davodguy: For the open minded, I decided to open this thread. President Buhari has received lots of criticism over the current challenges of the country. In all fairness, the man has genuine interest in turning for the better fortunes of this country, but some people who may still be bitter by the loss of their hero, sees nothing good in anything PMB is doing or has done so far.
I decided to create this topic to actually verify if Nigeria was indeed better under Jonathan than it is now, under PMB. Power sector is the first to examine
Under GEJ January to April, 2015
Under PMB
Causes of drop in power supply under GEJ
Causes of drop in supply under PMB
Its very clear from the foregoing that the magic that GEJ couldn't perform from May 2010 to May 2015, its not easy for buhari to do same within 11 months This OP, you're terribly biased. How could you be comparing the worst of power generation in the twilight of GEJ's administration to the best of power generation in Buhari's administration? Does it make sense to you? Did you mention that for the first time in history, Nigeria generated 0MW of electricity over a space of 3 hours under Buhari? http://www.punchng.com/power-generation-crumbles-to-0mw-for-several-hours/I stay in Maitama Abuja, which used to have one of the best electricity supply in Nigeria since time immemorial. Currently, we record less than 10 hours of electricity on several days, a situation that almost never occurred around 2012, 2013. |

Case closed But you know there is a subtle difference between suspension and cable styled bridges. Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge is a cable styled bridge, from your link. That said, if you look at that link bridge very well, you will see that the location where the pillars of the suspension tower were erected could simply have carried another supporting pillar. The only difference is that the suspension tower didn't directly support the bridge at that point, but only does so through the cables. So, it's more of an aesthetics stuff. That's why I earlier said it's not a real suspension bridge. |

It not a full suspension bridge but it's the only one in Nigeria.
The design clearly shows it. A pillar holding two platforms via cables with no pillar beneath.
Again. That's the only one in Nigeria http://www.worldhighways.com/categories/road-highway-structures/news/new-bridge-connection-from-nigeria-to-cameroon/Take note of this point in the link: "The new structure will take the place of the single lane suspension bridge currently connecting Nigeria with Cameroon but which has insufficient capacity for the traffic needs." That was the first picture I showed you. See another link with an excerpt from it: http://www.mydestination.com/nigeria/usefulinfo/6183004/getting-there"There are two principal borders between Nigeria and Cameroon, one in the south near Ikom, north of Calabar and one in the north near Maiduguri. Mfun border is 30km to the east of Ikom where the road is tar-sealed to the border. Here there is a rather grand suspension bridge over the Cross River, which forms part of the border." |

shamecurls: Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge is suspension bridge as the cables re suspending 2 platforms with a buried pillar in the lagoon.
The Architecture of that bridge is wack and a a waste of resource. A suspension bridge with pillars scattered in the water holding the bridge isn't a suspension bridge. The idea behind a suspension bridge is that the weight of the bridge and those of the vehicles on it will be transmitted to the suspension towers through the cables. As such, there are very few to no pillars in the water. In the case of Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge, the pillars underwater are just like the ones holding the 3rd mainland bridge, and even the so called suspension tower still holds the bridge as a pillar. Which bridge's architecture is wack? The border crossing bridge? That is a real suspension bridge, if you compare it to standard suspension bridges all over the world. Secondly, that bridge is over 50 years old so don't think it was built yesterday. The first picture is Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge. Compare it with the pictures of the other suspension bridges.

Not that of Anambra that is building a FAKE SUSPENSION BRIDGE and his people re lauding the quack architecture Be frank to yourself, nobody said they are suspension bridges. The 'suspension towers' and cables are just for aesthetics. Even the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge built by Fashola isn't a real suspension bridge. The only true suspension bridge I know in Nigeria is the Nigeria-Cameroon border crossing in Cross River State.

Odogwujoshua: asaba is anioma look at the banners i dislike igbos Anioma is not the name of an ethnic group. For your information, Anioma was derived from the first letters of the Igbo speaking LGAs in Delta (or former Bendel) State, with 'MA' suffixed to it to form an apparently real name. A - Aniocha N - Ndokwa I - Ika O - Oshimili + MA That gives you Anioma. Whether you like Igbos or not, if you are from any of Oshimili North and South LGAs (Asaba and it's environs) and Aniocha North and South LGAs (Issele Uku, Ogwashi Uku and their environs), you are Igbo. People from Ika North and South LGAs call themselves Ika, which appears like an ethnic group on its own, while those from Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West and Ukwuani LGAs call themselves Ukwuani. |

He has acquired the right over her head. Gender based violence is wrong buh the igbo elders who should know better are encouraging it, for the pleasure of a few cartons of hot drinks. Talk of the value they place on Igbo ladies. Pathetic. Your post makes no sense, honestly. Have you ever read that there are more cases of domestic violence meted on Igbo ladies than ladies from other tribes in Nigeria? If you care to know, divorce is more among Yorubas than Igbos, and Igbo men are more caring towards their wives than men from many other tribes. Even though I don't encourage families making heavy demands on their prospective in-laws, the truth is that no amount charged will be enough to cover what the parents really spent in raising their daughters, especially when the said girls are responsible. Also, it's not in all Igbo states that you see all these high demands for marriage. Such things are rarely seen in Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi. Marriage in these 3 states I mentioned, on the average could be as cheap as in many other parts of Nigeria. |

However I'm not going to say much on NL because I've known about these murderous bands even before the "birth" of NL, they only gained so much attention now that SM is the norm, They've always been this way...... Ghanians, Camerounians,in short most of WA!

Is it not same people that will turn around to mock Omenka with Agatu massacre, Yoruba with Olu Falae's abduction & the Ibos with the defilling of innocent women?! No I won't be coerced into joining the purposeless baying.
These murderous cretins restrict their blood letting to the South & NC with few & far between attacks on the agrarian NE communities.

Let me quote myself with the hope that you never bother me over this no more: Everyone has their ways of responding to issues just as I have mine. I am not answerable to you or anyone else on the forum for that matter. There are lots of posters, and I'll say it, from the SE, who fervently pray these attacks go on unabated so they could have some ammo to shoot Baba with. It doesn't matter to them people are dying, all that matters is Baba looking bad!
We've seen them openly celebrate these incidences on the forum with so much pomp. When terrorists who kill innocent people are killed, they get upset, insisting the pics we see are mere "propaganda", or at best, completely avoid such threads. They thread runs a couple of pages and then grow cold!
But when a bomb goes off and people die, you see them jumping all over the place excitedly keeping the thread very much alive even after ten pages!! How does one reason with such beasts?? The other one who is a renown pro Biafra poster even at some point openly declared "Frankly, I love it when Boko Haram kills the soldiers"!! Can you imagine that??
Today, it was reported some Igbo businessmen were killed in Bayelsa by some criminals who followed them all the way to their houses, incidences that resulted in a protest by Igbo leaders in the state. Now, these people who always insist I come lick their butts and tell them what a disgusting and incompetent president Buhari is whenever fulanis strike all went "divide and rule tactics by APC propaganda media"!! Imagine that. To them, it was of no importance lives were lost, as far as the murders weren't blamed on fulanis! Not a single one of them condemned the incident.
I make strong statements about these incidents on twitter and fb but deliberately choose not to talk about them on the forum because of the disgusting attitude of the anti Buhari elements here.
That is how I've chosen to be, and anyone not comfortable with my position is on their own.
Good night. Just like there are irrational PDP supporters, such people also abound in APC. These so-called celebration of terrorist attacks you mentioned started by APC members before 2015 election. The party itself made it a point of duty to celebrate every bomb blast, and rub it on Jonathan's face that he was incompetent. Before the advent of APC when it was only ACN, ANPP, APGA etc, little was known about bitter politics in Nigeria (at the federal level). Your party leaders and members began to celebrate the struggles of the past administration with glee, while people like you watched on with excitement and enthusiasm. Now that PDP has learnt your brand of politics and is giving it back to you, what gospel of patriotism are you trying to preach? Because your party is now in power, you remember the government and military should be supported and not mocked. While I condemn the actions and statements of those who clearly wish Nigeria evil because of party affiliations, I boldly say that people like you are not to be taken serious. You only say the truth when it favours you and your party, while you hibernate when your party flops. |

Why is it that people like modath will never make a comment about this? All you APC supporters are shouting about the corruption perpetrated by Jonathan's government, but I ask you, is this not a worse form of corruption - keeping silent while the people you swore an oath to protect are being slaughtered like animals in their ancestral homeland?
Modath and co, imagine that this or the Agatu incident happened in your home town and your close relatives were affected, would you still keep quiet? The government is boasting that Boko Haram has been eradicated, meanwhile Fulani militants have continued from where BH stopped, but nobody is saying anything. Is this fair?
The Bible implies that the soul of one person is worth more than the whole world in the scripture, "what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul". How come Buhari and the entire FG have refused to address this herdsmen issue? I know they were there even in Jonathan's time, but quite frankly, their attacks have been multiplied now.
Why are the FG and many politicians keeping quiet? Why? Why are modath, Omenka, NgeneUkwenu, Passingshot etc not saying anything about these killings? Fulanimafia, do you really feel comfortable with what your kinsmen are doing? Mynd44 and mynd, are you both okay with all these? |

Can anyone see how articulate the OP is with his post yet he does not have the intelligence to figure out the only senator that as spoken out on the inclusion of the budget is Gbenga Ashafa from the SouthWest. He can not comprehend every other senator that as spoken against the inclusion either through the back or front door as been from the SE/SS.
This OP can write so well but lack the intelligence to understand a northerner senator would have shut his or her mouth not minding the project was sneaked in tru the window or back door so long it is beneficial to his regions or tribe he'd support it.
While this OP is clearly right about the gaffe from the president and the minister what happened to his medula that should remind him that the reason why we have the supplementary budget is simply because the gaffe in the initial budget were outrageous and untenable which necessitated the need for the now acceptable supplementary budget yet he based his argument on a document already discarded by the senate. A document which was aslo confirmed by the presidency as a fraud.
Will the OP claim he does not understand this I doubt and this bring us back to what exactly is wrong with the reasoning of some of the Igbo's on NL and why instead of appreciating what is beneficial to them would rather antagonize these laudable incentives just to spite Buhari.
While the OP might be right about the dangers of having warring faction in the APC it should be noted the party is bound to suffer more from any effect of their disunity than Nigeria. In fact I believe this is a blessing in disguise to keep the polilooters from both the APC n PDP in check. The adage only a thief can trace the footpath of another thief does justice to this notion.
The Saraki looting crew will always be mindful of every financial transaction it undertake while it continously seek space at disgracing any gaffe from the Buhari/Tinubu crew. Nigeria can only be the winner with such a situation. Your hatred for Igbos is glaring. It's terribly crazy! Are you aware that that rail line traverses South West and South South, but merely touches the borders of South East at 2 points. It means it won't make a lot of sense using that rail line to travel from Onitsha to Aba because the distance will be far more than the road distance, but you can use it to travel from Calabar to Benin or from Ore to Lagos, and it won't be father than going by road. Yet in all these things, you chose to focus your attack on Igbos. Despite all you hatred on Igbos, we will keep moving forward. Let that sink into your head. |

bloodyBLOGGER: One of the major problems wrong with Nigerians is that we forget easily. This is the reason why hardened criminals and looters in the past can easily come back and contest for public office to the extent of winning. It is so sad that some people, mostly youths who are the leaders of tomorrow are going about with the slogan "#BringBackOurCorruption". They say they want the last administration presided by Good luck Ebele Jonathan back in power cos they can't stand the current fuel scarcity amidst other challenges that I believe the Nation will breeze through in due time.
This brainwashed blind bats who love to view things ethnically are quick to forget that the fuel scarcity experienced towards the end of the last administration's tenure was really unbearable compared to what we are currently facing now. Then, major sectors were shutting down, from telecommunications to the media, from aviation to banking. Nigerians were literally cut off from the rest of the world during that period. A period in which getting a bus to the bank to withdraw money was difficult cos buses had no fuel. When you manage to get to the bank, you are told you arrived late cos they close early due to shortage of diesel. Was the power sector any different?
Take a look at the pictures of fuel scarcity events that took place in the last administration below and tell me that Nigerians didn't make a good choice in voting them out. You are either very ignorant or refusing to be frank to yourself. Throughout Jonathan's tenure up until February to April 2015, there was no fuel scarcity. It was when it became clear that Buhari was going to win, and ended up winning the election that independent marketers decided to ground petrol import. What was their reason? Buhari said he didn't know anything called petrol subsidy. For that singular reason, the marketers were afraid that their accrued benefits wouldn't be paid. That was the sole reason why they grounded petrol imports. The situation was worsened by the then opposition (APC) who saw a good chance to stain the little reputation left of GEJ's administration. If not for the comments of Buhari, I'm nearly certain that that scarcity wouldn't have happened. It was clearly a manipulative move by the marketers and opposition. |
