You don't understand what he is doing, what dangote event is doing is called market control/price monopoly. Reduce price as production capacity increases. With time, other competitors such as Lafarge and Ibeto, won't be able to cope cos their production capacity is lower than that of dangote. With time, he will drive them out using price and when they are completely out, he will enjoy sole monopoly and can now fix price as e deems fit since there is no rival in the market. We should just be careful.

I took time to read through the telegraph interview and I was trying to spot where buhari tagged nigerians to be "criminals" but I couldn't spot such statement in his words.

I don't know where Bruce and his wailing goons got the message from that PMB described Nigerians as criminals.
Did you do literature in school? If yes, guess you didn't pay attention to your literal devices or diction. If you did, you should be able to translate the lines wherein PMB mentioned that a high % of Nigerians are all over foreign prisons. Yes he might have been telling the honest truth, but as a president, your duty is to sell the image of your country positively to the outside world. E. G china, Iran and Saudi Arabia despite their human right infringement back home, will never sell their countries image negatively, neither would South Africa with high records of drugs and violent crimes do same. Eastern Europe and Asia has the highest population of child prostitution, human trafficking and forced labour in the world. . Have you heard their president come our to openly sell their countries image negatively? The answer is no. Finally, Japan has one of the highest rate of organised mafia crime syndicate in the world same with Russia. Is there negative publicity from their president? Nope. America is number one when it comes to organised cyber crimes in the world, is there negative publicity from Obama? Nope. So you see where our president is missing it. If as a father, I go outside and tell the entire world that my children are criminals, the simple implication is that I failed in my duty as a father moreover no body will wanna associate or do business with my children not even the honest and hardworking ones. PMB is the father of Nigeria. Just think and have common sense. He should learn to apply diplomacy. I rise.

All well and good.
But I just have one question for u:under which provision in the constitution,an act, technicalities or anything near to it did the same supreme court give a judgement that gave PERPETUAL injunction from INVESTIGATION to fmr gov Peter Odili?
It's easy for people to use technicalities to justify a wrong decision, but it takes courage to do what is right, because if one is to go by your line of argument then even a murderer caught at the scene and in the act of the murder can also be freed by this same Supreme Court,by merely cleverly interpreting some section of d criminal act to justify the murder!
Good morning, you are not getting my point, lemme explain your murder analogy, it's easy to say one was caught at the scene of a crime having committed the crime thus becomes a suspect right? But the prosecution in law, must go beyond that speculation or fact to establish that it was indeed the suspect that committed the crime and not only did he commit murder, he had motive. The accused had motive and also acted on the motive. And furthermore, he was capable of committing such crime from a reasonable man's perspective. I. E , he had the mental capacity to know or ought to know the consequences of his action. And that it was an Act of revenge, malice and that it was premeditated this is when the defence raises any of the defences available to him in law.
Finally, the prosecution in doing this, must abide by the guidelines enshrined on the Evidence Act, Administration of Criminal Justice Act, amongst others for he fails to so do, he is bound to fail.
Lemme further clarify with a instance. Some men were caught adutrating dangote cement by mixing sand and other substances then rebag and sell as dangote cement.
At trial, the prosecution called a police official who caught them as a witness to testify that it was indeed a fake cement. No expert witness in the act of cement manufacturing was called to testify at trial. The trial court's conviction and the affirmation by the court of Appeal was quashed by the supreme court on the grounds that in law, a police official is not an expert in the act of cement manufacturing and thus cannot give expert evidence on same. Hope u now understand. Thanks

Selective use of the electoral act by the SCJ.
No where is law interpreted without taking reality into play.
No matter how some try to rationalize this, the supreme court has taken us back to 2007.
For those claiming the sc interpreted the law rightly, can anyone explain under which provision in the constitution the SC ruled that Peter Odili had perpetual injunction from being prosecuted?
Just as that of Odili was wrong, these election ruling in Rivers and Akwa Ibom are also wrong and no one shud justify the SC!
... I commend to u d infallible dictum of Kayode Eso JSC (now reruicicat in peace) in Adigun V. A.G. Oyo State. He said thus: The Supreme Court is a super court and all d Justices are super men. They don't err and even when dey do, it becomes law. The law is law no matter how hard it appears.
Mind you, the Supreme Court will only invoke the doctrine of necessity or consider public policy when the interest and unity of the nation is at stake. And in this case there was nothing to portray or insinuate the aforesaid.
What the erstwhile INEC chairman would have done was to make sure the new guidelines visaviz the introduction of the card reader was interto incorporated into the Electoral Act and this he would have done by simply forwarding a bill to the National Assembly to amend same. A mere administrative guideline can never supersede the provisions of an Act of Parliament. Hope you understand why and how. Thanks. I rise.

However. The truth must be told. It is shameful that the supreme court will affirm elections that both the national and international communities have condemned for the mindless rigging that the marred the election.

Two case studies are the Rivers and akwa ibom state governorship elections that were marred with electoral malpractices. both the tribunal and the court of appeal validated the fact thar bothe elections were rigged without an iota of conscience. yet the supreme court shamelessly validated those rigged elections to the surprise of Nigerians and the world at last.

The supreme court judgement of late has become a national and international embarrassment. And our highest court in the land is beginning to lose their reputation.

The supreme court is beginning to emerge as the greaest threat to free and fair elections in Nigeria.

Before you start criticising the judgement of the honourable court, you need ascertain their reasoning and why or how the arrive at that conclusion. You don't just wake up and start postulating base on emotions and speculations. The court don't have emotions or speculate. They deal solely based on fact, evidences availed them and the position of the law towards same. Going by these plain definitions, the Ekiti elections were rigged if what Aluko and Koli are saying is true. Remember Omisore also concurred to the authenticity of that audiotape and meeting. If you see nothing wrong with kidnapping and arresting all major opposition figures and disenfranchising them from partaking in election process, i have not much to discuss with you.
Sorry you are looking at the dictionary meaning, remember an act, action or inaction is not an offense until it is codified in our statute books and the punishment for such clearly spelt out. Was there multiple voting, answer no. Was there ballot box snatching? Answer is no. Was there under age voting? Answer is no. Was there manipulation of figures and alterations of result sheets, answer is no.
What he alleged was that some key APC members and some aggrieved PDP members were blocked by security forces from being on the field to work to APC i. e give out cash gifts to voters and foot soldiers on the field. Is that rigging or outsmarting? Just want to know. Pls I need to know.

I know you had no intention to hurt your wife and I also know she knows you had no intention of hurting her. We know how women are, some of them are quick to run their mouths and this makes us hit them most times.

I am happy you are ready to learn from your mistakes. Women are to be cared for and loved, hitting them is something we as men should never do no matter what the circumstances are.

I believe she is just shocked that you hit her for the first time in 5years and she is trying to come out from that shock. It's good to give her sometime, but you need to use this opportunity to step up your romantic game.

I would advise you to start doing things you haven't done in a while. Always come home with a treat and some gifts, send some love text messages while at work and always try to put a smile on her face. Trust me, she will definitely come out of it and apologize for provoking you to hit her.

Be careful cos if this after all he cannot do with me mentality gets into her head, you will be sorry. I agree with you.

I never said bride price is unvivlical but only stated the reason why it is paid and where it was not a case of penalty,it was a voluntary gifting from the groom family.

Nevertheless,if we are to follow biblical bride price,it means ONLY VIRGINS ARE WORTH A BRIDE PRICE..but human tradition today has made it mandatory to pay exurbitant bride price even on a girl who have been laid by different men.
Yeah I agree only virgins deserve bride price as at then, but in this modern world, virginity has been relegated to the background but that does not mean one shouldn't pay bride price as per traditions.
Well, different traditions. I my culture and that of where I grew up, bride price is less than 50naira. And the items you are to provide as less than 70k and some are far less depending on the family and how close you are to them as their son or in law to be. The only expensive aspect is the entertainment. And it's not compulsory. So a quite man can conveniently marry a wife with 100k or less.
And to me, that is not much.

Oga go and read again...

Bride price in the bible is different from Abraham servant gave rebekah and her family.

bride price is a specified sum paid as a penalty for rape while what Abraham gave was a voluntary gift and no where was it mentioned in the bible that it is a compulsory practise.

Before i write anything on African largest online social platform im always careful to do thourough home work.

Hope you understand..NO WHERE in the bible was bride price mentioned as a prerequisite for marriage but as a penalty for defiling a virgin. And yes you can pay bride price and still not be given the woman to marry.

EXODUS 22 17

If her father utterly refuses to give her
to him, he will still pay money equal to
the bride-price for violating virgins.
@toks2008. From the passage you quoted, you have proven that bride price regardless of the terminology used in the Bible is actually biblical. Read Exodus 22: 16-17 jointly.

Exodus 22:16 "And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.
EXODUS 22 17 if her father utterly refuses to give her
to him, he will still pay money equal to
the bride-price for violating virgins."

Now let's check the meaning of the word "endow" according to the English dictionary, it means as follows;

To furnish with money or its equivalent, as a permanent fund for support; to make pecuniary provision for; to settle an income upon; especially, to furnish with dower; as, to endow a wife; to endow a public institution.
To enrich or furnish with anything of the nature of a gift (as a quality or faculty); -- followed by with, rarely by of; as, man is endowed by his Maker with reason; to endow with privileges or benefits.
To bestow freely.
To be furnished with something naturally.
synonyms
♦ begift

Check the part in bold, I believe that has laid to rest the issue whether bride price, endow, or dowry, regardless of which ever terminology is used is biblical or not.

Regarding the fact as to whether or not it's a penalty, virginity was considered sacred in the old testament and same with African culture before the bastardization of our culture by the white. So therfore if at marriage it was discovered a bride was not a Virgin it's was a disgrace to the her family, cos they had special robe they wore back then. (the can consider the story in 2sam or so, wherein King David Son slept with his half sister), for the sake of clarity. So therefore as a means of punishment, pursuant to Exodus 22 :17, the offender will endow(pay her pride price, but to punish him, the father of the victim might refuse to give her to him. Hence the term "if". It therefore connotes some parents did give their daughters out to the offender after she was endowed.
Now let's consider Africa culture way back, if your son had canal knowledge of a maiden then and it was discovered whether thru pregnancy or not, the family of the girl always insisted on some form of compensation either via marriage or otherwise.
Hope this has also raid to rest whether or not bride price was an act of punishment.
I rise.
Thanks

Actually, to me, you made no sense. So because bride price was mentioned in ur bible as a fine for rape, i should then not adhere to my cultural practice. It is absurd and myopic to hear people talk about life making reference to only koran and bible. What happens to other religious and cultural beliefs? If you must talk about life then you have to be secular, leave the 'bible said this, koran said that' for your church/mosque congregation.
However one chooses to be joined in marriage is nobody's business, as far as the couples agree to it. But then, one's culture should come first to mind. You can't leave your cultural practice and be practicing another man's. How many of those white men practice yours?
So there is no such thing as 'best wedding bla bla bla supported by bla bla bla'. But i think tradition should come first, not some imported something.

Ok sis but can i ask you a quick question.

If you had a legal wedding with someone and the bride price has not been paid will you say both of you are not yet married?
Toks2008,thanks for this wonderful write up. As a lawyer and as a Nigerian, the only marriage that is known, is the traditional marriage and if u like you can perform that statutory marriage which is performed at the court/marriage registry.(it's optional). You won't get jailed or penalised for nothing contracting one. White weddings is a hoax to me. An imported culture. Whites or westerners don't pay bride price. Over there, a young man can moved from Atlanta to San Antonio in Texas, see a girl he loves and marry her without parental consent. But in Africa, in Nigeria, marriage is between families and not the bride and the bridegroom alone. The girl is usually handed over to the husbands family and not the husband per say. Hence family (father) must be present or represented at least.
Now to the statutory marriage, it's trendy cos if u wish to travel out and/ or perform certain obligations, it will be required of you. And also in divorce proceedings the provisions of the Marriage Act and the Matrimonial Causes Act as usually adhered to, and the High Court has exclusive jurisdiction and this tends to favour the woman and the children of the marriage, hence the trendy nature. But the customary court has jurisdiction as per traditional marriages and the customs and traditions of the land are usually invoked which are often than none unfavorable to women(wivies).Hence they insist on statutory marriage.
Now let's look at it from the Jahoval witnesses point of view. They usually encourage members to perform one which is basically the traditional marriage, they have a service or marriage talk show in church and it's over. This was also brought down by the whites. Have you ever bordered to ask y this difference? In Africa, traditional marriage is paramount of that is our identity. That's what makes us Africans. Statutory marriage is as a matter of convince that can be performed any time after the traditional marriage. On a final note, no church or pastor will allegedly join couples in church, when the pride price has not being paid. No church does that. Have you every border to ponder on this and find out why? I rise.

The clip was shared on YouTube in December, gaining traction in recent days on social media. Some Twitter users mocked Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdelaziz Al Sheikh, saying chess is an intelligent game and that is why conservative clerics decry it. Others defended his religious advice, saying that many other Islamic scholars have also warned that the game can be addictive and cause people to lose focus from their daily prayers and remembrance of God.
Saudi Arabia’s influential religious establishment adheres to a strict Sunni Islamic ideology known widely as Wahhabism.

Now, you have seen him – marijuana parting his lips,
a tattooed snake on his arm and in his hand is a bottle

You heard him say that his favorite date is the 7th of July, and you assumed that was his birthday.

You stood afar and criticized him, you told your friends that hell awaits him, you shook your head and said to yourself, “He is already doomed”. But you do not

Now, he only finds solace in his gang because his dad and mom are on the brink of divorce!

She knocked on your door asking to help you do anything for food or money. She looked so unkempt and malnourished.

You were torn between pity and
disbelief. You know her uncle to be a rich and religious man, an elder in his church, and you can help but wonder why she would be in this sorry state. You concluded that she has been wayward and disrespectful and this is his way of punishing her for some time.

Without asking her any questions, you managed to give her a rumpled ₦100 note, sent her away and told her not to come back.

She leaves, fighting tears, wondering how she would go back to her uncle who had sworn not to take care of her except she warms his bed!

That man you saw yesterday has been going through a hard time.

He is a job-hunting father who just lost his only son and has been pondering on how to bury his dead.

He bumped into you and before he could apologize, you have
rained insults on him. You saw the tears well up in his eyes but you did not bother to show any empathy. To you, he is just a depressed fellow who should not bother others with his woes.

You saw her in a bar, wreaking of alcohol. She kept laughing and muttering to herself, “Why?
Why?” You walked past her, even though a voice inside of you kept telling you to find out her problem.

You shut the voice down and tagged her “A cheap drunk. A woman for that matter”! But that cheap drunk is a widow who had just been diagnosed with
breast cancer, moreover, she just lost her job a month ago. Now, she thinks those bottles of alcohol could wash away her sorrow.***

And you claim to have the light, you boast in the scriptures because you know only the letters (but you are devoid of revelation)!

You failed to bring the “bad, hard guy” close and show him the truth and now he has fulfilled the request of his gang by raping his younger sister
leaving his whole family distraught and confused

Your ₦100 could not help that young girl for she finally yielded to the advances of her “rich and
religious” uncle. Now, she has been deflowered, all hormones have been let loose.

She have been selling her wares to all and sundry and she got pregnant.

At present, her cold body is lying in a mortuary because of a failed D&C just because you refused to bring her close and show her the ideals of life. And you claim you have the light
