The air transport of the King and Prime Minister of Norway is mostly handled by commercial airliners
(such as Scandinavian Airlines) with the VIPs travelling as normal passengers.

Malaysia's Prime Minister and the Royal Family travel in a Boeing Business Jet operated by the Royal Malaysian Air Force with the serial number M53-01

The Chief Executive of Hong Kong travels on commercial aircraft operated by Cathay Pacific Airways and Dragonair, the de facto flag carriers of the territory.
He travels within the territory on helicopters operated by the Government Flying Service.

The Royal Danish Air Force operates three Challenger CL-604 for VIP transport, primarily that of the government and The Danish Royal Family. These airplanes are also used for environmental control and fishery control around Greenland and the North Sea.

And trust African Leaders:
most controversial air transports for a head of state was that of Zaire leader Mobutu Sese Seko, who leased a supersonic Concorde in the late 1980s and early 1990s
Na wah O! see this one comparing Nigeria and our Highly esteemed Leaders to Norway, Hong Kong, Netherland and Malaysia?!

How many dollars can their leaders steal in a month? tell me!

How many Owambe parties can their wives and Concubines organize in a week?

Can they award dollar-pumping Oil blocks for Ten family members within one year?

Tell me, can the president of those countries you mentioned hire 500 aides to do the job of one man?

Can they Drive to work in an entourage of 25 armored vehicles when, millions of their citizens are sandwished inside stinking, hot, windowless buses?

Can they rig an election and then bribe judges to jail anyone who challenges them?

Can they fly over pot hole ridden roads that have not been maintained even once in 20 years while sipping Moet and laughing at their mugu masses?

Don't even try to compare our Strong Nigerian leaders to those minions you mentioned.

If they can reduce the standard of living in their countries by 500% in one generation and make the term "3rd world" too developed to describe their nation, then we can compare them to our strong leaders.

Duke might never win any other election in his life, except in Tinapa zone.

Ribadu is not a politician per se, if he has the backing of a godfather like Tinubu did Fashola then he can rightly be factored into this, last I checked OBJ and AC werent allies, no ?

BTW, why all this hoopla about Ribadu ? Chidichris rightly pointed out areas that will grey out his inordinate ambition !

We need to stop believing our own lies, PDP would win even if it is former Speaker Buhari of the 'University of Toronto' Cert Scandal that they choose as their candidate. . .its that bad !
I hate to agree with you again on an other thread  sad  but i have to.

The truth is in the bolded.

Nigerians just love to hope against hope. I really feel bad for my people sometimes

I will go one over your statement and say only a popular uprising or Revolution can make PDP lose in 2011, the exception will be if the oppsition can miraculously gain access to some secret cash vault that can put the owners of Nigeria(Big Oil) and PDP to shame.

Those who own Nigeria will not give up that easily.

@Kilode?
Point of correction the tax collectors in the 1st Century AD in the Roman Province of Palestine, were indeed thieves, The Jewish hierarchy could not stand them because they were instruments of the colonial power, the Romans, they collected far in excess of what they were suppose to collect and were deeply corrupt.

However unlike the 'Bigmen' at this event when they sat down with Jesus alongside love-peddlers, drunkards and other ne'er do wells, they were aware of their short comings and sought repentance from Jesus. It is documented in the gospels how at least one tax collector offered to return his ill gotten loot. However the modern-day tax collector does not admit his/her short comings and are probably better compared to the Pharisees/ Sadducee who despised the tax collectors and thought they (Pharisees) were the pious heaven bound people.

Nigeria is very much like the old Jewish tradition; the Jews of old felt that if you were wealthy and healthy you were blessed, favoured by God and most definitely heaven-bound, that's why they could not understand Jesus when he said 'it would be easier for the head of a camel to go through the eye of needle than for a rich man to enter heaven'.

The old Jewish tradition called the infirm, disabled, wretched poor - unclean - They needed salvation by following stringent Jewish laws to go to heaven. (I am generalising) - Why did Ighodalo not do his launching in Akonwojo?

This is the mind set of the modern Nigerian, to be holy and blessed, you must financially and socially successful; these are the the people of Men of God fraternise with - the bigmen. So Kilode I hear your point; but our bigmen are not sinful but sorrowful tax collectors but rather hypocritical Pharisees.

Temples of Solomon huh? why are the tithes not used to alleviate the suffering in this country? Oxfam, Christian Aid, etc are Christian charities that collect small small money from church-goers in the Western world to spend on projects in obscure African villages. When last did our Jet Flying Men of God do similar? (and I am not talking of donating a few tins of Nido milk to motherless babies home with all the camera men there)
@ faithin9ja,
So we don't overstretch the argument, lets agree that those tax collectors were Thieves.

But, they were mere employees and they were not even Romans, they were Jews, who in the big picture were doing the biddings of their oppressive Roman masters.

You can't possibly compare their role and influence to that of our current leaders, who are Nigerians and have it within their power to influence changes and give us -and our children, a country we can all be proud of.

So my gripe with this so-called Men of God is their silence over social issues and governance and it is a slap on the faces on their congregants when they allow these same betrayers to sit in exalted places in the church.
This is not just like Jesus preaching salvation to contrite tax collectors. It is like Jesus hosting a banquet for Herod or Nero, patting them on the back while rolling out the red carpet for them at the "Sermon on the Mount"

You don't have to agree with me.  but I have no iota of respect for any Man of God who do not stand with the people of Nigeria against these Government leeches, and it must be obvious you stand with the poor suffering masses, no hidden chastising inside Aso Rock, do like Jesus, condemn them in public, then I will respect your ministry.

Even Martin Luther, the Father of the reformation that so-called Pentecostals now enjoy did the same, (Although he later went berserk with his anti-Jew rhetoric, a clear reason no to consider anyone above criticism).

So I agree with you for the most part but, we need to come down more strongly on the two-faced Christianity practised by these Nigerian religious leaders. I believe Jesus would, if anything I've read about him is real.

God Bless you. If we had more people with your kind of mentality, Nigeria will be in a better place. Some people are even too scared to call Obasanjo the thief and slowpoke he is for stealing billions of dollars that was supposedly earmarked for fixing our electricity problems. Babangida, same thing--he is now running for a second term because he knows people will "respect" him and not lambast him for looting our national treasury.

President or no president, every citizen has a right to criticize and call our presidents out for engaging in culpable acts.

As long as we have these PDP THIEVES, JONATHAN, OBJ, IBB running d country's affairs, we should just accept our footie d way we see it as Govt running of football would always ground us instead of ensuring progress
Thank you Dr Kitaun, Princek12 and Buzugee!

By the way, Jonathan  **s kissers can make that two behinds!

A lot of Nigerians are quick to pull out moral bullcrap out of their **ses when it suits their foolish thinking.

These same fools sat in churches today and applauded thieves and rogues because their pastor told them to clap(because they one governor donated money)and respect those in authority, and the same fools will later complain when they ride on death-trap roads to their homes where electricity have been out for weeks, because Mr Governor stole construction money.

This is not the appropriate thread to fully trash this out. I'm just glad those amazing ladies displayed passion on the field and won the match.

Speaking at the inauguration, Pastor Fagboyegun who represented the Ekiti State governor, Olusegun Mimiko, urged Mr Ighodalo to continue in his calling. He said, “We believe in the anointing of God upon your ministry. We believe God that great shall be your destiny. Through God, you will do great things. The government of my state believes in you.”

Other dignitaries at the event included former governor of Ekiti State, Niyi Adebayo, former first lady of Cross River state, Onari Duke, former high commissioner to the United Kingdom, Christopher Kolade, amongst others.

this statement alone highlights why africa will not reach its potential unless there is serious cultural change.

we are horrified of ANY progress that was not achieved by the west first.

what kind of a question is that for an independent country to ask its self? We cannot wait for the west anymore, they're not perfect but still better then we are because they dont ask 'why would we do _________ if africa hasn't done it yet?'. They say 'We have this problem, but if we do this we wont have the problem' regardless of who did it before them and from there progress happens, this is progressive thinking and this is why they are successful.

i was ashamed to read that part, everything else is highly insightful, i never thought PDP picks candidates, that's too simplistic and silly for a country as complexed as nigeria. the corruption in nigeria is very sophisticated and we're having a hard time tackling it because we underestimate it's workings and genius. I dont think EFCC arresting ppl here and there is going to do anything, i think technology and training has to be implemented at rates that surpass the any example set in the work because the nigerian criminal is craftier then any other criminal in the world.
GBAM!!
Cultural change? now that is some change I can believe in!

Governor Saraki and the Nigerian Governors Forum blamed GSM companies for kidnappings because they did not bring in Technology for tracing calls!!?  shocked shocked

check https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-482122.0.html -courtesy ~Bluetooth.

He also insinuated that no matter how hard we scream, IG Onovo can't do anything? ( he has a wee bit of a point there).

Although, countries with sensible leaders and security agencies were tracing calls on landlines before anyone dreamed up cell phone technology, Ours were chopping NITEL money then. Now they want to blame GSM companies for their own incompetence and greed?

Anyway, Nigerian GSM companies have their work cut out for them. Since Saraki said screaming wont work sad I'm prosposing these initial tasks for Nigerian GSM companies smiley

1. GSM companies need to create a system that can disable the hand of a policeman anytime they stretch it out to demand/receive a bribe. (Egunje interceptor)

2. We need a GSM product that can magically fix all of Nigeria's criminal Laws, then dump them in our Policemen's brain so they don't abuse people's right. (Human rights Sim-card for dummies)

3. GSM companies need to create an app to fix all those pot-bellies our police Ogas carry around.

4. GSM companies need to immediately download more brain matter through cell phones so Saraki and other Governors and leaders can constantly think straight. (God knows we Nigerians need them to)

5. We need GSM companies to fix our centralized Police system so that a DPO in Ogwa-chiukwu or Ogbomosho will not have to take orders from Abuja before arresting a criminal. Surely, they can create an App for that.

Politics › Re: The Culture Of Praising Stolen Money by Kilode1: 1:54am On Jul 19, 2010
^^ yes you are right.

The issue is not just corruption but a culture that amplifies it(as if Corruption needs further amplification) I hate to bash Nigerian culture because conversations like that tend to gravitate towards unnecessary self-hate if not well moderated. But I agree with those who seek for a broad cultural revolution as a solution to Nigeria's problems rather than a purely political or economic revolution.

I don't think 10Billion megawatts of electricity will empower us enough to fight corruption neither will a fully privatised economic system. Not even electoral reform. But the solution, to my mind may lie in a deeper assessment of the cultural ideologies that rule our lives in Nigeria. We can't develop beyond where our culture can carry us. I don't think so.

The French had to rise up and seek for a culture that placed reason over religion or spiritual hierarchy for example, and the English who eventually became new-world Americans had to break from a culture that limited the socio-economic advancement of the commoner while sustaining the status, class and wealth of the elite, privilege royal class.

Or we can look at the Chinese Cultural revolution, although imperfect and brutal at some point( and later corrected by those who sought progress over blind power and control) and imperfect still, it was the beginning of a break from a backward, purely agrarian society to an industrial one ready to compete in the modern world, and the fine tuning still continues, but it started with a radical revolutionary change. Mind you, all revolution do not have to lead to massive Bloodshed. Some unfortunately do.

I know we don't all share the same cultural beliefs in Nigeria but, at least the commonalities are more than the differences I think. As a people,  we need to remove some cultural blinders and finetune some of our beliefs.

For example, we need to look at the the issue of status in society, the rights of the individual, the effect of our religious beliefs. We need to determine what our cultures believe about personal responsibility and justice, community and individual responsibility. What our cultures say about values such as honour, bravery and self-determination-or if we consider them values at all, maybe something is wrong with how we are translating those cultural beliefs into the time and age we are currently in.

I believe that until we address these issues we can't even scratch the surface of our problems.

or what do you think?

It's not that simple. It's not about simply not funding them and its over. We need better results from our leaders, from Aso Rock to Glass House.
NFF will definitely get their funding from willing donors, especially those seeking writeoffs or kickbacks. They will also receive money from CAF, the West African Soccer Groups, FIFA, and even European teams like Chelsea who may donate for "African Youth Development".

The leagues are "sorry" in management and infrastructure, but certainly not lacking in raw talent. The national teams have promising and performing talents as well, along with some decent local coaches who can coach. The problem is NFF and FIFA rules and regulations that sustain invincibility of FAs.

There's no real other alternative to ridding what would have amounted to the perpetual rule of LULU and co., which would have put Nigerians (players, officials, etc) in danger. Imagine Nigerian players being stranded at airports, hotels, and stadiums because of the ignorant members of NFF who care only about their pockets and position.
I'm sorry. It is that simple.

NO sensible club owner will stand aloof and allow some yeye FA boss to squander, embezzle or fritter donated funds and fees away. (clubs run FA's in serious countries) also, no corporate sponsor and or Foreign benefactor club will perpetually donate to a non-performing footbal association. I say cut off the Government funding!! and let the sharks deal with the whales.

Also FIFA does not see clear criminal prosecution of fraudulent practices and theft as government intervention. they understand that countries have a duty to enforce contract codes, and financial crime laws.

by the way, those FIFA rules you mentioned where made for FA's, and societies that respect and champion common-sense, not clueless fools like Lulu and Jonathan.

Jonathan had several sensible options but he chose to pick the retarded one. Typical Nigerian leader with a military-firebrigade mentality.
