The five govt universities and polytechnics in Imo are in Owerri - the present governor wants to uproot the only project not in the state capital, IMSUTH, from Orlu to Owerri.

All federal Housing allocations in Imo state are built in Owerri.

All military and important Police establishments are in Owerri.

Owerri blocks any govt establishment going outside Owerri, because, they say it is the state capital.

Even state traffic officers can't be found outside Owerri even though they cluster at every roundabout in Owerri

The present state governor bought about 100 buses and forced all of them to ply only Owerri streets.

Only State Library is in Owerri. The present state governor demolished the state library in Owerri which was established by East Central State government, and built another in Owerri, money for demolition could have built five other lga state libraries.

Security: there could be 3 Securitry checkpoints every 10km of the major roads in Owerri, but once out of Owerri, you rarely see Security checkpoints

Only federal establishments can be found outside the Imo state capital.
Imo state is wrecked by successive leaders (worse are the present leaders) who do not understand the difference between a state and a state capital.

Here is Owelle in Dec 2010 campaign angry over why former Imo state leaders did not establish anything in Orlu, but thankful that the former governor from Orlu established the Imo state University Teaching Hospital in Orlu.

In 2016, here is a link where Owelle set up a Committee headed by Speaker of Imo House of Assembly to relocate Imo state University Teaching Hospital to Owerri. All because of Owelle to have a soft-landing for his private business interest in a private Eastern Palm university in his town.

Owerri being the capital city requires more attention than everyother place in Imo state.

But it is right for others to be jealous of Owerri as more than 90% of allocations to Imo state and its 27 local govt areas from the federal govt is used by Rochas govt to build only on Owerri.

Palm University risks getting grounded for ever if Okorocha takes the teaching hospital from Orlu to Owerri.

It's unimaginable how Okorocha can at the long run slap the political class from Orlu zone, who between 1999 till today, chose the teaching hospital for Orlu but refuses the main campus of IMSU.

That Palm university in Okorocha town, some, including Abagoro, don't know the present row between Orlu zone people and Okorocha over the university.

Okorocha plans to give Imo university teaching hospital in Orlu to Owerri just to make Owerri happy to have Okorocha completely own the Palm University.

In this BAD joke, Okorocha looks like a boxer wanting to first of all, knock down those who would cheer him when he enters the boxing ring.

Nigeria was politically restructured to such that northern Nigeria draws very large political representation from the excess number of states created by northern leaders in the north.
So at any decision point in the federal government, northerners are everywhere through quota system, thus their decisions carry the day, whether the president is Ijaw, or Yoruba or Igbo is irrelevant.
