Yeah, the missed goal was just the punctuation mark with how Nigerians have felt about Yakubu for many years. Dude just gives zero effort when he puts on that eagles shirt, it just seems like he'd rather be anywhere else but on the football pitch whenever he plays for Nigeria. I actually like the guys touch on the ball, and he can finish with both legs, but all of that amounts to nothing if the effort is not there. He had many chances to prove himself, but failed to perform, his lack of determination exemplified everything that was wrong with the Eagles. I won't miss him on the team. |
@agabaI23, you have made some very salient points. Nigeria doesn't work because at the moment of truth, people let their better judgments be clouded by their ethnic biases. It's appalling that some people have become Buhari apologists just to spite Jonathan. If IBB should hide his head in shame for what he has done to this country, Buhari should do the same. Recently, Prof. Wole Soyinka wrote an article to remind Nigerians of whom Buhari truly is ,as it seems like many have forgotten the true nature of this man. In addition to all that was mentioned, one cannot forget his complicity in the Abacha PTF money squandering scheme. It's one thing not to support Jonathan, but it's just ridiculous to advocate Buhari as the savior that Nigeria needs. |
I don't think Ojukwu's bravery and gallantary has ever been in question. As a very young man in his early thirties, he embrassed responsibilities that many would have shied away from. As the commander in chief of Briafran, he marched into combat with the troops on several occassions when he didn't have to. He held on to hope for Briafra until the very bitter end, when it was clear that the objective was not attainable. I am glad he left when he did, and that he is alive today to hold his head up high. Nigeria never had the satisfaction of capturing or parading the Ikemba around, they would have probably executed him given that he (more than anyone else) represented what Biafra stod for. Ndigbo do not feel like Ojukwu bailed on the Biafran project, we are glad he left when he did and that he is still with us today. The war was damn near over when Ojukwu left, I would have been disappointed if he let them capture him or even surrendered. |
This ACN really makes me laugh. With no influence whatsoever in the the SE or SS or anywhere not called SW, the least they could have done was to get Ribadu a running mate from these parts of the country. Instead, they shut down Ribadu's eforts to get his VP from the east. They already have the Yoruba votes, 'supposedly', so why not reach out to others. Oh well, let me seat back and see how the plan to muster even one vote outside of the SW. |
@excanny I don't know what you mean by flawed arguement, when you are reinforcing my point. I agree that they are not Igbo in the least. The Nigerian that bears an English name knows that he's not English, and would not claim his people to be the originators of the English language. Surely, he knows of his mother tongue, even if he cannot speak it. This is quite different from claiming Igbo as the original langauge and culture of your forefathers, yet claiming no relationship to the rest of the Igbo. I suggested they rid themselves of anything that might suggest that they are Igbo, including the language. This is not a new concept here. They started to rename the villages in port-harcourt long ago i.e umuokoro to rumuokoro (which is not radical enough to me, as it still sounds kinda Igbo). I'm only imploring them to thoroughly execute this exercise and completely detach from that which they so obviously hate; being Igbo. |
Not this arguement again. All this could be avoided if all those who insist that they are not Igbo, but merely borrowed the Igbos names, language, culture and tradition, would kindly desist from such a practice and return all they have borrowed from the rightful owners. No one would ever mistake you for Igbo if you stop bearing Emeka, Obinna etc, celebrating the same festivals, having the same deities, masquerades, having the same market days, or wearing the same traditional regalia as the Igbo. Just as you conveniently adopted the Igbo way of life, without being Igbo, you can adopt another, or even better, invent or return to your own authentic culture. Lastly, advice those your wayward brothers that insist on identifying with the Igbo to please stop it. They are the biggest source of confusion to us(Ndigbo). Do these, and in no time those of us that are truly Igbo would have no reason whatsoever to identify with you, and peace shall reign for all. |

I fancy the Ngwa and Owerri dialects. |
Well, I won't say the Yorubas developed lagos. It was developed with federal money because it was the nations capital, and nigerians of ALL ethnicities have contributed immensely to what makes Lagos the economic center of Nigeria, PERIOD. Remove the contributions of other Nigerians from Lagos, and all the federal money dumped into its develpoment and you have NOTHING. If Tinubu can come from Osun state to become governor of lagos, then I think others too can aspire for the same. In the case of Abuja, the FCT minister's position is not reserved for indigenes of Abuja. On the other hand, I can see how the Yorubas would fight to maintain their political relevance in lagos, its only natural to seek to retain a favorable position. |
I'm not particularly familiar with the statement that Goodluck made, so I would desist from any insults as many here have resorted to. Quite frankly, I doubt that most people here even know what or to whom Goodluck was refering to, when he made the comments. Moreover, I'm not thrilled by the attempts of some in specific parts of this country to blow out of proportion every perceived mistep by GEJ. I still find GEJ to be the most appealling candidate of all the eligible candidates with any meaningful chance of winning (some folks are just wasting their time and resources), and I expect him to carry the vast majority of the votes in the SS and SE. He should also do very well in the middle-belt and might do better than most expect in the north. I really don't know what his chances are in the SW, they might all line up behind ACN and call it a day, which won't suprise me, based on my observations of their politics in the past. GEJ is not a saint, he certainly does not possess a magic wand that would fix all of Nigeria's problems, and none of the vying candidates does. In any case, I expect Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to emerge as the new president of Nigeria. |

Lol, Yoruba make una chill with the gra-gra. This is what you expect from your delegates; to make sure your interest is protected. People just get worked up over every little issue, abeg breath in, breath out and go enjoy your lives. Aunty Dora, carry on. |
At least Goodluck put together a committee to review the performance of his government, and did not sweep their findings under the carpet, to save face. This is more than I can say for all the previous adminstrations in Nigeria. Ribadu needs to sit down, he was nothing more than Obasanjo's attack dog! |
The FBI thinks this guy really stole close to a $100 million, they can only confirm the $44mill. If I say that I'm not amazed at this fellow, I'll be telling a bold faced lie. I don't envy him, I don't encourage what he did, but I would accord him his due recognition as a criminal mastermind. Being this succesful in crime or even in legitimate endeavours is not easy. |
My goodness!!!!!!!! See what they have done again, the sight of those pictures tore my heart to shreds. Unfortunately, we tried to warn you all of the mad men living with us, with a sick desire to 'dip the Quaran in the atlantic'. Then, it was mostly the Igbos under attack, so no one cared. Some laughed and ridiculed the fleeing Igbos, others sent their traditional rulers to tour the north and thank them for sparing their people in their progroms! Well, now they are no longer as selective as they used to be, their thirst for blood has led them to attack even those that joined them a few years ago to fight the Igbos. The truth is that every year since the end of the civil war, these marauders have found one flimsy excuse or another to attack christians in the north, and many shied away from the truth by dismissing it as tension between Igbos and their northern hosts. Now, their true intentions are undeniable, as they've announced it for all to hear. As usual, their leaders feign ignorance and blame it on the extremist few. Be not deceived, they are all directly or indirectly involved, and even those with no involvement do not care to hide their indifference to the killing of christians in their territory. How many of them have you heard actively comdemning these atrocities and calling for justice against the perpetrators? Every now and then, some might suggest that it is unfortunate or even blame the government for its complicity. Never an apology or pledge to stop the madness( or even a pledge to attempt to do so). Mba! They are too busy doing their own part by threatening Goodluck Jonathan with fire and brimstone if he does not evacuate the office of the presidency. Tufiakwa! Nigeria a tala ahuhu!!!!!!!!!! |
This is the reason Nigeria has no hope. This ethnicism monster would consume us from the inside out until there is nothing left! Most of these people that pick up their matchetes as soon as they hear the name Dora Akunyili are simply inspired by their Igbo hate. I find no good reason to despise this woman, none. 'They' say her efforts to rebrand naija were futile, and that she was wrong to ask us to stop using 'naija' in official matters. Wow, what heinous crimes! No wonder she is so despised in a particular part of this country. |
The Nigerian story is just begining to take shape, in the next few years we're going to see the true colours of this nation. You guys can laugh or insult Atiku all you want, but I hope you're not taking his threat lightly. Deep down, the North believes that they can regulate the affairs of Nigeria as they wish and resort to violence if need be. Ndigbo told this to all that cared to listen, but for our efforts, the rest of the south joined the north to fight us. The north cannot even dream of threatening violence if the south were united. I used to live in the north, and I saw Igbo guys fight these folks to a stand still in their own place, they are quick to violence, but they are not very good at absorbing the violence when it is dished back at them. For 'Mr. Consensus candidate Atiku' to say what he said, the extremist elements in the north could be considering violence as an option if they don't get their way, other foreign agencies have already warned of the impending threat of secterian violence in Nigeria, and 'unknown' individuals are importing heavy artillery into Nigeria. Yet, fools are carrying on like the hand writing is not on the wall. My own concern is for Alaigbo, everyone else can do whatever they want with themselves in this wicked land. No one is yearning for violence, but we must not be caught napping. Everyone needs to be on their toes throughout this power transition period. Better be prepared and get your minds right. |
I would not partake in the Dora bashing, quite frankly I admire the woman. She is an academic of international repute and I've been impressed by her efforts in government. I gave her a lot of credit as others did, when she spoke up against the continued absence of Yar'adua. It took a lot of courage to do that, as no one else in the adminstration was willing to do the right thing, out of fear or selfishness. Her work at NAFDAC speaks for itself. Moreover, her statement on the use of Naija may be misguided but it was with good intentions. I agree that she is not in her true element as a minister for information, but this is not a position that rigidly requires any particular qualifications. There are too many devils in Nigeria for me to waste my time bashing a woman that has rendered meaningful service to the country. |
See haters o. Riddle me this, how many of you ugly ducklings have ever been approached to do a photo shoot for anything in your miserable lives? Please post the pictures of your mothers, sisters, wives or girlfriends, so that we can see what true beauty is. Bloody simpletons!!!!!!!!!! |

Hardly educated, of no use to anybody and just very, very lazy. They have turned ABA into a rubbish city. ---------------------------------------------- @hackney, you must be a very daft fellow. Ndi Ngwa are very wonderful people, and I can say without a doubt that they have to be one of the most educated sectors of Ala Igbo. I don't know what bush you hail from, but I doubt they have as many academics as the Ngwa. Aba is a rubbish city? I'm not suprised as most of the inhabitants now are not Ngwa. This Osisikankwu guy is from Ukwa, and not an Ngwa man. Ndi Igbo can do without your kind, whom are quick to plant seeds of discord among brethren. |
In my estimation, Ekwueme has always been a man of integrity, and I have come to admire him for of his upstanding ways. In a country governed by miscreants it is no suprise that a virtuous individual like Ekwueme would be kept far from the corridors of power. Once again, the old man has spoke the truth, which is that PDP indeed did institute a rotational system for the office of the presidency. This is a party agreement, and has no constitutional backing, but as we all know, PDP's strangle hold on Nigeria is not going anywhere soon. However, we need to be intimated on the details of this PDP agreement, because it won't be out of place to suggest that the north had their turn with Yardua in office. It is no ones fault that he died when he did. |
Oh my goodness, why did the idiot Ilugunboy have to insert his ethnic bigotry into this matter. Is this the first time someone has quit his/her political party in Nigeria ![]() ?? |
