Hello mothers,
Pls am worried because of my 3 months old daughter. She happen to lik sleeping on her left n wen I turn her neck back to d right after a few minutes she turns it back to the left.most time wen am busy n wnt her to sleep well I just leave her on that position.
Yesterday two women complain to me in church dat her neck is tilt to one side(bend) n I told them she is just 3 month n hv nt gain neck control yet dat she does that just to be more comfortable but they all made me feel bad as though something is wrong wit her.
Nb
Pls do I need to be worried or its lik dat wit children?
Cc
Modath, kaffy4bill,onegai, kimoni, tchiwinnie and other sabi mothers
My babies sleep on their back till they can roll over, but since your baby is used to side sleeping, you need to constantly turn her on both sides till she gets comfortable with both. Pls don't let her get used to just one side. As per her head tilting to one side, she is just 3 months like you noted with no head control so I wouldn't worry too much about it except it's something very obvious.

Again, do you back her very often? If you do, are you sure her neck is properly positioned? Pls don't worry about this if you don't.

Actually, Nestle didn't remove the warning. Please get a Golden mourn pack and read through it very well, It is now written there that Golden mourn is an acceptable everyday cereal for 9-13 years old only.. I was shocked when I saw it. I will try to snap it today when I get home as proof but you can check if you have a golden mourn pack. So if anything happens to your baby, they are all cleared.
cc: favoredgal
Really?? Could you pls take a pic of where this is written on your pack? Looks like there are several different packs of golden morn out there in the market.

Mine still carried the usual "golden morn is not an infant cereal" on the right hand side of the pack and "suggested serving for 9-13 years" written on the left side. I couldn't find that bolded statement of yours anywhere on my pack. Thnks

They've removed it from the pack - at least the recent ones.

I think corn is harder to digest than rice, oat, etc. hence he 'it's not an infant' warning. Guess it's up to mums to decide/ define who an infant is

I started my daughter at 18 months and she has had no adverse reaction. She loves it
**sighs**

Mothers, what can I say? You are exactly where the company wants you to be by justifying with your own reasons why it should be okay to feed your baby with golden morn.

The word infant has several definitions depending on who is defining. Nestle initially gave their definition of infants to be 3 years which was very clear, but for some reasons best known to them, they removed that very important definition and left mothers second guessing who an infant is. Isn't that act fishy?

And as they rightly projected, mothers started feeding their infant babies with golden morn and justifying it with the fact that "infant" is not properly defined. So in essence, the company is gaining back its lost market share and at the same time avoiding litigation if anyone decides to sue them for any consequences that might arise from feeding babies with golden morn since they still have it written on the pack that it's not for infants. Perfect marketing strategy, but is it the best for babies and mothers?

And they have also refused to say exactly why it is wrong, thereby making mothers second guess why it is or not suitable for infants. I wish it were just an issue of "difficult to digest" but you will be surprised it is much more.

In all of this, I'll advise mothers to be very discerning when it comes to matters like this and choose to err on the side of caution. If there is so much confusion as to whether something is good for my baby or not, especially if it is something that is consumed; personally, I'll rather wait till I am double sure the food or medicine as the case may be is good for my baby. Babies are too precious to serve as guinea pigs in corporate experiments. I wouldn't take any known risk on my baby no matter how much my baby loves the food or medicine.

And talking of reaction, let's remember that some reactions do not manifests till months or even years later. God help us all in taking the right decisions for our babies.

FACT 1 - the Nutrition Society of Nigeria has endorsed indomie Noodles....guess they are comfortable with that...for such an organization to do so means a lot

Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN) Certificate of Endorsement:

In 2006, a Certificate of Endorsement for Indomie Dishes was issued to the Company by the Nutrition Society of Nigeria at the 37th Annual Conference and Scientific Meeting held at the Cultural Centre Kuto Abeokuta, Ogun State. This marked the first time the NSN has endorsed any Noodles brand in Nigeria.
Dr, I agree it's better to carry out an independent research and not just rely on the judgement of our regulatory organisations. It's like saying everything that has a NAFDAC nos in Nigeria truly passed all the required tests. #yimu

There is a lot of politics and power play involved between these govt organisations and these Kora companies.

Golden morn can be given from 1yr and above I read severally that it's from 3yrs but that's not true because it's not stated on d pack. I had to read d write up on d pack b4 buying and it states "Golden Morn is not an infant cereal" d question u may ask is who is an infant?

Different explanations av come up as to who an infant is. Some say 1month to 12months. Others say 1month to 24months. Some say when a child starts walking. So it actually depends. I started givin my son golden morn at 14months and watched how he took it and if he reacted. He took it well without any reactions so I continued.
This golden morn issue trended on NL some years back and Nestle themselves had to come and clarify. Pls note, It is not good for ages 3 years and below.

The packet used to carry this warning sign some years back but Nestle Naija has since modified their pack, hence the confusion amongst Nigerians.

Very true...you are allowed to do anything, we all have that Godgiven freewill right? And how you use it is totally your prerogative. But then every action comes with consequences - good and bad, and often times, we do not determine those consequences, which is why everything might not be profitable on the long run.

Actually, unless she has had a a total change of mindset & heart, it almost certainly will.

Per the ongoing theme about older women schooling younger ones you are discussing with Timbuktou; outside of close-knit blood/familial relationships, it simply won't work.

Women are generally too competitive. Competing for - the best – men, and status. And most have an almost embedded sense of where they are placed and the implacable desire to one-upwomanship” others. It’s women who shame the most, and generally disparage others for their looks bodies etc.

It even works in reverse; not only will they try to out-compete, the will work assiduously to pull others down to their level or status. A woman divorces, she will campaign for divorce, she’s a single mum, will describe single-mums as hot cakes. If she sleeps around, she will sell it as freedom/liberating. If she’s ina bad marriage , she will proffer advice likely to harm or crash others.

And they rarely admit mistakes, either rationalising them as good/learning experiences, outright lying to themselves and everyone else, or placing blame elsewhere if it’s undeniable.

T'was ever thus.
