There was a mild drama at the Aguata prisons in Anambra State when a defendant, Tobias Mbaekwe who was granted bail on health condition, declined to leave the prison environment despite family’s readiness to meets the bail conditions.
Mbaekwe, who hailed from Ozubulu in Ekwusigo local government area of the state, was among the three juveniles who were incarcerated at medium security prisons, Aguata and ten others freed by the State Chief Judge, Justice Peter Umeadi on health ground and delay in prosecution.

The defendant collapsed on the floor shortly after the ruling that he would be granted bail, begging the Chief Judge to allow him stay back in the prison, where he said his life will be more secured.

He informed the court that his relatives, numbering thirty one, have ganged up to kill him.

“They said they will kill me if I come back home. They grabbed my father’s land after killing him in 1980. They latter kidnapped me and threatened to kill me and that is why they abandoned me here since 2012,” he cried out.

Justice Umeadi however directed the Aguata Prisons Welfare Officer to take the defendant to the DPP of Ozubulu Police station who would in turn accompany him home.

He also directed that the defendant be visited every three months, adding that he could be re-arraigned by the DPO anytime they wanted to prosecute him.

The Chief Judge, during his visit to the prison for jail delivery service, also discharged a 34-year-old Obinna Nwankwo Udemgba who was incarcerated since 2013 but has not been prosecuted by the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Ruling on his case, Justice Umeadi discharged the defendant on the ground of unnecessary delay by DPP to commence trial on the matter brought against the defendant as well as the attitude of the defendant’s relatives who abandoned him in the prison.

Other defendants granted bails during the prison decongestion visit were Japhet Onwuchekwe, Toochukwu Onyebuchi, Sunday Ulebe (Ebonyi), Amandi Dim, Chinonso Onyejeckwe and others.

Justice Umeadi said the exercise was targeted at bringing the court closer to the inmates, describing it as part of the corporate social responsibility of the third arm of the government.

He commended the security agencies, DPP, Prison officers, Red Cross society, the judiciary and others for their efforts in ensuring that the exercise was a success.

On his part, the Assistant Controller of Aguata prisons, Mr. Ubaenyi Patrick described the visit as relief to the prison authorities and family of the inmates, revealing that the 80 capacity prison facility houses 191 inmates, out of which, 161 were awaiting trial.

To start with, no South Eastern state gave up to 500k votes to PDP in 2015. There was poor voters turn out in the South East.
Just be sure that the whole Northern votes will be shared nearly equally between PDP and APC. As a matter of fact, North East and North Central will vote massively for PDP cos Buhari has failed to protect them from Boko Haram and rampaging fulani terrorists. Buhari isn't getting any significant votes from them again.
South West votes will still be divided but more for APC anyway.
South East and South South are all for PDP.
APC is going home in 2019 bro.

First, PDP chairman is from South South not South East, so there is nothing about same region for chairman and VP you erroneously mentioned there.

Secondly, South West already has the position of Vice Chairman (South) in PDP. South East has only 2 insignificant positions in the entire exco. You know why South Easterners didn't bother grabbing positions in PDP?

Thirdly, South East has a significant regional influence in PDP next to South South, and has suffered the most as a result of voting for PDP in this present government. South West has only Ekiti as a PDP state, therefore they carry very little weight.

Fourthly, vice presidency cannot just go to the south west again after having it under APC. Also Fayose isn't such a sellable candidate nationally.

Let's even assume they give it to Fayose, there isn't any big deal. One thing you should realise is that Igbos aren't so much desperate for that presidency not to talk of VP position. If we were, we would have decamped to APC in droves and will be supporting Buhari now, just for the chance of presidency by 2023.
By 2027, nobody will argue with the South East for their 'right' to produce the president.

The Chairman of Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVABORN), Mr. Olayinka Sonaike, has died at the age of 74.

According to Punchng, Sonaike who was appointed the chairman of the board in March 2017, died while delivering his speech at an event at the headquarters of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission in Abuja on Tuesday.

After the acting Chairman of the ICPC, Mr. Bako Abdullahi; the Secretary, Dr. Musa Usman, the Head of Department, Education (ICPC), Mohammed Baba; and the President and Chairman of Council, Nigerian Institute of Management, Prof. Munzali Jibril, delivered their speeches, the first session ended after which most journalists had left the venue.

It was learnt that around 1pm, when Sonaike was to make his presentation, he picked up the microphone and was still flipping through the pages of his document when he slumped.

The nurses at the ICPC sickbay were immediately alerted and they administered first aid but he was still not responding.

He was conveyed unto a vehicle and rushed to Limi Hospital, where he was certified dead.

One of the participants who spoke to PUNCH‘s correspondent said;

“Around 1pm, Mr. Sonaike who was made the chairman of the session because he was the first to arrive at the venue, was about to make his presentation when he slumped.

Of course, we all ran towards him and started pouring water on his face in a bid to revive him but he did not respond.

The nurses at the ICPC sickbay were immediately alerted and they administered first aid but he was still not responding. He was conveyed unto a vehicle and rushed to the Limi Hospital which is located in the next compound.

Less than an hour later, the ICPC acting chairman and other senior employees of the commission went to the hospital to see how he was doing but he was certified dead.”

It was learnt that some senior members of ESVARBON had gone to Sonaike’s home to inform his family of his demise.

You should understand something. The argument isn't just about paying tithe (as of the tithe mentioned in the old testament). It's about Freeze and his goons being jealous that people are giving so much money to the church, and some men of God are apparently diverting the money.

Even if you stop people from paying tithes, you cannot stop believers from giving to support the ministry or from sowing seeds. And you cannot determine how much people give from their earnings. The girl in Shiloh video gave an equivalent of her 1 year earnings as seed. That is equivalent to 10 years tithe (at her salary level as at 2016). She gave that huge amount at once, and she did that out of her own volition. Nobody compelled her to do so.

In the early church, people gave everything they had (100%) to the church. If we are arguing about 10%, then it means most of us would have left the church in those days.

He said, "the poor you will always have among you...". The truth is that poverty can never be eradicated in the society. Even in the most developed nations of the world, there are still poor people.

Can you give me a scriptural reference for the part in bold with respect to the new testament.

Can Freeze show us his philanthropic works so far, since he believes the money given to the church enriches pastors, and should otherwise be given directly to the poor. Can we see and know what Freeze has done for the poor so far. How many foundations has he set up with his money, fame and connections to help the poor he is suddenly campaigning for?

Are you aware that many managers of orphanages divert funds and food items meant for the children? Some orphanages in the cities have just so many people giving them money and food items week in, week out such that their managers steal some of the stuff donated to them.
So will you stop giving to the orphanages because some of the money gets stolen?

The believers in the early church sold ALL they had and deposited them at the apostles' feet, who then distributed the money according to people's needs. Now, we're talking about just 10%.

In my church, the money from the tithe is used to support missions. Pastors sent to plant churches in remote areas have to get the church running. The money is also used in church administration.
