@justwise, @ticha, @lexusgs430 et al. House, does anyone have recommendations on good mortgage brokers? I’m looking for a lender but these people are a pain if you don’t have five years history in the UK. A professional might be able to work some magic. |

shilenji: Leave no man behind. In a circle of 5friends and only 4 are successful,if you're the odd one out change your circle ASAP, if na illegal work them they do change your circle. If it's legit work, and they aren't giving you tips on how to be successful like they are, they don't really like you. This 2022 let love lead. I’m sorry but this does not make sense. If you’re the unsuccessful 5th amongst 4 legitimately successful four, you should be asking yourself what you’re doing wrong. You don’t leave those successful. No offense to you, but same mistake is often made by academically-struggling students. You see them forming cliques and all put together do not sum up to one, instead of the struggling students to mover closer to the brilliant students that can help them do better. If you have friends that are genuinely successful and you’re not, cling on to them to show you the way. |

Ticha: It will reflect regardless of when you pay. What the CRAs record on is how exposed you are, defaults (late payments, non payment etc) and what new credit you apply for.
If you have a reasonably good credit, apply for an interest free spending or money transfer card then use those funds to trade.
If it's a money transfer card, the funds get transferred into your account (You must not spend on the card at all cos that will invalidate the interest free period)
If a purchase card, my advice will be to use as much of the credit and then start paying it down.
Both cards will come with an initial admin fee of 1-3%.
For example - we have a huge expenditure coming up which we have saved for anyway - we're returning to the UK for 8 weeks this year and about to pay for flights. I've applied for an interest free money transfer credit card and bought all our flights (card limit £14k, flights £9k) and have transferred the remaining £4k into our shares (it's currently 2.2 NZD to £1 pound so 8kNZD worth of shares). I have immediately set up a direct debit to cover the interest free period of 24 months. Direct debit is £625 a month. Remember we already have that money but instead of paying it upfront to the airline, I can budget 6 months at a time and make sure all repayments are covered and make some some extra change in the intervening 24 months from our savings and the rest of the money from the card .
I have used the same process to cover visa application and expenses costs fees for my family when they apply for visit visas, I've in the past used it to trade. You have to be very, very disciplined and not see it as awoof money.

THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE - I am just sharing my experiences. You na Albert Einstein of financial management |

Bourne007: If not on this list, then it's not termed as Public funds
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/public-funds--2/public-funds This site was made in 2014, and hasn't been updated since then from what I can see. What's been listed also doesn't seem like an exhaustive list, more so, they further made the distinction "Public funds do not include benefits that are based on National Insurance contributions".The best course of action would be to get the DWP or HMRC to confirm I guess. |

Ralphlauren: They've casually mentioned that they used the government's help to buy scheme which means all they had to do was drop 5% deposit.
I hope they are aware that such schemes are tagged as public funds. Good luck to them if they are not indefinite leave to remain holders as at the time they made the application . . . . Only an idiot with an eye on UK citizenship will claim public funds and think they can get away with it . . . . You know I was having this same conversation with someone the other day. This is a possible trap that will get people in real problems down the line. The same feeling I have towards LISA's as well. The government adding 1K to your funds if you max the LISA is essentially public funds. I'm still researching the guidance on this, but for anyone without ILR all these schemes with the government offering support could end up being a greek gift |

SamReinvented: You do realise that the baby would have died if the parents didn't take over in resuscitating the child and dialing 999, yea? And she doesn't deserve an expulsion for that? For almost murdering a child because she can't keep her emotions and over-religiousity in check? And we wonder why the system in Nigeria isn't working....
We seriously need to realise that certain level of carelessness should carry grave consequences. Mistakes, one-off... etc. It is still what it is. She messed up BIG TIME! - maybe it's time for her to go and rest at home. If you have lost a family member as a result of the careless handling that many of the healthworkers in Nigeria do, you wouldn't talk like this. She panicked, medical professionals are humans too. The fact that she was shouting Jesus or whatever she was shouting doesn't really change the facts of the matter. Yes, she could have handled the situation a whole lot better, but this incident has only exposed her need for further training, not a direct strike off the register. A medical professional is not supposed to freak out in a medical emergency, but like her lawyer said, everyone has a bad day in the office. You can also understand why she may seem unapologetic. There were other charges made against her, which were later dropped either because they were found to be untrue or could not be proven,so somehow the case probably degenerated to a he said, she said. |

So our uni is giving out funds for those experiencing financial difficulty. https://www.rgu.ac.uk/study/finance-funding/funding-and-scholarships/4550-coronavirus-fund
He said he wants to apply and I'm not sure what to tell him especially as international students have claimed that we have funds at the time of visa application. In my time, the uni offered me hardship funds, but in the same email or maybe when I queried eligibility as an international student they also told me they'd be informing the Home Office of international students who claimed funds. I don't know what that means. |

Very good as you see different rates and you choose the one you want.
The owner of that app try oo Why does a money exchange/trasnfer app require BVN? I signed up, got to the BVN stage and was a bit stunned. Moreso, they say they're FCA regulated, I couldn't find the number on their website on the FCA register. Has anyone been able to verify this people? One has to be quite careful because even if the Kyish itself is all above board, if they aren't under any proper regulatory authority, there's no real assurance of the security of the data they collect. |

DeeOneBangin: Quick one guys; I have a job interview nextweek. When is it best to ask if the company can sponsor for the role I’m applying for. It’s a care home and the name of the company is among the list of sponsors. If they don't ask in the interview, wait till you've been offered the role. After the offer, you can raise it before the right to work checks. |

@justwise @lexusg430 I need your thoughts. A friend came to the UK on a Tier 4 visa in September and was randomly applying for some permanent roles to test the water and see how employable he is. Now he’s got a company that has the ability to sponsor him on a T2. Is it possible to switch visa completely before the 3 months to the end of course rule? If he’s able to combine work and school, can he continue with the masters program while working full time on the Tier 2 visa? I'm sorry I don't think I follow. |
