I am not of the mind that Jonathan himself is any different from this man. Matter of fact, I wait to be proven wrong by him. I do have a problem with you trying to sell this man to us as some maverick who deserves the post of VP, when you now admit he really does not have a record to prove him one.I think he is one of the best in Northern Nigeria by a milestone. Bukola Saraki comes a distant 2nd and he is motivated by political ambitions rather than good governance. |
Oh please!!! We just had a dreamer( though some of his dreams were warped at best) die as president. Why in the world would we want more dreamers and not doers? We want substance, not TALKERS.Is Jonthan any better than this gentlman. What was Jonathans legacy in Bayelsa. If u want to go down that road all 35 Governors have being a collosal failure except Fashola who one would award a mere 50% performance wise. The rest would be struggling to get 35%. But then the convention so far in Nigeria has being the Governors will provide from amongst her ranks individuals who would occupy the Presidency and VP positions, |
Not totally true. He lacks sustainability. Some of the project he started could not be continue. Dumb up for him when it comes to security.Well I can see u live in Kaduna and you are better placed in judging him. But one thing one should not take away from him is, because of his architect backround he is an individual who can conceptualize inspirational ideas if resources are not a hindrance, that alone is a good quality after all what was his boss legacy in Bayelsa State yet people are giving him all the recent credit for the usurp and regular supply of elctricity. |
He is an architect, so the images are expected. How much of the transformation has really happened? The images you have there are over a year old. What has transpired in all that time? You should be asking, how much does Kaduna recieve from the FG. At least if you go through the thread, despite the meagre amount he gets from the FG, u can see semblance of actual development on the ground, for instance the dual carriege road leading to the new city has already being constructed. There is now a local train service running from the suburbs of Kaduna to the centre, he reinstated this service a few months after becoming the governor of Kaduna State. At least this is a man who knows his onions if anything else. |
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-222281.0.html SAMBO is a Visonary, I hope he transfer his foresight for Kaduna State to the National stage. Sambo is the Fashola of the North. |
5 million passengers go through MMIA every year that gives us a figure of 15000. that is the daily inflow outflow through the airport. The airport only has runway and this is riddled with pot holes, Even a fool knows people like Yuguda, Bukola Saraki, and a few other political associates and stalwarts travelled uncountable times to Saudi Arabia when our dear President was ill in that country. Common Sense should have made you know the 15 million figure relates to the so called 350,000 wealthy travellers doing the same journey a zillion times a year. The 17.5 million damned souls are there on the ground enmeshed in their miserable lives enduring the pains of slavery and servitude from Lagos EMPLOYERS. I had tears in my eyes when a lady I know narrated her harrowing experience from one Lagos employer. This Hotel owner somewhere in Ikeja sleeps with all his female staffs promising them he would buy them a car b4 committing the shameless act, only for him abandoning them to their own miserable lives after getting what he wanted and to top it up he only pays them N5000.00 a month. This is not an isolated case of slavery in Nigeria, it abounds all over Lagos and Nigeria. It is estimated Nigerians in diasporas are 10 million, if 10 million people can leave the shores of our country since the mid 1980’s with visa restriction and other hurdles on the way, what stops poor, dirt, Nigerians, without a dollar to their name going to Lagos without any visa restrictions, the figure of those living a life of abject poverty and penury in Lagos is un-imaginable, 17.5 million is a conservative estimate, use your F***king brains man. You people yourself and Babapupa, your warp and stup*d reason behind this misadventure of a project is because the Fashola Government cannot negotiate with the federal authorities to make MMAI workable and better, yet the same incommunicado regime OF Fashola would now go cap in hand and beg the Fed Authorities to release their Customs, Immigration and NDLEA Officials so that Tinunbu can have a free ride with his drug enterprise. Your arguments are all over the place and lacks sincerity and any credibility |
At times we should go for the Jugular, and do something never done before, in fact it has being done b4, Gowon became Head of State at the age of 28. I remember he got married as a head of State. The first and only head of State to ever marry on the post. If we can survive that difficult period knowing Gowon was not a graduate, but yet won a war and united a divided country, then I see no problem with Ribadu getting the VP Job. I believe he would excel both as VP and President. We should begin to trust our youths, especially this time like no other time in our history is the best time to go for it. Go for it Jonathan and you would not only be a God Father to a young President, the corridors of power would be your oyster and at your beckoning OR better still u Jonathan can hold on to the job either way, it would be a blessing for Nigeria. |
No point arguing with you, I am almost sure you do not have any formof higher education, you are not coherent, your online manners leave a lot to be desired and your arguments never brings out any facts or detailed info. I asked you a straight question which you have refused to reply, where did you get your figures about 17.5 million destitute and peasants, youoffer no response, it seems sometimes you just like hearing the sound of your own voice, personally i just think you are a f*****g idiot!!!! best not argue with a fool, for a bystander would not know the difference, You might be Tinubu or one of his associates or cronies for all we care, but your backdoor or covert plan through a phantom Airport Project to flood Lagos with illegal substance has being botched, and I make sure I hunt your type into oblivion than to see my country overwhelmed with substance abuse, already we have enough Armed robbers to contend with. Show me your friend and we know who you are, Nigerians already know who Tinubu is, a leopard they say cannot hide his spot for too long. As per the 17. 5 million peasants and destitute that are hibernating in Lagos that is there for the whole world to see, Lagos a city of 300,000 in 1953 with a net migration of 600,000 a year since 1985 when the Nigeria economy failed, u do the maths, u have to remember that these new migrants are not necessarily wealthy migrants they are men and women who think the streets of Lagos are paved with Gold. They got to Lagos and got stuck and end up living in the most un-imaginable places on earth, from refuse dumps to swampy shorelines in Ebute-metta, to the one and only AJ City the biggest slum in the whole of West Africa and u are asking me where does my figure come from. Even a blind man can see all the abject poverty all around you. I did a simple test the other day, the first 10 cars that drove past me in one of the poorest neighbourhood in Britain; I checked their number plate, they were 07, 08 and 09 cars. I did the same thing in Lagos and they were all old relics from a bygone era. The minimum rate in the UK is £5.50 an hour, in a City like Bradford which can be compared to a city like Ikorodu, they have an Airport, one would be tempted to ask why do they have an Airport, the answer is simple, during the holiday season even the lowest paid worker can fly to Spain on a package holiday for one week, can u imagine a city of 60,000 people where 20,000 to 30,000 people travels regularly. I read somewhere Jonathan has just approved the minimum wage for Fed Civil Servants from N7,000.00 to N18,000.00 a month only God knows what State Civil Servants get not to talk of Individuals in the private sector. There is a host of underpaid workers who get N6,000.00 a month in Lagos, If Lagos OR even, Nigeria has a strong middle class, a city the size of Lagos should have at least 4 or 5 Airports like London but because Lagos is a heaven of obscene poverty even that one Airport is grossly under-utilised. I would be at the forefront clamouring for a second, even 3rd or 4th airport for Lagos when the lot of hard working Nigerians improve. At the moment the millions on N6,000.00 a month in Lagos would rather get a double salary than go to a new Airport and take up the very rare in Nigeria the relaxing sport of Plane spotting, a sport people who have no worries in the world indulge in. |
This thread should be deleted Mr Moderator, we don’t want those military boys having some stup*d ideas. But then I thought Jonathan was meant to commence an official tour of Rivers State today, presumably that has being cancelled, I take it. |
Lagos state would employ NDLEA officers and immigration officers officers manning the airport. It does not mean that once an agency is centralized resources from there cannot be allocated to the state government.es The Feds would have shot themselves in the foot if they go down that way, allowing Lagos State to absorb their Customs, Immigration and NDLEA Officers with Tinubu’s wealth, power, Influence and past criminal association, only a fool would know such officials would not only look the other way when a trailer load of special delivery is sanctioned by Messers Tinunbu the same law enforcement Agents would assist in helping him unload his consignment of death. The Ibori debacle in Delta State should serve as a reminder and a lesson never entrust any Federal Officials in the hands of Local Politicians because they would be de-spoiled beyond redemption. |
Olodo buruku, 18 million people are small in numbers right?Out of this 18 so called million people, there are 17.5 million destitute and peasants who would be scraping the crumbs from the 250,000 who would be using the Airport from Lagos State. The break-down of the 500,000 that would be using the airport is as follows, it would constitute of about 200,000 from Ikoyi, VI and Lekki corridor and another small pockets from the mainland with the rest coming from the 35 other States of Nigeria and the FCT. Not to forget the 100,000 who would be buying a one-way ticket out of Nigeria. Secondly, does Lagos State hope to have her own Customs officers, her own Immigration Officers and her own NDLEA Officers manning the Airport? Don’t tell me they would seek concession from the Feds, I thought Lagos State and the Feds are at a war-path , why should even the Feds approve this project that has the finger print of a man associated with a drug burst in Chicago a few years ago. The information is in the public domain that Tinubu forfeited in excess of $400,000.00 to safe his neck, One thing is clear if that Airport comes to fruition, it would be a den for heavy drug trafficking in fact the word drug- trafficking would become obsolete and out of fashion. A new word unheard off would be coined which would take a life of its own from the sheer volume and quantity of Drugs imported, processed and exported. The word DRUG-HAULAGING would be a new lexicon we would have to contend with if this dire project materialises, no doubt thus a lot of poor mules from the slums of Lagos would be gainfully employed in this trade which would turn a destitute into a landlord in a twinkle of an eye and send some unfortunate ones 6 feet under if turf war is their calling, either way they would still be gainfully employed and on that note I support the Airport. ![]() |
Maybe it is time for us Igbos and Yorubas to unite. This is not a tribalistic post, but it is high time that we start working together for a more progressive Nigeria. It is time the whole Southerners and some Middle Belt states work together, any President who is not pulling his weight be it Northerner or Southerner bloc votes can help in instituting impeachment proceedings and that President would either buckle up or face the wrath of the law makers. Bloc votes should also be in place well b4 the elections, whereby 25 to 30 States out of the supposedly 46 States would go one way come rain or sunshine, these states can and should be seen to be able to muzzle and throw their weight around to the benefit for all. The reason why the USA or UK have an enduring democracy is because large swathe of regions in the geo-political map of these countries are either Blue (Conservative, or Republican) OR Red (Labour or Democrats) there are times traditional Conservatives or Republicans would protest their vote, it is then you see them voting Yellow (in the case of UK Libra Democrats OR in the USA vote Red the Democrats-the Obama phenomenon after the Bad years of George Bush ) I Believe the Yoruba’s, Igbo’s and the SS minorities should work together at all times to move the country forward. That is where endorsement comes into it, and not just any endorsement, an endorsement that has teeth and is made of steel. The way forward for endorsement (the Nigerian way ) would be through a new sought after conference which would hold every 4 years in the mode of a National Convention, the Traditional Kings would deliberate for a few days and their spokesman would come out with a communiqué on where the pendulum would swing. It does not necessarily mean that bloc votes would always carry the day as voters are independent and can vote for who ever they want to, but the mere size of such a bloc would make every word said by their spokesman both by the print and the electronic media to be like decree and are irreversible. The Good thing about such bloc votes individual Traditional Rulers can hide under the cloak of anonymity as the current executives in their various respective states would not know where their loyalties lie but the communiqué when released is bounding on all members loyalty is absolute adhered to rigidly. One for all, and all for one should be the mantra. |
@Babapupa There is no cargo facilities at MMA to serve an entity like the LFTZ and I hope you're not suggesting that the state spend money to upgrade a federal facility. Or are you just saying that, instead of spending that money to build your own, go and spend it to fix other people's airport. You are not making any senseMr Man your arguments are spurious, hollow, it lacks substance and credibility. Just because the Fashola Administration cannot engage their Federal Counterparts in the simply act of tact and diplomacy in resolving minor issues regarding MMA, does not make it right for Lagos State in her infinite wisdom to think it wise that building her own Airport is the most commendable and appropiate step to take, such thinking is not only amateurish in nature but an outright no-brainer. It is remescent to killing a fly with a sledge hammer instead of using more subtle and tested methods, diplomacy the world over has worked wonders from the begining of time and remains the best tool in any civil society in resolving logjams and un-necessary dispute especially when it involves constitute parts that are not at war, the disagreement is a civil matter and should be settled as such, I can't remember the Feds and Lagos State declaring an open warfare on each other, am I missing something here, can someone please remind me when this irredeemable conflict started. I thought Fashola had a bunch of thinking mandarins around him, who are smart enough to point him in the right direction not knowing a street urchin mentality rules the roost in that house of cards. I read somewhere the 3rd Mainland bridge is swaying perharps Fashola should embark on building a 5th mainland Bridge running parrallel to the 3rd Mainland Bridge since the Feds are turning a blind eye to their responsibility of what can be acclaimed to be a more dangrous and alarming sitiuation. The Airport remains a white-elephant project and should be seen as such, a classical showcase of man's ignoramus and buffoonery in Project Management, not suprise it is mostly in Africa that such mirage's happen. ![]() |
Let us examine Ibori's thievery of Delts State's Commonwealth. What we should be harping on about is the total decimation of the State Structure and embrace Mayoralty or Provincial head. During the eight years of Ibori's Governorship I am not sure how much he got including 13% derivatives, lets assume $3 billion dollars was accrued to Delta State this money is meant for the constitute towns and villages of Delta State. In a Mayoralty or Provincial head system the money would be aggregated equally amongst the constitute parts for example 1) Asaba Province - $300 million 2) Warri Province -$300 million 3) Sapele Province-$300 million 4) Oghara Province -$300 million, 5) Ughelli Province -$300 million, 6) Ugwa-ushuku Province-$300 million and other areas the balance. Ibori as the Mayor of Oghara or the Provincial Head of Oghara would only be able to squander, embezzle, or mis-appropiate Oghara's money. If the Oghara youths go to neigbouring towns and they see how the Mayors or Provincial heads of these towns spent their own money, they would not be accommodating towards James Ibori as they were when the EFCC was looking for him. The Present system allows hoodlums like James Ibori to rob from peter, paul and james to give to Oghara. Today Oghara Town has a dual carriage roads and stree light all over the place to the detriment of some other forgotten backwater. Statism is killing Nigeria and it is a poison chalace that we should do well without, already it has turned our nation into a nation of penury. Advantages of the Mayoralty or Provincial System 1. Each Town would have a Town Hall where the mayour sits with about 10 aides who assist in running the Town. There should be Legislative Concil of about 12 members voted into that chamber from the 12 wards in the town. 2. Town University 3. Town Library 4. Town Hospital 5. Town Radio and TV Stations 6. Town Chamber of Commerce. 7. Town Municipal Bus Service 8. Town Secondary Schools and Primary School Board. E.t.c All these individual units would lead to more grass-root employement for the youths of each and every Town. Why should anyone be heading to some foreign state Capital for employement. In fact a healthy inter town rivarlry would help in spurring development to a new admirable height. |
That house is in turnmoil, I am suprise son-inlaw, Yuguda has not started trading blows with madame Turai. ![]() |
@knowlittleYou would need to go and read the article I wrote again. States in the Nigerian Lexicon are glorified Provinces, they are not States in the true sense of it. That is why they do not have State Police and are always waiting for grants and hand-outs from Abuja. Obviously with this new fact established the country is serioulsy underming her own development when in the past we had close to 65 Provinces and today we have only 36 states, we are definately hampering our own development. All what needs to be done is, if we have as many as 65 States which are glorified Provinces anyway is each State or Provinces would cut down on her administrative excesses, they don't need to have 20 commisioners or ministry or 25 State House of Assemby members that should be cut to the bearest minimum. |
The Fedral Govement should establish an Islamic Cental Bank Governor who would over-see the regulation of Islamic Banks in Nigeria. Sanusi fits the bill to be the first Govenor of such an institution, if Sanusi likes he can pass an edict where Bankers arms would be chopped off in the event they give out too many loans without adequate collateral. The rest of Sane or Secular Nigeria can have a proper Central Bank Governor who would discharged his duty honourably without Soludo's lackadiscal attitude or Sanusi's Fundermentalism |
Funding massive Infrastructure Developments in Nigeria That is why the House of Reps is re-visting the issue of further State Creation, I have said every single one of those Province we had in the 1950's and the 1960's should be a State. The word State in Nigeria is not Synomynous with the word " State in the USA " the word state in Nigeria speak is a nomenclature for Provinces, by not giving it is proper name we are actually short-changing the Nigerian people, by having less State than Provinces we have not only curtailed our grassroot development we have arrested it. It is time we rectify this anomaly and embrace the development strides of the late 1950's and early 1960's. Some people migth argue that it was because we had strong regional goverments for the supersonic developmental experinece we had in all regions, I beg to differ, what we had then was strong Local Goverment Structure. It would have being a Herculean task and inconceavable for Awolowo to Know what was happening down at the Ethiope Rivers from Ibadan if it was not for the strong district head and Provincial Head. |
Can't believe people still type this rubbish, especially when the lagos rail system is under construction as we speak. In a forum like this, one should expect all sorts of contribution, though he is entitled to his, anyway. The thread is not about Light Railways, it is about unwarranted, egoistic and money miss-road white elephant Airport project. Having said that the light Railway remains a phantom until it is operational and funtional. |
What happens to the APGA or is it UPGA Presidential Candidate OR are they planning not to field anyone during the elections next year. This is a case of a referee celebrating a goal with one of the 2 teams playing a soccer match. |
The Governors are not performing because it has become almost like a birth-right they win 2nd term elections. What Jonathan should do is make votes count. If votes count, there would be shock results from every nook and crany of Nigeria. It is better than the coronation we have at the moment. Jonathan himself must be prepared to conced to defeat if he runs for the Presidency. |
u are right about everything and i agree with you completely on everything you have typed. Most especially when you said and i quote " The intresting thing about Fashola he is a dreamer and a convolated visionary, where he failed persisitently is, he has yet to commute the glam of the drawing board to reality on the ground. No mind d Fashola him mouth sweet, if hin dey talk 4 tv or on radio or news paper u go tink say hin be one genuine man and hin go transform Lagos into a better place instantly, and na dis sweet mouth d guy has been using to deceive ppl about his vision for Lagos,, he has a very sweet mouth.Thank you oh, Jare, u are one of the few Lagosians that knows fashola's mouth sweet no be small. |
Unfortunately IBB's Largasse would not filter down to the Igbo man or woman on the streets, the only person that would gain anything close to a few crumbs is hungry Ojukwu, I just hope he dosen't choke whilest eating the unedible because of his greed and gluttony. It is time Igbo's on the street realise that this fat oaf of a man is about to take them for another ride. IBB being the President would not stop your people from being Kidnappers, armed robbers and Drug dealers, it is somebody who can nip these unglamorous and nefararious activities in the bud you should vote for. Don't Jump ship with Ojukwu or u would drown with him. A word they say is good for the wise. |
The Good thing about Donald Duke at least he completed the project he started, where he failed is, siting an executive ice-cream parlour in Iceland. ![]() The intresting thing about Fashola he is a dreamer and a convolated visionary, where he failed persisitently is, he has yet to commute the glam of the drawing board into reality on the ground. I would not sleep over the Airport, knowing Fashola in his sub-conscious is aware that the hotair, emotions and hullabaloo raised over the thorny issue of a new airport in Lagos is all about constant and regular supply to Tinunbu's war chest. The Airport is a divisonary roost to raise un-warranted sentiments for OR against the project, the fact speaks for itself, the Airport on the ground at moment is grossly under-utilised, it would take dumbwit to believe this project would see the bright light of dawn, and if it does go ahead it would be one of the numerous catalogue of white-elephant projects that dot most African countries. I think together with Tinanpa, Nigeria has had its own fair share of such dumb projects. ![]() Elections are around the corner where is the money lubricating the AC Machinery going to come from, not with what Sanusi has turned our Bank's into, a good administrator must and should be ingenious at rasing funds by thinking big even if the projects are spurious and doubtful. ![]() . |
IF the evil genius can conduct the best election in the country how much more Jesus. OBJ is talking from his arse again. |
The Abiola family are in a dilema, they cannot join the ruling PDP party, because that would mean dinning with THE DEVIL IBB. The family's enemy number 1, so any daliance with any other party would not only commute the Abiola name into the doldrums of irrelevancy, the name would be rendered inconsequential in mordern day Yorubaland. Our younger generation are already struggling to remember what Abiola stood for, I am afraid a complete dearth and subsequent continued annihilation of a bygone era has bestowed that family the crowning would be the swearing in of Messers Babangida at Eagle Square. I can only sympathasise with them, but do I want to share part of their burden, hell NO. $$$$$ ![]() Babangida's Millions or Abiola moral stance, if the Ikemba can jump ship, who am I ![]() |
I am waiting on our brothers from the South East. If Anambra has 43 primaries candidates from the PDP in the last gubernatorial election, there will be at least 200 Presidential candidates from each state of the South East. The Igbos always love playing the second fiddle, follow-follow politics, is their antics when it comes to national elections. They are never individualistic as they claim to be except when it comes to local elections in their various state. Already a Yoruba man in the USA has throwing his hat in the ring, Duke is about do the same, and now Dele Momodu Edo/Yoruba has throwing his hat also in the ring. Let us see more Igbos throw their hats in the ring instead of them looking for VP position. |
IBB can pick Ojukwu has his running-mate,it'll make a good failure combinationGod knows IBB would not last more than 6 months as the President if he allows Ojukwu to be his VP, what Ojukwu cannot acheive on the battle field, would be at almost arms lenght, the resistance for Ojukwu to play it cool, would be overhealmed by his own personal greed and treachery to grasp power at all cost. Surely the subversive element in his genetic make-up would go on over-drive, throwing any decorum of caution overboard in his haste to fulfil his long stale ambition of being the President of Nigeria. Obviously the world would witness another botched attempt by bungling Ojukwu to grasp power from a man who is merely doing Ojukwu a favour, this time the Hausa-Fulani OR is it the Gwaris would make sure he meets his waterloo. |
18 Nigerians to be executed, what are they waiting for, any man or woman who think he or she want or it is idle to make a quick buck by peddling in hard drugs in a Muslim Country should face the consequence of their action. The whole macrabe sitiuation smacks of blackmail, what does the Indonesian Goverment expect us as a nation to do, they have their laws and they should follow it through to its logical conclusion. The other day a British National was hanged in China for peddling drugs despite her majesty's goverment protestation. Why involve the Nigerian Goverment, do they want a bribe from our officials so that they can release them or better still not release, they should please get on with it, it is better than holding these condemned men and women as a bargaining chip, it is bad enough that they have being adjuge to the gallows, the Indonasia Goverment should spare the families any more emotional toture and turmoil having already endeavoured it for 2 years. At least if proceedings have taking its natural course 2 years ago the families would have taken succour and teach younger members of their communities of the brazen dastardly act of their lost Uncles and anties. I implore the Indonesia goverment to get on with the Job and make sure they cremate the bodies as bringing them back home would bring un-nessary remainders, unbearable and untold hardship to the already distraught and out of pocket families. |
It would have being inconceivable after OBJ's 8 years in power to hand over power to another Southerner, that is understandable any Southerner who is of a contrary view is just blowing hot air and would have being a no hoper that explains why people like Gani ,Pat Utomi, Olu Fale and others failed woefully during last election. Now the Game has changed, the Northern President that was elected is no more to put it mildly, so we find ourselves stuck with a Southern President we did not bargain for. What it simply means is any Gentleman's agreement that existed b4 whether conscioulsy or sub-consciously has gone down the pan with Yaradua's demise. Today we have a level playing field whether you are a Northerner or a Southerner, everyone has equal chance of grasping power except for perharps the acting President who has a slightly higher profile than all asunder. By the next election there would be 46 States in the country, the requirement for u to get elected would depend on the number of grass-root support u can garnish and propel towards your campaign in the states- ( We hope we have a free and fair election just like Abiola's election ). The man who pulls all the different dissenting forces together under one umbrella would be the next President. If the next election is free and fair it might be an election where the 18 to 35 years old would be King makers. It is all in the air anyone can grasp power. Although if Jonathan the incumbent throws his hat in the ring, he has a better chance of winning than anyone else. |
Ask the BeromIt is good, finally, the Sub-consioness of the Beroms has come out to the foreshore, out of the yoke of the Hausa / Fulani Haegemony. Today the world is aware there is a tribe in central Nigeria called Beroms. Even gaff prone Gaddaffi would have being educated by his aides that the transgressions in the middlebelt was a fight put off for another day due to the interjections and interuptions of colonialism. I would urge the Ikwerre's to resist the un-necessary over-bearingness and lordship from the expansionist Igbos from the North especially now that everyone has her own little pokey State. |
