That's truly remarkable in the annals of the Nigerian movie industry.

From the days of Nigerian-produced celluloid movies that were screened at Nigerian cinemas from the 1960s (such as the 1969 blockbuster "Kongi's Harvest" by the iconic filmmaker, Prof. Wole Soyinka that was shown at Lagos cinemas), to the first ever legit Nigerian films to be produced on VHS home videos in the late 1980s (1988's "Soso Meji," produced by Ade Ajiboye and subsequently, in 1989, the iconic Prince Alade Aromire produced "Ekun" on VHS home video), right up to the current digitally produced movies that are screened at multi-plex cinemas as of 2024, things will continue to look up for the Nigerian movie industry as a global player.

I didnt shift the goal post. I was very careful to explain early on in the debate what I considered Nollywood.

I will repeat there were not VHS systems or DVD machines in the 1960. Stage plays, Cinema production, theater, musicals could not have been the Nollywood that we see today.

Even the term "Nollywood" is a relatively new term and was first used in 2002.
Are you also going to tell me that the Yoruba tribe created Kannywood?
Bump.

Let me step into this convo. History is very important and it is because some of the younger generations of Ibos were NOT born or were just babies back in the late 1970s to the 1990s that these unpardonable distortions of historical FACTS about the entire Nigerian movie industry (celluloid movie industry and home video industry packaged on BETAMAX and VHS tapes) started taking place.

I'm an older man here who witnessed the popularity of Nigerian-produced Yoruba and English celluloid movies that got screened at the National Arts Theater and Nigerian cinemas in Lagos from the late 1960s to the early 1990s. I also witnessed the rise of BETAMAX video recorders in the early 1980s and later the VHS video recorders that families started purchasing for home entertainment, leading to the late 1980s rise of the Yoruba movie industry's home videos (packaged on VHS tapes from 1988 onwards). All these events were before the first ever 1992 Ibo home video production by Kenneth Nnebue. Kenneth himself said in a 1998 newspaper interview that he wanted to produce his first 1992 home video film in Yoruba language (because there was an already existing home video industry in Lagos that was started by the Yorubas), but later took the risk to do the home video in Ibo language and it was a success.

In that same 1998 ThisDay newspaper interview in my pocession, Kenneth Nnebue himself gave credit to the Yoruba VHS home videos/Yoruba movie industry already based in Lagos, and the Indian movie industry for inspiring him to go into the movie industry. In that interview, Kenneth Nnebue also said he worked with the Yoruba film producers who he understudied and he mentioned over 10 Yoruba language home videos (sub-titled in English) that he knew of from the 1980s to the early 1990s. So, it is very clear that the Yoruba folks started both the home video industry in 1988 and the celluloid film industry in the 1960s with films being shown at the cinemas, and with Lagos State being the headquarters of the Nigerian movie industry (or the so-called Nollywood) NOT Aba like you incorrectly stated in your past post. There are of course movie subgroups of the Nigerian movie industry such as the English, Yoruba, Hausa, Ibo, Ibibio, etc. I prefer to use the term Nigerian movie industry NOT "Nollywood" because even the Indians feel highly insulted when the Indian movie industry is called "Bollywood" which is like calling them a Hollywood "wannabe" or Hollywood copycats in the Western mass media terminology.

Etymology
The origin of the term "Nollywood" remains unclear; Jonathan Haynes traced the earliest usage of the word to a 2002 article by Matt Steinglass in the New York Times, where it was used to describe Nigerian cinema.[2][3] Charles Igwe noted that Norimitsu Onishi also used the name in a September 2002 article he wrote for the New York Times.[4][5] The term continues to be used in the media to refer to the Nigerian film industry, with its definition later assumed to be a portmanteau of the words "Nigeria" and "Hollywood", the American major film hub.[6][7][8][9]

Good morning N'Landers,

So I was hungry, wify and my two kids have travelled to their home town since Saturday, and would be back this Saturday..

I don't know how to cook, I always leave that to my woman, she's a great cook, I don't want to learn it, because I want to continue appreciating her food..

I've some tubers of yam 🍠 at home and decided to cook one out of it...

It being like 12years I ate yam and palm oil, that was when I had my NYSC in Akwa Ibom (Nung ikono obio).

No gree this year for anybody wey say make you over spend or do pass yourself..
The combo of boiled yams and palm oil (or soy bean oil, margarine) as an emergency meal isn't bad... Just to have something in the stomach to keep the blood sugar levels stable.

It's always good though for a man to know how to cook some real meals incase of situations where your woman or spouse has to travel for some time. When she get's back, then let her take full command of the cooking in the kitchen (so that she'll continue to test and explore her cooking creativity). Quite a significant number of women from research don't like it if their bfs or spouses know how to cook and compete with them in the kitchen. They want to be in charge of that cooking space, though some females are lazy and also DON'T like to cook.

YouTube has a lot of recipes that can guide you or any man to cook even if you've NEVER cooked before. During my free time, and as a lover of the creative space myself, I learned how to make some of the best fried rice from YouTube and cook books... and you would think I've been cooking for eons! It was easy peazy.

Biodun556:
𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗬𝗢𝗥𝗨𝗕𝗔 𝗣𝗘𝗢𝗣𝗟𝗘 & 𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗨𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗡𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗬𝗪𝗢𝗢𝗗.
The media is currently abuzz with a statement credited to Aisha Lawal which is that the Yoruba people Created and Pioneered the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as "Nollywood". Is it true that the Yoruba people created Nollywood? Let's take a look at what the facts say.

'Nollywood' as we know it today, wasn't always called that. The Nigerian movie scene started with "The Golden age Era" which was the time period between 1950s to late 80s when theatre, stage plays and performance troupes that were mobile dominated the scene. According to the facts, productions from Western Nigeria were the major force propelling the acting industry in this time period. The earliest and most famous Nigerian thespians of then were largely Yoruba people including people like; Moses Olaiya, Jab Adu (Joseph Biodun Babajide), Isola Ogunsola, Ladi Ladebo, Sanya Dosumu and Hubert Ogunde who transitioned into the big screen. It is no mistake that Hubert Ògúndé is regarded as the father of theatre and performace arts in Nigeria.

Latola Films, which started the production of motion pictures since 1962, has often been noted as the earliest Nigerian indigenous film production company in Nigeria. Television broadcasting in Nigeria began in 1959 spear headed by the Western Nigeria Television (WNTV) Ibadan, which made it a point to broadcast the theatre and productions of the early pioneers into the homes of the denizens of Western Nigeria.

Before then a few films such as Kongi's harvest by Francis Oladele, a film based on a work of the same name by Wole Soyinka was released in 1970s. Ola Balogun's post-civil War film, Amadi (1975) was one of the first notable Nigerian historical films on celluloid. Balogun subsequently directed Ajani Ogun in 1976, a film which grew to become very popular, and is widely regarded as the first "commercial" Nigerian film, due to its success. This movie had Adeyemi Afolayan, father of current trailblazers Kunle Afolayan (producer of Anikulapo) as its main star.
Other popular films released in this era include: Bull Frog in the Sun (1974), Dinner with the Devil (1975); directed by the duo Sanya Dosunmu and Wole Amele, Ogunde's Aiye (1979), Jaiyesimi (1980), Cry Freedom (1981). These were all before Achebe's things fall apart was adapted to television in 1987.

Another very successful television adaptation was the adaptation of D.O. Fagunwa's 1949's novel, Igbo Olodumare. The television series of the same title witnessed a tremendous success, especially in South western states, where it was reported that the show constantly left streets deserted during its broadcast on Sunday evenings.

In terms of revenue generation, After several moderately successful films, productions like Papa Ajasco (1984) by Wale Adenuga became one of the first Nigerian mega grossers, reportedly grossing about ₦61,000 (₦88.64 million in 2023) in three days. A year later, Mosebolatan (1985) by Moses Olaiya also grossed ₦107,000 (₦183 million in today's money) within five days and officially became Nigerias first Blockbuster.

Later on in the late 1980's the Golden age began to come to an end due to many reasons but most importantly due to the in crease in the onership of private television sets at home.
The industry moved on to the production of home videos, an era which was termed "The video film era". Again the Yoruba people led and pioneered the industry. Firstly, by 1984, television programming in the western region, which was the major area the cinemas served had improved tremendously and more television stations were established in the region as well, leading to a significant decline in cinema culture and embrace of private television viewing.

Jimi Odumosu's Evil Encounter, a 1983 horror film released directly on television, was the first production to be a pointer to how lucrative making film directly on video can be. The film was extensively promoted before being aired on the television, and as a result, had streets flooded the following morning with video copies of the recorded broadcast. Since Evil Encounter, it became common in Nigerian cities to see video copies of recorded television programmes traded on the streets. This was the method that was adopted by producers and distributors from Eastern Nigeria who came into the movie scene later on, often with copyright violations and piracy issues but with major success in proliferation of views.

The first film produced directly on video in Nigeria is 1988's Soso Meji, produced by Ade Ajiboye. Subsequently, Alade Aromire produced Ekun (1989) on video. These are the pioneers and fathers of Nigerian Home Videos or VHS. The era became entrenched in the 90's with the proliferation of VHS video players in homes. This was the time when movie production from Eastern Nigeria became a major force in Nollywood. Kenneth Nnebue's Living in Bondage (1992) was released in this era and many of the popular stars of igbo extraction made their names in this period too.

Now, the Nigerian movie industry or 'Nollywood' is moving to its newest and most modern phase. An Era that has been termed "New Nollywood". New Nolywood is characterized by a major shift in the method of film production, from the video format/VCD discs, which came about during the video boom, back to the original cinema method the industry started out with, which constituted the films produced in the Golden Era of Nigerian cinema, and which also dominates in most countries around the globe with an organized movie industries.

This method is once again led by the Yoruba people. This is evident in the fact that the vast majority of the highest earning/grossing Nigerian movies of recent times have been largely dominated by producers of Southwestern origin like; Funke Akindele Niyi Akinmolayan, Kemi Adetiba, Kayode Kasum and others. Such movies as: Battle on Buka street to Omo ghetto, Wedding party, King of thieves, Ijakumo, King of boys Etc.

The second facet of this new era which has come with the proliferation of internet services of good quality is the- On demand streaming services and payTV sector which has seen Yoruba speaking movie productions like Anikulapo and Jagun Jagun reach record heights, becoming some of the most watched Non-English movies in the entire world on these Internet streaming platforms.

So... Yes, Aisha Oladunni Lawal is very much correct when she said Yorubas created Nollywood. And what she said is verifiable by both historical and empirical data. The only issue is some people who do not like hearing the truth and who enjoy obfuscating historical facts. Ire o.

New Zealand ladies have twice as many sexual partners on average than women from the United Kingdom and the United States.

Nigerian women just can’t get enough, which is both good and bad for their men.

The average session of sexual activity in Nigeria lasts for 24 minutes.

It isn’t bad news for guys either as 62% of Nigerian women report that they have cheated on their partners.

1. The woman is a born Machiavellian. She can camouflage to protect or defend herself in the least forceful way.

2. Only a few people are skilled in understanding body language and can peep into the nature and character of a person by merely looking at them; making judgments through physique and appearance, looking at their faces and eyes.

3. To avoid wrong judgment when it comes to a skilled manipulative woman, you can know if she's promiscuous by elongating your communication with her.

During the discourse, don't act as a saint. Even if you're an angel, pretend to be like the average demon person who doesn't give a fvck about morals and values.

This makes her feel relaxed. She will find you comfortable and trustworthy, and open her well of dark secrets for you to see.
Make sure you throw jokes, smile, and laugh during the discourse. It eases tension. With good rapport, you'll get to know her better.

4. There are others you can predict their character from their mode of dressing, hair color, tattoos, multiple piercings, and spoken words.

However, judgment from this angle has more to do with cultural trends and what's acceptable by society. Notwithstanding, many ladies are guilty on this side of judgment.

5. The best way to discern with higher accuracy is the long form of communication and close contact.

pansophist:
Generally speaking, If a young woman is not a virgin and has never been married, then your default assumption is that she is promiscuous. This may not be true twenty years ago. I'm referring to it now. Today. 21st century.

If for example a promiscuous woman has profiled you as husband material, and started forming a good girl for you, then time will expose her if you sheathe your sword and observe.

By sheathing your sword, I mean that you should come off as someone that is completely naive in the game. If they smell your naivety, then they become emboldened and drop the nail, hammer and cross you'll crucify her with

Generally speaking, Promiscuous ladies have one thing in common, and it's their "expertise" when dealing with men. Like a specialist, you can always feel the vibe of their over-experience behavior in every interaction.

You'll notice lots of inconsistencies in her words on topics relating to sex since she is trying to maintain her good-girl image. Sexual topics don't shy her and she has a point in sexual matters that can be defended like it's her thesis.

Depending on how she perceives you, she may reveal how she likes her deek long, her favorite position to be hammered, and what a guy can do to disappoint her sexually.

Ask her how long a man should last, or what constitutes good sex. This question is something a woman that is still sexually pure will not be able to answer and even if she does, her points will be shaky. But a promiscuous girl has answers.

Interaction with her will appear well-doctored, lacks originality, and spontaneity, filled with games and an open-ended route to escape being held accountable in case you detect a lie.

If lying comes naturally to her, then the chance is very high that she is promiscuous. Men lie to create a good image of themselves, while women lie to fake a good image.

Also, expect lots of questions concerning your sexual prowess, and to know your opinion of what you think about promiscuous women. Because she wants to know which color, length, and thickness of nail you'll hammer her with if you find out about her lifestyle.

Also, watch her close friends. If they are promiscuous, then she is promiscuous. Also, observe where she catches fun. If her idea of fun is clubbing constantly, and thirst trapping via revealing clothes, then also a hint.

If she is also secretive with her phone with passwords everywhere, that's also a hint. Promiscuity is like drugs, you have to be banged steady. So her phone will be more secure than the white house in the US.

Although many are smart. They will delete any clue during visits, or come with a different phone, so the phone password thingy might be stale. You can't catch some through that method.

But one thing that will never fail you is patience. Just wait, and observe. An unrighteous person trying to appear righteous will nail themselves with time. Time is something humans can't fight against, and exposes everyone and everything.

Also, see if she has a very high taste, and compare if her income can afford it. If she dresses flashy with expensive gadgets, while she obviously doesn't work or/and comes from a wealthy home, then her honeypot was the payment.

Lemme stop here. This should help.

The maker? Monsieur Louis Soubrier. It was 1890. Pre-Instagram so he was très discreet. The siège d’amour, or “seat of love,” got delivered to the Parisian bordello of his choice, Le Chabanais, for HRH’s immediate needs.

Infamous, this “playboy prince” amused himself — thanks to the chair — on occasion with two ladies at the same time without crushing his female partners.

Kiddies, Mother is telling you that this original gem is now owned by the great-grandson of its original 19th-century manufacturer. It’s one of only three still existing that was based on the original design. Another’s on display — fortunately not being used — at the Sex Machines Museum in Prague.

The following is additional information, if you have nothing else to do but need some reading matter while perched on your own pissoir:

Houses de plaisir were legalized in France around 1802. Closed 1946, when brothels were outlawed. In 1878, one of high standing, Le Chabanais, opened. Among great bordellos of fin-de-siècle Paris, the place was renowned for its extravagance. Exotic bedrooms were decorated in styles like the Turkish Chamber, the Pompeii Room, the Japanese Salon. On occasion, accompanying the busy future King Edward VII, some foreign dignitaries made pit stops.

M.S. Rau Antiques in New Orleans has clients like Oprah, Ozzy, Nicolas Cage, Prince’s wife Mayte — but so far nobody’s bought the Royal Sex Chair. They’re selling the very private privy for $68,500. (Toilet paper not included.) When this newspaper suggested it as a wedding gift for piggy me-me-Meghan and her unemployed former Highness husband — who some speculate just glommed as much as $1 million off oinking to JP Morgan types in Miami and are sponging free as houseguests right now — it was listed at $128,500. According to my research, this is the first time such a fish is appearing at the shores of that beach, and the size of the whale proves that it is still a baby.

Some policemen were at the beach to make sure the whale isn't killed.

Tunde Onakoya
A very impressive achievement from the young man. Tunde Onakoya also has to take care of himself and more like he's taking care of these children. I've been following this chess player's moves in the last 5 years and he is indeed self-less. Kudos to Tunde!

Foreign Affairs › Re: Chinese State Media Unveils New Images Of China's Most Advanced Aircraft Carrier by Konquest: 7:09pm On Jan 04, 2024
Maskedmajesticm:
Chinese state media unveiled new images of China's most advanced aircraft carrier yet, including next generation launch tracks that can catapult a wider range of aircraft from its deck.

First shown to the public in June 2022, the Fujian was entirely designed and built domestically.

Yet to conduct its first sea trials, the aircraft carrier is larger and technologically more advanced than the Shandong, commissioned in 2019, and the Liaoning, which China bought second-hand from Ukraine in 1998 and refitted domestically.

On state television late on Tuesday, the Fujian was seen being towed by a smaller vessel with all of the three tracks of its electro-magnetic catapult system visible on its deck.

"In the new year, we will seize every minute, work with determination, and strive for combat readiness as soon as possible," state television cited a Fujian officer as saying.

The Fujian has been conducting tests including mooring tests before its sea trials, which some observers expected to have taken place by 2023. The carrier started launch tests for its electromagnetic catapult system in November, according to state-controlled Chinese newspaper Global Times.

Other than Ford-Class aircraft carriers, a new class of nuclear-powered carriers being developed for the U.S. navy, the Fujian will be the only aircraft carrier in the world equipped with the latest Electro-magnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS).

China's version of the EMALS can launch more kinds of aircraft than the Shandong or the Liaoning, and will also be more reliable and energy-efficient, marking a milestone in the modernisation of the Chinese military.

President Xi Jinping has repeatedly called for increased combat-readiness and technological advances ahead of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in 2027. Some senior U.S. military officers previously said China would launch a military takeover of Taiwan by that year.

In the run-up to its Jan. 13 presidential and parliamentary elections, Taiwan has reported China continuing with its daily military activities in the Taiwan Strait and around the democratically governed island.

Chinese fighter jets have also on occasion crossed the strait's median line, which previously served as an unofficial barrier but which Beijing says it does not recognize.
