a better chance of copping the mohawk hairstye than Le Prof copping RVP's replacement I seriously hope i am proved wrong. Huntelaar didn't want to leave, but then again, I'm sure if Wenger REALLY wanted to get someone, anyone even, he would have done so.He was virtually pleading to be priced away from Milan as he was not getting playing time.Just a loan deal a la Baptista and recently Sol was enough. I'm done trying to analyse the mental state of these guys, I'll leave that to Wenger. It is easy to see these dudes have been to pampered and need more of the Anfield anger. To think the next thing you will read on our site after all this nonsense is an extension of contracts for some of these pasta footed players. . .excruciating ![]() |
debosky:Song took up the "creative" mantle yesterday when players like Nasri were having a stinker. It's a no brainer why he was caught far up the field. The team as a whole was poor - Cesc was way too peripheral, most of the chances fell to AA23 (Who must be given credit for the desire to even make those chances) but his decision making was poor. Score just one of those first half chances and the game changes completely. The "he scores in the big game" stuff seem o be catching up with this guy. While i can't fault his passion for wanting to get goals, what he did right from refusing to pass to Walcott in the Bolton game to all his selfish antics yesterday is extremely annoying.Damn!Feed your team mates who are better placed to score the ball and bam! we are a goal up. Slack marking, poor closing down and players too similar to themselves. Play Nasri and Arshavin or Rozzi and Arshavin, but not all three when you have no striker. With the exception of Vermaleen and Song, all our players have always been terrible at closiing opponents down.At a point,Eboue was dancing makossa with some invisible ninnies and backing off Rooney when he should be closing him down. ![]() Unfortunately, Wenger started believing his own hype. Managing 7 wins with one of them being against Liverpool and seemingly scoring for fun made him feel we didn't need a striker. I believe we are beginning to pay for that foolishness, but again, judgment reserved till after the Liverpool game.I said this when the window opened and you disagreed. The moment Wenger inferred that an attacker shouldn't just be able to score but assist,i knew something was up.I have never expected him to sign anyone so i am not dissapointed. Quite a sad state of affairs I must say - for Wenger to claim there is no striker out there better than Vela, or a still recovering Eduardo and a recently back from injury Bendtner is an insult to all Arsenal fans out there. ![]() A Huntelar on loan wouldn't have killed. We sold Manu and RVP got crocked yet Wenger feels we can forge ahead? He should simply have said he wants to win with the players he has - that is far closer to the truth than the nonsense he's saying now. ![]() agabaI23:Or Jesus walking on water. . . but then He did. ![]() |
duduspace:Such faith! jalether:The key word being at the moment.Everyone and his dog knows Rooney is one of the best in this trade right now.Definately one of the BEST at the moment no doubt. debosky:Different team, different application. We all know Chelsea just have to do enough to earn the possible 3 points. While Chelsea may not be the best at counter-attack,you still can't rule out the fast thinking of Lampard, the pace of Anelka, present form of Malouda, and the crushing effect of our chief tormentor Drogba. While i am not ruling out an upset,i can't really stick my neck out for it. One thing that may be good for us is the return of Diaby which coincides with the absence of Essien and Belleti in the DM position. If we can get our crisp and swift passes on with a point man,we stand a tiny weeny chance. But then i wouldn't be surprised if i see Arshavin being pushed against Terry/Carlvaho again. |
javalove:You can do without the hater and suegbe part,i do not suffer fools gladly but i will let this pass. The fact i do not have orgasm on everything Mode 9 like you is not a pointer to being a hater. Back to the issue. . . .aight i understand the thread was erstwhile about cybercrime and all what not before you barge in with your Mode 9 mantra, but the keyword in my stance is "morals".Why to you everything about Mode 9 signifies the gospel,i can point to some lyrics that are less digniying(even though not in the area of cyber-crime). How poetical is if you "aint about money then i aint concerned" ![]() How moralistic is "listening to Fela getting fellatio from a girl" ![]() u dey make me laff no be small. . .i have attended fuji shows oooooo. . .the money wasiu, osupa and co make on sprays alone can buy off all rug heads man alum. . .no be joke ooooooYou posited Fuji artiste do not brag, and i am telling you that genre(right frm the days of Kollington bragging about chopping a black yam that was Salawa's p%$#$4y)is the most inappropriate to use as an example. How that culminated in me infering they do not have money is what i do not understand. ![]() The same fuji artistes that tag and glorify travelling from Canada to USA as a "world tour"?I laugh in vuvusela. ![]() Orgas.m is now heavenly feeling? even when you are like Java who has hell-like feeling over everything mode 9 ,i laugh in oboe. |
Ibime:What? Words on the www is that even the ref out-ran Denilson yesterday during the course of the 2nd goal by Rooney. Bendtner was "supposed" to be wanted by Barca and AC Milan last season, does that make him an attacker of note? HNIC:Good news?i laugh in rumba stylee. . . isn't it the same docs that opined he will be out for just 6 weeks? If i were you,i will take everything those nitwits say with a pich of a salt. slimshay:Add Song to that list and you will know when you have 7 passengers on the field, there is no way on earth you can win a match. My prayer:May Drogba have mercy on us on Sunday. |
javalove:Don't always say it as if Mode is a paragon of morals. What was he "eulogizing" in big boy raps? And how "poetical" is his song with OD(downtown love or sumn) in his 090909 mix tape? You can argue it from now till eternity but i think it is fool hardy to hold a musician/rapper responsible for what their fans/listeners do. A house in lekki, an infiniti jeep, a deal with glo (which i heared was over 15m), was on star mega jam for 2 years consecutively, with both local, continental and international recognitions. , what more do you ask of a rapper? Because he doesnt flash blings and all that stuff? Of all the rappers in this country, none of them is as rich as an average fuji musician (?in record sales, shows etc) and yet even when they are beefing, they dont go about flashing what is not there. . .Are you for real? You mean the same fuji artists that make music about travelling outside Nigeria and singing to a crowd of 10 people?Or is Saheed Osupa that releases album for every car he hires/buys or every house he rents/builds not a fuji musician? |
edoyad:It will be 8 points by Tuesday evening. |
Half way throw the game and i massed a text to my gooner list, and i am going to repeat it:someday pigs will fly, maybe then we will win the league. It may have been kinda knee-jerked,but it will still be a great miracle if we can close back the gap like we did earlier in the season. And the reason is not far-fetched,you do not teach a winning aura, they earn it.This team is so synonymous with freezing up on the "big stage",it will be extremely difficult to win a cup competition. Yet again,we lost to a team who knows how to hit and when to hit.A team that does just enough to earn 3 points. We were out-smarted. We need to win something, anything to have the "balls" to confront big occasions, and lik i opined yesterday, maybe it is high we started taking the Carling Cup serious. ![]() PS:I think we should be mindful of what we say about players here as no one can tell me Nani was not reactong to some of the things my fellow gooners posted about him in the last few days ![]() |
All hail the King.Kudos to Murray though esp in the 3rd set. Some crazy stuff went down in that tie break. |
That second made by Guti is outta this world. ![]() |
Ibime:I read Wayne's press release and missed this part, can you please avail me of the one that has the enboldened? |
debosky:Or a realist who blurts out what a million and one gooners say in their closet.I wonder how it is easy for we fans to spot somethings easily and Arsene just sticks to his gun, seemingly mindless of what the fans feel. Maybe it is high time we started playing our big guns in the Carling Cup,with an order for them to bust their guts to win it so they can know what and how it feels to WIN. . . . anything. . . . something.Cos really one of the biggest problem we have woth our present players is that they do not have a winning mentality.Or how do you explain the way they bottle up the big occassions? BTW Debo, didn't you "barge" into me when i opined in the subtlest of manner that Arsene may not sign anyone this winter inspite of the lip service he paid to bringing in an attacker? ![]() @Sauron Imagine me trying to kill an "ant" on my laptop screen. ![]() |
dayokanu:Just asked the same thing here.He aint swaggaliciously chewing the gum at all. ![]() In our desperation to score,we may conceed the 2nd goal via a counter attacker or we could be forced to cop a red card.(especially Nwaneri) Meanwhile since we aint doing too much of defending, can't a creative player a la Kanu or Kalu come on? |
For those of us that were pleading for beautiful brand of football, well here it is but then we are losing. |
Lol. . . . naija conceeds |
I like today's line-up. . . . . . There's pace in the ATTACK.
That's what you get with Martins in the attack BUT can they sustain it for 90mins + ? |
Dr Kitaun:The same jazz that can't make us World cup winners?Tell me i do know and is practical.Don't tell me you are one of the originators of the India/Nigeria match that never was PS:If Jazz dey true true,a je pe won sa si omo alhaja ni yen(Baruwa) cos i still can't get my head around how that dude failed to cut it in the NT.@Kay as per Maroc 88, seriously Okwaraji was phenomenal and Nwosu was out of this world, TaRILA Okorowanta, Humphrey Edobor, Bright Omokaro, Sunday Eboigbe, Yisa Sofoluwe et al were simply marvelous . . .remember those were the days we even had a lot of super, i repeat super goalkeepers even young chaps then . . .Angus Ikeji, Lemmy ISA, Ngodigha, . . .in the Nigerian League Ishaya Jatau was painting the league red with goals . . .I remember the cancelled goal and I remember the penalty that never was . . .I DON HATE CAMEROUN TEY TEY . . .While the 94 team(that Westerhoff started building from Algiers 90) had flair, the 88 team had grit and steel.Didnt Omokaro "took" the Algerian'sleg so as to make the number of players on the pitch even? ![]() I could remember vividly that scorcher Sam(of blessed memory)scored against Cameroon at the prem stage ![]() And did you just mention those 2 smiling "keepers"? Lemmy and Angus. Good ol' days isn't it?If our league then can boast of players like Moses Kpakor,Ishaya Jatau,Ajibade Babalade(to mention a few) staking their own in the national team inspite of the presence of the foreign based lads, how come it's not the same now ![]() |
Dr Kitaun:Jazz. . . If it is truly in existence in SPORT,why is Africa not winning the WORLD CUP every year Why is Bash Ali not still Bendely "insured"? You dey see those chinko girls wey dey do gymnasitic shey?why our own winch no dey fly like 'em for Olympics? Togo(and indeed most francophone countries in Africa) should be super a super power if there is a superstitious panacea to football setback.Jazz ko,fuji ni. That match will go down as one of the matches I have ever watched describable as tension-soaked, entertaining and memorably superb !Give me that Nigeria-Algeria match at Maroc 88 anytime anyday.Who can forget Bright Omokaro's(10/10) challenge on that stupid Algerian player after one of his colleague(what is Ademola Adeshina?) had been sent off ![]() seriously I refuse to use any other phrase than to say THEY WERE AT PAR . . .dont u get it ? our boys and theirs played what u could have easily termed THRILLER IN TUNISMy own be say we beat them ![]() PS:Got your drift as per Cameroon and undue advantage in African football,do you remember the penalty that never was in Maroc 88 final and that Nwosu goal that was unduly canceled? |
How was he outstanding? Letz remove sentiments from this discussion. What remarkable thing did Kuffour show in 1999 apart from beating the ground after Solskjaer's goal? He will always be remembered for his crying in 1999 than his football.
You dey craze ![]() While the black nazi was beating the turf,i was beating the nearest object to me,a table. Those slackers made me lose a lot of money after betting against Man U. Sauron are you for real?Do you really mean Kuffor didn't do anything remarkable in the Bayern team?Of course he was an integral and important part of that team that got to the final in 99,and please don't do the O'shea comparison.Kuffor was outstanding for Bayern, end of. |
Dr Kitaun:Almost at par you mean. One index that could be used to judge the 2 teams played itself out when both met in Tunis 94 and we BEAT them.I agree totally with your assertion about how competitive that tourney was.Between Maroc 88 and Tunis 94,ACN was a competition to look forward to. I can count on how many matches i have seen in this present tourney on one hand. The officiating on one hand is another story entirely. Senegal 92 CIV side had a chance of staying together, achieving an unusual synergy synonymous to our Arab brothers, and by 1994, it took a powerfully graceful Nigerian side to out-do them in that game . . .Bless you bro. That 92 team was compact and played like a pack of wolves on hunt, hence my word EFFICIENT.Isn't that the reason the peeps up North Africa always have one over their sub-saharan brothers?Together Each Achieves More. pls lets not forget that the likes of Fofana, Traore, Tiehi, Goumane, Bassole were at their peak then, but for our own SE to get to the zenith of their careers they had to do in the Ivoriens first . . .had our SE lost that match our GOLDEN GENERATION WOULDNT HAVE BEEN ANY GOLDENPermit to sound hyperbolic here.Every member of that SE 94 was at their peak then. ![]() lastly, the jazz factorRain fall that day? Africans and stupidity. |
