well , in my own case i attended the following schools (be afraid , be very afraid) {section edited out for privacy reasons} now in 200 level Bowen Uni computer science. "Feel It" interesting how everyone here is not schooling in naija ( ). anyway , we hope our schools will improve and convince more of our prodigal kids to come home.@anugirl why the latin. anyway i will add mine in french even if its not correct. qui tu ne response mon message. |
Three guys travelling in a car had an accident and went to heaven. The following interview ensued with St Peter. ST Peter: youngmen, as you are in front of me that means you are fit to be in heaven however i will need to ask you a question as it will determine the kind of transport you get (heaven is a large place). St Pet to 1st man: you were married before you died . can you tell me for how long and how many times you cheated? 1st man: I was married for 8 years and i cheated 4 times. St Pet: what , take that 1980 volkswagen beetle 2nd man: in my own case i was married for 15 years and i cheated only twice St Pet (With an irritated frown): take the peugeot 504 3rd man: I was married for 36 years and I have never cheated. St Pet(hugs him): take the Benz Maybach. The third man drove off and his friends later caught up with him crying by the side of the road, so they asked him what happened. He said " I just passed my wife, she was on a skateboard" |
This post is the natural result of some posts that I have read. Men/boys: Which do you prefer, housewife or a 9-to-5er [working woman]? Women/girls: If you had a choice and you could stay at home with all your needs catered for, would you take such an option or opt for a job (however stressful)? My bias would already be evident to anybody reading the post. Seun, maybe we need a vote on this one. |
@tayotina Africana has done away with our fears with regards to feeding when the wives are not in town. Just drive to the nearest tantalizer's outlet and treat yourself to their Yam porridge(i believe thats their best dish) or something else. @Ka I agree there should be division of labour. it is not easy to keep count of how many questions have been passed on "Who wants to be a millionaire " and cook at the same time. she will do the cooking, i will help her watch the tv (of course i provided the funds for the dish so its not entirely on her side.) |
It would have been easier if anybody paid attention to the "where do you reside ?" link up there. It would make organizing it easier. personally i stay in one of the O states (I leave you to guess which one though i am not averse to cross-country) and I would not mind organizing one. |
Yes, we are currently discussing one among a few members including Seun. lets know what u think about one in your area. Personally i would like to know what mamba, tayotina and Chigzy look like. |
I believe the best players are the ones who make you believe that sex is inevitable and end up making you agree or worse they manipulate you until you offer it to them @mosiate there are no formulas, rulebooks or stated tactics involved.players only have guiding principles like " give her enough to deliver what i want but not enough to stop me from running when i want" @Seun I haven't heard about this "Marriage @ 30 "project. whatever it is , let me advise you to rescind that decision before you become an "aristo" so that you won't pay for whats free right now. As the lead actor in road trip said "the window of opportunity to date, have sex and take advantage of young freshmen is getting smaller by the day. " ![]() N.B don't crucify me , i saw that in a film. |
Try www.Metrodate.com/ng if you are interested in meeting nigerian singles (girls that is). I was told by a reliable source who claims to have joined that its pretty reliable and you get to send messages. haven't tested it though. |
@Red What do you expect from a country filled with designer drugs, where one in four residents has a gun? contrary to what you watch on CSI and other cop shows american police are not as good as potrayed and the number of unsolved cases far outweighs the solved cases. Decent people live where i stay and even though the bad eggs (which are everywhere) still commit crimes, there are lesser number of people killed per day compared to the US. Most cities in nigeria apart from Lagos, Abuja, PH and other major cities have lower death rates due to murder than the US. |
These people are simply thieves. They said 35 was minimum age limit now they upgrade it to 45. One of the basic precepts of democracy is that you can vote and be voted for. What this means is that the 60% of the population who are between the ages of 18 and 35 will not be allowed to contest for elections when the same set of people who were 20 years when they wrecked our country are still the same kleptocrats ruling us. |
The earliest mention of him that i got was from my mother who told me Dangote and Dantata once held the monopoly of importing cement, sugar , rice , textiles and other products during the reign of Shagari. We all know how the useless imports depleted our exchange and led to the current morass we are currently in. In the spirit of reconciliation, we should forget all that as long as they create jobs and help us reclaim what they caused us to lose thru their actions. |
@Red whoever you are, I will like to ask you if you have ever stepped on Nigerian soil before. This is a nice country inspite of its flaws and believe me more people are killed every day in the US than in Nigeria. @Hidden_Hunter The police is not a refuge cos they can be bought (sad to say but true.). I have no helpful suggestions because in this case you are not nigerian and some of my suggestions will not work. I suggest your father makes his own security arrangement and brings the threat to the attention of other people on the board of the company to see what they can do. It won't be a bad idea to involve the EFCC (new watchdog) cos it has a financial nature. Consider all options and do what is best, It would not be the best for ur father to lose his life cos he wants to do his job. |
Sorry to burst the bubbles of hnd holders but the HND anywhere in the world is inferior to the degree holder cos the degree holder is EXPECTED to have undergone a more rigorous academic program and is believed to be more suited to the job. This theory that universities focus on the theoretical aspects and ignore the practical is a very bad delusion. I believe it is one of the reasons why nigeria is still the way it is. Why should a pharmacist have to wait for a SLT graduate before he can set up his lab, he knows the apparatus he needs and what is neccessary for his job? why should a mechanical engineer who will be responsible for our machines and other equipment not be able to apply it practically. I believe this is fostered by the nigerian emphasis on passing exams. That is why an SSCE holder who does not advance further becomes economically trapped because he hasn't been taught to practically apply what he was taught. The fact is this, an OND or HND holder is a technician pure and simple. Take the time to better yourself, no time is lost. The reasons for getting an OND or HND vary but that should not hold you back from getting a B.Sc @HNDHolder The BTEC HND in the UK is held to be inferior to the B.Sc so I don't understand what you mean by the british way. @IAH where I stay, people with 5Ps enter the polytechnic so i am not surprised if people discriminate against them. The remedial programs(pre-poly) are also fraught with massive fraud and extensive exam malpractice |
@HNDHolder If I know anything about religion, I do know a lot about the catholic faith. I have read extensive reports written both by insiders and outsiders. Why I used the word tradition is simple. In catholic church, traditions are usually based on the following principle 1 that the tradition is something to be expected 2 because it is expected then it is right. example: the belief that mary being the earthly mother of christ cannot be allowed to die by god (refer to 1). Therefore because that was concieved to be the right thing then it was called church canon. HNDHolder, you point fingers at people but you forget that it also holds for you too, you follow the traditions of Abdrushin, founder of the grail message and as such your thinkiing is colored by that. As to the writing of the scripture, they were already in written form at the time of Christ. Read Early Isreal And Surrounding nations on www.gutenberg.net for more information about the culture of writing.Reading and writing was already present, though many could not read in either hebrew or greek (like many muslims can't read arabic in nigeria). The fact still remains that they held the scripture to be the sole arbiter of all disputes but the church maintains that tradition is superior. Take for example, the church talks about purgatory but ignores the idea of the existence of hell when purgatory can be proved to be non-existent and hell to be existent based on biblical fact. We Xtians hold the bible to be complete and believe it's writings were inspired by God and anything outside it that does not agree with anything inside it is not biblical. I am not Catholic, Protestant , Mormon or anything. I AM SIMPLY CHRISTIAN. |
@allenpowered One, cameroun would be committing suicide if they invaded nigeria. we don't even need guns, just hand every adult nigerian a machete and ask them to march towards yaounde, thats what a large population does for you. apart from that, the total no of camerounian armed forces(including police) stands at 13,000. while in nigeria we have 285,000 troops and countless paramilitary groups including OPC. Bakassi to count a few. Two, If we are invaded, i will simply switch to french and cross the Seme-border. life is too precious to be wasted fighting for one person's notion of patriotism. @HNDHolder you obviously sound like someone who believes science has an answer for everything. Religion is only irrational to the irreligious. Let me correct the fallacies in your post. While evolution is a damned good theory, it does not explain how we got here. I am a lover of physics and mathematix and based on what they tell me, i find it hard to believe we just got here by chance. Mathematically speaking the biblical creation myth is feasible. why? sit down with a calculator and find out how long it would take the human race to grow from two people to 6 point something billion people. The current belief now is that science can not presently prove creation to be wrong and faith alone cannot be used to prove creation as faith rests on belief not proof. Homosexuality is not a given. For it to be a given, it has to be widespread in other species like apes, pigs and canines but its not so we cannot claim it is. It is an abberration occasioned by cultural degradation. It is a cancer that eats at the family which is the basis of any nation or society and it is biologically incompatible with our features. It has always been punished and should continue to be. I will also like to inform you that evolution-based science is also a religion which seeks to remove the notion of a God. It seeks to make men look down at themselves instead of looking up at a God. As to the issue of miracles occuring, that is also dependent on the existence of a God,. If one exists, then there should be no obstacles he cannot surmount. And a true christian does not live by miracles, even paul had flaws that he glorified in as he considered them means by which he got closer to God. I do not compartmentalize learning, every new thing i learn about the human body and other feats of nature or science only create a better picture of how majestic a Creator there is who can create the best pattern-matching engine known (the brain) , pollution-cleaning systems (bacteria) and the best nuclear reactors (the sun and stars). @IAH Look at this scenario. The US decides to invade Costa Rica. Catholic priests pray on the Costa Rican side, baptists and others on the american side. who will god support. Note Jesus said: why do you war? is it not because of the desires of your heart which make you covet whats not yours? (forgive me if those are not the exact words but that is the gist of what i read.) |
@legry yes, my guy spread the word , girls should help the timid guys they really like and approach if they are sure the guy likes them @the guys seems we all get an ego boost when we are approached by girls, and so when we don't like the girls, instead of letting them down gently we shut them down in the most insulting way possible(maybe i am being extreme here). Guys should be able to be firm but polite. @cutie u don't need the pix yet . PM me and if your rhymes are right, we'll take it from there |
My Ideal Woman? well, that would be someone who laughs at my jokes, can understand me when i start speaking computer jargons(or if she can't she should be able to understand when i xplain). She should also not be a pansy but be able to take care of herself in all respects (note: she doesn't have to be perfect ). that says it all for me @funmibaby Scout around the romance forums for the one where seun was ragged with respect to his having a girl. |
@everyone I am quite willing to tell u the name of his girlfriend. just PM me for further details . All enquiries should be accompanied by a valid MTN or GLO card. ( tee hee hee)@Seun On the other hand , you might close my mouth by ...... (PM me and we'll talk aboutgreenmail ) |
this coming from the same CIA that saw nuclear weapons in Iraq, i find that hard to believe. maybe they published it because it serves their interest(At least a disordered Nigeria will allow Halliburton, cheney's company, to come back) |
@seun sorry to dissapoint you but nobody will be counted. we will only be tagged with purple fingerpaint and at the end they will choose the number that best maintains the staus quo and if that has changed they will choose the most politically acceptable number. NigeriaSat-1 is a waste. It should reveal their lies by showing us how a village with 40 roofs has a population of 5000. |
Ha ha. He must be forbidden from dreaming about it. Last election less than 10,000 people voted for him (in a country with 150 million people). things may have changed but based on past records he is a no-hoper. Secondly, the bible says"be no part of the world". So why is he so anxious to be president? He is better off angling for the post of chaplain of Aso Rock chapel. |
@ Angelgirl you can never be too keen. but in deference to seun i'll leave the thread and if moved i'll start one detailing links and topics buttressing my points. anyway, congrats, the church has sucessfully forgotten the crusades, the al Aqsa massacre and the Holocaust(where they stood by) |
Please weigh in on this argument between myself and a host of guys. They claim that it's biblical because the Isrealites were told to destroy the Canaanites. But the same God says we should not kill. Pastors on both sides of a conflict convince their faithful to fight for their country, telling them God is on their side. Soldiers take crucifixes and rosaries to war. I find it hard to believe that its biblical. What do you think? |
I don't see why you need to have a favourite pastor since the word of God is what matters. But there are some good pastors out there. E.A Adeboye is one. but i'll prefer not to name the dubious ones on the list. |
nice to hear the statistics but the manager did not tell us the kind of power station he meant. below is a quote from an article on wind power The initial cost of wind power is high. Installing a 1500-kW turbine with a 77-m rotor diameter and design life of 20 years costs $1.5 million, (Jacobson). Although this investment will save money in the long-run, the initial cost can be too high for many. On the bright side, just like all technologies, with more research and development, the cost of turbines and their installation should eventually decrease. while wind power is more environmentally friendly and requires less maintenance we don't hear of other technologies other than gas turbines which by the way are not cheap. what the above tells us is that compared to $5million for every MW, we get $1million per MW for wind energy. while this might still sound high. its more affordable and can be used anywhere unlike the gas turbines that require pipelines and stuff. I even heard NLNG prefers to sell gas to commercial customers rather than NEPA who buy it at N24 per litre compared to maybe N180 per litre commercially so expect a huge rise in tarriffs when they do start. |
@NairaEx If your visa card works , its a good idea . i have been searching for a low cost way of making foreign payments . i even went as far as getting domiciliary accounts but nipost/ems have ended that with the report i just heard that they have started tearing up checks sent by mail to foreign institutions and companies. that has affected innocent users like us (and its one of the reasons i hate nipost) |
i believe that as long as you have anything above 5oo naira you can start a business in nigeria provided you are ready to do it and wait for it to break even. If you are not too shy or proud these are a few you could do. 1. if u have a phone buying a booster card is too easy. u can start this anywhere. your room mates can make calls. but u might find this below you so here's another one. 2. you can get yourself a camera and learn how to snap pictures. a camera might cost less than 2000 naira. maximum 3000 naira. other things you might need would include batteries and films. you don't need a shop , you can do it on the move. snapping pixs at church conventions, schools and stuff. again this requires that you shouldn't be scared of perceptions (you said that people mind their biz so you shouldn't have problems with either). 3. If there is a spare tv at home and the kids in your area are not so knowledgeable about games or they don't have access to one, you can start your own arcade centre. the only problem with this is that it might need a shop and this is the ageof the playstation, Sega genesis or megadrive may not sell that fast. there are other things you can do but these are the ones i could suggest offhand. find out more about your area and see if you can start supplying anything with 4000 naira. stay cool |
@pinky i agree with u. why anybody won't be impressed by that i don't know. Tv has created the impression that that works. So its a shock that it doesn't work in your case. of course other factors will always affect the issue. |
diakim its $250 not $2500. The earlier offer was more expensive. this came out last week and they claim they want to democratize debit and credit card ownership. First 5000 cards free. I know because i visited standard chartered whenthey came out with their offer and i have called this bank too and they said "two hundred fifty" |
i agree with angelgirl and seun that there should be no criticism. It is only allowed in objective areas and not issues of faith. @allenpowered you school in IB. i might run into you one of these sundays. i worshipped there for a while and i still visit from time to time (especially when i am late for other church services or when i am travelling.) @angelgirl holding convictions or beliefs is easy but the true test of your belief is being able to stand up to an attack on those beliefs. |
). anyway , we hope our schools will improve and convince more of our prodigal kids to come home.
