AustinDark, I might be wrong but it seems you are an introvert by nature. I'll advice you get yourself involved in lots of exciting activities. Hiking with friends, soccer, church etc. Anything that involves lots of strangers and people. That seems to be the easiest way to get what you want. Besides, it would help calm you down and relax your mind.

Dont be in a rush to get one. Have lots of female friends first and learn how to relax around them and have fun.

Money is cool but is not always necessary to get someone to like you or love you.

It amazes me that there are still people who will support tyrants like ghadaffi or assad all because of rabid anti american sentiment. People are being massacred yet you are shouting carry go.

Try ask them for bauchi or so. one of the local govts had a toddler's name on the payroll and were collecting cash. Another state just found out 5000 ghost workers ( check dailies for last one week) on its payroll.

Kudos to the only region that cares enough about veracity of certificates to investigate them instead of employing toddlers, goats and similar ghost workers on the payroll like the r.e.s.t

ProgrammingRe: Stunning Web Page Wit Asp.net by kodewrita(m): 3:51pm On Jun 12, 2012
Upgrade to ASP.Net MVC 3 with Razor Syntax. That way you code straight HTML/CSS in your views and C# or VB.Net in your controller and models. You wont be limited by a drag n drop toolbox. (except you are a lazy dragndrop programmer in the first place ).

The other possibility is that you havent mentally solved the problem you are trying to code. Clarify what you want to develop then try it again.

doncigalo: Ait I stand corrected then, just getting to hear about flegz and watchlocker. By the Kasuwa is not owned by dealdey, you need to check your facts, It is owned by Rocket.
Yep. My error. DealDey owns Konga.com not Kasuwa.com.

ProgrammingRe: Why Most Web Developers Fail by kodewrita(m): 8:01am On Jun 12, 2012
doncigalo: @ kodewrita I dont get huh what is a poor example huh That a highly successful internet company has brought an e-commerce model into Nigeria from a country similar to ours. Please be a bit constructive in your arguments mate. Have a look at their payment methods, they are the FIRST Nigerian e-commerce platform to implement the payment method where you pay for goods by cash when they have been delivered to you !
Wrong again.

So many other companies already do that. Always try to back up your info with a little research.

Most of the surviving e-commerce companies in nigeria including Flegz.com ( more than 3 years old run by personal acquaintance Prosper Onogberie) have been relying on Cash On Delivery.
Kasuwa.com developed by the team behind DealDey.com already does pay on Delivery.
Watchlocker.net ( strictly sells watches) does Cash on Delivery.

If something works in the US, maybe its because every similarly structured economy needs such.

Craigslist == Nairalist
Linda Ikeji == Arianna Huffington ( if only she can recruit other people to join her and turn that site into a greater platform).
MonsterJobs == Jobberman.
PayPal == ?
AirBNB == ?
ZipCar == ?
Lynda.com == ?

Good ideas aplenty . am not condoning being a copycat but I am totally in support of implementing ideas that make sense.

If it makes sense and there's a need for it, please dont hesitate.

doncigalo: @abubaka I tip my hat of for you !! Thats a great insight. It nice to see that there are people with such great insight . Carry go and climb up the ladder. Aim for the stars my friend , even if you fall short, at least you would have left the ground and passed the heavens.

@guru01 Well said !! I routinely get called by my business associates to help them interview candidates for software/web development roles, and I can attest to your point that majority of these lads know nothing about problem solving . Imagine asking undergraduates from top universities and software developers about SDLC or UML and they know nothing about it, even OOP concepts such as Classes and Polymorphism and they still know nothing.

We need to start developing our own content , look at what is happening in the e-commerce landscape, over the last couple of weeks we have witnessed the launch of not just one but two e-commerce platforms; Kasuwa.com and Sabunta.com, by a southafrican company called Rocket. We need more locally developed apps such as jobberman and dealdey.

Nigerian developers need to stop building apps based on foreign models and expect the Nigerian demographic to adopt to it, instead they should build apps that address the needs of the Nigerian market. Only then can they be successful! !
Poor example. The team that launched Sabunta (Rocket Enterprises) are internationally known as the best copy cats in the world. Google the Samwer Brothers. They have made hundreds of millions out of copying other people's ideas. All I can add to this discussion is that you strive to raise your level of competence in the key technologies you claim to have and also aim at big projects that solve big problems. The rest will take care of itself. God bless you all.

Dont subscribe to the hype.

master languages one at a time.

Master one by building something with it ( as Seun said) then you can start ranging all over the place.
BusinessRe: What Business Can A Lady Do With 100k With At Least 15k Profit Monthly by kodewrita(m): 4:47pm On May 31, 2012
Buy DaViva and other really cool fabrics and take them to other cities outside lagos and sell at a much higher price. You make your cash quickly.

Buy southwestern foodstuffs and take them to non-southwestern states and sell at much higher cost.

open small indomie shop in busy area and cook indomie for sale.

open small hairdressing salon (not sure if that can be enough).
PoliticsRe: Aso Rock Belongs To Nigerians...in A Democracy We Have No Pictures? by kodewrita(m): 9:21am On May 31, 2012
You are just making me more pissed off at my country.

Was driving in ABJ near Aso Rock and we ended up having to stop and turn back. Why because GEJ wanted to go out and the SSS/Security decided to shutdown the highway for 30-something minutes prior. Same way they shut the airspace because he wants to take off from an airport.

And little regional miscreants called governor's convoys will push you off the road so their capo can pass.

Such an irritating country.

Please remove the ugly background and change it to a simple plain colour pending the time you get some design inspiration. It looks like a site from 1998 and is too busy-looking.

Lets not despise the days of little beginnings. The key is to just keep improving it.

Keep it up and look around at other forums e.g Nairaland and try to see what they are doing right.
Foreign AffairsRe: Israeli Violence And Racism Against African Immigrants by kodewrita(m): 8:31am On May 25, 2012
Guess they ran out of palestinians to shoot.

I would suggest African countries kick out Israeli embassies if a single citizen from their country is killed.

They cant eat their cake and have it.

You are either open or you stay away. Ask North Korea.

The twitter model seems more user friendly though. And your followership might be a better measure of your usefulness/value than your number of friends. If I like Beaf's comments (psyching in progress), I can follow him without him necessarily knowing.

@Seun blehhhhhhhhhh, selling that language again abi. lmao. Cool tho. and the fact that its true is also even more irr-noying.

For me though, reading code especially framework code is an opportunity to see how the really cool programmers do stuff. I learnt how to use PHP magic functions (__call and co) by reading Codeigniter backend codes. And I fell in love with the way Wordpress hooks are implemented ( in fact their own motto is Code is Poetry ), makes you love the Observer pattern.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Did Yoruba People Leave ELEDUMARE For The God Of Jesus And Allah? by kodewrita(m): 5:59am On May 22, 2012
If you don't know something, its better to ask instead of making silly posts. Eledumare is one of the many yoruba names for god. That is the name we still call him.

The pagan idiots on this thread who are mostly non yoruba are the ones making dumb comments about what they don't know.

Please learn more yoruba before starting threads like this.
