You spent all the time talking about your past( hers and yours), now focus your attention on the present and the future. Plan stuff together ( a visit to her, somewhere to take her in lagos or elsewhere when she comes visiting). Share your daily events with her especially the fun and frustrating stuff. Get to know her friends through her and yarn endlessly about them. Let her get to know some of your 'tame' friends. ( unless you want to come back to NL with one of many 'horror friend nacking her' horror stories. make funny one minute calls throughout the day "Hey you, whatchu doing @ d moment? waiting fir my call innit "Just make her day fun!!! ( interestingly you'll have fun with that too. ) |
A very interesting year IMHO. |
Yes, they can if given the chance. Why should we think otherwise? Left to their own devices, I believe most people in nigeria would actually prosper. Besides, if nigeria were to break, they would become locked into creative competition with the Southwest (which would instantly take off ). |
which area? I am hearing rumors of it happening in Woji. |
PointB: Security by obscurity; hiding something in plain view, is a widely use security practice.A practice deeply abused in nigeria where SSS agents flash their cards in beer parlours all over the country. I knew all the SSS dudes in my neighbourhood while growing up. I see it as either mischievious/ plainly stupid. Why announce the location of the said BH prison? A third overlooked option might be that the secret location will actually be in the 'East' while BH will be wasting manpower combing Lagos for the location.( Now that would be class!!!) |
May God Reward him for what he just did. A colleague of mine did the same in his home town in Edo state. in spite of the fact that there were many politicians in that area, it was so impressive. Surprisingly, hired help staff from the household of a senator in that area were seen coming to that tap to fetch water for watering their gardens and car cleaning. Shows you how evil our leaders are. 4 boreholes in 4 years will not kill any of these thieves ruling us, yet they refuse to do so. God bless you Emeka. If you get a political post because of this, then it is just and deserved. I am yoruba ( so no connection whatsoever) but I seriously want to applaud this and the many NYSC youth corpers who keep sinking boreholes and building needed infrastructure across the federation while our politicians engage in a race to the bottom to steal as much as possible. |
Eko Ile: These guys are so proactive it's unbelievable...simply scary. By the time other southwestern states wake up, Lagos will have run away with their lunch money. Oyo, pls lets clean out the hooligans NOW ( not a reference to any governor or aspirants but the culture there). |
Sheer evil. A nation ruled by locusts. |
The Federal Government owns 50-60% of these companies. Hence they are already nationalized. If you mean, taking the remainder too, I dont think thats fair and helpful to our economy. |
If it results in the fall of the Sudanese regime, then its a blessing in disguise. |
. |
what would you do? answer your own question first. |
search google for twilio and see if it fits your specs. |
At the end of the day, the world will assess you based on number and complexity of completed projects not the skills you claim to have. Do whatever you end up doing, make it count. Let there be visible landmarks that you can point at. |
@delomos and @softversion, Me i like this una dating oh... heehehe. nice work. Thats what this forum's all about. Networking. Keep it up. |
its useful. Both Oracle and Mysql have GIS facilities ( before the purists jump on me, I mean they have datatypes specifically designed for storing Geospatial data). but some computer programming experience might also be used to support this too. |
Today Mali, Tomorrow Kano?.... |
@ekt_bear is there a way a Nigerian resident in nigeria can invest directly in the NYSE? |
They can go through their embassy. There should be a Japan-Nigeria chamber of commerce if I am not wrong. This tip is just for their protection. As far as ideas are concerned, it wont be bad to explore ways to introduce japanese cuisine into nigeria. We already have chinese restaurants and I am sure the rich would patronise a japanese one too. |
Let's all be open-minded and pretend that at 35, we will feel fulfilled while our mates are crowing to each other about Junior's spectacular performance at the inter-house sports or common entrance exams. Let's all pretend that ,as 25-29 year olds , we dont feel heart pangs/ throbs when a cute 3-year old girl with ribbon tied hair comes to curl up in our laps or hugs you tightly. Let's all pretend. |
Actually i'll disagree with you guys. Whats the point of having 6 thieving governors when we can have one? At least we can better tackle one set of thieves if all eyes are on them than 6 different people. Besides, a regional approach is needed to solving many of our problems. Transport for instance. |
Unfortunately, our political elite are ok with the current status quo. Changing it might drastically reduce the looting opportunities. |
It is well documented everywhere that BRT systems are more effective and faster to implement, yet nigerian state governments want to go the monorail route. I am certain its the higher kickback/inflated contract sizes that they really want. Otherwise, I would expect every nigerian state government to learn from Lagos and implement BRT systems. That is not to say that this isnt a good initiative. |
My 2 cents: Many people are simply happy about this for tribal reasons but ask any practising IT professional, its nothing special. Its simply a database for storing details of arrested criminals. Until he gives more specifics, i would take the 'tracking' with a pinch of salt. Is it realtime tracking of previously arrested criminals? Or just a mugshot database so we can compare prints and photos with evidence from previous crimes? what exactly is it? Lets not celebrate mediocrity. |
Track as in store names and ids of people that have been arrested? Dont we already have such systems in place? Shouldnt that be a default for any crime-fighting organization? That tells you how low we have sunk as a country for this to be counted as a major advancement. |
Kobojunkie: Simply!! Google up ready-made solutions and plug them all up to get something working.A.k.a Mumbai Coding. |
Guess I'll have to give you the Lord of The Rings then? www.griaulebiometrics.com They have a DigitaPersona compatible SDK and its also capable of reading biometric samples from images. also search for biometric research by the University of Bologna. I recall using their API tools for my final year project. |
