Thank you. Does this mean I'm always going to get a better deal by going to a dealership than buying from a private owner?

And if you throw some light on my question about other costs like issuance.
Purchase from a private seller is “sold as seen”, meaning as you drive off it’s all your problem, also a private seller won’t accept a credit card payment. It’s just not worth the hassle with a private seller unless it’s a sale between you and someone you know well enough. Also, AA and RAC has a type of service where you can pay to have the car checked and confirmed before you buy it, so look into that as well before purchase.

Hello

I didn’t know there was an argument about BRPs

Here’s how it works

Cutting and returning BRPs till ILR is advisory, it gets destroyed on arrival

Last ILR permit (BRP) before Citizenship MUST be cut into 4 and returned. The instruction for that is different and it goes with a note, saying that it is returned because the person is now a citizen plus other details like name, dob and the permit no on the BRP that is now cut in 4. That actually gets checked and the person will be fined if that isn’t done within days of getting his/her BC certificate

Regardless, getting caught with multiple BRPs raises concerns of forgery, impersonation etc even when the BRPs are yours.

I hope it helps

Cheers
What’s your source? I’d like to see the official guidance that says cutting and returning an invalid BRP is invalid if you don’t mind.

Hello everyone, just to give a bit of an update. The Midwives got back to us today that they have completed relevant checks/ confirmations with the NHS safeguarding team and the social services as regard’s piercing the baby’s ears. They were able to confirm that since it is cultural, it was fine as long as the piercing was done with clean and sterilized objects, and we clean with salt water regularly till it fully heals, to help prevent any infections.

Thank you all for your inputs
JapaGeneral come and see.

That will not be a bad idea o for carer that have their sponsored license has been revoked and the carer has only 60 days to get another sponsor or else ...and also what about carer that enter Uk and started getting health issue with the rigour that come with domicillairy care ,no be to go back to school find nursing course do ?
The OP did not give any context or additional information about his/her situation, so my response was specific not a generalization. If you're in the situation you've described, you know what to do.

Hello...pls is it possible for someone to switch from work visa (let's say care worker) to student visa after 6 months?

The care home/centre sponsored the person come UK
Yes, but that’s a bad idea. Don’t do it. You can go to school on a sponsored work visa you don’t necessarily need to change.

Please do they require English proficiency if someone wants to apply for Tier 2 after completing studies in the Uk? The person just finished Masters but result is not out yet though? Employer is asking if it can be provided when asked
If the person just finished masters, didn’t they do IELTS to get admission? You can submit that.

I wish home office can change the 20 hours a week rule for those whose sponsors do not have any shift to give.

A sponsor brought people in with an offer letter of 40 hours a week shift but ended up having no job to offer. She even told this people to pay her £150 for an online care certificate training link.

Many care homes and agencies that have jobs are not willing to give more than 20 hours a week shift to those who are on Tier 2 sponsorship.
When you paid for COS you knew you were taking a risk. It's an unfortunate situation, but no one in such situation can play the victim.

Thanks for your concern, The COS is out already and I
have put forward my application. The details was before they issued me the COS . I did priority so will be expecting decision from Home office before the start date God willing
Sorry I meant visa, not COS. when you receive the visa and they’ve updated the offer you can discuss resumption.

There is no minimum age for most body piercings but performing genital or nipple piercing on someone under the age of 16 could be considered an offence. In order to be able to carry out the piercing procedure a licence is required. Many local authorities set an age limit of 16 years old as a condition of the licence.

Emphasis on the last section

Social worker too was unsure of legal position, let's await OP's update.
You're talking about something absolutely different here. The OP asked about ear piercings, and you're talking about FGM, nipple piercings etc. what's the relation?

*Update*

Thank you my people for your contribution . COS issued this week . Make I sharpaly do application, na Priority sure pass now .
Obrigado 🙏

Hello elders , please your advise is sorted as I am with my computer to email my decision to the HR team .

I am on a skilled worker Visa(Support worker) with an agency which the Job is not frequent hardly do We see 24hrs in a week, But I have secure job with NHS that comes with Sponsorship 🙏, the cog in the wheel now is the COS is not out yet but the HR manager told me to start work with the trust on 20hrs weekly while i continue with my Former sponsors.
The unconditional offer sent to me reads Full time 20hrs, but I was pre informed that I should update my manger once the COS is out

Kindly advise

Please note on acceptance of the job offer I will have to relocate to the NHs trust location . Hope they won’t sly me later on as regard the COS . Kindly advise a brothers and sisters
Don't make any move until the new COS is out and they've updated your offer to say full time. What they've done is very shady and you will be the only one to suffer the consequences if things goes south. What's normally done is give you the unconditional offer with the correct details and you start when the COS is available. HR teams within the NHS know how the COS thing works so the fact that they're encouraging you to skirt the rules is quite strange and disturbing. My advice is stick to your current job, wait till the COS becomes available then submit it to them and request and update of the unconditional offer before starting. They're already neck deep, they can't turn you back at the point. All the best.

Please let me ask again, for a 1.4cc engine Ford fiesta and my international drivers license, what's the average monthly/annual insurance premium to expect? I am under 40 too... The lowest quote is got so far has been £233 monthly with £490 deposit! Is it always this high?? Comments please ooo
Use money supermarket, confused.com etc to check insurance. No one can tell you otherwise for certain. Also, if you have someone with a clean license and long driving history consider adding them as named driver, it drops the cost of insurance at sometimes.

Them no dey argue with people like this. About 5 people on this platform have advised the original poster (OP) to update his driving license and I want to believe that the OP is smart enough not to let a few hundred quid affect him in the event of an accident or a claim.

I’m just saying oh!
Yeah well hopefully anyone coming later on will see the repeated warnings and take heed.

Hello,

I need your advice as an international student. A few weeks ago, I applied for a provisional license, and as part of the verification process, I was asked to send my BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) card along with the application. I have received my provisional driver's license, but I still haven't received my BRP card. Despite my efforts to contact both Royal Mail and DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency), I haven't received any helpful information.

Could you please advise me on how to resolve this issue? What is the process for applying for a replacement BRP card or what steps do I need to take?
Your BRP will come, it might still be in the post. They don't send both together, though I'd expect the BRP would arrive first. I wouldn't be too stressed yet, hopefully you have a digital copy. You should be able to use a share code to prove your right to live/right to work.

Sometimes the mind boggles at people's reasoning on here!

How is it a terrible idea? How does having an additional UK licence invalidate his original Nigerian/international licence? Isn't that what he has been using all this while and was the original basis for his existing insurance policy? Why should a new driving qualification remove his intrinsic status as an international driving of X years from Nigeria?

The main reason I informed my insurance company was because I expected a financial benefit, not a surcharge because I should have a reduced risk level compared to before I got the UK licence, but alas it didn't happen.

If you have GBP 100 to waste, no problem. Some of others have better things to do with the money even if it's in excess rather than dashing the government!

If he has an accident/claim, all he has to do is present his old Nigerian licence and be mute about the new UK licence and his claims would still be valid / processed. C'est fini! I don't understand how that can constitute insurance fraud....never.
You're offering a bad advice and if anyone gets into an accident or is stopped by Police on that license, they will have issues to deal with. Your international licence and any insurance you have on it becomes invalid once you're granted a UK license. Try to verify the legality of your advice please, so you don't inadvertently put people in trouble.

Anybody please? This is a live situation. Thanks.
Sorry oh, but why is it at the point of purchase you thought of insurance? Use these for insurance. Mind you, if your insurance is starting today, it's likely going to be slightly higher. You might be better off leaving the car and picking it up another day or asking the vendor to move it to your home.

Good morning house,
Urgent.
A friend just got a new job before his passport renewal time of Nov 21.

Now he wants to know if the old expired passport can be used in data screening for the new job and if Not, what other documents can be sufficed in place of the expired passport.
Any advice from people with similar experience will be appreciated.

Thanks.
Expiration date does not concern the employer. As long as the passport is valid and the person has a right to work there's no problem.

Thank you. I'll be working in a higher band with a new Trust. I understand that managers don't have much control over what you are paid so I didn't bring it up during interview. My plan was to discuss salary issue with the HR when I go for ID check next week. But omo, the lady won wound me with emails requesting for my payslip. Just need an idea of what to do
On that payslip submission bit, I'm not sure. Maybe @Lexusgs430 has some insight, but I don't know what use it'd be to the HR. Maybe they're trying to use that to verify your past employment and service within the NHS, but your negotiation for increased pay shouldn' be hampered by it.

Okay so I have experience working in a trust, moving to a higher band in the same role and she's bent on starting me on the lower scale.
The default position for NHS employment is starting from the lowest step of the band. If you're moving from one band to another, it's almost impossible for you to start anywhere else other than the lowest step of the band.
It's actually easier to start from the midpoint of a band if you're coming from the private sector with significant experience or you're changing NHS employers, based on first hand experience from a lot of persons I know who've made the move. This isn't to say you shouldn't negotiate, however, don't feel cheated or too sad if you don't get it.

Hi everyone, I need advice travelling to a schengen country. I'm rounding up my studies in October and looking to travel in December. Please how do I go about it?
Be very careful travelling out of the country when your course is complete and you don’t have another visa. You shouldn’t be disturbed, but I’ve heard of people who had problems coming back into the country because according to the BF staff, they had already completed their course and didn’t have to be in the country.
Maybe those particular agents woke up on the wrong side that day, but you need to beware.

Guys, Kindly, on the council tax issue.

when does a student start paying?

for example, student came in sept 2022 (start of session) and visa expires January 2023

and council tax bill was received for upcoming 6 month October till march. do thry start paying after one year or until their graduation/expiration of studentship?

So that one will not be arguing or contesting what is not and one is in the wrong.
You start paying when you switch visas. As long as you're still withing your student visa period you're good. You'll have to go back to the council to revise the bill as you're not affected until February of next year, unless you switch visas earlier.

Good morning
My spouse's student visa is expiring in 2 weeks and we applied for him to switch to be a dependant on my student visa yesterday.
How many days does it take for the visa to be approved? We didn't see any where to pay for priority when applying.
What happens if his visa expires before the new one is out? Can he still stay without working until he gets it?
Is your spouse not eligible for PSW if not SWV?
What are they switching from student visa to student dependent? That sounds like a waste of funds in the long term if you’re going to switch visas again once your program concludes.

Hmmm on this 20 hours topic, what happens to someone who finished writing their dissertation 3 months before the submission deadline but didn’t submit so they started working more than 20 hours since they were done with their school work.
It’s not when you’re done with school work. The school has a set calendar for what is term time and what isn’t.
That information is publicly available for all. Unless you have some form of special letter or document ion from your school to indicate you have concluded all academic obligations you will technically be in term time.

Nigerians and sharp guy syndrome smh. The most annoying thing is they can’t even keep quiet about it. They’re all on IG and TikTok after one month, UK this, UK that. Even if the government decides to ignore a crime for a time, they cannot continue to turn a blind eye when it seems a crime is becoming actively promoted due to a seeming lack of consequences.
This is a country that can withdraw citizenship, let’s not forget. So even if you pass multiple contacts with HO you might not be all clear after all.
Let’s learn to be discreet and try to colour within the lines in this country.
