The passage below is clear on what it is you are saved from and what it is you get instead when you are saved. If you read clearly, you will see that there is no mention of those who are saved from the condemnation of sin that is death receiving anything but eternal life.


Believing that Jesus Christ is Lord only grants you salvation, which bestows the gift of eternal life on you and nothing more. And in the Gospel of John, Jesus Christ thoroughly explained that the only guarantee that comes with being saved from the condemnation of sin that is death is ETERNAL LIFE - not the spirit of God, or even Heaven itself.

All those who believe in Him will hear His voice, as you are told in verse 28 above. But this gift of ETERNAL LIFE is(pay attention to verse 28 and 29) to be spent by those who believe either in Heaven or in Hell, depending on what one chooses to do after receiving it.

Jesus Christ indeed made it clear that only those who live in obedience of Him, become worthy of Him. Read what Jesus Christ Himself said about who He will indwell through His Spirit and what will happen in the lives of those who receive Him.
So, only those who live in obedience will He, Jesus Christ and the Father come to live inside of, and they can live according to the Will of the Father.

That "will" to obey is to believe! We are saying the same thing

And Luke did not suggest that it would be the exact case for every one who received the spirit of God upon their lives.

My question is, apart from that Pentecost, in other occasions where men received the Holy Spirit, did they also saw the same spectacular occurrence?

They spoke with tongues and prophesied.. Again, no earthquakes.


Elijah saw a wind, but God wasn't in it

He saw earthquake, but God was not it
God spoke in a still small voice.

Once you believe that Jesus is Lord and confess the same, you're saved, and the Holy Ghost begins to reside in you, earthquake or no earthquake

Before Jesus Christ left the earth, His disciples were sure that they already had a place waiting for them in Heaven. All through the Gospels, we have evidence that these things are not kept from us but in fact, revealed to those who belong to Him.

As a result, it is my belief that God still confirms, at least to those who are of them, their new status in Him.

The only outward evidence that is CONSISTENT through all scripture for the indwelling of the Spirit is Speaking in Tongues. Acts 2, 8, 10, 16, all spoke with tongues, there was no "voice from heaven", nor "rushing mighty wind".

You don't expect spectacular things to happen every time because somebody somewhere is receiving the Holy Spirit

New birth often leads to a change of conducts, however, a change of conducts IS NOT the new birth. There are many who have quit all those things you mentioned but aren't born again.

The word of God is the confirmation. It's by faith. Just the same way we believe that anybody who has confessed Jesus is saved and we don't seek anything else to "confirm" it

I need your advice on how to go about with this. I am born again and I have been baptized for years now and yet I don't feel like I posses the holy spirit it's something I want really badly and yet I don't see myself receiving it.
Note: this is not as a result of lack of belief because I very much believe in the holy spirit and his works.

Talking about Suffering! There are various angles to it

1. God has a Principle for Prosperity! The Principle was given to all irrespective of whether you are Saved or not! The Principle is Gen8:22.
Prosperity does not really answer to Fasting!
Prosperity Answers to Principles. So you might see someone who is Prayer warrior and poor because he/she does not practice the principles. You might see a person who is not Saved but Practices the Principle having it easy.

Godliness in Prosperity puts a Divine hedge around you. It gives you Prosperity without Pains. It gives You Prosperity with Rest !

2. Trials could be God Training you to Make you the Man or Woman that he wants you to be. Trials have Helped me in life. I have Learnt to Trust God and it has made me a Stronger Beliver.

3. There are People who God Almighty being the Alpha and Omega has seen that if this one gets the Blessings, He will be lost! I have Personally seen people like that! Small Blessing comes and the brother know longer knows Church. He is now too busy to serve God. Many have died like that and went to hell. So God decides to shell you by training you and keeping u in check..

The Most Important thing is for us To have an Understanding of God and of Life.

When we come to that level we will see that God will take care of us in his own Pace.
