If not for Yorubas, Hausa-Fulani won't be taking southern Nigeria for a fool, Yorubas are the ones giving them the impetus to do anyhow and go free, its sad.

The few outspoken Yoruba elites like Fayose, FFK, Wole Soyinka, etc that tries to open the eyes of the Yorubas, Yoruba youths will just hate them for trying to awaken them from their slumber, its really a shame angry

Like them or hate them, Fayose and FFK are very strong men, but sadly, Yoruba youths prefer to respect and worship crooked thieves like Tinubu who sell them for their personal gains, its well cry
I'm Igbo but please, let's forget all these Yoruba talk. How many Igbos are presently outspoken in Nigeria?

One would wonder if this inferiority complex victim wasn't the one that first quoted me.
You are very deficient in reasoning, extremely deficient.

Let us get back to the starting point of this argument.
First, the op is a Civic Education teacher, and his post was about an English language teacher. You don't need your grammar to be impeccable to either teach or make a distinction in Civic Education. Even in the medical school, nobody gets failed because of his grammar as long as the point has been made correctly. That isn't so when it comes to teaching or writing an exam in English Language. All that matters is the grammar and nothing more. Even if the op writes as poorly as that English teacher, he should still have been concerned because that teacher is supposed to be teaching the kids grammar not any other thing. She studied English language in the higher institution for crying out loud.
Many of us accuse the Nigerian military for being weak and incompetent even when we can't shoot a gun. It's not that we have any basic military experience, but we believe the military guys should be competent in their jobs because that is what they were trained for. It is the same situation between the op and the teacher.

Secondly, the op's mistake isn't a big deal. All mistakes are not the same. Taking medical practice as an example, a doctor whose mistake costs a patient an extra day on admission might simply get scolded by his senior colleagues. If that mistake costs the patient a limb for instance, he may get suspended for a while but if the mistake leads to the death of the patient, that doctor may lose his practising licence. If the English teacher of my children uses 'round up' in place of 'round off', I will feel a bit disappointed, but may not consider withdrawing my kids from that school. If however I get to learn that a teacher like the one op talked about is the one teaching my house maid in school, I will definitely withdraw her from that school or report the teacher to the school authorities. I repeat, all mistakes don't carry the same weight.

It's disappointing that I will have to get down this low to explain a simple fact to you. I'm ashamed.
Good bye.

Maximum therapeutic dose for adults is about 400mg daily (in divided doses, not taken at once). Above that dose is toxic but different people are going to tolerate the toxicity differently.

You clearly said round off can be replaced with round up . What other thing does that mean if not that round up is synonymous with round off? And if they didn't teach you well during your IELTS tutorials, let me enlighten you that synonymous means "have the same meaning." Your IELTS score is trash since you can't even defend it.
I repeat stop disgracing yourself, boy.
Can you quote where I made that statement in bold or you shut your mouth forever! It will be a big shame if you can't point out where I made that statement. Go through all my write ups again. I'm waiting for you.

While you're looking for it, take note of what I wrote here:
Most of us used to call it 'round up' when we were young until we learnt the right thing . Many graduates still use that term today, cos they haven't learnt . But as far as the Nigerian parlance is concerned, using the term 'round up' instead of 'round off' is never a big deal . Even the sounds of the 2 are nearly alike.

You sat for IELTS, yet you are saying round off is the same as round up? Difference between round up and round off is one of the first things an o'level student should learn before sitting for WAEC. How come your IELTS prep and exam never taught you that simple thing? Did someone sit for the exam for you or you bought the result? Like I said earlier, stop disgracing yourself, boy.
Guy, stop being dumb! Read thru all my write up and point out where I said round off is the same as round up. Just quote only one statement I made that suggested the 2 are the same. I don't know why critical reasoning is very difficult for Nigerian youth these days.
I said it's a common mistake among many Nigerian graduates and it isn't a big deal. Many of us confused the 2 when we were growing up. Did I mean that are the same?
To round up someone or a group of people means to apprehend the person or the people. Rarely do you find people using round up in that sense in Nigeria. As a matter of fact, if you hear the term 'round up' used by a Nigerian who isn't a law enforcement officer, it's very likely the person meant round off.
And yes, my almost 2 year old IELTS has an overall band 8.5. That's 0.5 short of an overall band 9.

Can I post a shot of my IELTS result to you so that you will understand I am not a novice when it comes to English speaking and writing? This Guy Is Mischievous. If Someone Is My Colleague, Can't I Call And Correct Them? This Will Benefit The 'English Teacher' And The Students. It Is Better Than Taking PAS To Tell The Whole World What A Colleague Has Done Wrong. It Is My Opinion On The Moral Consideration!
Correct the colleague? Are you for real? Imagine someone approaching and correcting your grammar as an English teacher. That alone is enough to cause animosity between the lady and him for the rest of his days in ghat school. People don't like being corrected, more so when it borders on their inadequacy and lack of proficiency. Also knowing the teacher involved is a lady makes it more risky to try correcting her.
Talking about exposing his colleague, he didn't reveal any personal details here – neither his nor the lady's. Nobody will ever get to know who the teacher is, so what's the big deal?

Abeg, shift! So because he wrote 'round up', you're equating him to that illiterate English teacher. I can bet you that more than 30-50% of Nigerian graduates still confuse 'round off' and 'round up' which to me is very pardonable, but for an English teacher to make such grievous grammatical errors while teaching her students, it's both shameful and disgraceful.
Moreover, the OP didn't tell you he's an English teacher. Grammatical errors from him are more tolerable than from an English teacher.
FamilyRe: Where Is Your Wife? by Kennydoc(m): 12:05am On Mar 08, 2018
XML33:
Responsibility is responsibility. There should be no excuses for abdicating responsibility. So the man should be the one going straight to the kitchen to cook? Is the woman cooking for just the husband? Isn't she also cooking for herself and her children? So the man should be looking at the ceiling when TV is there? Cooking for the family is a woman's responsibility and it has been for thousands of years and the foundation of the family has remained firm. Switching/equalizing roles has proven to be devastating to the structure of the family and society by extension because women are now acting like men and men are now acting like women. This has very negative consequences on society.
Bro, try and be reasonable. You can never live in Europe with this mindset honestly. Social services will threaten you the moment they realise you don't assist your wife, especially with taking care of the kids.

Imagine in a family where both the man and woman are teachers. They both come back from school in the afternoon and while the man enters the parlour to watch TV, the woman enters the kitchen to cook for both of them alongside the kids. She's still the one that will help kids with assignments, wash the clothes, tidy the house, cook the dinner and after all these, the lazy man will expect her to be interested in sex at night. Come on!

While I'm not advocating that men should take over those roles, a reasonable man should know how to assist the wife. Nothing says a man cannot wash plates in the kitchen for the wife, pound yam for her while she cooks soup, help kids with homework, iron clothes etc. That's how to show you genuinely love your wife by sharing the burdens of keeping the home with her.
EducationRe: Teachers, Before You Flog That Child....Listen by Kennydoc(m): 10:44pm On Mar 06, 2018
snowden9:
I'm a Batch A Stream 1 Corps member (Yea. Counting down weeks to my POP). I currently teach in a private school in rivers state. Nuff about all the intro. To the point now, shall we?
I experienced something today and I just thought i should share to all teachers(both corps members and full time teachers), intending teachers and intending corps members.

I had an SS1 economics class by 12pm and when I got to the class, few seconds in, the students didn't greet. I was expecting someone to save them and echo the routine class greeting so I wouldn't have to punish them (our proprietress have been sounding warning to us as of late to punish the students if we encounter any act of indiscipline from them. Not greeting a teacher qualified as an act of indiscipline). Someone finally called out for the class to greet. They all stood up to greet. Except one girl. I was a bit furious and i asked her why she didn't stand up and greet, she still bent her head on the desk without a reply and as expected, the 'Teacher dictator' in me(every teacher has it) wanted to call her out and give her some strokes of cane. I asked a student if the 'disobedient' girl was sick and the reply was 'No'. Now, i really got more pissed off and wanted to punish her but all of a sudden, i just ignored it, brushed it aside and went on with my teaching.

A few hours later, I was walking past the SS1 class and I saw a girl crying (a different girl),when I asked what happened, they told me one of their classmates mum that was pregnant lost her baby that's why she was crying. I came to know later that the other 'disobedient' girl of my economics class was crying at that time when I entered the class for the same reason that was why she didn't stand up to greet. On my own part, i had to praise myself for making the right decision not to punish her cos i know i wouldn't have been happy with myself if I had punished her and later found out that this was the reason why she didn't stand up to greet.

So my dear teachers, before you flog that student for coming late without listening to her reasons, do you know if she witnessed an altercation between her parents and she was the child trying to settle them? Before you flog him for failing, do you know if his guardian punished him by not feeding him all through yesterday just because he mistakenly broke a plate while washing? Meanwhile he had an exam to write the following day. Before you flog that child, do you know what's going on in the life of that child? Before you raise that cane above your head, ask yourself, 'Have i listened to this child?'

Listen.... It'll only take a minute.
Since her head was bent down, I'm sure if you had called her out to punish her, you would have seen her teary eyes which would have made you probe further. Ultimately, you wouldn't have punished her except you were a beast.
You made a good point sha. It's all about being understanding and considerate.
