PoliticsRe: Federal Character Breeds Mediocrity - Sanusi by kolexy(m): 11:07pm On Dec 06, 2012
Jarus: What influence? But Obasanjo did not appoint Soludo, a fellow southerner.

He may not be Nigeria's no 1 economic brain, but it is hardly possible to point to one person as most qualified. So once you pick someone from a pool of qualified folks, that's merit enough. Even if Sanusi was a southerner, as the GMD of the largest financial group in Nigeria, his name could still have come up as qualified contender. After all, a southerner, Joseph Sanusi, became CBN governor from the same First Bank's CEOship seat. So what are we saying. Na beans to become GMD of FBN.
Joseph Sanusi was CBN Deputy Govervor before he was pushed to prevent him from becoming Governor. He was appointed CEO of UBA, and later Firstbank.

That makes their costs too high.
They use gas, and gas us quite cheap in Nigeria.

VolvoS60: ^^^^Sir, my instincts tell me this debate is a lost cause. But I'm holding on because I haven't placed you in one of the categories of posters I referred to earlier. (your main supporter on this thread though, is prime-grade category 2 material.)

Sir, I am not confused about what an OPL means. Not at all. Your technical explanation above about the process of prospecting is not necessary. The issues at stake are the transparency (or more appropriately, the lack thereof) and ethics of the PROCESS OF ALLOCATING the OPL by the Federal Government of Nigeria and its agents.

Is it clear now?

It is dishonest of you to airily claim that you "are not denying cronyism and nepotism as far as our elites are concern" when nearly everything you have said so far points in that direction. We are not children.
Winning an Oil block does not guarantee success. You can ask Kola Abiola and coy that have explored the so called 'oil rich' Nigerian - Sao Tome owned JDZ. The area where Agbami block lies, was largely unexplored in the early '90s. Most powerful people got block in ND swamps and shallow waters. This is why the woman claimed nobody wanted 'to go there'. She most likely got the block due to her association with the Babangidas, but it takes sheer courage to invest in that area in the early '90s.

Clerverly: Which UBA?
The 1 owned by Messrs Ifeanyi UBAH and Chris UBA
BusinessRe: UBA Named 'African Bank Of The Year. by kolexy(m): 1:56am On Dec 01, 2012
BTT: First, congratulations to UBA. I am sure most of you would have been happier if it were given to some foreign banks. Keep it up guys.

Too, even though anybody can 'organise' an award for anybody, in this case the awarding body is a proven entity. Not one Nnamdi Amuda & Co trying to shore up favours and reward it's client.

Three, I neither bank nor work with either banks- but I know that UBA's customer care at the RETAIL end shivers in comparison to GTb's. But then, banking business is beyond the nods and genuflects you get when you bring (or come to take) your monthly meager N20,000. (Maybe another body who rates banks based on other specific parameters-like customer care experience, tech and innovation, corp soc res, shareholders base/fund etc. may come up with something to massage our expectations). When it comes to consumer banking-where banking matters- inter alia, like financing and access to it, GTb crumbles at the feet of UBA. It is beyond PHYSICAL gatelessness. No, it is beyond it.

Fourthly, even though it may be true that our national banking history rubbishes the integrity of awards, it is not untrue that awards-the world over- will always be given and used as a tool for motivation and recognition.

Take a deep breath. Think about it; with just what you see and know about both banks: Between GTb and UBA, who is actually financially strengthening Africa? Again, think about it.

My cup.
Who told you UBA is financially strenghtening Africa? The former MD Tony Elumelu is one cowboy banker who invested in some countries with GDP less than some LGA in Lagos. Do you think reasonable banks like GT and firstbank are not interested in opening business in Africa? Foreign expansion has to be properly planned and the benefit to the bottomline analysed. I'm priviledge to have seen some classified docs from 1 of the banks I mention on business in some African countries. The returns on capital is just too low for the bank. The former head if UBA was a star marketer who rose too fast without learning 'Banking'.

Sagamite: Thank you! Don't mind the fucktards like shymexxx.

Nigeria's oil is being shared by some few and the criteria of getting a share is likely to be one the following:

- You are one of the corrupt leaders making the decision
- You have some political power the corrupt leaders making the decision respect
- You are a relative of one of the corrupt leaders making the decision
- You have bribed the corrupt leaders making the decision
- You are male bosom friends and part of the clique of one of the most powerful men amongst the corrupt leaders making the decision
- You can do something "extremely special" for one, or most likely many, of the corrupt leaders making the decision

Your guess is as good as mine which of the criteria she was able to meet to get an oil block.

While fucktards like shymexxx call her a shrewd business women. Fcking cretinous hoodrat with a poor education that one has to keep reminding he is daft.

If our oil is being distributed based on merit, how come someone like Hakeem Belo-Osagie does not have a huge oil block considering he is a shrewd Harvard-educated businessman with a degree in petroleum economics, was a former special adviser to the Presidency on oil and petroleum and has millions of dollars he made from UBA to pay for it? Fucktards like shymexxx think he does not want an oil bloc? He is not qualified or rich enough to afford it? Fcking cretin!
How did Hakeem Bello Osagie acquire Goverment shares in UBA? Where did he make his money from, if not from goverment. Or is Havard a money making institution, or is it family money? The fact that Hakeem schooled at Havard does not make him smarter than the rest of us. You can mention some other folks, but not Bello Osagie.

Someone is worth USD600 million, and you call her the richest Woman in Nigeria. Cecilia had an account with NGN 500 billion. A single account! She no even fit get money rich Stella Oduah.

gulfer: I have always maintained that OBASANJO should be tried for a lot of things including extrajudicial killings in Odi, economic sabotage etc. Why give such an important road to someone like Babalakin whose construction company did not build his house? He should get charged for all the deaths on this road as his inactions/actions of dismantling all the toll gates and consequently all the weight bridges as well as awarding a construction contract to his stooge (Babalakin)
It was Yar'adua/GEJ goverment that awarded him the contract. Babalakin was particularly close to Yar'dua, he was an Honourary Special adviser.

PoliticsRe: Ifeanyi Ubah's Assets Frozen Worldwide by kolexy(m): 10:27pm On Nov 15, 2012
Billyonaire: The issue has nothing to do with Governmenr connection, Uba entered a jv partnership with Maduka and swindled him. Its as simple as that. Do not bring politics into a dubious business mentality of Uba. Access Bank has to be paid, Maduka needs his return on investment; Uba simply took advantage of the subsidy verification process to hold acess bank and coscharis to ransome even when he took delivery of the last 4 shipments and diverted the products to foreign tank farms and sold them abroad. Uba has no choice than to beg diplomatically, anything other than that, he will lose everything he has. Uba isn't a nice guy.
I thought the deal was between Ubah and Cosharis? Maduka only used is connection with Access bank to secure the loan. Access should have left Maduka to sort out his problem. They are only taking advantage of Aig's closeness to GEJ to harrass the Young 'fraudster'. While I'm not holding brief for Uba, I think it should be Maduka vs Ubah and not Access bank/Maduka vs Ubah.
