sukkot: that’s my ends Bruv 😄😄😄😄😄 I am very familiar with the salford area. Runs right alongside cheetham hill. Like some buses you get from cheetham hill to the city center passes through salford. I had this barber he was very good too, his salon was in salford. Zaire guy
TGIF.
Salford... Really? That's awesome Sukkot. I thought you were majorly based in London. You have really been around yourself. From the UK, to Canada, the U.S. (Chitown and more), Nigeria, etc. You're a real travel nomad.
Babatundehy: They had some money before they could relocate, and that's in the millions, if the couple could raise that amount to travel to go clean asses and do dirty work Brits who didn't attend high school will not take then the intelligence and smartness of the couple should b questioned, it takes a few seconds to find out how hard and nasty this job is, how little it pays, the risks involved, and how difficult it is to switch from it.
The woman's husband is a failure for not using his brains to guide his wife and family properly, they could have used the relocation money to set up a trade here, do something, how would caregiving and studying law there give her child a better life? Is this because they're in the UK? How many Brits have better lives? How many lawyers there still need their parents help or live with them and can't have a family of their own because they're poor, law isn't even a profession through which anyone easily have a financial breakthrough, her educational background is already an enemy.
I always tell people this when I hear bankers, lecturers, graduates reducing themselves to nasty low paying jobs in the UK all in the name of a better life, you're a fool, to have all that education and decide your destiny lies in dealing with saliva and pee.
I'm a graduate, of course I'm unemployed but I work from home, went into tech, make more than 500k a month, sometimes I make that in one week (pay isn't fixed), there are things you just know you're bigger than, let's stop being foolish and following stupid trends, you see these idiots making videos about care job sponsorships and all that nonsense In their basement and or slice of space they call house, stupid folks selling themselves into modern slavery, let every intending foolish Nigerian read this and learn
This isn't about starting small, you're not starting anything by earning what's not enough for rent and good food by standing 8 hours or more packaging orders in an Amazon warehouse or meat factory or washing asses, you'll be depressed, have your health in shambles and eventually die achieving nothing, the most high created you for more than being an ass cleaner for your fellow man.
Nicely put.
To break into the top league of lawyers and attorneys in the UK or the U.S., you have to belong to the league of those who have a very strong network of influence and that takes a lot of time. For a lot of immigrants who follow the legal studies route, they tend to gravitate more towards practicing as immigration lawyers.
FreeStuffsNG: Why I regret relocating abroad – Femi Brainard opens up on being Uber driver [VIDEO]

NO APOLOGIES After decades of improving women's education levels, workforce participation and social mobility, Chinese authorities now face a dilemma as the same group of women have become increasingly resistant to their propaganda.
Long-term single lifestyles are gradually becoming more widespread in China, giving rise to online communities of mostly single women who seek solidarity from like-minded people.
Posts with the hashtags "No marriage, no children" from female influencers often in their thirties or forties on Xiaohongshu, China's Instagram, regularly gain thousands of likes.
One anti-marriage forum on Douban, another social media platform, has 9,200 members, while another dedicated to "singleism" has 3,600 members who discuss collective retirement plans, among other topics.
Liao Yueyi, a 24-year-old unemployed graduate in the southern city of Nanning, recently declared to her mother that she "wakes up from nightmares about having children". "No marriage or kids is a decision I've made after deep consideration. I don't owe anyone an apology, my parents have accepted it," she posted on WeChat.
Instead she has decided to "lie flat" - a Chinese expression that means doing just enough to get by - and save money for future travels.
"I think it's okay to date or cohabit, but children are a huge asset investment with minimal returns," she said, adding that she has discussed renting a house with some female friends when they all retire.
Many of the women interviewed cited a desire for self-exploration, disillusionment with patriarchal Chinese family dynamics and a lack of "enlightened" male partners as the main factors behind their decision to stay single and childless.
Gender equality also plays a role: all the women said it was difficult to find a man who valued their autonomy and believed in equal division of household labour.
"There's an oversupply of highly educated women and not enough highly educated men," said Xiaoling Shu, professor of sociology at the University of California, Davis. Decades of the one-child policy have led to 32.3 million more men than women in 2022, according to official data.
"College-educated women become stronger believers in advocating for their rights and status in society," Shu said. "Well-educated women in search of supportive life partners find fewer suitable men who also endorse women's rights."
While not all the women interviewed identified as feminist or viewed themselves as deliberately defying the government, their actions reflect a broader trend of Chinese female empowerment expressed through personal choices.
And even though some analysts believe that the number of people who remain single for life will not grow exponentially in the future, delayed marriages and falling fertility are likely to pose a threat to China's demographic goals.
"In the long run, women's enthusiasm for marriage and childbirth will only continue to decrease," said feminist Lü.
"I believe this is the most important long-term crisis that China will face."
What an incredible presentation loaded with information about Repatriation- Diasporans moving back to Nigeria strategically.
Believe me, Japada is as popular as Japa but rarely mentioned. Yes, those of us in Japada group are too plenty. There's no place with true happiness like home.
Until you live far away from your loved ones and all alone and Isolated in foreign country, you'll not appreciate Nigeria.
Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Niger State counterpart, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago today signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Produce-For-Lagos initiative.
The Produce-For-Lagos initiative is a long term strategic partnership between Niger and Lagos States, where Niger will produce food items (Paddy, Tubers, Legumes, Grains etc) and Lagos State will be the off taker.
The Farmers in Niger State will have a ready market for their produce while Lagos State citizens can be assured of availability and price stability of food items.
In the Long term, this initiative will create a ready supply of farm produce directly to the ongoing massive Lagos Food logistics in Ketu Ereyun, Epe.
iwaeda: The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has blamed the current inflation in the country on printing of trillions of naira during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari “without productivity.”
The minister spoke on Wednesday during an interface with the Senate Committee on Finance, saying “we are going to audit even the N22.7 trillion printed aimlessly.”
He said, “The N22.7 trillion printed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) through Ways and Means overdraft for the federal government from 2015 to 2023 landed Nigeria into hyper-inflation.
“We talked about inflation. Where has it come from? It came from 8 years of just printing money not matched by productivity. What happened was that for eight years, the weak were left to their own devices. It is the privileged few that took everything. That is the reality. So that money supply must be brought back.
“You distinguished senators have helped. You have given us the mandate to raise N7 trillion which we will do by sucking money from the market, using it to pay back the CBN and giving the government a balanced book. We are going to audit even the N22.7 trillion printed aimlessly.”
In his closing remarks, Chairman of the Committee, Senator Sani Musa (APC Niger East), said the interactive session would be a continuous exercise so that the committee would have the opportunity of being updated on the short and long term plans of the government on how to tackle the current economic situation of the country.
Wale Edun in the article and live sessions with the Senators CLEARLY indicted the past CBN leadership led by Emefiele and NOT the APC led by your former President.
ivolt: The writer has been fooled. He thinks he can help CBN on a goose chase.
The $26 billion is a figment of Cardoso's imagination. They needed a scapegoat for the falling Naira and they found Binance a good spot because some group of idiots kept posting Binance's USDT rates as the true exchange rate even though we know that USDT is not dollar and you don't need dollar to buy USDT.
With the fact that Binance has been banned in several western and anti-Chinese countries, the CBN latched on to it and label the platform the face of evil.
If the CBN believes that Binance determines Naira exchange rate, all it need do is to push its own agents or make deal with some BDC to register on the platform and manipulatively sell at the lower "true" rate so those quoting the rate will be forced to adapt or leave. It could alsoe have secretly pressured Binance to remove or limit the activities of the "manipulators". Binance did about a million dollar-Naira transactions per day. Imagine if the CBN opened its own kiosk to generate $1 million USDT at the true rate, the "manipulators", would run out of business or be forced to sell at the "true" rate.
But the government needed the theatrics, an external scapegoat that people can curse and attack for the bad economy. It is all showmanship.
In few months, the whole Binance issue will not be mentioned anymore and it will be quietly retired. We won't get any update about the $26 billion or the owners again after that.
I suspect that the CBN Gov. was referring to the huge Diasporan remittances, a large part of which may have been channeled into crypto. Just only 2 percent of Diasporan remittances get to Nigeria as hard currencies while the remaining 98 percent gets converted offshore to other financial assets and the USD equivalent is credited into the bank accounts of the Nigerian beneficiaries.
Islie: Obinna Iwuno, President of Stakeholders in Blockchain Technology Association of Nigeria (SiBAN), has refuted the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) claim that $26billion in crypto transactions could not be traced.
The CBN had raised concerns over the sum of $26 billion that flowed through Binance Nigeria over the past year from “unidentified sources”.
Iwuno explained that binance, a major cryptocurrency exchange, implements KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures, requiring users to verify their identities before trading.
Speaking on Channels TV on Tuesday, Iwuno argued that anonymity is impossible on centralized exchanges like binance due to mandatory KYC.
He said, “First of all we need to understand how these platforms work, here is KYC system which every platform implements.
“On binance, before you could even have an account to trade or perform any activity on binance, you must have done your KYC. That means every single person who had used binance or using binance is known.
“The other part also is the fact that these transactions on binance are on the blockchain which are not anonymous. What it means is that the whole world does not have access to your private information and transactions but when the law enforcement or government needs it, it can get it from binance.
“We have different cases of frauds, scams involving the Interpol, EFCC and different international police organization. Money floods into binance and the identity of the owner would be revealed.
“I am not faulting the CBN position but there are tools available that can be used to trace all of these things and binance cannot claim not to have access to information and transactions that happened on its platform. That is the point I am trying to make, all of these things can be verified and are all traceable.
“Several KYC measures they used, most of these crypto platforms use the BVN for KYC and acceptable documents are passport, NIN, drivers licence and permanent voters card.
“CBN is saying $26 billion is unidentified but they didn’t told us how they arrived at that. I can tell you these things are traceable, you cannot perform transactions on any platform as long as it passes through blockchain that it cannot be traced, and if you use the centralized exchange like binance it is finished because you cannot be on those platforms without your identity known.”
UyaiIncomparabl: Why was the life support machine turned off?
@Uyai,
She was already "brain dead" due to "brain haemorrhage" and the life support had to be turned off. So, just because you've started the "9 months journey" of rollercoaster "cravings and all" doesn't mean you shouldn't read properly for mental assimilation.
Cmanforall: I agree. They are not called maids in the medical field. But what will you call this kind of Caregiver (outside medical field) if its in Nigeria

sukkot: hehe nice one Chief. Hope you are not see iting this global affliction sha lol. It’s like it’s tough everywhere brother. Like someone turned on the heat in the cooker called earth. Many are starting to lose their minds
Lol... The "cooker" metaphor you used is apt. We've all had to spend more of our personal incomes globally but those of us who were prepared based on past economic cycles have adjusted.
The volcanic heat IMHO is everywhere! There's global hyperinflation and if global military tensions increase in the mid-East to the point where Iran militarily targets Israel directly, the world will truly know what's up with a spike in crude oil prices and countries will have to pay more for energy! My younger bruv who lives in Manchester with his fam and I spoke two days ago and the same issues prevail in terms of high cost of living (but folks who are prepared have adjusted by increasing their streams of income prior to this time and cutting costs).
blamingthedevil: Egypt 🇪🇬 devalues its pound, loses over 50% against US Dollars
Cash-strapped Egypt allows its currency to fall sharply against the dollar and hikes interest rates
CAIRO (AP) — The Egyptian pound slipped sharply against the dollar on Wednesday after the Central Bank of Egypt raised its main interest rate and said it would allow the currency's exchange rate to be set by market forces.
The measures were meant to combat inflationary waves and attract foreign investment as the country experiences a staggering shortage of foreign currency.
Following the announcement, the pound began floating and within hours lost more than 60% of its value against the dollar. By early afternoon, commercial banks were trading the U.S. currency at more than 50 pounds for $1, up from about 31 pounds for the dollar.
The central bank increased the key interest rate by 600 basis points to 27.75%. The overnight deposit and lending rate were also raised by 600 basis points to 27.25% and 28.25% respectively, the bank said in a statement.
Egypt depends a lot on tourism which is one of the major ways through which that country generates a lot of hard currencies from the foreign tourists visiting in order to see the Pyramid of Giza and more. With some ongoing global military tensions, folks are minimizing trips to volatile and potentially volatile regions of the world. Gaza shares borders with Egypt as well.
With hyperinflation comes civil unrests globally. No politician or government wants to face that kind of nightmare scenario because it has always led to election loses in the more developed democracies.
Cantonese: My brother, those were the days Nigerians called themselves one. Everyone shared what everyone had irrespective of tribe and religion.
Nostalgia is the right word.
Cheers bro.
@Cantonese,
Succinctly put. I appreciate your candid feedback on this travel thread, so that the younger ones can learn about some of the deep insights from back in the day.
References1: Binance will stop all transactions and trading in Nigeria's local currency after March 8 amid a country-wide crackdown on crypto exchanges that have been blamed by authorities for feeding a black market for foreign exchange.
It will stop supporting withdrawals after Friday and any remaining balances in Nigerian Naira will be automatically converted into Tether - a stablecoin whose value is pegged to the U.S. dollar.
Last week, Nigerian authorities detained two Binance senior executives on undisclosed charges as part of the crackdown. They were still in custody, their local lawyer said before a parliamentary committee on Monday.
Gistmedia10: A Nigerian man was left stunned after being slapped with an unexpected N400,000 surcharge just two hours after purchasing 10 doors for N1.6 million, sparking a heated quarrel with the seller. The sudden hike, attributed to the economic challenges facing Nigeria, escalated into a tense confrontation between the buyer and the store staff.
The buyer, who had already paid for the doors at the initial price, returned to the store for pickup only to be informed of the shocking price surge. "I couldn't believe it. The seller demanded 25% (N400k) more, citing the economic situation," expressed the buyer, visibly upset by the unexpected demand.
SenecaTheYonger: It serves you guys right. You had a little bit of control over the exchange rate so you kept increasing it by 99naira everyday just to make small profit. At the expense of 199 million Nigerians.
USDT is not scarce. I’ve never in my life heard of scarcity of USDT. So why did the price keep increasing?
You use Naira to buy USDT. You can never use dollar to buy USDT in Nigeria.
Since the clamp down on Binance, Naira has gone from 1k7 to 1k5 and it’s been hovering about 1k5 since that time. Seriously, what were you guys doing at Binance?
Both Naira and USDT are not scarce, so why the outrageous increase everyday?
