Widall: Hi gurus, just to get clarity, I have got a tier 2 work visa. Working in the NHS, 40hrs/week.
Recently, I got a second job (care job) doing 36 hrs /week.
Seeing this updates from gov.uk website, hope I'm not breaking any rules?
https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/second-job Your second employer will need to offer you sponsorship else you're limited to 20hrs. |

Lexusgs430: Haba....... Look on the brighter side ........
- Deposit would be minimal - Repayments would also be very minimal
It's called, shared generational debt responsibility payment ....... No point rushing, you have 50 years to pay it all up .......
Interest payments would put a very big smile on the lenders face.......... But they are robbing your back, you have to rub their back too ........... Yes now, for a 50yr mortgage just imagine how much interest you'd have to pay on that. Instead of focusing developing more affordable housing and preventing all these shady investment practices that drive up the price of the remaining housing stock, the government is instead ensuring its coffers remain topped up to the brim. This scheme is designed like almost everything else, to take advantage of the poor, though it seems like it's meant to help them when considered at face value. |

immortalcrown: Does this mean Ekweremmadu is not guilty of any offense? If yes, congratulations to him, and his critics should rest. But if he is guilty in any way, why so much concentration on the boy's age?
Also, why has immigration quickly confirmed the boy's age but may spend eternity trying to confirm the authenticity of the passport used by the boy?
I am not making any claim in favour of or against Ekweremmadu. I am just pointing out the errors in Nigerian system. Why is the confirmation of the boy's age what is making headlines as an achievement of the immigration? It is not bad for immigration to help in confirming his age. But verifying the authenticity of the passport, which is the core duty of the immigration, should first make headline about the immigration's effort in the case. Confirmation of his age is the core duty of the population commission. The boy's age underpins the whole case. Organ donation is not a crime, but an underaged child cannot give such consent. The parents of the underaged child also cannot consent to the operation. If he's indeed above 18, the only standing charge for I. Ek will be money laundering because reports say he was arrested with $20k. I believe you can only travel with $10k cash max, and must be declared |

TheGuyFromHR: Revolut isnt a bank, and I dont think it has signed up to the voluntary fraud protection scheme some UK banks have signed up to which is what enables them to refund money when people are scammed. All UK banks are generally equal in terms of services offered to depositors. There you go! That's something for those using Revolut like a regular bank to take into consideration when making transactions |

Was told most of the cars available for sale and also for driving test are manual. If you pass on a manual you can drive both. If you pass on an auto you can only drive auto. Many people claim auto cars are scarce, more expensive bla bla. I don't think it's much of a big deal but circumstances vary. |

Lexusgs430: You can coordinate in two ways ........
- Right coordination - Wrong coordination Personally, I don't think the Nigerian driving experience is a disadvantage. The learner just needs to be conscious of those acquired bad habits. Watching a lot of videos on youtube would easily highlight those issues. If you keep your bad traits in mind, while learning and consciously try to correct them, you'd be able to pass quite easily. Coordination, anticipation, remaining centred, stopping distances on the road etc, those sort of things only come with time spent on the road. The longer you've spent driving, the better you'd normally be at those skills, which would translate to an easier pass here in the UK..... Unless you were an Ikeja - Sango Ota molue driver in the past , those drivers are irredeemable. |

If you have Tier 2 sponsorship, you can only do 20hrs for another employer in the same occupation code or in another shortage occupation. You're not allowed to just take up a second random job, unfortunately. If you're going to do more than 20hrs you're going to need sponsorship from the second employer |

Missposh: On using amex credit card
I used my amex credit card at the beginning of the month, my statement date is in a few days but each time I log in, it says payment not due at this time. When I tried to pay, it say you can only make on this date everyone...something along that line.
Thanks Just set up direct debit and make sure there's always funds in your account around the time of collection. Saves you the hassle of trying to make timed payments. But if you really want to make payments at your will, wait for the expense to clear and reflect in your balance (not statement) when that appears, you'll be able to pay off any %age of the balance you please. Make Payments > Pay by Debit Card |

BorisJohnson: Don’t blame the banks for your refusal (or inability) to read the Terms & Conditions (small prints). The banks always, always give an option to opt out of auto-renew. It is grossly unfair to write the bolded. You want to auto-renew a card that expired 3yrs ago, without a request from the user? For an account that has another card in use? Small print my ass. |

omoajiri: Good morning everyone and thanks for the updates here. As a prospective UK student, I wish to be tutored on the following: 1. What document is required from Nigeria that will be of use to get a UK driver's license? Is the international driver's license issued in/from Nigeria recognized & of any use to be able to drive in the UK until the UK own is issued. 2. Which bank will you advice for one to open & operate an account with? 3. Best mobile operator that has the cheapest rate & wide coverage. 4. Does applying for loans (Lendwise for example) from Nigeria have any impact on the possible outcome of a student visa application? Thanks in advance. 1. Don't bother with international license, if you're coming as a student. Jejely go to a driving instructor and take a few lessons then get UK license 2. Bank offerings are almost identical, for high street banks I prefer Natwest or Barclays. It'd be easier to open one of these new gen banks like monzo or wise to start with. 3. Pick a cheap and dirty sim when you arrive first. Giffgaff, lycamobile etc. Find what works in the area you're going to settle in and switch if need be. 4. UKVI does not do a credit search on you before giving you visa, however, UK is experiencing a surge in the cost of living. Plan appropriately before using a loan to come in as a student. You're not going to magically get a job to wipe off your loan and cover living costs very easily, else you'll end up skipping classes to hustle. 3. |

MadeMen4Life: Oga Lexus, months ago you advice us to always report our rent that it helps build credit score. Ditto, I’ve been doing that since about 6 months now, I also enrolled myself to the electoral register…
Some weeks back, I got a mail from Creditkarma that my score increased with 8+ and I was happy even though the total score is about 533 ( please don’t laugh )….
What came as a shocker to me now is that another mail came today saying my score has been updated or something, then I went to check, lo and behold, 13+ had been taken from my credit score…. I was wondering what could have happened??
Two things crossed my mind…. 1. I just just moved house few days ago and I updated everything that has links to my new address, even the electoral register, banks and everything….
2. I went to Lloyds bank to switch my account from Barclays, I wasn’t told there would be a hard search on my credit file, while I was with the bank assistant, I just received a notification that a search has been made… Within the minute, the bank assistant told me the application to switch bank and getting a bonus switch of £150 has been declined… I just left the bank not knowing they’ve ripped my credit score that I’m managing to build little by little…
I’m not happy like this Credit scores aren't much of a determinant for anything don't worry too much about the fluctuating scores, it will settle with time. I'd advise you leave your first UK bank account open even after opening a new bank account. The age of your oldest account is quite useful i.e the older the better. |
