Hmmmm, even while poor or being in want does not mean one should eat everything. We should be mindful of what we eat in this country to avoid becoming the next China in terms of producing deadly virus that could be called "Nigerian virus" capable of becoming a pandemic like the one we find ourselves today.

CareerRe: A Police Officer Wants To Quit Over Poor Pay by kingvick09(m): 2:07pm On Jul 14, 2020
Ralpdee123:
Good morning Nlanders,

I have been considering quitting my police job to find something more productive & profitable to do with my life as a result of poor pay & lack of promotion.....

I was enlisted into the NPF since year 2009 at 21yrs, I was single then with big aspiration that someday I will move to the top echelon. While in the job, I struggled to send myself to school and bagged my first degree and through to masters level.

But one thing I have noticed is that there is no upward movement within the NPF unlike the other armed forces and some paramilitary agencies that have internal promotional policies of upgrading their personnel based on academic qualification and merit.

The first and only time this ever happened was five years ago when it was widely reported across all news platforms that the NPF was ready to promote graduates within the force to ASPs, exam was conducted, I passed and was selected to go to Abuja for final interview. It was a rough road for me as it was my first time at the FHQ, Abuja. But after like a week, the process was suspended indefinitely. That was the first time I heard the term MERIT LIST VS NATIONAL INTEREST LIST...the Senators and Reps etcs wanted to replace the list with their candidates and they disagree amongst themselves so the process was cancelled.

I must confess my family is getting larger now and the pay I get can't feed us not to talk of paying school fees. I had to double my hustle with side biz to meet up....

Even the Police academy now turn out graduates ASPs every year who are now superiors after just a few years. So what about us with requisite qualification and experience, don't we deserve to be promoted...?

It is on this note that I want to call it quit and move on...

So I need advice in this regard... Should I call it quit or still hold on a bit...cos I don tire......?

NB: For those of you that will be saying yenyenyen shocked police likes twenty Naira.... I have never received bribe from anyone throughout my 11 years in the job. I am the kind of Police Officer that you would meet on duty and would love to be a police officer.... grin

Please professionals in the house.... Flood my thread with your wealth of experience abeg....

.... Help me do the needed for a wider view.... wink

NYSCRe: Please Be Patient- A True Life Story. by kingvick09(m): 5:32am On Jul 14, 2020
chrisxxx:
Be Patient
I will share a personal experience. This happened and not just a story. It happened to me.
In 2008 I was a corps member in Ilorin Kwara State.
I was serving in an electromechanical workshop.
The workshop was a place of people with different educational background. Some Educated, semi-educated and stark illiterates.
I was well respected in the workshop as a corper. I also respected them as much.
There came a day one of them invited us to her wedding. Initially I never planned to go. However, it happened that one of my corper friends visited me for the weekend and we needed to make a plan of how to cancel meal. I told my friend about the wedding invitation and he said it was the best place to eat for the day.
We set out for the venue.
When we got there we found a vantage position to sit. It was actually a place where by no means would we miss food service.
But surprisingly the waitresses were deliberately missing us. We called for services, no attention.
It was obvious we were not been served because we were uninvited. We never looked like them. They all had the owambe uniform. We were smartly dressed.
A lot of thoughts were running riots in my mind. I would have used the transport to add to get food.
But I just realized something. That I seemed not to know anybody in the event as well as nobody seemed to recognize me. This could be a wrong venue I said to myself.
I excused myself to call one of the workshop boys I knew must not miss the event.
My fear was confirmed. I was at the wrong place. Though it was a much relieve as it rekindled my hope of having a free lunch.
I dashed into the hall to notify my corper friend of this development. He also seemed relieved.
Our situation was burning from both ends. Our desperation was becoming obvious.
We were in danger of losing our transport and not eating.
A bike rider quickly took us to the real venue.
When we got there I smiled as I started seeing known faces.
We were well dressed and this quickly earned us high table position.
Though we were seated just behind the high table. It was a vantage position.
Do I say we're lucky?
This is because no sooner had we arrived than they started sharing food from behind. Just a line behind us. Ah! Could this be history about repeating itself same day?
The foods were packed in plastic plates. We won't want to take any chance. They had started again to share. Surprisingly they started sharing the foods just behind our seat row. We were surprised once again. My corper friend was from Akwa Ibom. We saw ourselves as Niger Deltan. We don't come last.
We quickly took the food individually by force despite protest by the waitresses. We remember the Biblical injunction that permitted that taking by force act.
They were saying 'E nisiru' E Nisiru'. We never cared to know the meaning because our transport was on the line.
Some how the waitresses were looking at us like these gentlemen might not actually be what we thought. They looked as us pitifully.
We cared less about their thoughts. I remember a line then by Gongaso-'My personality no matter at all'.
Even those seated on the same row with us were a kind of looking at us with suspicion. We're eating like hungry lions.
'Men we no send'.
We were hungry and desperate.
But suddenly things started to unfold. First moi-moi appeared from no where. Salad cream came out. Shining fragile plates started to surface. Red coloured stew everywhere. Chicken wings and laps followed. Beefs Yoruba-sized cut were magnificently displayed. All these were kept on the high table ready for dishing.
We realized our mistakes. We were seated at the high table but took the foods of other guests.
My corper friend said we should take again. I resisted. He was the one who coerced me to take the one we took first.
It was later I learnt that 'E nisiru'' means Please wait be patient.

There's this sweet beautiful girl I'm attracted to. and I also think she likes me because we get along easily. I'm thinking of expressing my feelings to her but I'm putting so many things into consideration. e.g her dad is a very popular and strong juju priest. people come to him from far and near for solutions either for good or for bad. her dad is highly respected and neighbors also fear him. nobody wants to dare him. another thing I'm also thinking about is my family. will it be a thing of pride to them that I'm associating with the daughter of a popular native doctor whom they think is a wicked man?. what I feel for her is nothing but love but at the same time I'm confused. Just thinking aloud. your advice might just be of help

I type this with tears in my eyes. I decided to share say this here because if I need somebody to hear my voice, as I approach my end.
If I write this on Facebook, family and friends will see it and panic will set in, I don't want that. Devoid of our differences, Nairaland is also family to me.
The choices I made in life are mine, but the forces at work are overwhelming. I was weak to their manipulations.
All I ever wanted was to be an Engineer, to make mama proud and take care of my siblings.
Believe me I have Love in my heart. I wanted to just be a better version of myself but nothing seems to work.
When it seems like I am making a little progress, my desires are there to remind me that I am only but a prisoner.
It appears to me that I was created a failure. I failed my family once again, myself, Society and God almighty.
Now I am not afraid of death, I am only sad as I picture the face of Mama, Papa, Brothers and sisters crying while I lay motionless oblivious of everything( I know I will surely hear their wailing from the other side)
I don't want to be judged, but that isn't really my choice to make.
The next 3 weeks will be very crucial to my existence, if I survive it, then I will know that I will grow old and reach 95( I have always told anyone that cares to listen that I will live to 95).
I know they are not reading this now, and nobody that knows me personally is; I just want to tell mom that I love her. To dad; All I wanted was to make him proud. To my brothers and lovely sisters: I love you guys, take care of mom and dad and succeed where I have failed.
To my Nairaland family, God bless you all. I will miss the Afonja's, Ipobs, Nyamiris, Brown roofs, red mud, Arewa's(do they even have any special insulting name like the rest of us?)Lala and his snakes, the feminists( feminists are wonderful people, thank God they don't breed well). Lol

I sincerely pray I survive this. Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, Save Us and the whole world.
YOU CAN SURVIVE IT !!!

YOU CAN DO IT!

He should be readmitted to a psychiatric hospital. I think he's suffering from a relapse since he has already been on admission before.
Afterwards he should be made to undergo rehabilitation at the Drug Abuse Treatment Education and Research(DATER) unit of the hospital.
If it's possible to change his environment after rehabilitation, do that as well.
Also, who are his close friends? Are they into drugs as well? If that's the case he has to stop being around such persons.
It takes a lot of effort for most people to overcome Mental and Behavioural Disorder (MBD) due to psychoactive substance abuse.
I have a friend who's into substance abuse just like your brother. Currently he's been readmitted again for the 3rd time since he suffered a relapse just last year, a promising young guy like that.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike during a routine supervision stormed a branch of the United Bank Of Africa, UBA and chased out customers that were not putting on face masks and adhering to social distancing directive.

A viral video of the incident captured the moment that the Governor queried the bank’s management who on their part claimed they tried to get the customers to adhere strictly to the social distancing directive but were adamant.

On further interrogation on the provision of soaps and hand sanitizers for hand washing, the bank was however found wanting.

“You want to kill my people and run to your village, Governor Wike asked.

CrimeRe: Coronavirus Lockdown Bank Scam Alert: Warn Your Loved Ones For Their Safety by kingvick09(m): 3:08pm On Mar 31, 2020
OnyeObodo:
Hello Nigerians,

I want to use this opportunity to warn you about the new ongoing corona BVN and ATM scam. Please be aware that even though BVN and ATM scam are not entirely new, what I find disturbing about this format is that thy are using the Corona pandemic to scare people. Another disturbing thing is that they called my wife by her name. They are also leveraging on the stay at home order to scare people the more. This implies this is a high level powered scam.

This fraudster and scammer 08106579538 called my wife and this conversation ensued;

Scammmer: Hello, am I talking to Mrs Nkechi Fashola

Wife: Yes

Scammer: Am calling you on the directive of First Bank. The federal government is about to implement a nationwide lock-down and am calling to setup online banking for you.

Wifey: I am not interested. I already have online banking

Scammer: If you don't upgrade too, you will not benefit from the corona virus loans being disbursed very soon (This is where I cut in)

Me: Young man, you are speaking with inspector Kolade of FSARS apapa LION zone

Scammer: (Drops call)

Why I decided to share this even though its an old format is because of two things;

(1) He called my wife by her correct names (Suggesting insider job)

(2) They now leverage on the corona virus pandemic sit at home order! Due to the hunger in the land and the uncertainty of Nigerian government in helping people through this trying times, people may become desperate and give in their personal information. Awareness needs to be crated before people will jump from frying pan to fire.

Believe me when I tell you that the person that called was so professional, precise and apt. This particular scammer knows his onions. They have taken it to a whole new level.
ARE YOU REALLY A SARS OFFICERhuh

Throughout my secondary school my result was bang average. I do feel remorse for my school result but my parents do cheer me up. I entered university to study Microbiology. First semester I had two carryovers. My Cgpa was 2.4 I was told to work harder by my parent. Second semester I did work harder but I had nothing to show for it I had 2 carryovers my Cgpa was low I was so depressed . my parent cheered me up and told me to Work harder they were always there for me. This semester I told my self I would make them proud. I started reading harder than I ever did in my entire life. Result for this semester just came out I had 7 carryovers. I was so shocked I received the shock of my miserable life I'm planning on committing suicide because I feel like a disappointment to my family right now. I can't even show them my result.

Good morning nairalanders

2 months ago I was over all the social media seeking for driving job or any form of work, luckily for me I got someone that directed me to his friend that was looking for an uber/bolt driver I met him we talked, sadily I couldn't provide guarantor I used my international passport as guarantor
He gave me the car to be remitting 25k to him weekly and I will service the car every month

I started working with the car only on bolt because I couldn't book for uber training online

I've been remitting complete money to him for 6 weeks now until last week when this virus thing came into Abuja, people stopped going out, schools where shut, airport, social gathering etc the whole thing affected my work, I called my boss and explained everything to him that request are no longer coming as before people are not going out again, he refused to listen to me he said he can only remove 5k for me, I accepted and start working
But everyday the request keeps declining

Yesterday I called him again and begged him for 15k weekly till everything is over, because me too I'm at risk of getting the virus because I don't know people I'm carrying) everyday he asked me to come to his house I went there he asked me to drop the car and leave that people are willing to do the job secondly he want to put the car in hire purchase

I was left diverstated, weak, confused
I was wondering why he don't want to understand my point one of our member sent in a voice note that a client he carried last week called him to isolate himself that he tested positive and hospital asked him to contact those he had contact with

My boss refuse to pity me, he wanted me to be working in midst of this virus and be remitting money to him, I agreed anyway and asked him to reduce it to 15k he took the car from me

Please add me in your prayers, I don't know how to cope in this luck down they're about to do, I saved little morning within the 2 months though

But I'm a good driver and I know Abuja roads very well if you've car good for bolt/uber please I'm very much available
Thanks
I know how you feel right now, but don't panic . God who created mouth will surely provide what it will eat.......

everything will be back to normal ,even better than before!!!!

I'd be so grateful if justice could be served on my behalf , cause the nigeria police force is turning to something else.
i have a private bike which I use for my business , so this set of guys without Id or means of identification as police officer stopped me at palm avenue mushin and requested for my bike key which i refused cause i was scared they were thieves. before i knew it one of them already called the rest.when the rest came , they started harassing me. in the twinkle of an eye, i was handcuffed just for resisting arrest of my bike and the other guy brought out mini tear gas and pressed it to my face. I was bundled into one MARUWA and taken to olosan police station where they put me in a room and started beating cause people tried to help me at the spot of the illegal arrest...
I'm pleading ,if there's any lawyer here on nairaland who can help me get justice for the harassment and maltreatment i got today for being hand cuffed and tear gassed.
I'M BEING ASKED TO COME TOMORROW MORNING TO CLAIM MY BIKE AND THE GOODS ON THE BIKE.I HAVE TO BE THERE BY 8AM TOMORROW MORNING.
