Politics › Buhari Would Have Been A Lame-duck President by KnowAll(op): 6:52pm On Apr 28, 2011
With little or no Senators & House of Reps men & Women, how Buhari hope to rule I just don"t know and get it, more than anything to me he probably look like a candidate dilly-dallying with the throes & uncertainty of impeachment. Most of his policies would not see d light of day, his ministers would not be approved by d House on time, how he hoped to rule & move d nation forward is still shredded in a misetry, I think Nigerians made d right choice and those BB fans had better take solace in d fact that after 3 years of Turai's de-facto to rule what we needed was a President with balls as suppose to another inherently weakened leader like Buhari.

Is Buhari not aware that he needed support from d House for his policies to see d light of day, well I believe his Presidency was all about me! me!! & me!!! every other person can go to hell. huh

How can Kaduna Nzeogwu be known as a Mid-westerner, when he should be known as a Southern Nigerian from the South west?
Nzeogwu came from Mid-Western State, that is why he is referred to as a Mid-Western. Mid-Western State was created in 1963. So the description of him as a Mid-Western is spot on similar to describing someone from spain as a spanish.
Politics › Re: Sw: What Is Next? by KnowAll(m): 2:51am On Apr 28, 2011
Certain things nee to be address.

1. We need new dynamic people running Odua Investment Co. That Company can be used as d springboard for all economic rejuvenation

2. The Company would issue a right issue whereby Yoruba sons & daughters all over d world invest their hard earn cash and end up being a part owner of this conglemerate. The right issue would not be restricted to only Yorubas but it would be opened to all Nigerians.

3. The aim of d right issue is to generate a war chest of between $5 to $10 billion dollars which would be used in stages to develop infrastructural facilities.

4. A fast rail between Lagos - Ibadan can evolve from a Train service between Lagos - Redeem Camp which would eventually be extended to IB.

5. Odua Investment company if properly managed could be d largest conglomerate in Africa, all we need is visionary individuals running it.

@ KNOW ALL,
You re kiddin me,  Lagos is  by far cheaper than Abuja, houses around my office are sold for N950 million, Ni.3 billion, infact the least you could get in Asokoro is around N600 to 750 million. So by comparison, Lagos is far cheaper than Abuja.
Am sure no diaspora can afford house in Abuja, except such is part of the looting elites
Was about to say something similar. The property market in Abuja is insane!
When you have over 450 lottery winners in person's of Senators and Reps men earning in excess of a $1 million dollars per year one would expect the properties in such places not only to be insane and chaotic but lacking direction or any sense of value for money.

Makes too much sense. But i think
No. 1 and No. 10 contradict each other.
No they are not contradictory, Number one, the state gets about 35% of all revenues accrued after 13% derivation have been taken out. The derivation should be increased to say 20% and the states allocation reviewed upwards to say 45% to 50% instead of the current 35%

i think you have said  it all you are dangerously close to self indulgence.
why not be silent and see what happens
We need the people going to the new house assembly in May 2011 to re-jig our federalism from an overtly centred federalism to more of regionalism or statism where each Governor would be a de-facto President in his/her own right.

Those send to the centre would be errand boys like the way it was in the 60’s. The centre would not be a desirable place to be because the states would be getting the bulk of the revenue.
Politics › Re: Time To Weaken The Centre by KnowAll(op): 9:43am On Apr 26, 2011
20.

Competition amongst states leads to development. If people invest and see the returns of their investment, they would be encourage to invest the more in every backwater in the land thereby leading to a wholesale development all around. Competition made Europe what it is today.

most sensible thread i have seen in a long time.
in order for your suggestions to happen the constitution will need to change and there does not seem to be any appetite for this by those who can change it. in order word those at the centre of the federal gravy train need to abolish themselves.
this is not even an agenda of any party

IF any house of assembly men deserve $1 million dollars a year it should be the state men(not that I support such gluttonic salaries and benefits) and not the federal men, what are they doing in Abuja anyway.
Politics › Re: Time To Weaken The Centre by KnowAll(op): 9:33am On Apr 26, 2011
19. The Nigerian people are being colonized by Abuja, it is time Abuja transfer power back to the people. If there is no booty at centre, Buhari and his cohorts would not be running for Presidential elections un-countable times.  DEMOCRACY IS POWER BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE, people want full control of their resources.

18. The only politics that counts is Local Politics, it is Local Politics that touches the Lives of 98% of the people, we should be moving towards enpowering our local instituions and de-emphasis the over reliance on Abuja.
Politics › Re: Time To Weaken The Centre by KnowAll(op): 9:12am On Apr 26, 2011
17. Lagos State should be able to control the ports of Lagos but supervision from customs and NDLEA officers would be carried out so that contrabands don.t get into the country. The momey realised a certain % would be kept by the state or city just like the oil producing states. Other Port Cities LIKE Ontisha, Sapele, Warri, should through the help of both the state and private individuals develop their facilties in other to divert traffic from Lagos to other Cities therby pushing up their Revenue Base.

I do not see a reason why a City like Baro in Niger State cannot serve as the main port of Northern Nigeria. The whole fabric of this country needs to be re-organised and same goes like Cities Like Jalingo in Taraba state and Yola in Adamawa State they too can be port cities.
Politics › Time To Weaken The Centre by KnowAll(op): 8:58am On Apr 26, 2011
Time to give the states and LG more money and de-emphasis the centre.

1. Revenue formula review upwards for the states and LG to get more.

2. FG roads in town and city centres should be under state control. It does not make sense for the FG in Abuja to BE charge of a road like the " Lagos- Badagry expressway in the heart of Lagos" roads like this all over Nigeria should be handed over to state control. The FG SHOULD only attend to inter state roads, that is roads outside urban areas linking one state to another.

3. All Federal Goverment Secondary should be handed over to the respective state goverments where they reside, admission policy would still remain the same.

4. All Federal University should be handed to state or sold to private individuals, University should endeavour to make money from delving into commercial activiies like commercial farming, fishing, and any other venture capital project. If Uni's cannot practise what they are teaching the kids then they are not worth it.

5. All Airports should be sold off to private individuals, both Heathrow and Gatwick are privately owned.

6. The FG job should be limited to control of the armed forces, foreign affairs, customs and immigration and maybe administrationof Abuja.

7. All roads motorways should be privatised like the lekki project in Lagos.

8. The Local goverments should be given more money and elections at this tier should be conducted by the centre as supposed to the state. How most state LG's vote for an imcunbent Governor I dont get it.

9. If the centre is weak, this do or die policy where people are ready to kill and miamed would reduce to the bearest minimum.

10. Resources Control a definately yes, the derivative to Oil Producing State should be reviewed upwards.

11. These are sailent facts that we have to deal with now.

12. Scrap the N.Y.S.C. makes no- sense.

13. Prune down the Federal Ministries and parastatals obvioulsy some would be scrapped like education and aviation since thoses activities would be at the hands of the state and Private individuals.

14. Prune down the House Assembly including the pay and allowances they get.

15. Five year instead of this 4 year term.

16. Anymore suggestion? huh

If they call for a re-run Today for the elections in the SS and SE Jonathan would now clear 101% after the Mayhem Buhari and his cohorts have caused in the North they would not have those goodwill votes they got in that region. Especially if the Mother of that Corper campaign against CPC.The fact is CPC has totally lost the South now and  if election where carried out today, CPC would not even get 3% votes in Lagos or Ibadan let alone SS and SE.

They did not help their case. What I see now when I see CPC's logo is a bunch murderous despots who want power by all means. Looks like Bakare has started having delusions and day dreams of him seating at the VP's offce, I am afraid no sane Nigeria would want to touch that party with a barge pole. They are all looneys. This is the end of the CPC as a party, I sincerly want to see how they would revive themselves come 2015.

Politics › Pdp Is Guilty As Charge Re-election Mayhem by KnowAll(op): 3:43pm On Apr 22, 2011
At times I wonder why it took the Jonathan's regime a whole 48 hours of pillaging by marauding youths to stop the the rot before it got out of hands. Have they forgotten they have Federal Civil Servants, NYSC corp members and other FG workers in the various states in the North. By not heeding to the calls of this loyal servants whose only sin was serving their father land in their time of needs is not only equivocal and  synonymous to complacency of the highest order but it is abject and utterly dereliction of duty by a Government who knew within her inner soul that she has lost the election and by so doing lost the right and the authority to instruct the military to stop the mayhem. It probably took an over zealous aide to remind the C-in-C that he should forget what they did the previous night,  manipulating election results in his favour and focus on happenings on the ground, a call back to reality on the ground had to be re-enforced into the C-in-C civilised mind. True that man does not want a single blood spilled on his behalf but this business is dirty business and shiiit happens.

The worst thing is the complacency was phenomenal in which the house of the VP and technically the second C-in-C's house was touched without any resistance by guards men despite the fact that Kaduna is the most militarized state in the nation. I have not forgotten Nigeria Defence Academy is located there and so is the 1st Battalion of the Army.

If the VP's residency can be touched then God help us ordinary citizens of the country, it means we are at the mercy of those blood thirsty Almanjeris, this state of the nation 50 years after independence is unacceptable. Goodluck Jonathan has started his second stint as an elected leader on a very bad note. The heads that are meant to roll should be more than an unknown Internal affairs Minister that got sacked, the Igbo Chief of Army Staff is also culpable, so is the commanding officers in Units around Kano, Kaduna and Bauch State.

I was discussing my displeasure of the whole thing with a friend when he said the reasons why nothing was done for 48 hours was because " You cannot Rob a person house, despoil his wife without a face mask and come back the next day and ask her hand for marriage" he said the immobility of the PDP and the FG to react to the crisis tearing the country to pieces was the guilty conscience prickling the C-in-C, A Gentleman who never knew Politics can be this dirty and ruthless, how do you reconcile the fact that you have just rob the people of their democratic right to choose a leader and now suppress their anger by shooting them point blank or inflicting other  draconian and horrible things on the poor citizens. The  evil heads that strengthen the President's hand and hard stance would only assure him that is the way it is played, a few deaths need to occur in other for us to establish a level playing field where our guilt would be absolved as the deaths in the north would awaken the southerners to the anarchic tendencies of "Buhari".

If those death occurs it would inflame even the most die-hard CPC fan in the South against Buhari. And truly I have seen die-hard CPC fan baying for Hausa blood in a sickening and maddening desire for revenge. The PDP the architect of this anarchy they eventually achieved both goals they set out from the onset to achieve. Today CPC is synonymous with murderous hoodlums going about decapitating southerners head with ignominy, Buhari's clean and commendable anti-corruption stance have been throwing out of the window, all people can see of this passionate General is a deranged bigot ready to pull the curtain down on the Nigeria polity if he does not become President. He Buhari did not help matters when he publicly declared he would not go to court if he losses the election when we all know in any democracy the courts are still the last arbiter for the common man.

Some would argue he has no faith in the court rulings but if he can prove his case beyond reasonable doubt a primi-facia case even a biased Judge would have to reluctantly concede to foul play. No bent Judge want to see a murder weapon link to their man, if it so happens the precedents of the law would take her natural course and nothing even the President can do about that.

Politics › Re: Ribadu Dumps Acn For Tinubu by KnowAll(m): 10:38am On Apr 22, 2011
Ribadu should have followed his conviction. He had plans for 2015, but he got drafted into the 2011 elections by Baronic fiat which he fell for going by the rampaging successful court rulings in favour of ACN. His thinking then this party has come of age as the official de-facto opposition and was in pole position to give the PDP a run for her money. True going by proceedings between October and November 2010 one could not think otherwise , having high  hopes by people like Ribadu would not be out of place.

Ribadu did not help matters however, how can a Presidential candidate lose his own ward, I choose to believe that he had not done the ground work necessary in preparation for elections of this magnitude I just hope he is not damaged goods and a liability to both self, and any future party he plans to join. But inherenting Buhari's political machinery,  his marauding and vociferous followers and going by his own(Ribadu's) antecedent of being a worthy and exemplary anti-corruption czar might help Buhari's teeming supporters to switch loyalty to this young man who is albeit a grand-standing photocopy of the sage " Sai Buhari",   his hiccups at the ACN might be seen and viewed as a deliberate Yoruba conspiracy to discredit a rising Northern star in preparation for their own son come 2015.

Messer's Fashola would be out of office by 2015 and if put forward as a presidential candidate with his huge admirers all over Southern Nigeria and the Middlebelt, he would be an electoral asset to any would be party,  we may yet have another North/ South divide in the country if Fashola is pitched against Ribadu in 2015.

On the brighter side like the rumour mills have been saying for sometime now, that Fashola might ditch ACN for Labor or even CPC, if it were the latter, the combination of Ribadu/ Fashola would be a Political Tsunami  that would overwhelm the polity and sweep any other political force away.

I doubt if  this would come to frution thus, why would a man of Fashola's enigma stoop low and run as a VP to Ribadu, a man that has never held any political position short of EFCC Chairman, that would be the bone of contention.  I don't see CPC fielding any Southerner for now, perhaps Bakare may get a second shot and chance of being Ribadu's VP but the recent spat between these two gentlemen might have put paid to that idea.

I still see it as feasible going by the salient fact that both Ribadu and Bakare are political minnows who has little or no electoral values in their own locality and in their own capacity,  inherenting someone like Buhari's  political assets would be too luring for politically naive Bakare not to compromise and reaching an agreement accepting what Ribadu has to offer him that is assuming Ribadu inherets Buhari's political machinery.

Equally I don't think Bakare would want go back to that role of a howling pastor in the backwater of Sango Otta who nobody would take any serious after his poor performance in the elections of 2011 especially in the SW and the resulting riots that ensued, he has however tasted semblance of power and would be hooked on it like a cocaine addict who is hooked on his drugs.

Has John Oyegun of ANPP spoken to anyone after the defeat,

Has Fola Alade of ACN or what is his name again spoken to anyone after the defeat,

Has Namidi Sambo whose party won the election spoken to anyone even thus he was at a receiving end of the dastardly act carried by over zealous CPC supporters.

why do you people want Bakare to speak, to speak about what?,  going by historical antecedents VP's from prospective parties has never spoken or were ever heard off after the elections,  why do we want to break from what has been the norm and tradition to some one's wishful thinking. He has gone back to his day job( a preacher ) like the aforementioned individuals above, his rights as a civil and free citizen of this country must be respected and I am sure when the right time comes he would share some of his experience with us.

In the interim we should endeavour to be patient and wait until such a time but for now we must respect other people's fundermental right to privacy.

I also believe that the only state Ndigbo need right now is Anioma state which MUST be joined to SE zone.
For us, it is about balance of power at the center. If we get Anioma state and join it to SE zone, Igbo voice will be heard loud and clear at the center.

And we can plan our cities together too
I agree with your position and that was what my peice was all about, outside off Anioma any other request in SE 'proper' is a joke and fruitless exercise.
Politics › Re: SE Governors Should Map Out And Plan New Towns Now by KnowAll(m): 7:48am On Apr 22, 2011
That map by Amaka do not do justice to the Igbo quest for additional state. The idea of clamouring for yet another state in such an enmeshed and squeezed urban conurbation (or so it seems from an unbridled eye) may make a mockery of such request only equal to the rather unsolicited and mute request for Lagoon State from Lagos state. That request seems laughable,  personally I think, if at all any state should be created it would have to be Anioma state. Any other request, and I have seeing many people proffer certain segements of existing state taken out and added to yet certain areas expunged from other state creating what seemingly would be an artificial in conception of a new state. The idea of severing many states in other to create a concoction of states out of mish-mashing many other areas is a non-starter, sounds like creating something out of nothing, " abracadabra".

I personally think when people are bereft of idealogical ideas of moving communities into the next development stage or cycle it is then they result in making un-wanton, unbelievable and redundant request, the thought that another state should come out of the present day SE and not the (SS being a genuine request for Anioma state) must be muted with the utmost secrecy and in hush tone. The idea is dumb, the arguments are equally amateurish and a no-brainer, some of the more noted and celebrated arguments was the NW has 7 states and other regions have six each, why should the SE be short-changed.

Understandably the SE has 5 state presently, but the inclusion of " Anioma" in that equation would be seen as a right decision going by the affinity of surrounding areas most especially " Onitsha" which were it not for the River Niger can be termed a suburb of " Asaba" or vice versa.

These are residues of anomalies created by some of the many delusional dictators and buffons that have strode in our corridors of power, this particular one was the handy work of  " IBB" as a present to his bride, is one sham and convoluted idea that has been left to linger-on for too long, the issues here needs to be addressed and promptly so. This amongst many others are some of the terrible legacies of semi-illiterate leadership that was bestowed on our nation from yester-years. I hope the next parliament would be able to address this abberration the sooner when they reconvene rather than later.

Politics › Re: Court Rejects Mohammed Abacha As Cpc Kano Governorship Candidate by KnowAll(m): 4:24pm On Apr 21, 2011
Now I have a problem with this judgement. Not that I'm not happy with M. Abacha finally losing the chance to milk Kano state dry like his family did to Nigeria but worried about the judgement seeming inconsistency with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2011 as amended. I am aware that the Electoral act says all candidates for elective positions must emerge through primary elections. Now this judgement is saying that the names submitted by party board of trustees are the authentic names and thereby not reckoning with the winner of the primary elections. It says the board of trustees of the party have final says on who the candidates of the party is. How does this reconcile with the fact that candidates must emerge through primaries? Or am I the one missing something here?

Please somebody should help analyze this judgement.
The court is only reminding us the final judgement irrespective of primaries lies with the board of trustee of a party. You must understand that a political Party are groups of people that came together as like minded individuals who have a common believe, ideology are brotherliness. In the event where an idealogical adverse individual slipped through the fit and proper person's test, the BOT of the party can rein-in at such flagrant disregard for their rules of engagement thereby throwing the book at the individual by not recognising his/her victory.

What I am saying here is that a particular individual can and might through the use of undemocratic tactics hijack a primary process making it one- directional to their advantage and  favour either through financial inducement of delegates by way of buying their votes usurping the legitimacy and integrity of the elections.

Although this dis-service having been perpetuated under the radii might look genuine on the surface but when viewed holistically by BOT  of the party and other aggrieved contestant, a seemingly clear pattern of ingenious election rigging might be uncovered but not provable but on the balance of such probability and the power invested on the BOT of the party such wanton disregards for the rules by supposedly deep pockets might be frown upon and the final results as witnessed and displayed by all asunder might be withdrawn thereby evoking the party's right to chart a different course which unfortunately is an indelible and a constitutional right of the party,  to opt for an alternative electoral process if the electoral process is deemed inconclusive in anyway or form.

The ruling only re-enforces AND RIGHTLY SO,  the different avenues and ways in which political parties can use in effecting particular choices of candidates standing for their elections, although doing it through the universally accepted transparent method called the primaries is good and on the surface seems the most plausible way, this method can be overwhelmed by unscrupulous individuals who can map out and pilot an election victory to the dismay and shock of the party hireachy.

The bottom-line is the party wants like minded individuals  as their candidates, primaries have a way of springing  surprise to party grandees that explains the reason why Mrs Tinubu did not stand for a primary, because of the herd mentality of human beings in general. One cannot rule out the possibility of mass conspiracy against a candidate especially when monetary inducement, loath and envy(as in the case of Mrs Tinubu)has a role to play in this mass hysteria.
