I started out as the regular Nigerian hypocrite critique of BBA (Big Brother Africa), never watched any season but had a lot to criticize. Most of what I was criticizing was simply what I had heard from same hypocritical Nigerians, just regurgitating same thoughts. How can you judge when you have not heard from the other side?

Then my neighbours, who are husband and wife, encouraged me to watch the premier edition of BBN (Big Brother Naija), Efe and Bisola's set. I decided to give it a try with an unbiased mind, that was when I started seeing the show from another angle: the entertainment side; the dramas about One Nigeria, Girl Child, different Nigerian cultures; the sponsor ship deals, the twists, economic value etc.

You can't know all this if you keep waiting for tit bits from Nairaland and bloggers. Bloggers are traffic mongers, they will only show you things without context!

Conclusion: My views are are in no way an endorsement but Big Brother show is on paid TV i.e you only pay to watch it, and also among over 300 channels listed on DStv. It costs nothing to activate Parental control or simply ignore the channel, then switch to the remaining.
There's NAT Geo, Discovery Channel if you are feeling smart, there's religious channels if you are religious, there's supersports, cartoon channels, fashion, Africa magic in Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa. Everything is tailored to your need.

Why is this one particular show that you can avoid causing you running stomach?

The one they participate in, you have only one participant most times. It reduces the chances of obtaining a medal considerably. In an event, you will see like 3 US participants. There's no way, one of the three won't grab a medal. Sometimes all three grab the medals for that event. It's hard for Africans to train and qualify for such events. Most Africans fund their training from their pockets, unlike the US.

Ugandans and Kenyans are lucky to be blessed by their geographical location which aids them to win long distance races but asides that they still fall short like other African countries in other events. Infact, all it takes is for the US or some western country to offer their athletes citizenship or some juicy offer, then watch how they struggle to win any medal. Infact, praise should even go more to the African countries who are not blessed geographically or by nature but still manage to win a few medals.

It's because Africans rarely participate in most events. From shooting, boat rowing, alpine skiing to diving, you will not see any African participant. Only when it comes to race, long jump, wrestling or weight lifting would you see Africans participate.

That's the whole point of this, catch those who do not flaunt this publicly. You can argue whether your privacy was invaded or not, in the court if caught with child porn or other criminal contents. Those with no criminal intentions have nothing to worry about.
