Are you planning on running it yourself or recruiting someone? |
One by one the corrupt leaders will leave the scene. |
God forbid that such a war should start but it might start off with just the Bakassi people fighting and end up drawing in larger masses of sympathetic Nigerians. And you can bet your last dollar/franc that Nairaland will probably be a massive recruitment center/ mouthpiece for the Bakassi combatants. It will be quite messy and might drag both countries back. It might also give France what its always wanted: The Disintegration of the big anglophone country that has prevented its full domination of west african states. |

About time. The Southwest needs to break the backs of these many unions( actually they are simply cartels). Why allow something so important to the lifeblood of the southwest/lagos remain in the hands of touts and brigands. Better to face them down now and reap the fruits. Besides, a Lagos with monorail and expanded BRT will not have as much need for small buses( which are the mainstay of the NURTW). |
There's a need for an alternative to air and road travel in all areas in nigeria. I am hoping the rails come back. that would make it possible for the following: Shipping from lagos to port harcourt without paying "deve" in every small village along the way. Taking night trips from lagos to port harcourt and back without worrying about "Isikankwu & Sons" along the way. Taking trips with lesser fear of "Danagate". Possibility of bypassing rowdy cities like Onitsha (apologies to people from there but that city is a uniquely rowdy inland city). Reduce traffic on eastern roads and hence reduce accidents. Induce consolidation( and possibly better service) of transport companies as the small ones will die out. |
Unfortunately for such people, I tend to mark them as fraudsters immediately. I escaped this twice. First time was in allen in ikeja, some guy walked up to me near the Alade market claiming he was looking for one woman, that he brought goods for her( cellphones) and that he only just got released by customs and he cant seem to find her. Almost immediately someone showed up. This second guy was a great listener and his questions seemed to help develop the guy's argument. I knew instantly it was a script. I made sure not to point towards the market in anyway (yes these african superstitions sometimes control you even when you dont believe them) and simply asked him to cross the road and ask inside the market. Sidestepped both of them and walked swiftly into Mr Biggs ( am assuming Biggs are still at allen, men spent cash madly those days). Second time was in Warri and I was deeply scared after hearing the first few sentences as I knew immediately that the two were scammers/kidnappers. The guy claimed to have brought a set of laptops for some catholic sisters and that he cant locate them as it seems they may have relocated from warri. Interestingly this was at the entrance of one of the senior staff estates for one of the companies in warri so they probably thought I was a good target. I had also just exited Chicken Republic on airport road so I FIT THE PROFILE to a t. Almost immediately, just like the other time, a listening ear appeared. This time, it was a supposedly helpful bikeman. I was even scared they were kidnappers ( but was certain no one would kidnap a full grown me on the back of a bike). My demeanor changed immediately. I swung my bag to the back and stepped back from both of them and instantly told them I wasnt interested in buying/ selling laptops of any sort. Luckily another bike was stopped by someone else and I ran and jumped on it. Told the guy to move first and listen to destination instruction later. Interestingly they moved off together as I left. I have noticed though that their stories cant bear much intelligent questioning. But thats not the most dangerous part. The issue is what they will do when they find out that you know what they are planning. thats the fear. |
Sadly, no url to the location or page where this is mentioned. All we have is a supposed "supermod". Believe a bold faced lie at your own peril. |
Yes, this is why she deserves a pension, people!!! |
I find the yoruba spoken by the Aku more interesting than this article. My feeling is that it would be more intelligible if it were written using Crowther-style yoruba spelling. for example "bi aba ku ara enni ni isni ni" should be written in Crowther-style (Nigerian Yoruba style) as " bi a ba ku ara eni ni n sini". Just slight differences. "imolle" --> 'imole'. But all in all, still the same language. |
@Boladez, May the good lord bless you for exposing the filth and rot called NEPA/PHCN. |
You know what would be really cool. Translating the whole effin series into pidgin. Now thats a laugh. ![]() |
Israel seems to be steadily getting more and more rightwing or radicalized. few weeks ago, it was about attacks on Black jews and sudanese immigrants and now....the new testament. what's next? |
Use the HTTPClient API on your server to access the page. (Thats the only PHP Curl Equivalent I could quickly identify )http://hc.apache.org/httpcomponents-client/index.html or use the URLConnection class to access the page. I am assuming you dont have to login for that to happen. even if you have to login( even if SSL certs are needed), HTTPClient should be able to handle it. You will need to have a server for your mobile application( You dont want to bring down your school server do you?). Use whatever flavour you are familiar with (Spring, JSP etc). For the mobile app itself, a few options exist: --->J2ME is useful --->or you could simply get the Android SDK and write yourself a mobile Android app ---> or get yourself one of the many frameworks that allow you to code the app in HTML5 and Javascript. ( e.g the Blackberry Webworks) Cant help further at the moment ( browsing from my desk). Am sure the java gurus on this site (e.g Segsalerty, Beaf, Fayimora etc) should be able to assist with more ideas. |
Dont ask IT people. Ask Business people what they need or what they use. IT people sometimes do stuff simply because it seems like the cool thing to do. Business people will pay only for things they NEED. Look for a business need then write something for it. |
Pukkah: Must you curse? Must you throw insults? Have you totally lost the capacity to engage in decent arguments and discussions? I think you urgently need to see a psychologist. You sir, deserve a Pullitzer award for succinct, straightforward, from-the-heart, sharp-shooting commentary. |
IIKOTECH: Notice has been served for more than 2yrs.I dont have the link now but there was a resettlement scheme constructed for them which they are supposed to have refused to relocate there. its also interesting that Amaechi here in port harcourt just ordered the demolition of the Elechi beachfront settlements which have long been the den of criminals, kidnappers and oil bunkerers ( In fact oil bunkering was reported to be their mainstay). Its sad that we have to use brute force nowadays but I would have preferred some steady news notifications some days before the action and probably video documentaries on the resettlement scheme and clear instructions as to how people can move there and get allocations. |
Happy Birthday Seun Osewa. It has been a long ride. Thanking God --->for your life --->for all the hurts and pains overcome --->for the fame and progress --->for greater highs yet to be experienced. As you start another decade may this be the beginning of a new greater phase in your life and in that of your many beloved creations (Nairaland, Nairalist and the many secret/mothballed projects). All the best. |
Its a cultural thing. A friend of mine who works in a multinational narrated a recent global conference they had. On this side of the screen ( nigeria) you could see all manner of people looking stuffy in business suits while on the other side, all manner of people dressed casually in jeans, hijabs, jalabya, frocks and t-shirts. The conclusion was that most of the extra-strict rules we have here in nigeria are simply cultural bondage. Same guy dresses differently in different climes. So when he's in Europe where they are not so culturally caged, he goes for meetings dressed casually and when in nigeria ( where people might hold it against you ) he dresses like he's getting married. The key learning for me is to dress to expectation if you have something you need such people for. If attire is very important to them OR if it can be used to achieve a certain strategic objective, then i will dress to suit that purpose. |
So you want us to do your work for you. Topic moved to education. |
Considering the fact that Sanusi wasnt there in 2002, why put his picture here? the logo of the CBN would have been more appropriate. besides the title is wrong. This would have been more appropriate "NNPC Secret Account Solely Operated By CBN, says NNPC" |
igbo boy: myopic view...ara-wolowo will be dissappointed in you....who says we can't rename it when that time comes. what's in a name? For now we are still nigerians. If that time comes we can call it national university out something else. |
mitofag: Nollywood,Its in the southwest of nigeria. So that makes sense and besides, its meant to be a joint effort (am assuming here) of all the southwestern states and I dont see what the issue is. lets wait and see what they achieve with it. LASU, LAUTECH, OOU, UNAD, AAU and so many other state universities need to also be upgraded too. |
Just to ask the poster. When exactly did Cain get married and where? |
^^^^ Butler: Mr Dele, there's a package with a red ribbon for you downstairs. Can I open it? Dele: No Please dont ( Jogs downstairs whistling ) **Opens it** |
Agent na Agent, All na 10% runs. |
Probably all programmers should leave a forwarding address in their code so we know where to send the bomb when they leave crappy code behind. |
