Season greetings to my esteem followers of this thread......may the unfolding planting season bring us all plantain farmer good tidings. May we not experience the attack which has become a worrisome development to all farmers It been a while we updated our post on this topic. It for no other reason than the fact that we are now in resting period. A visit to the farm today after last visit in October2017. The suckers apear to be doing great despite the non availability of water. Our plantation is 8months old now. Though they have not started fruiting. When they are 10months above it is expected that the bunches will start emerging. But the fruit grow into very big bunches when watered by the first rain. Thus, we gonna wait for the rain to start in Ernest before we start harvesting. If your plantain suckers experience distress due to non availability of water, then u did not do your home work properly when your suckers where tender. Unfortunately, when the suckers enters puberty, there is little or nothing you can do to avert any unpleasant physical appearance. It is for this reason we are encouraging potential plantain farmers to make adequate findings before venturing into plantain cultivation. Seek for the professional advise of the Masters in the Biz........Remember, ignorance is never a reason for failure. Cheers!!

Season greatings to all our esteem and potential customers!!!!!! May this new awaited planting season be a testimony to all farmers.... Gradually we are attracting the attention of our Government. It is our belief that soonest Agriculture will take up the stage in the Nigeria Economy.. We at kenfarm wish to bring the below info to the notice of our potential fatmers and those hoping to put that idle land of thires to use this farming season....... Are we aware that soil in the tropical zone when brought under cultivation quickly become deficient in many nutrients due to LEACHING caused by excessive rainfall Also, we wish to inform you that With intensive cropping, nitrogen is the primary limiting nutrient followed by phosphorus......(more info in our eBook). Also, are we aware that the most suitable soil for cassava production is a well-drained sandy loam and loamy sand soil base on Research If this is the case, don't we think it wise to test for your soil fertility before puting that farm land to cultivation of TME419 cassava stem The soil fertility test will reveal the lacking nutrient in your farm land soil, it will indicate the soil PH, it will tell you soil textural class so as to know the type of soil you have in your farm land. All of these soil properties and more are what kenfarm will test and also give concise recommendations base on your soil fertility test outcome. nzedon2:I am not into peanaple cultivation....but I planted few in my backyard garden. Thus I get to know they are due for harvest in more than 6months (I may be wrong though) However, I must let you know that it not an Agronomic bast practise to plant the same crop which are usually harvested on thesame duration. This practise encourage competition for nutrients amongst the two crops thereby compromising the both the quality and quantity of the yield. Rather, intercrop crop with long harvest period and short harvest period ( e.g: 9months and 2-3moths). Also it important you intercrop two crops that strive on soil of the same PH Cheers!! |
