What you have failed to realize is that Yerima and his ilk have used religion to enslave the North and the same hypocritical dolt called Yerima who would readily use Islam as an excuse for
Are u saying Fashola /Tinubu with their Voodoo Economics have not made lagosians any poorer and slaves in the slums of lagos, u must hear yourself out. OR better still go and watch welcome to Lagos to refresh your memory.

Or better still OBJ has not enslaved Nigerians despite spending $16 billion dollars of our commonwealth  by covering the whole land in complete darkness to the detriment of all. We are all at the mercy of crazed hoodlums who resort to this dastardly act not because they enjoy it but as a means to an end.

Yerima is the cause of millions of Nigerians enslaving themselves in Europe either as janitors cleaning toilets or as women of easy virtues selling their bodies for a token 1Euro ( I guess that is some money N220.00 when converted to Naira.) I thought IBB was the cause, well I am learning every day.

The Mubarak regime that you so disparage has made paedophilia a crime and yet Egypt is about 80% muslim. So stop all the rubbish you people keep on saying that Islam
Mubarak regime has so many juicy conformist laws in its books in theory in practise you are talking of another kettle of fish.

This year the number of black Muslims from daafur who has being shot in Egypt whilst trying to cross the border to Isreal are in excess if 100. Muslim brotherhood indeed.

It is only a lunatic who would subject himself to the Egyptian draconian and toture gulag chambers( Even the Americans discreetly export Terrorist to Egypt to be giving inhumane treatment in a process known as extra- ordinary rendition)
.

Answer this simple question, are you any better than the Egyptian Muslims that criminalized paedophilia? For goodness sake grow yourself a brain before posting irrelevancies
I think the Nigerian Muslim are better than the Egyptian Muslims because they have a God giving right to choose their leaders and make their own laws. This unsung privilege we take for granted in our country,  millions in Egypt would exchange the fake façade of prosperity for genuine freedom an allusion they aspire to get one day, that one day may never come as Messer Mubarak is already lining up his son for eventual take over.

Are you now a lawyer? Or are you just extending your foolishness to new heights, because NL is not a law court. What a donkey!
Whether you like it or not, Yerima is a rap!st, child molester. A paedophile! And you are a paedophile lover and child molester.
I am wondering, are you vying to be his next driver, so you can sell your 13 year old sister or daughter to the attentions of Yerima's wrinkly d*ck?
If I was a lawyer I would not fear any better than the stick I have already being giving. I doubt if this trial ever comes to Court, I doubt if any sane lawyer would take up the case, not with the way people would hound u out of town.

If I was lawyer I would not take Yerima’s case. The only person who would take his case would have to be an equally fundamental cleric lawyer in which case he might not be the best candidate for the case.

Such individual would be fighting the case on its emotions rather than by the merit or de-merit of the law.

And you are a paedophile lover and child molester.
There have never being a history of a 51 year old marrying a 13 year old in my part of the country. I am from the same state as Gani Fawehinmi, I am a crusader for justice, I would implore the full wrath of the law befall Mr Yerima if he has committed a crime.

You calling me a paedophile is a low blow just because I am arguing the position of law. Have it occurred to you that our present President, President Goodluck is also culpable in this case, he being the custodian of law and order for the whole nation.

( A federal law was blatantly and brazenly broken in broad day light in Abuja and no attempt or steps was taking to rectify or instill that justice prevails)

Don’t u think a 51 year old marrying a 13 year old foreign girl under Goodluck’s nose probably less than 3 miles from ASO Rock would put a big question mark on his leadership.

This case is not a one man case but rather a systemic institutional failure of  the different levels of government, from the SSS, to the Immigration, to the Police, to the lawyers in the Ministry of Justice and finally to the Presidency where the buck actually and finally stops.

@ KNOWITAL, I'just a pity that come on this forum to talk abt the position of the law, when in fact you have absolutly no clue as to what the Law is in Nigeria. I AS A LAWYER  CAN TELL U THAT U TOTALLY MISSED IT. CAN STAKE MY LIFE YOU ARE NOT A LAWYER, AND I SHOULD D/4 ADVICE THAT YOU STOP PLAYING THE LAWYER. FOR STARTERS, NIGERIAN LAW IS SETTLED ABT THE ISSUES OF A STATE LAW BEING INCONSISTENT WITH A FEDRAL LAW.
You may wish to read the supreme court decision in the case of AG FEDERATION Vs A.G OGUN The Law is that such state law shall be void to the extent of its inconsistency. This we Lawyers call the doctrin of COVERING THE FIELD.
Where was your type and the whole NBA when Sharia Law was declared as the “numero uno” in 9 states of the federation in 1999. How come everyone of u from Messers CinC President OBJ and his Service Chiefs to toothless NBA, how come u all kept mute about it then.  undecided

From all knowall's posts that I have read, I have come to only one conclusion. The man is a poorly educated bloody  that has no idea what he is talking about. How can anybody except the person is mentally deranged(like knowall surely is) compare zamfara with Egypt? Knowall is a complete buffoon to compare the standard of living in zamfara with egypt. If they were truly practising sharia yerima's hand would surely have been amputated by now cos the man is a thief. Or how else can one explain the 100,000 dollar bride price? Where did he get his money from if not Zamfara state treasury? What was yerima's legacy in zamfara? All these dolts that never use their brain but instead let a thieving  like yerima dictate what islam is to them. I actually forgot that the North has the highest percentage of illiterates in Nigeria hence let us not be too harsh on knowall, makay and their ilk as they do not have much formal education.
Nobody compared Zamfara State with Egypt u need to properly get yourself abreast with the issues at hand b4 shamelessly jumping in and taking sides. I would suggest u go and read that piece again.

I will put myself up for trial in Zamfara State OR any other state in Nigeria than succumb to a trial  in Egypt where a sit-tight no nonsense despot has been ruling with an iron fist for 20 years now and still counting  undecided , even  people like Al fayad of the famed Harrods are a pariah in their own country let alone a black muslim from Nigeria,

The tyrannical regime of Mr Mubarak is both the jury, the hangman, and the grave digger in most cases, only a nutter would put his faith in such a person OR a system.

Talking of where Yerima got his $100,000.00 from, I would also like you to ponder over where the following individuals got their money from.

1. IBB with that one in town mansion up the hill in Minna ?  On a General Salary I suppose.  huh

2. Madame Jonthan was apprehended with over $2million dollars in one of the Nigerian airports, the case has being buried I would like u to tell me where a house wife to a Governor got that money from.  lipsrsealed

3. James Ibori, why is he running from his own shadow if he has noting to hide.  undecided

4. Messers Odili- the man behind the scene and de-facto owner of Arik so I heard? lipsrsealed

5. What happened to the $16 Billion OBJ spent on electricity and yet the country is still wallowing in the darkness.  huh

6. Tinunbu whose company is collecting ¼ of all income that should be accrued to Lagos State. tongue

7. Or Mr action Governor Messers Fashola who seems to have a penchant of awarding all contracts in the state to just one individual. embarassed/size]\
   undecided

And many others I don’t want to mention here, if all these men can do wonders with the Tax payer’s fund without regrets or recourse to any higher authority why Yerima should be any different from a system he is a product of I don’t understand.  huh

Come to think of it $100,000 dollars is rather mundane compared to what some of the morally upright big hitters listed above are commandeering on a daily basis OR AM I missing something. Uhmmmmm undecided
Politics › A Case Of Boundary Adjustment On Lagos / Ogun / Oyo States And Others Suggestion by KnowAll(op): 8:26am On Jun 15, 2010
Lagos States is a viable state and needs more land for a proper harmonisation of its mega city profile, I believe all suburbia areas around from Isheri to Sagamu should be part of a new and larger Lagos State, also the Yewa division of Ogun State which includes Otta and Ifo should also be included in the new Lagos State.

The New Ogun State would be the Egba’s, the Ijebu’s, and the Oke Ogun area of Oyo state. Oke Ogun as the name implies is where the River Ogun has it source and includes towns like Iseyin and Shaki among others.

The remainder of Oyo State which includes Oyo, Ogbomosho and Ibadan division would remain as the new Oyo State.

Same can be applied to other states in the federation by merging areas of similarities together thereby reducing the number or better still maintaining the present state structure but with minor and major Border Adjustments here and there.

For instance Asaba and other Delta Igbo areas of Delta State can merge with Anambra State with the Capital moved from Akwa to Asaba OR vice versa.

What other suggestions do you have ladies and gentlemen as State creation on a serious note is not the answer,  our  Administrative cost has ballooned we should be cutting down our cumbersome bureaucracy, to be able to have any meaningful development.

Have your say shocked

Absolutely both f*****k*in**g GoatYerima and his supporters are seriously retarded thinking human. How can someone says Goatyerima or donkeyyerima is practising freedom of his religion what religion and where was that writtn in the so called religion? f****cking hypocrate.

They just love hidden under religion and do evil and unimaginable things but instead for them to wake up and tell the goatyerima what he did was wrong they will alway be so defensive even in terrorist act they will stil be defensive and look for a place in their holy book to justify it which is a big lie and not what the book said.
Even a Nincompoop like Idi amin never in the history of his tyranny despite all the despicable things he did for once hounded a lawyer for representing a criminal OR hoodlum. (Beaf take note and other simpletons on this forum)

But what do we have in Nairaland today in the year 2010 are some individuals worse than that buffoon from Kampala, to think there are people here running amok in Nigeria looking for people to bludgeoned to death over a trump up case without hearing the details OR allowing the case to go through its natural motions in the court Is disheartening to say the least.

The only way we can get rid of the abject poverty in Lagos State(alas Welcome to Lagos poverty )is for the creation of 2 states. The Population supports this theory.

Lagoon State would seek to recover all the land loss to the sea since the 1950’s to do so now when there are several areas in the mainland that needs the Government’s attention would be inconceivable
Politics › Re: Awolowo Had No Equal by KnowAll(m): 1:49pm On Jun 14, 2010
Do not force me to doubt the validity of the Awolowo’s so-called free educational program. Granted you can be a party member today and by tomorrow you are wearing a different party identity. I shall be hard pressed to believe that IPP founders were signatories at Owo on March 21, 1951 during the formation of AG and three months later in Ibadan forming another political party. It appears like all Yoruba people are unequaled magicians.

The crux of the matter was the IPP candidates contested the election under the platform of NCNC as IPP was not registered as a national political party. There were members of SL Akintola’s UPP who contested under the platform of AG. If S. O. Lanlehin and Akinloye were original founders at the AG as you would want us to believe, what stopped them from contesting election under the platform of AG?
But this rather un-connected insight into a labyrinth o f political parties springing up in the 1950’s, what has that got to do with the fact that AG, whether with a simple majority OR an overwhelming majority, the life changing and the generational impacting policy of free education was still inaugurated by Messer Awolowo and the Akinloye’s and the Adelakun’s of this world’s sons and daughters were also beneficiaries to this rear largesse from a politician to her subjects.

Your postulation here does not add or devalue the contribution of Awolowo, what one observes in you is a man with a deep interest in the politics of Western Nigeria by bringing in all these un-seen documents into the foreshore, perhaps u are pursuing a self fulfilling dissertation which is un-warranted to this discuss here but might help those who has made reading irrelevant docs a past-time worthy to indulge in.

I don’t see any connection between the  tirade u wrote up there and what Awo achieved OR better still did not achieve, OR, AM I, missing something.

So why have you been talking foolishly, or are just practicing idiocy? Let me inform you, in case your paedophile loving ways have obstructed healthy curiosity; you TOO are a criminal according to the child act. Read the following dufus, in the knowledge that you might go to jail (stupidity is no defense);
I am only supporting his right to practise his religion to the letter and to the tenants of  his religion. It would be wrong in the name of democracy to deny a part of the federation of Nigeria the right to practise their religion the way they deem fit.
This right is just like the 1st amendment of the USA Constitution which gives each an every citizen the right to bear arms, practise their religious belief the way they deem fit no matter how weird it might appear to the sedate mind.

If the Gentleman in question has not married in Abuja, he would be free as bird to do what his people have practised for 170 years.

The authority which you so vehemently support were  docile to say the least when an atrocities of such magnitude was committed under their noses, where were they, I bet some of your Towns men and women grace the occasion in Abuja.

. This laxity in upholding the law at the appropriate time rather than waiting for a public out cry by Jonathan who happens to come from your fisherman tribe makes a lot of Nigerians to begin to wonder whether he is really fit to be in that exulted office.

Yerima Quizzed Over Child Marriage - Granted Bail (18 May 2010)
Excepts;

Quote
On why he did not contract the marriage in Egypt, he said it was for the convenience of his family members and friends that he did the marriage in Nigeria, not because he was trying to beat the Egyptian law which frowns against marriage to a minor

Quote
NAPTIP Executive Secretary, Simon Egede, said his agency invited him following petitions from several bodies and concerned citizens against his marriage to a girl child.

Egede clarified that the investigation "is purely within our mandate having received petitions from so many interest groups.

"We are in touch with Egyptian authorities, we know it is illegal in Egypt and we do not need to get to Egypt before we get the age of the girl. In the federal capital there is a law against marriage to a minor and the law is no respecter of any person."

He said the NAPTIP will soon conclude the investigation and would let the whole world know what the issues are.

Ahmed was not detained because he "willingly turned himself in" Egede added.
In 2003, Nigeria signed the Child Right Act (CRA) into law, and Section 21 of it forbids the marriage or betrothal of a person under the age of 18, an offence which attracts a fine of N500,000 or five years in jail.

Egyptian law also pegs the minimum age of marriage at 18.

http://allafrica.com/stories/201005190470.html

Yerima will be presenting himself to National Agency for Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP) again on June 17 this month as part of his bail conditions. It is the duty of each and every one of us to press the authorities toward a thorough investigation into Yerima's abuse of children and a deserved conviction.
What u post is in tandem with good and acceptable practises all over the world , if a crime has being committed I support the full weight of the law to be unleashed. But on the other hand if it is really the tenants of his religion then he has committed no offence because Zamfara State has a law where strict adherence to the Islamic code is recognised.

I am aware he has committed a crime by solemnizing the marriage in an area under the secular laws of Nigeria( Abuja ), he should have being apprehended whilst this law was broken not after a public out cry.

It would appear the Nigerian authorities are not conversant with their own law, if u don’t know your own law how can u prosecute, negligence breeds all kinds of unruly behaviour, those who say Nigeria is a failed states cannot be further from the truth.  undecided

To all those saying  Federal laws can override State’s law,  was Sharia law not introduced under the very nose and auspices of OBJ. Just for argument sake u dunces lets assume it is possible to overturn a state law,  gather your thoughts well b4 u come on a forum like this, have u forgotten that the same people that would over-rule the State’s law are representative of 3/4 OR more States that have a huge Muslim constituents, it is like saying Yerima would over-rule and overturn a law he created in his own state.

There are so many radical Islamic Reps and Senators in the house of assembly that the thought of over-turning such distasteful law that borders ON religion is an exercise in futility, such move would be repelled even b4 the motion is muted.

Before our very own eyes Dimeji Bankole a Southern Muslim and a Yoruba man is using the religious card to garner support from the Northern Reps men knowing that when it comes to religious matters the house is highly polarized and would jump on a bandwagon of any inkling of persecution of one of theirs, this is a democracy and it is a game of numbers and not a game of wiped up emotions and sentiments.

For anyone to come out in a public forum like this and say federal laws can overides state laws is making a mockery of the whole echos of federalism and is living a fools paradise with a hangover of dictatorial colonization which Nigerians have being subjected to for over a decade now.

The residual of such hangover are large swathe of men and women who are dunces who does not know their left from their right, scuh people have being militarized in their thoughts and in their actions such that reason becomes an ardious and incomprehensive task, these zombies are what we have as our intelligentsia today. A mob mentality is rife amongst our youths today and beaf is the Chief Hangman huh

Because we have had a long series of rogue military regimes over the past 25 years, the Federal structures and its apparatus including its uniqueness and blend has being eroded over time. There are 3 list of power segregation in a federal system, 1. IS THE CONCURRENT LIST- THIS ARE ITEMS BOTH THE STATES AND THE FEDS HAVE JURISPENDENCE OVER AND THEY WORK PARRALLEL TO EACH OTHER NO ONE AUTHORITY IS ABOVE THE OTHER.

There is a Residual list - the states has full autonomy on items on this list, religious inhibitions, customs and conventions come under this Law, No Federal law can over rule the sharia laws in operation  in the 9 states that are practising it. That is why OBJ was dumb founded when those states went ahead in adopting this legal code rather than the secular code we are use to in the south.

There is the exclusive list where the feds have supremacy of all items on the list, they include defence, police in nigeria, foreign affairs and internal affairs which covers prisons, Immigration and customs. In other climes states have police and prisons under their jurisdiction.

I REPEAT THE MAN HAS A RIGHT TO SIT IN THE SENATE AND TO ABSTAIN ON LAWS WHICH ARE CONTRARY TO HIS RELIGIOUS BELEIFS AND CUSTOMS. THIS RIGHT IS GURANTEED IN EVERY DEMOCRACY IN THE WORLD AND NIGERIA WOULD NOT BE AN EXCEPTION.

@poster, d issue isnt abt divorce, bt why must he married an under age girl, which i am very sure, is against d will of d girl. His act is morally wrong.

Under age marriage is not a sin according to Islamic teachings. His people have being pratising this weired sounding matrimony for 170 years, Who are we to question a man who has chosen to follow the tenents of his religion to the letter knowing his reverred prohet in no other person than Mohammed did the same thing to a 9 year old.

The fact remains today most mordern muslim have shied away from this old practise but some die hard we rather follow the teachings of the quoran word for word and letter to letter. This is a right the Mordern state of Nigeria cannot deny a people who have en-powered their reps to re-open and a revisit. We practise a democracy and we should adhere to the tenents of democracy.

Being a Senator does not prevent us from finding out who this guy really is - a paedophile. The act is inate and entrenched in him hence this consistent behaviour of not only despoiling but sexually and psychologically damaging these very young girls for his own evil gratifications. To me, his status as a Senator, is just a mask to cover up his wickedness on young women and I wonder, what might have been the experiences of young girls near where he lives/state that led him into going as far off a foreign land to seek out another innocent child for abuse.  Wait, your day shall come!!!!

The sad thing is that after he has taken their purity, he discard them via divorce.  And I ask, where now is the young woman he took before the one in question - gone home to her Mama/Papa, eh? You see, this sadist must be stopped and if we don't, it won't be long his current catch would be discarded and he'll be back on it again - watch this space!

It would be nice to make an example of him so that others like him who are lying low right now, waiting and watching the events/reactions in the country on this matter, learn their very own lessons.
Therefore, NBA I support you in every aspect and, urge you not to relent on this matter until this sadist smells his own blood. Angry Angry Angry Angry
As u are a woman I can understand your emotional attachment to this unsual behaviour, but there is no law that stops a man from marrying and divorcing a 1000 times. We need to be less sentimental and be more objective ON issues like this. Your anger and discontent is meaningless b4 the law.

In Egypt, Yerima's action is a crime. And Egypt is almost 100% Muslim, please, this has NOTHING to do with religion.

The constitution is over and above any Nigerian tradition or practice. For example, human sacrifice was allowed in several societies, but today it is rightly condemned as barbaric. Marriage to children falls into the same category; lets not forget that Yerima "divorced" a 15 year old to make way for a 13 year old.
There might be grandmothers who aren't complaining, but the fact is that there is a huge educational gap and we owe it as a duty to enlighten those who see no wrong in such practices. A girl at 13, should be in school and is still very much a child, both physically and emotionally.

There is nothing more dangerous than questioning the constitution for religious reasons, otherwise, the likes of Helen Ukpabio too would be able to tell you that she is right to toture "child witches", because her faith permits it. It is the duty of each and every one of us to obey the law. Above and beyond that, it falls on each and every one of us to show love to our fellow humans and save every last one of our children.
The Geographical enitity called Nigeria cannot banish a traditional and an Islamic practise dated to 1830's after the submission of the local populace to the muslim faith. The Mordern day state of Zamfara is practising western styled democracy, even the Egyptian nation you so confidently mentioned in your peice has one of the most draconian laws and the last surviving African dictator who has refused to subcumb to the forces of reason let alone democracy in his own country. I am afraid Zamfara has a much more advanced political system in placed than Egypt even though they may be light years away from the kind of development that Eghypt has accomplished.

Democracy is the yard stick the western world uses to measure the civility of a nation, the people chose a sharia doctrine whole heartedly without mincing OR Subjecting the interpretation to mordern day emmotions or balckmail. Why do we have a problem with that.

The man can contribute to laws that are in agreement with his constituents in the senate and abstain from so called secular state bills. Why do we have a problem with that.

Helen Ukpabio as u spelt out in your peice toture the kids, toturing the world over is an offence punishable by a jail term. That cannot be compared with the act of sexual intercourse between a man and his wife irrespective of age.  undecided

The problems of SGBN were political rather than business-related. In 2003 SGBN was barred from the clearing floor because it overdrew its balance at the CBN. Even according to a CBN press release at the time, the incidence of a bank overdrawing its account is not new - it occurs regularly during clearing house operations. In fact CBN can legally provide overdraft accommodation to any bank that overdraws its account. If SGBN had not been barred from the clearing floor it would not have had all the problems it had.

At any rate, SGBN has several shareholders, and it is a bit odd for people to talk as if its problems and solutions are their personal responsibility. No distressed bank in the country has worked harder than SGBN to revive its operations - not Savannah Bank, Triumph Bank, Fortune Bank, or any host of others. SGBN merely fell foul of the politics of the day - and that is not the first time we will see that in Nigeria.
I would not call using 17 bullion trucks to move money out of SOC General in the dead of the night an accidental over spend by the bank. That sounds more like a well planned and rehearsed Robbery Invsaion squad.

I think this topic is childish and imature, HOME is wherever u are comfortable and it changes from year to year, today England might be your home and 18 months time Nigeria might be your home, why in the name of God would I think I am better than the person in Nigeria or Engalnd when in less than 12 months, I might have a role reversal.

Even in the golden hey days of Udoji awards there were Nigerians living and working in England, one would have thought since the lowest paid goverment worker in Nigeria was paid more than the lowest paid in Britain and America there would have being a stampede of Nigerians trooping home, but alas that was not the case, so where u live is relative and changes as events and pecularities unravel itself in our lives.

There is a lynch mob mentality in this forum on issues that does not conform to acceptable norms and standard. The way to deal with such sensitive issues that are foreign to many of us is to seek proper interpretation of the law and the position of the law. Putting the innocent on a stick ready to roast them alive because they have a view that is contrary to ours smacks of the ancient bloodletting of marauding barbarians,  are we in anyway better than the man that married a 13 year old bride with that kind of behaiviour, A man who is only following the wordings and tenents of his religion to the letter.

If you belong to that dumb association called Nigerian Bar ASSOCIATION, I suggest you and your hollow headed comrades use more of their oblongota b4 inssueing poorly and emotional charged statement in future, statements which an untrained illetrate trader can easily pick holes from.

It does not do our country any justice that Nigeria Bar ASSOCIATION are part of this Mob who is about to lynch a man to death because of his religious pecularity.

@Mistakey u are going about this argument the wrong way, an emotional charged argument for an equally emotional charged respondents who are baised from the on-set.

We must understand the position of the law rather than overwhelming ourselves with the emotionality of what happened. Nigeria Bar Association did not do their home work well b4 issueing that statement, their statement is full of hoalers which a secondary school kid doing social sciences will not make.

1)  Yerima's constiunency is a 99% muslim constituency and they sent him to the Senate with the Understanding that he would protect their God giving Islamic rights. According to the muslim holy book it is ok and acceptable to marry a 13 year old as a bride, even Mohammed had a 9 year old. Thank God that  is not the issue here. The issue is the Federalism Nigeria practices,  the Senate cannot overule laws passed by State's House of Assembly the whole essence of Fedralism is for prompt, concise delegation and divulging of the power structures to the federating units without the centre appearing to be un-necessary over-bearing OR lording it over the States.

2) As a Senator Yerima is accused of sitting in the hallowed chambers making laws for the nation, how can he be making laws when he is clearly dis-obeying a federal law which recognises the age of consent to be 18years. The Federal law can be overided by the State Law, since the issue in question has a strong regional undertone. It would be wrong and inconcevable for a reps from Akwa Ibom and Ebonyi State to make and overule what a particular section of the country has being accustomed to in the name of one Nigeria, that is not democracy but dictatorship.

The local people of Zamfara State are happy if it comes to matters regarding secular religious matters their reps if in any dis-agreement can exercise his right to abstain. I see Senators and House men In the UK and USA on items they do not agree on Abstaining why is this Universal right a problem in Nigeria. Our constitution does not say explicitly that a senator cannot abstain so why the hullabaloo and commotion.

3) For any Bill to become law 2/3 OR Sometimes a simply majority is required. Assuming if out of 106 senators in the Hallowed Chambers want to pass a highly sensitive bill, and 10 islamist Senators choose or exercise their right to abstain have they done something contrary to the Constitution, I think I beg to differ on this and Nigeria Bar Associtaion should be cautious b4 giving out comminiques that cannot stand simple validity test. Their statement is full of follies and for one to think this is Nigeria's premier body for lawyers making us all look like a bunch dimwits, a nation of dullards is an unacceptable utterances which should withdrawn without much ado.

B4 We can take Saraki serious let him tell Nigerians what happened to their money IN Societal Generale.

Building a bridge in Ilorin and bringing some White Zimbabwe Farmers to Kwara would not exonerate him from what is and should be seen as a callaous dare devil and brazen robbery not any different from what those hoodlums in Aba are doing to that City.

I think it is high time the CBN and Jonathan re-visit this case, maybe the time has come to deport these Malians(Courtesy of his Father) back to where they came from. Their antecedents in Nigeria is bordering on sacrilege.
Politics › Re: Govt And Private Oil Companies Should Relocate From Lagos To Nigerdelta by KnowAll(m): 11:37am On Jun 13, 2010
For more than 30 to 40 years, The decision makers of the Oil producing majors decided that they would operate the Oil industry out of Lagos, and some people attribute this to the recent militant activities??

Like I said I work in the Oil industry, so I know what injustices I am talking about, I know what injustises we NDs suffer in the hands of yorubas every blessed day.

When I talk of relocating from Lagos to ND, I am not refering to head offices, I am refering to operational aspects of the business, let me give an example

Chevron based on Lekki express way, operates escravos fields, all engineering, operational decisions, contracting, designs, recruitment take place in Lagos, This is the set up long before the militancy issue. Those at the helm of affairs in Chevron are yoruba, so they strategically position chevron there knowing fully well that they are denying the ND of these benefits, The same goes for snepco, Mobil, schlumberger,
The most painfull aspect is recruitments, for a long time they were done in Lagos, I served in PH in the late 90's and I observed that while we were hustling for job spaces in PH, the Oil companies were recruiting young yoruba youth from Lagos.

I suggest that Goodluck start by moving Napims to Yenegoa or warri, I don't see what they are doing in Lagos?then allow 2 or 3 yrs for the private Oil companies to move fully because thats the normal way thing should be,

I have said be that if the economy of cocoa was being controlled from kaduna during the cocoa era, how would you people supporting the present status quo feel.

Truely we need to hold the Govt of the ND responsible as do all states, and when we start the first questions we will ask is where are the Oil companies operating? If you are governor of a state and you want to boast your economy do you allow small and medium scale industries selected in Lagos, being taxed in Lagos execute all the contrats in your state? You need to be in control of your resourses, your citizens need to be empowered, and the first steps is using what you have to get what you want,

I have given example of UK (London and Aberdeen)(NY and Texas)
The oil companies do not operate the scotish oil field out of london, nor NY, only in LAGOS NIGERIA do we have such.
I am not a Lagos hater, i don't care weather they are the best or worst in the world, I just want control of the resource I am blessed with. Is that asking too much?? How does that amount for asking for lagos to fall or fail??

Again I ask the question, if coal is being mined in enugu and all economic decisions affecting coal are being ocstrated from sokoto, how does that sound to you? does it sound right?

ND pple need to be in control of every aspect of this resourse, from exploration, production, transportation, small and meduim scale set up etc, this does not mean other nigerian will not be engaged but Nigerdeltans should have right of first refusal. The reason? They are blessed with the resourses

To ask them to ignore that resourse and engage in other developmental programs is total foul because that resourse will form the bedrock of any developmental programs,
One right every citizen of the world would not compromise whether they are black, white, chinese, India OR even Naija is the right to life, I feel your pain, but the idea and thought that some craze youth high on "Marijuana" with the added confidence booster of a Kalashinikov on the other hand can snuff the life out of a living being within a second depending on his irritation OR his demeanour at the time is not everyone's idea of fun OR safe working enviroment.

This scenerio is not a hearsay, WHY would any sane human being want to give up this right to life for some Political Correctness. Mr man u must come to terms with your perils as the only way u can dig yourself out of that rut is for the designated Governors in those areas to start spending the money accrued to them wisely.

The Governors have to create an enabling enviroment so as to attract foreign investors, it does not help when the rumour mills are rife with rumours that Rotimi Amechi is building a refinery in Ghana, if there is any truth in this assertion, then I think the final blow to the dearth and the subsequent rut in the Niger Delta has being signed and sealed by the 5 Chief Security Officers who happen to be the 5 Governors.

This Gentlemen holds the key to any progress in the ND. They are paid 13% more than everyone else, focus and a big search lights should be beamed on their activities.
Politics › Re: Awolowo Had No Equal by KnowAll(m): 10:24am On Jun 13, 2010
To the Gentleman who keeps on bringing up my reverred Uncle Gani into a discuss that involves Awolowo, a human right activist is diffrent from a Politician. To those who believe in re-carnation if Gani comes back to this life a hundred times he would still pursue the career he is well known for,  a lawyer and a Human right activist. Meanwhile if Awolowo comes back a 1000 times he would come back as a Politician . These two individuals are poles apart and comparing them to each other is tantanmount to a total loss of focus of the subject matter, I see it as an individual adventure pursueing an uninspired desertation into the unkonwn, a task or exercise that would be of a great value and contribution to Gani's biography but would be out of place in the poltical hotbed of Western Nigerian politics.

Whilst Gani can affect a few hundreds or probably a few thousand's lives fighting for their rights in the courts and in return recieve good judgement overturning court rulings against his clients which is commendable,  the wholesome effect of a positive and effective Politician is overwhelming,  Gani himself is a product of Awolowo's free education, why would anyone think Gani in his infinite wisdom would want to bite the hand that fed him.

Had it being we had an in-effective leader in the West, people like Gani might not be the celebrated legal luminary we all know today. We should learn to give credit where credit is due. Awolowo with his free education touched the lives of millions, which would in turn touched the lives of multi-millions of people born and un-born,  which would also finally touch the lives of billions in the years and the genations to come.

A positive Education start-up goes a long way in educating one's immediate family who in turn recipocate with the same token to generations yet to be born. It would appear the contribution of Awolowo is an on-going process (Work In Progrss) passing from one generation to the other, this feat to say the least is incompareable in the annals of Nigerian history.

For ANYONE to have a divergent or a contrary view to this position,  is to deliberately choose to dwell and wallow in the bowels of insubordination, syscophancy and irrelevancy, an insition OR quest I would not bestow on my arch enemies let alone to some of the few bright sparks on this forum. For those who have contributed untelligible to this discuss u are forgiving for not seeing the larger than life picture your ignorance might not be tolerated next time if it becomes clear u are a repeat offender.  huh
Politics › Re: Which Other State Should Be Created In Southeast? by KnowAll(m): 9:03am On Jun 13, 2010
Agege State from Lagos would comprise all Lagos Mainland including Ikeja and Badagry and Ikorodu. Badagry OR Ikorodu should be made Capital to spread development over a vast area.

The new Lagos State which would include Lagos Island, Ikoyi, VI and Lekki Coridor to Epe including Epe Town at the moment this part of Lagos takes 75% of all capital expenses. That is why Lagos State has a loop sided development. Within Lagos one can see both opulence and the most obsene abject poverty in the whole world. The only way to address this problem is to divide the states into 2. Just because it has the smallest land mass must not be a reason why the State should be left untouched.

Lagos State has being the only State that has not being sub-divided into 2 states since its creation in 1967.

Lagos State as a smaller state would be be able to concentrate on its ambitious projects like Lekki free trade zone and Eko Atlantic City without thinking much of fixing a pot-hole in far away Agege. The Capital of the new Lagos State should be around Lekki Free trade Zone.

The office of the Mayor should also be created in Abuja, the Mayour would be elected every 4 years. The current system of ministerial appointments is a sham, proper representation should be instilled after all we have democracy now.

Clearly this gentleman appears to be the type that enjoys going to a beer parlour have a few and engaged in a brawl afterwards. He is free to live his life like a bird from now henceforth, he can have all the brawls in the world, but must always make sure he is not at the receiving end of such encounters, the last thing I would want for him is he losing his left eye like that unfortunate guy from Oshun state.

Only a fool would knowingly throw their money down the drain. Funds that are meant for operational expansion would be spent on some rag-tag hoodlums who because they own or have access to a Khalshinikov would make life for anything that looks caucasian be it Indian, Philipino OR Chinese a mayhem and not a bed of Roses.

To them the salivating prospect of grasping these men with straight hair would be one bounty hunt that would be too irresistable to ignore. The fact that they get a stipen of N65,000.00 from the FG would not deter them from making an extra fistfull of dollars after all their benovolent masters in Abuja does not see anything wrong in clamouring for an increase in salary having already broken the world record as the highest paid legislators in the world.  undecided

To these boys the earlier the cash cow called oil conglomerate relocates to the delta the better for all, things for sometime now has being at a low ebb.The women of easy virtue have never had it so bad, so are the other miscreants and scumbags, thank God they Mend, tompolo boys and the others are seen as freedom fighters, double thank God for the compensation from Abuja, but then 4ork it these straight haired men are easy money. huh
