Live as one in Nigeria? which other poor Country in the whole world have as many tribe/culture as Nigeria? if there is, are they living as one? why don't we just stop fooling ourselves as being one or trying to be one in Nigeria? Here in the States someone from Maryland can run for Governorship post in New-York or California! when will such be possible in Nigeria? A Yoruba running in Enugu or Igbo in Kano? until then, lets please stop claiming to be one! we all just happen to meet eachother in that Country called Nigeria. I also agree with you in doubting if living as one will ever happen in Nigeria.
Don't like to put religion on the spot of debate but honestly , I'll let that be for now
Living together as one might be a mirage for now. My questions are: Are we the most diverse people in the world? If Nigeria was to be divided along ethnic line for autonomy, do you think we would be happy, be contented politically? If the three major ethnic groups (Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba) are given political autonomy, would they be love and unity, peaceful co-existence of subjects? I bet, family/genealogical sentiments will still press for division. Diversity will still be acknowledged. Our attitude as Nigerians determine our altitude. Our greed for power and control over others endanger our existence as a people. If you dig the history, you would be surprised to find out that we are not so diverse but our individual yearnings diversified us.

Grant Arewa nation, Massob nation and Odu'a nation: I assure you political diversity will call for amalgamation and foreign control.

We are have no choice than to be Nigerians for now. And we will be Nigerians.

God bless us.
PoliticsRe: Can Someone Please Sue Fg For Blocking Phone Services In Abuja? by Koolking(m): 5:12pm On May 31, 2011
Kai! Chei! Most Nigerians are moving backward pretending to be forward. FG's action - phone blackout in Abuja without due apology is unjustifiable. We should stop condoning incompetencies from govt. It is time we realised, we (citizens) are the king makers, the movers of this country not our leaders. We should be treated with respect, afterall they protected themselves at the detriments of Nigerians yearning for a life.

It is unimaginable and uncivilized for a govt to cut an essential service without per-information to the public. It is a smack of irresponsibility. USA being the focal of terrorist threats did not deem fit to black out phone services during Obama's inauguration; becos the govt has the interest of the citizens at heart. They understand the negative consequence of cutting essential services from the public. This act was an indirect massacre of Nigerians.

Pls, let's start thinking like we are heading somewhere.
FamilyRe: What Should A Woman Do To A Drunk Husband? by Koolking(m): 3:12pm On May 31, 2011
If you are a good woman, then he does not deserve you. Whatever drives him into drinking is not good enough reason for his misfortune. A man is a man if he faces situations proactively. I don't subscribe to a man doing despicable things (like getting drunk and womanising) just to forget about problems at home. This is utter unman-like. A good woman should flee from just man if this lifestyle becomes perennial. He is not man enough

I am spell-bound and totally embarrassed by comments on this thread. This was a simple non-bigotry thread meant to informed and as well educate the wise.

I must say, I am stomped by some comments eliciting tribal jingoism. It is no longer a question of NLers being educated. We are averagely educated here going by our opinions on national issues. but the question now is: Are we actually going to live as one in this polity or entity called Nigeria? I doubt if this will ever happen. Some Nigerians are absolute tribal fanatics; no matter what, you cannot change this destructive trait from them.

We need spiritual and attitudinal cleansing to be able to live as one in this country.

May God help us.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Chelsea Sacking 7th Coach In 7yrs : What Is The Problem ? by Koolking(m): 4:54pm On May 25, 2011
Abramovich's Chelsea should hire Guardiola as the next coach. Majority of Football followers believe Guardiola is the best coach because of the exceptional achievements of Barca in Club Footballs. May be Guardiola would do the magic.

Me believe, Guardiola is not the best, he is only privileged to be the head among the best players in the world. If Guardiola is that good, then Chelsea should go for him after all Abramovich can buy whoever he wants. Guardiola should as well be the most sort-after by underdogs just for achieving the same feats of other clubs.

RomanceRe: Should Women Change Their Phone Numbers After Marriage? by Koolking(m): 5:16pm On May 24, 2011
It is not NECESSARY. A virtuous woman is one who respects her status as a ('married')  woman. She transcends above common ideology.

To me, it is a sign of weakness and distrust. A morally-deficient woman will always be irrespective of her changing phone number or not (after marriage).

If there is nothing wrong in dual citizenship for a Nigerian public holder and the person is bi-allegiance, then there is every need for them to continue to act above the constitution since the said constitution can not bite. Until the constitution is seen as sacrosanct, our leaders would continue to rape us. And where lies the supremacy of the constitution

My thoughts exactly. If truly the truth of the gospel is preached n practiced by even 10% of the people who go to church every Sunday in Nigeria, why then is d country so corrupt?
Its so sad to see how much power ignorance has.
Everything is fundamentally wrong with this opulence lifestyle of some of our Nigerian pastors. As a pastor, you are called to shepherd the flock , to serve the flock. Giving back to the congregation is not by mere setting up institutions and charge exorbitant fees or in another way round "mainly for the children of the first class citizens". This is wrong.

Even the Vatican city (I mean "city) that has the Pope at the helm of affairs with over 1 million Catholics does not acquire private jet for the pope but chooses to hire Alitalia jet for the Pope's trip.

Why are we this wasteful in this part of the world?

Rev. Moses Iloh (former [3-term] chairman Nigeria Cycling Federation, former National Publicity Secretary - CAN, former member National Olympic Committee) has described the just concluded Presidential poll as the most sophisticated, highly educated and well-mannered electoral fraud ever recorded in the country. He revealed further that the election was the most expensive yet flawed in the nation's history.

CareerRe: What Will You Do If Your Boss Calls You Stupid? by Koolking(m): 12:58pm On May 20, 2011
Mehn, I will do nothing. I have heard that from my boss over a thousand times. Not necessarily committing a blunder but having a fall out from the wife or business contemporaries.
More often than not, he would burst into our department and label everybody- married and unmarried "bunch of fools. If you don't like it you leave the job. Some bosses are too arrogant. This is very obvious among Nigerian entrepreneurs. They feel they do people favours.

Working for another person is one of the craziest things: You need to accept to be ping-ponged everywhere. If you are sure where you are going and what you want to achieve working with such boss, you don't mind being call whatever. It does not in any way bring your dignity low.

This thread is so enlightening on dual citizenships. The constitution seem to contradicts itself.

May I ask: Is it possible for a governor of a Nigerian state to owe allegiance to two countries? I have not read in any of the posts here that Ajimobi renounced his US citizenship before contesting for the election.

The whole issue is puzzling, let's see how their lawyers crack this

I have a feeling you were gassing air when you wrote this piece?

Only a foolish man does the same thing over and over again even in the face of no result. You guys did these before the elections, and as if the majority of Nigerians said shut up to you all by voting the man you so disparaged, the man you called dumb, the man you called senseless, the man you called foolish the man you called clueless. You voted and campaigned on the pages of Nairaland just to bring him down, but like a man who eats his own sh it, the people said no to you all, and instead of cowing in shame, you still come in here on the same forum trying to undo what has been done, what a foolish way to act.

Abeg, if you like it or not, 20 million people have spoken, if you dont like it, what a shame. Travel out and forget about Nigeria, or simply eat rat poison, then we will hear about you, that you have made a point and that 20million people are indeed wrong. Or at best - carry a sword and begin to behead 20million people.

I am sure you will get all those information just by opening threads on nairaland right?  undecided
I need not publicise achievements of public office holders in order to convince you they indeed achieved. Achievements are not to be publicised but to be felt and ofcourse change lives. Am not a dishonest politicians that make a 10-page publication on his achievement by mere showing phantom structures that exist only on "getty image" online. If you need published achievements, kindly meet GEJ. I think you are just naive about the whole issue.

Pls, my brother let's reconsider out attitude on national issues in order to realise our country's dream - GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT NATION

You didnt weep when Buhari bigots were beheading NYSC members, did you? Rubbish.
Buhari has nothing to do with GEJ's achievement as the president of Nigeria. He is not a new Nigeria. GEJ as the president, had all the power to infiltrate any treat pose by persons or group. But he chose to place his personal interest above national interest. The pre/post elections [bombings] killings were the direct consequences of GEJ's achievements as a confused president.

May you wipe(not Nigeria) and never end as you choose to be lazy. If tribal sentiment made GEJ to win then those of us from ND are most luckiest been the majority tribe and will always occupy the presidency. You guys criticizing of GEJ is nothing short of tribal affiliation and sentiments. He does what is good, you condemn him or does otherwise still kill him. Criticising is an acceptble norm in any civilised nation but must be constructive. In one of the recent post someone was suggesting that GEJ should stop putting on the traditional etibo of the Ijaw nation but should wear agbada.
For goodness sake, I am surprise you are pissed off already by my opinion. Why can't some of us on NL think vertically for once? Pls, kindly be reminded I am not sentimental about issues and will never be. Since you have chosen to label me 'Lazy', so be it.

Pls, permit me to say, you are one of those that have allowed sentiments to becloud your sense of reasoning. Let's face it: What antecedent does GEJ has?
I am a proud Southerner, but I will never be a party to those that gamble the future of our dear country (Nigeria) just becos my brother [with no vision] has accepted to lead. I will never; it is as good as having a foreigner who will perform meaningfully.

We have overflogged the issue of GEJ's achievement, and embarrassingly no pro-GEJ has been able to enlighten us with ease. Their silence is attestation to the fact that he has not achieved anything even when he was Deputy/Governor of Bayelsa. We need not argue over this, facts are sacred.
Someone advised earlier, NLanders should contact relevant agencies for GEJ's achievements. I almost fainted laughing. The comment was so unintelligent; I asked myself is GEJ serving Nigerians or Agencies? This comment reminded me of some opinions before the General polls, that supports for GEJ is premised on the fact that, queues to buy fuel at filling stations were things of the past made possible by GEJ. I was taken aback and totally disappointed to actually hear this from people. What a yard stick to give a president of a nation a vote of confidence.

Four-years is not forever. We will come to reckoning. I challenge GEJ to prove me wrong. We will never get out of this political, economic, social and religious quagmire if we don't stop thinking selfishly.
It is high time we reconsidered our attitudes on dire national issues if we are to be a great nation. Think about it my brother
