nototribalist:Put it this way: Arewas, Ndigbos and Ooduas are thieves and parasites feeding on our Niger-Delta resources! As far as we Niger-Deltans are concerned, they are all parasites! |
seanet01:Special Assistant to Governor on "Travels and Relaxations"! ![]() |
Jlow2:We do not keep senseless grudges like you Igbo people! |
jared007:I'm an Okpe man and we are not trying to divide Urhobo. The URHOBO NATION still remain one and united. Any Okpe person having such divisive agenda is a minority voice. Okpe Agbameni! Urhobo o, Ovuovo!! Urhobomena, Ovuovo!!! |
AworiLagosian:Time changes things! "UDO" was a flourishing town during the "OGISO DYNASTY" era. The "OGISOS" made "UDO" the Capital of ancient "AKA KINGDOM" and was home to a vast number Edoid people including the Urhobo-Isokos, Ishans, Etsakos, Epie-Atissas, Ikas, Engennis, Degemas, etc. At the height of the reigns of the "OGISOS" between 600-900 AD, UDO was a power house in the region sending rulers to different lands to reign. For example, "ERE" who was one of the early OGISOS was the founder of "Ughelli Kingdom" in Urhoboland. And it was also during the Ogisos reigns that kings were crowned to rule in Onitsha, Asaba and Agbor. It was after the collapse of the "OGISO DYNASTY" in "900 AD" that Udo town started declining in population and influence. Consequently, the various peoples who made Udo their home abandoned the town and fled to establish new settlements elsewhere as a result of chaos and civil strives which trailed the fall of the "AKA KINGDOM". The Igbos so-much boast-about "ERI" was one of such people who left to found new communities elsewhere. The first settlement "ERI" established on arrival in Igboland was named "ERI-AKA" in memory/ remembrance of where he migrated from; "AKA" land. I do laugh whenever some Igbos claim that 'ERI" migrated from ISRAEL. That is a big lie as there was no such thing! Igbos take note of this: ERI's origin lies in ancient UDO and AKA land of the OGISO KINGS and not ISRAEL. Following the emergence of a new Dynasty [the "Oba Dynasty"] after years of interregnum, "Oranmiyan" who came from "UHE" ["IFE"] was scared to reign from "Udo". Fearing for his life, he transferred the Capital to a new settlement and renamed the Kingdom "BENIN". Relatively, "Udo" is older than "Benin City". If you could remember, the people of UDO refused to accept the authorities of the early OBAS of the OBA DYNASTY and fought several battles gallantly against the Obas until the were finally subdued during the reign of possibly Oba Ewuare the Great [Ogidigan] in about the fifteen Century. It was the many battles Udo waged against the authorities of the Obas that brought the town down. They probably regarded the emerging Obas as strangers and intruders to the land and resisted their over-lordship. Even till date, UDO though now reduced to a small community, still enjoy some autonomous status within the Benin Kingdom. |
VickJames:Friend! Language alone does not determine or tell the real origin of a people. This is because language is dynamic and people of a place can switch language at any point in history. Let me give you examples in Urhoboland. Orogun is an Urhobo clan with several towns and villages but since time immemorial they were fond of marrying Ukwuani-Igbo women. And because children spend more time with mothers than fathers, they tend to learn quickly whatever language the mothers teach them. As a result of maternal influences, the whole Orogun clan is presently bi-lingual; speaking both Urhobo and Ukwuani-Igbo. Furthermore, do you know that some of these Orogun villages [e.g. Arhagba] have virtually lost their Urhobo language and speak mainly Ukwuani-Igbo? Do you know that their children now find it difficult to speak or understand Urhobo but they can speak and understand Igbo [Ukwuani] fluently? I visited Arhagba-Orogun town in 2011 during INEC Voters Registration Exercise and was taken aback by what I saw. Every where in the community I reached the people were speaking Igbo, playing Igbo musics and rarely heard someone spoke Urhobo. It was so overwhelming that I had to asked my companion that day if we were still actually in Urhoboland and had not wandered into Igboland by mistake. The Igbo influence was so strong in Arhagba town that even church programs were been conducted in English and Igbo languages alone, and not in Urhobo their supposed indigenous language. I tell you, the only feature that still identify Arhagba as an Urhobo town are just their native surnames and culture. Even then, some of them have started bearing Igbo names and if this trend continues in the next 50 years, Igbo culture may completely take over the community and there may not be any trace of Urhobo culture or heritage in Arhagba again. In summary, if we should use language spoken in a place as sole yardstick for ethnic grouping, then in the next coming years Arhagba and other Orogun communities may no longer be classified or regarded as Urhobo but rather Igbo. I suppose that was the same case with Bonny, Ekpeye and others who now speak more of Igboid languages. Do you known that even in Rwanda Hutu and Tutsi are two separate ethnic groups but speak the same language? This was because the Tutsis presumably lost their language in the course of history and adopted the language of the Hutus. |
d only reason why u ijaws have mouth to talk is because we ve moved on and accepted one Nigeria, If Nigeria ever breaks let nothing can stop us from taking back our stolen lands from the Niger delta. Even of the Ijaws like let them stretch through all the coasts in west Africa 1billion of u guys cant stop us. Bunch of land grabbing greedy people. Thanks for knowingly or unknowing exposing the hidden evil agenda of Igbo Biafra and your forceful inclusion of Niger-Delta minorities in your Biafra map. But it won't work out. We Niger-Deltans are fully aware of Igbo expansionist plans due to their lack of sufficient land and access to the sea, but we won't succumb to it. We refused to be Biafrans. |
biafranqueen:The mention of "Going to Udo" caught my attention and reminded me of ancient "UDO" the capital of AKA KINGDOM [later re-named Benin Empire] during the "OGISO DYNASTY". Or was it actually a ceremonial rehearsal pointing to where the Obi Kingship authority came from which is the ancient Udo of the OGISOS? |
YonkijiSappo:Urhobo-Isoko people are not interested in joining either "Biafra" or "Oduduwa" Republics. Our options are: [1] to form a "Niger-Delta Republic" with Ijaws and other minorities, [2] collaborate with other Edoid tribes to establish "Otu-Edo Republic" or out-rightly set up our own independent "Ejadiovo Republic" [Madiovo republic]. No doubt, Urhobo-Isoko with its abundant landmass [appx. 7000 sq.km], rich resources and population [about 5 million] is bigger than some independent countries we have in the world today. |
Cooly100:Pakistan and India! After their independence from Britain, former "colonial India" was divided into two countries [modern India and Pakistan] and there was mass relocation of people to their respective new countries as part of the peace agreement. |
zombieHUNTER:Is "Nigeria" more diverse than "America [USA]" which has mixed population of white, black, yellow and coloured people with different ethnic, linguistic and religious background? |
LionDeLeo:Jews are in Israel and are not associated with crimes. |
OMANBALA1:OSA and OSE are Edoid prefixes for GOD. Both names mean the same; i.e. they refer to GOD. E.g. Osamede, Osamwese, Osaretin are Bini-Ishan names making references to "OSANOBUA/ OSENOBUWE". Urhobo's actual ancient name for GOD is "OSONOBRUGHWE" which is similar to the Bini-Ishan's. The name "OGHENE" actually means "Lord". That was why the "king of Ife" in ancient times was known to Edoid people as "Oghene Uhe" meaning the "Lord of Ife". However, the name OGHENE is now exclusively being used to honour and refer to GOD by Urhobo-Isoko people. |
DMerciful:ERI originated from ancient AKA KINGDOM [present-day Bini land]. He was a Chief Priest to the OGISOS and lived at the ancient capital UDO where he performed his spiritual duties. Following the collapse of the OGISO DYNASTY in about 900AD, ERI migrated with his party north-eastward and arrived Igala land before later moving southward into Igbo land where he established a settlement which he named ERI-AKA [to keep in remembrance where he came from which is "AKA" but now known as Benin Kingdom]. |
sorry1:That is the problem with you Igbo people. Any Niger-Deltan who does not agree with you is Afonja. Wa ihwo Igbo joma yotor! |
Mekus68:We need our own separate country and not Biafra. Our agitation is different. However, we are not against Igbos having their own homogeneous country; Biafra. |
Noneroone:You are a joke if you think you can coerce us Niger-Delta minorities into your Igbo Biafra. We know it's because of our abundant resources and landmass and access to the sea that is making you Igbos shout Biafra up and down. But we are not fools. Wake up from your fantasy and face reality of the present! Niger-Deltans are wiser now. This is year 2017 and not the 1960s. |
sunnyb0b0:Don't mind him. |
adadike281:Did you actually mean "east" which also include Borno, Taraba and Adamawa States? Because there are "two Easts" in Nigeria namely; "North-East" and "South-East". And infact, Borno State is more eastern than Anambra or Ebonyi States. |
hornyofife:You are ignorant of your history, and stop this display of shame. Igbos are a "pure Negro tribe" with "thick lips", "broad face and nose" and "woolly hairs". On the other hand the Jews are a "Semitic people [Caucasians]" with "thin lips", "narrow face and nose" and "curly/ straight hairs". The Falashas claims of Jewish origin is very obvious and convincing unlike that of the Igbo's embarrassing claims; [1] from ancient times they [the Falashas] are not pagans unlike the Igbos who were notorious pagans and cannibals prior to arrival of the Europeans, [2] the "Falashas have Semitic features and characteristics in their physical appearance" [e.g, narrow nose and face, thin lips, and curly/ straight hairs] unlike the "Igbos with no traces of Semitic features in their appearance but rather only Negro Bantu features and characteristics" [e.g, thick lips, broad nose and face, woolly hairs] and, [3]the "Falashas language sounds similar to the Hebrew language of the Jews" unlike the "Igbo language which is a pure West African Kwa language [the same grouping with Yoruba, Bini, Ashanti, etc] and bears no similarity to the Jewish Hebrew language". Sometimes I laugh when I see some Igbo people shamelessly say ""Eri" was a "Jew"" forgetting that this their so much talked about "Eri" came from no other place than ancient Aka Kingdom [which later became known as Benin Empire following the collapse of the Ogiso Dynasty]. "ERI" left "UDO" the Capital of ancient "AKA KINGDOM" due to the chaos and insecurity which trailed the fall of the "OGISO DYNASTY" in around 900AD. Eri and his followers migrated north-east ward and arrived Igala land where he lived briefly for some years. He later moved southward and finally founded "ERI-AKA" in Igbo land where he settled. Eri named the new settlement "ERI-AKA" in memory and remembrance of where he came from which is "AKA" his ancestral homeland. Have you ever asked yourself why ERI choose to name his first settlement [ERI-AKA] in Igboland after the ancient AKA Kingdom? To further prove to you that ERI came from ancient AKA land, Up till date the entity ERI is still revered and hold in high esteem among the Edoid people as a result of his exploits and mystical prowess in the days of the Ogisos. As a result ERI has been deified and, there are shrines dedicated to the serving of the mystical ERI in Benin land [ some called "Eri-windu"]. Furthermore, in many Edoid lands [e.g Bini, Ishan, Urhobo-Isoko, Etsako, Owan, etc], people still name their children after "Eri" [eg, Eri-nyoja, Eri-mohwo, Eri-do, Ehi-mofe, Ehi-ware, etc. NOTE: Urhobo-Isoko mostly pronounce it "ERI", while Bini and Ishan pronounce it "EHI" but they mean the same thing]. The point is: ERI was Negro who came from UDO in present BINI land and not from Israel. So if you are looking for ERI's origin go to Edoid lands and find out, okay! Moreover, the Biblical ERI is not the same pronunciation with the Igbo ERI. But the Igbo ERI is the same pronunciation with the Edoid ERI. Isn't this a further prove? The fact that the Igbo ERI is the same spelling with the Biblical ERI doesn't make them the same personality. Claiming that they are the same entity is childish. It's like claiming that the "Benin EDO" is the same with the "Japanese EDO", even though both refer to monarchy. I therefore advice you to go study and do more background-check research about Eri. |
PrickGetSize:Not true. |
cktheluckyman:So we Niger-Deltans the owners of the oil are now Igbos? Just continue to day-dream thinking we will join your Igbo Biafra. |
bitcoinvin:Don't blame the Northerners, rather blame Southerners for been stupid and cowards! What were Southerners doing when their fellow negroes [Northerners] allocated all these benefits and advantages to themselves? Yet Southerners will still come and say they are civilised and educated, yet the Northerners they often tagged "illiterates and fools" are in charge of affairs! Of what use then is the "so-called Southern Education and enlightenment" if we Southerners cannot take advantage of it to control the affairs of this country? Sometimes it baffles me to know that all the states and LGAs in Nigeria were created by the same Northerners we often mocked as fools and illiterates. Where wer are our people when these Northerners were orchestrating all these plans to their favour? Who then are the actual fools? Why are Southerners so docile? Don't we suppose to be in control going by educational advantage? The time to wake up is now. |
Piiko:Criminally-minded people! More reason we Niger-Deltans don't want to join their Biafra. |
mangala14:The remaining two [Ovie and Onomah] Urhobo-Isoko! |
SirShymexx:Ovie Ejariah and Onomah are Urhobo-Isoko names! |
yarimo:That is the more reason Niger Delta minorities are not interested in their Igbo Biafra. How can one cope with such criminally-minded people who seemed to love and value money more than themselves? |
Alariwo2:You make no sense in this your write-up! |
Kingsley1000:South South did not betray Igbo. The problem is that the Igbos are very arrogant, insulting, rude and dishonest. If not, how will some persons in the name of MASSOB and IPOB just sat in their South-East Igboland and begin to annex the lands of other ethnic groups into their dream Biafra without consulting or seeking consents of those tribes. Is that not disrespectful and disregard for feelings and aspirations of the minorities?. Why are some Igbos so rude and arrogant? Well, it may be as a result of the fact that Igbos did not have rich history of kingship and empire-building before colonial rule! That may explain why they lack courtesy and respect for elders or even kings. It's on record that the British were the ones who exposed the Igbos to civility and traditional leadership through the introduction of warrant chiefs, unlike we the Edoid people who have built and operated large organised kingdoms with powerful kings many centuries before arrival of Europeans!. |
caracas:But the Ijaw Youth Council [the umbrella body of Ijaw youths] have also came out to warn you Igbos not to include Ijaw lands in your Biafra now? |
deomelo:Just watch out! As long as the resource-rich Niger-Delta minorities refuse to join their Biafra the Igbos may not go, because their hope of developing their erosion-ravaged South-East homeland is built majorly on the oil resources of the South-South and access to the sea using the Niger-Delta. Don't think they [the Igbos] are fools. Just imagine if only Igbo land [including Delta Igbos and Rivers Igbos] form Biafra, it will be land-locked and no access to the sea. To make it worse, it will be completely surrounded by Nigeria just as Lesotho and Swaziland are completely surrounded by South Africa. The implication is that, every good Biafra will export or import will have to pass through Nigerian seaports or airspace with its attendant high duties Nigeria may impose on them. Sometimes I wonder whether these IPOB and MASSOB leaders have ever put these factors into consideration. |
technicallyrich:You are Igbo pretending to be Ijaw! We cannot be deceived. |
