I hope there are in-house lawyers here i would like to ask for help with reference to the NEPA act that set up the organisation itself. I would like to know whether any individual with sufficient income can set up an independent power project of his own and still be within the law. (maybe serving a small community). . I have got an idea for renewable energy generation and i would like to know if there is any thing i should know . |
but nigeria is not yet a cashless economy. that is bound to create difficulties |
loomboc:@loomboc with all you have said you still say that people should have four kids . well coming from a family of eight kids four might seem small but i come from a family of five kids and i know that it is a strain sometimes. I believe three should be the maximum in this age of medical advances and economic austerity. Preferably have those kids within the first five years of marriage and spend the next 40 years raising, training and marrying off your kids. It would make it easier to train them and apart from that smaller families tend to form closer bonds compared to a family where the oldest is 20 and has to come home from uni to celebrate his little sister's naming ceremony (imagine that) |
Has anybody heard about the MasterCard/Maestro offered by stb . initial cost is $250 (roughly 40,000 naira)? That's more affordable than the one offered by Standard Chartered. The only problem is the fact that ATMs are not as widespread as in other countries, (in car parks, markets, commercial districts etc). |
dominobaby:@Dominobaby its not scary for you to get angry at very long intervals of time. psychologists will tell you any normal individual knows that there are times you should get angry and times you should be reserved. I don't go around frowning and growling. i just smile and when neccessary i tell people exactly what i think of them or show them how i feel ( ) its also not humane for a woman to slap a man in the course of an argument especially in an environment like nigeria. it is more humiliating than a punch and is tatamount to asking for a beating from a less matured individual. |
I will like to introduce you to a site i just learnt about. its called the Gutenberg Project. www.gutenberg.net you can download over a million ebooks and novels. I download around seven novels every time i surf the net. its a cheap way to read more. @mamba you are lucky its on the web or i would have reached over and strangled you. better lover is not reading material its just a way for you to over-exercise your neurotransmitters without any physical stimulation (in your own case i don't know what you do for stimulation) |
tayotina:@tayotina what happens if its your home, maybe on your couch with your best friend, roomate, family friend etc and they don't seem apologetic but irritated that you distracted them from such serious business they were involved. Do you go nuts or just politely ask them to shift the venue of the games to a physically safer place? I can't predict what i would do personally. these things don't always go rationally, we are talking about love and betrayal here. I might go nuts and beat the stuffing out of the guy (note that i did not say the girl, you can't force someone to love you.) I might just tell them in the politest voice possible to "Get the F%@k out of my f@%king house" ![]() |
@Greatpeter I would advise you to make it known to her that you don't like it and that it doesn't bode well for her in future (unless she can beat you up without a sweat , then i advise you to smile, thank her and run.) If she slaps you now, she might throw plates and pots in future or worse she will tear up your most loved article of clothing (in public) . U also haven't told us whether you were at fault and whether it was a crime that deserved a slap like she caught in flagrante delicto with her best friend (in that case she sould pour boiling water on both your tired selves). @everyone else. that would not happen to me cos i am someone who is quite reserved by nature but anyone around me male or female always recognizes that fact that behind the glove is a fist and that i can be raving mad when i want to. its all about establishing boundaries. This things start progressively, she starts with tapping you during arguments, then pushing, then slapping, later beating, biting and the throwing of missiles (for men, after pushing they move to slapping, punching and then the ultimate , kicking) |
oamen:Maybe you should refer to CNN transcripts of an interview of the Match.com entrepreneur. He found out that out of 2000 couples that met online, around 50 made it to the altar. Now mathematics tells us that something with a probability of 2.5 out of 100 is not likely to happen. Add that to the Nigerian phenomenon of boys masquerading as girls online for the sake of these pieces of paper we call money. Maybe that's why drwhopl claims Nigerian girls are greedy. He has fallen victim to "boys in girls clothing!" ![]() |
I agree that Skype is a nice alternative to conventional phone networks, but there is a problem as Seun said. Many cybercafes have downloaded it but I haven't seen one that actually works. I even got an idea at one time to start a small biz using DirectTV technology to access the net and then use the skype network to undercut other international call providers It didn't work. Luckily, it was not my money and the guy turned the thing into a match viewing centre. @exago, I assume the network uses licensed radio frequencies or NCC might get you. Well most of us use VSAT networks so that is no comfort. ![]() |
it is well known that he was a war profiteer and he looted banks and supermarkets in biafra even though he claimed to have given up the loot on ascending power |
@seun I am not a backslider as I am still a christian but I have encountered many irregularities and I find it hypocritical to still call myself a catholic in spite of my disagreements with the faith (which sadly cathechism has not healed) @practising catholics answer the following questions? What is the relevance of the bible verse in one of the gospels which names the brothers of jesus? if indeed they were named is Mary still EVER VIRGIN. even if she did not give birth to any other kid, does that mean she was chaste forever in light of the jewish tradition of reconsummating marriages every friday. Is church tradition superior to the bible? if not then why does the bible claim that mary did not die when it is only church tradition that came into the common consciousness close to 2 centuries after Jesus crucifixion? Where in the bible is it stated that catholics get to absolve their sins after death (In purgatory)? there are more questions but I believe you won't be able to answer them because like me u have been bred to believe that " blessed are those that don't see but believe" when a different verse states that we should test what we are told (check thessalonicans or search for berea in any online bible.) Half of you don't know if there is any biblical basis for your beliefs. Check these topics 1. the trinity 2. purgatory 3. jesus being the only way (christianity) to the exclusion of other ways (or religions) 4. sainthood and whether it agrees with no 3(jesus the only intercessor) 5. bowing to the statue or painting of jesus at easter |
mamba:It seems that's what's reigning now. I've even seen some girls that look like but they still claim they are modelling part time.
@mamba well as to those girls, well they are usually used for contrast as in "If he/she(as ugly as he/she is) can look good in that dress then I can " |
we will get there. But remember south africa has commissioned a sound stage for their industry . maybe what nollywood needs is govt intervention. They also need to refine their techniques and focus on using demographics to their advantage(example: in the US they release films in june(summer) to satisfy the 18 and below age range. maybe nollywood should focus on the festivals; easter, xmas and co and not just mass produce 25 films a week (according to CNN)) |
trish:Trish, you can't touch clouds so I know that's just an expression I guess you have heard about the leopards that are stalking them and a species of snake called "no tommorrow" that permanently resides there. I guess that is not enough to deter anyone from making money by risking their lives. They also have to airlift you if you are mauled by animals when anybody knows bad weather can prevent the copters from reaching you. |
The Hoopla About Modelling maybe its me but i find it funny that when i ask girls what they do aside from schooling they all claim to be models. If u check the sun page 3 pictures, they all claim to be models. of course its lucrative but there can't be that many models or maybe i am the one missing out on a lucrative opportunity(start modelling underwear for armani or suits for dakova, ) |
Well, let's be serious. You guys are just plain scared. Any biologist would tell you it's not natural for females to approach males unless there is an adverse effect that will occur to the male (like the black widow spider that eats the male after sex though the male has developed a way of escaping by spinning some sweet yarn to keep the female occupied.) Of course, it would be nice if we could cut through the red tape. In the words of John Nash of Beautiful Mind fame, "since the purpose of approaching you is intercourse lets cut to chase" |
@delarontus. my sis tells me u have to have a minimum of two board members b4 u can start a company. that means someone who is a one man operation like me cannot start one ![]() |
I heard that Microsoft is releasing a new version of the Xbox. Said to have multimedia features, built-in camera, and a few other features. Well, we'll check to see if its worth the hype, though Xbox was the bomb. I guess that's why Nintendo has postponed their release till next year. |
Nice that they have finally created one. I used to visit the 82nd's website and it was quite ugly especially the way the tiger on the site was painted garishly. There is also a problem with this site. It loads slowly and wastes surfing time. As to NITDA, it's just another Nigerian beaurucracy with the aim of frustrating individuals with the aim of doing something useful. |
thanks seun for the map and thanks to all of you but seun i thought of something (why not send it across the sahara desert :-D) . ha ha ha |
its because of the election campaign. they are hitting blair because they claim he allows illegal immigrants(meaning nigerians) to enter. pity the poor man he doesn't want to lose his seat. |
nothing bad about it other than the fact that they will drive their kids crazy with their occupational jargon (You need to be there when my cousins and my dad get together and start speaking in medical terms, they might as well be speaking in greek or urdu) but if its a tasking profession that yakes them away from each other it might cause marital difficulties like doctors on call 24 hours or actors and actresses at different locations . if the wife outpaces the husband academically it might cause trouble in some homes. |
i won't advise it unless they also maintain other accounts and decide what has to be done with the money. here are some scenarios. 1. the husband dies and the family members get hold of the passbook while the wife is still grieving and with the aid of forgers they withdraw all their life savings as their own spoils. 2. the wife makes more money than the husband and the husband decides to teach her a lesson ...... by making off with her hard-earned money 3. or worse the wife loses her life because of the greedy nature of her hubby. |
seun:I believe you should discipline your kids, why? because its character-forming. If you grew up in a family where you were caned for errors or bad behaviour it would become clear to you after some time that its for your own good and after some time it becomes second nature. The inherent politeness or discipline in african kids is because parents take time to discipline their kids. Agreed parents have not wised up to the fact that they need to be closer to their kids as this would reduce uneccessary punishment. This is because fathers still see themselves as breadwinners and taskmasters/disciplinarians and not as nurturers. in schools, i believe corporal punishement should be made an article of law but a punishment journal might be instituted in schools for logging punishments and the degree of and reason for the punishment. this would reduce victimisation due to the fact that teachers know there is a written record (this might be kept by specially appointed class monitors). It would reduce the hedonism and unruly behaviour that is sweeping the nation. |
Let's add a new perspective to this. When you view world events the question that usually comes to mind is "can this happen here?" Now Imagine this. Somehow, Atiku and all the other contestants are disqualified and Gbenga Obasanjo is seen as the major candidate (or even the only candidate after EFCC has finished with the other contestants.) What would you do? Nothing! |
Sanction ke? Thanks to China, oil is at an all time high and if Nigeria decides not to sell oil for just five weeks, the US economy risks heading for a recession. Check for weak dollar on Google. It's time we stopped paying for all inherited debts. If they don't play ball then we will play hardball. |
i meant love as gleaned from novels, books and the entertainment media. these books create unrealistic expectations (though it might be possible for some people to find love but i believe its a very scarce commodity and that what most people call love is either infatuation + lust or companionship + lust) |
What would you need to create broadband internet access? I am curious. a friend is thinking along the line of using the NITEL infrastructure to provide broadband Internet access. I always thought the problem was connection speed between the individual customers and the provider in Nigeria but it seems there is a problem with queuing at the satellite. Is there an alternative to using satellites and if there is what are they? |
nice design scott. you definitely have the talent and will go a long way. Seun has said it all. |
