magnetik: May be you went there at the quiet time.. see I have been to many malls even in Europe. .there are times in every day when its peak and sometimes quiet, that is, low patronage at a particular time in a day or days in a week. With d population of Ibadan I don't think shoprite will get it wrong. Even the one in Ilorin as small as the city is compared to Ibadan never heard of any complain about it since operation.
my friend , its not abt size of population, its d financial or purchasing power of d ppl.
One person at onitsha will spend wat 32 of u wl buy during shopping.

superstar1: So aba is in Oyo state and Onitsha is in Kano abi?

Those mud houses are out heritage, our history and our story that is we hand over to generations down the line. You can't have such in your alaigbo because u guys are do rest dwellers without any noticeable town before civilization. You see mud, we see history and heritage.

If you don't like it, go and stand in the middle of Lagos -ibadan expressway, omo race ti o ni history, always waking up their parents with sliding tackle and once they have small money in their bank account, they are the Lord over their parents and village chiefs.
so, poor houses whose maintenance is years over due are ur cultural heritage?
Thank God am not yoruba biko.
How many of your politicians live in those poverty stricken houses?
None .
.
Poverty, illiteracy , laziness, lack of progress go dey wire una.

eluquenson: Everywhere is tribalism but why can't we accept our fate. To me in this country, the westerners are the most educated, elites & they have good knowledge of business(not wayo oh) & yet people still criticize them for their achievement.
I can't fathom why haters can't just hug transformer huh
tell me one good thing yorubas have done for this country.
Mention one sector they have impacted on , positively.
Where is d evidence of d education?
You are still a mere corper, never had a real job, talk less of starting a shoe shiner business or a mama put business worth N 1,000 only but you question the business decision of an international retail outfit with store chains across multiple states and countries? Did you actually go to any university or polytechnic or it is just the default emotional response but no intellectual, thinking capacity of you people that is the problem?? Chances are that Shoprite have and will make better decisions in this lifetime than everyone in your lineage will ever make! Think about it!
do u think everybody is yoruba?
So, a corper must have been depending on his parents all the while?
What made u think d guy is still starting life?
Do u know how many igbo students that have investments created by themselves?

basilo101: we prefer mansions, Thanks . Wat i see in SW is nothing but neocoloniasm and imperialism at its worst. U ppl shud stop ur childish rivalry wit d east, we do tins at our own pace. Our ppl must be actively involved in industrializing our region no matter hw long it takes

achi4u: It is not a hear say.I have witness it here in Abakaliki rice mill where one oyibo man was busy buying this our local rice in large quantity and instantly pouring a red oil on to of the heap...before y know it, it wil turn to foreign rice with higher price.

This is one area i'm personally commending Chief Martin Elechi of Ebonyi state for his initiative towards agriculture ...he's getting it right.
i watched d documentary on Abakiliki rice processing plants and i was thrilled
PoliticsRe: Enugu Is One Of The Poorest States In Nigeria. by ketoprofen(m): 11:44am On Sep 28, 2013
mandarin: I don't trust data in Nigeria but at least we can make some assumptions. I believe Lagos GDP exceed $100billion and the GDP for most states are higher due to the same reason of huge informal sector. Oil producing states have more government spending than non oil states which raised their GDP but in whole HDI and GINI are better if computed on true stats.
Ibadan is a large city and it has many faces; the good, bad and ugly. There are many cities inside ibadan metropolitan area and some are as good as Lagos and some worse than many interior villages! Enugu is a much smaller city and more manageable and its easy to reckon as developing.
When you compare Oyo State and Enugu, its like comparing nigeria and Togo, oyo state obviously has a huge landmass and population and receives less than states with comparable size in federal funds. However we must admit that the state potentials have not been harnessed and its been in a huge bad political m$ess until lately. However, oyo state has ogbomoso, Oyo, Iseyin, Saki, Ibadan, igboho etc to take care of and that is a huge challenmge. Ogbomoso alone has population of about a million or more!
Enugu and Ibadan are two cities with different issues and inspite of a number of industries in Ibadan more will be needed to make for impressive developments.
Economic outputs of Ibadan is far higher than Enugu and ibadan is ancient, these cities are not in the same league.
all these shanties r nothing to write home abt
- oyo gdp is made by foreigners
- oyo citizens r poorer dan enugu citizens
