TheGoodJoe: There is no two stories. Taiwo never knew that they heard him until Sylvanus Okpala exposed him..
Finito. Keshi had a lot of issues during Afcon 2013 ...It took Keshi time to really understand that Daniel Amokachie was working against him...prior to Amaju Pinnick emergent as NFF president,he was one of those that criticized Keshi heavily and plotting secretly for Sunday Oliseh to coach Super eagles the moment he became NFF president. |

TheGoodJoe:
Taiwo felt he was too big for Keshi to play Echiejile ahead of him. Because of that, he decided to rally with the players to make Keshi fail.
No coach will take such a player. Unfortunately, Keshi kept the names of the players secret. He just saw them off with style.
However, Sylvanus made it public recently because of Taiwo trying to change the story. Oga pls let's talk about our WC qualifier match against Ghana....Stephen Okechucwu Keshi is late and he will be remembered for winning Afcon as a player and as a coach, reaching WC second round, first to captain Super eagles to WC,longest serving captain 1984-1994....a player that was banned from national team and NPFL by Anthony Ikhazobo for playing for New Nigeria bank in Wafu cup final but couldn't make it to camp on a deadline date.He ran away to Ivory coast and was signed by stade of Abidjan when he thought he had no hope.He move to Belgian league from Ivory coast to sign for Lokeren and moved to giant Anderlecht after a season. The first Nigerian to play in any major European cup final, against Sampdoria....Stephen Keshi didn't for once criticized NFA for his expelled from football in Nigeria. He made it possible for the likes of Austin Eguavoen,Samson Siasia,Ademola Adeshina,Osaro Obabaifo,Andrew Uwe and many more to come to Belgium for Pro career....The highest Super eagles defender with goals till date. He has done well no matter how some would like to paint him bad....till today no Nigeria player ex or active love Nigeria Super eagles than Stephen Okechucwu Keshi. I challenge anyone to come out where Stephen Okechucwu Keshi was indicted for bribery. RIP the Big boss. |

Our local coaches are shady bros ,but I like the eguavoen I see Andrew, did you know that Daniel Amokachie made France 98 team as injured player...did you know Emma Amuneke was not really fit for Atlanta 96...Ben Iroha was half fit prior to US 94.....when coaches believe in a player it happen...If you don't know it was glaring that Chiedozie Awaziem was injured prior to just concluded Afcon but technical crew believe they can manage it and if Nigeria progressed we would have seen Awaziem. |

Joezinho: Are some of our NT coaches not corrupt?
We r not deliberating Obasi’s worthiness in that squad.
He didn't play the qualifiers, did they call him and he refused? Emmanuel Sarki also said he was asked for a bribe in 2013 to play for the SE. How did players like Uche Nwofor , Uchebo, Babatunde Michael make the team ahead of Brown Ideye, Aluko, Obafemi martins and Uche Ikechukwu?
We have been to 6 world cups, the only ones tainted with allegations of corruption in player selection were the 2002 and 2014 WC squads selected by Nigerian coaches.
One of our major problems as a nation is that once we support someone, he can do no wrong in our eyes and will make excuses for their shortcomings. We do it with our politicians and that's why they've taken us for a ride! I remember Obafemi Martins was invited against Kenya and to be sincere not the same Obagoal.....Ike Uche fall out with Keshi during 2013 Afcon and no coach will take a player to WC who don't follow his instructions....Ideye indifferent form didn't do justice to his exclusion...remember Keshi didn't want Osaze just cos during 2008 Olympic,Osaze criticized Siasia openly and 2010 WC criticized the technical team for preferred Chinedu Obasi ahead of him,no coach wants such player but Keshi was prevailed on he made the team but they still had little disagreements. Chinedu Obasi and Emma Sarki allegations are baseless cos as at then they can't make the team.....Obasi was having injury crises and Sarki cannot even make Nigeria number five super eagles team. |

Let's see how it all pans out sir. Joe,Libya 1982 was our worst Afcon not Ivory coast 1984 cos we reached final and lost to highly experienced Indomitable of Cameroon...I remember 22 years old Stephen Keshi captained the team with two experienced players in Muda Lawal and Henry Nwosu who was 17 years old during 1980 afcon and still young at 23 in 1984..we missed Peter Rufai in the final due to injury and Patrick Okala a junior bro to Emma Okala couldn't do it as Rufai. |

TFLASHOGEE: rueben Gabriel played the qualifiers and also got a goal leading to the world cup but you came here posting obasi that has no input leading to the world cup and also claiming he ought to be in the Squad like it his birth right just to prove our local coachs are being shady Thank you my man....Juwon Oshaniwa was like Mike Emenalo of US 94 who came in for Ben Iroha and did well...Oshaniwa replaced inured Echiejele and did well in 2014 WC....Kunle Odunlami and Egweke were the best in NPFL and better than Kenneth Otigba who was Hungary based...Gabriel Reuben was Keshi project and if not for injury the guy would have be what we all know Ndidi for today...Uche Nwafor and Uchebo the two who I believe didn't deserved to be in team came in as a result of Ike Uche criticism of Keshi tactics and Brown Ideye form but to me the Ike and Ideye deserved to make the team....Uzoenyi was a CHAN revelation,so sometimes it happened. This team gave us Afcon and reached WC second round,no matter the criticisms. |

Checkout well schooled ex players like Mike Emenalo a boston university graduate,Adokiye Aimeasemeka former Attorney general,Segun Odegbami an Egnr.,Jonathan Akpoborie buffalo university graduate,Felix Owolabi who is a PhD holder, even most ex NPFL who are graduates don't lobby for NFF jobs. This hijab issue will cost Kwara state governor second term cos CAN would rather support a liberal Muslim as next governor...what a greenlight for Bukola Saraki and PDP to come back....the Kwarans I know hate wahala, even the Muslims in Kwara State will rather vote APC out to have peace.
It's a pity the governor failed to realized that Hijab issue would be used against him even by Muslim opposition in coming election. He need to go back and ask the previous administrations on how they managed the issue.
Presently, the governor has lost 35% of votes that gave him victory in the last election,so I don't know how he is going to handle this serious issue.....I see PDP coming back cos all Kwarans, irrespective of religion want is peace and they are ready to sacrifice anything for peaceful and liberal governor cos Kwara is a state of harmony. |

CandyOps: Most of you guys are just hating on the goalie because of say na fine boy notwithstanding his outstanding rating in EPL.
I find it surprising when I read a post about "if Maduka is fit to be Nigerian goal keeper" on Nairaland. I didn't bother commenting because most Nigerians were just bitter they got kicked out of the tournament and were overeacting.
The team that knocked us out of the tournament only had 1 shot on target the entire first half... and were lucky to hit target. It was an amazing screamer of a shot and good enough to trouble any good goalie. So it's safe to say Maduka wasn't really tested during the tournament because our defense was solid but it's just pure ignorance to call him underrated... except you no dey watch him football before now. Or you just want to hate on him because of say na fine boy Oga mi,see where you end your well analytical view"hate him cos he is a fine boy"...I don't discuss football with emotive and sentimental people....damn funny cos he is a fine boy. |

Joezinho: Signor, I know chief Odegbami was a terrific player in his days short of old clips I've seen of him.. From what I've seen it looks likes he was a great dribbler and a good goal scorer but truthfully sir, many of the Green Eagles players during his era were average players compared to the SE players since 1994. They looked good against each other (IICC shooting Stars vs Rangers), but their averageness showed whenever they faced a team with semi-pro players. The only players from that era that could have made the modern era Super Eagles teams were Okala, Chukwu , Odegbami and Muda Lawal...
My point once again, is that Odegbami was a natural forward playing on the wings for the national team hence his high returns on goals while Finidi was a pure winger/ Right sided midfielder... Do you think Uche Okafor, Thompson Oliha,Alloy Agu,Wilfred Agbonavbre,Emeka Ezeugu,Mike Emenalo would have made 1980 AFCON team...Pls add Adokiye Aimeseamaka,Felix Owolabi,Henry Nwosu,Best Ogedegbe to 1980 players who have everything to make 1994 team. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Kog45(m): 1:04pm On Jan 31, 2022 |
Joezinho: I don't know how many assists he had for the super eagles but Finidi was a right sided midfielder, while Odegbami played no 7 for the Green Eagles but was a No 10 for IICC (Shooting stars) so in essence Chief Odegbami was a forward masquerading as a winger, while Finidi was a winger and not a forward hence the difference in their goal scoring statistics for Nigeria.
And also the era of Odegbami was a weak period in African football compared to Finidi's. That was a time that Burkina Faso ( Upper Volta) used to collect 7 goals from the Green Eagles and the likes of Ivory Coast, Senegal and even Egypt chopped 4 goals from the Green Eagles.. The only real competition for Nigeria in the Odegbami era were the North African teams like Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt and later Algeria. In West Africa, our only rivals were Ghana and Guinea..
Nigeria's opponents in the Finidi era were made of sterner stuff..
Finidi not only scored the crucial goal that qualified us for the WC in Algeria but also scored and set up goals in the WC.. Sir,Segun Odegbami remain Nigeria all time best winger....the same Burkina Faso was Finidi launching pad, came in for Austin Eguavoen and made three assists,if I can recollect Nigeria beat Burkinabes 7-1.....I can't really recollect when Green Eagles beat Upper Volta 7-1 in Odegbami era. In Green eagles era only two team can make it to the world cup and this really affected our chances,1978 would have been our maiden appearance but own goal by Godwin Odiye denied us.The same team went ahead and won 1980 Afcon just to tell you how good was the team....the only difference between 1980 Green eagles and 1994 super eagles was US 94 appearance. Pls go and watch Odegbami clips and you will realized that Odegbami in 90s would have benched Finidi and dwarf Yekini....quite agreed with you on Odegbami as winger in CF ability but fact remain Odegbami was a winger with ability to score goals and create chances but Finidi was a pure winger and nothing more. My man Segun Odegbami was a class...I doff my hat for him when he quit the game due to then Oyo state governor Colonel Oladayo Popoola undue interference in running IICC shooting stars, disbanded the team for losing to Zamalek. |

I seriously hope we get a good goalie before we face ghana because the ones we have are all suspects… The keeper position is likely the position you need the most experience in.
Why doesn’t the incompetent and inept NFF have someone like Vincent Enyeama scouting potential Goalkeepers of Nigerian heritage that would be interested in playing for Nigeria so there is competition for the spot? Sir,do we really need Enyeama to do that....a university coach Amusa Adisa gave Enyeama needed opportunity against England, with just a cap against Kenya and no international exposure even on Africa soil....the same university coach gave Ejide and Aiyenugba the chance. |

PurpleHouse: Absolutely right.
Uzohor is the short term solution for that.
I still don't understand how you bench a keeper with world cup and Afcon experience for a rookie in Maduka Okoye? Whoever made that decision deserves to be sack from the team. Maduka Okoye agent really tried.Imagine not talented div 4 keeper gotten a national team invitation and a young world cup keeoer(Uzoho)got relegated to the bench without any cutting edge from Okoye....Okoye elevation was a scam and good enough it skyrocket his club career...Rohr and Agu need to be investigated cos I saw business between Okoye agent and Rohr or Agu....but Eguavoen showed that he doesn't have the ball when it comes to certain decisions,it was glaring against GB that Uzoho was better.....anyone can bookmarks this....with Okoye in goal Ghana match would be very difficult to win. Super eagles deserve solid Keeper. |

That was how Ezenwa came blistering with potential untill fowl yansh open. Na only God fit help us for GoalKeeper matter.
But. Me think what we need madly is a solid AM. Once we solve that, we can cope and score more goals even if we conceed. We tend to depend too much on wingers. Those days are long gone. Rohr made same mistake in 2019. We need a solid midfield to solidify our wingers and make us compact.
We can do wonders if we qualify for Qatar. Agreed on AM but I want to tell you that poor goalkeeping will destroy a good team....I said it here that our goalkeepers will cost us Afcon and Okoye did that against Tunisia. |
